We've read a Ton of great comics in the last 10 years, and we picked out the 100 best for you to passionately disagree with.
What a century this last decade has been.
Seriously, the pace of change over the last 10 years has been steadily rising, and has been somewhere between “dangerous” and “murderous” for the last 3, and that isn’t just about geopolitics: the comics world of today is certainly recognizable to a time traveller from 2010, but it would look extremely weird.
- Webcomics and medium press publishers are Everywhere now.
- Marvel has embraced multiple restarts of its line.
- DC has rebooted its universe at least twice.
- Comics are for kids again.
- Nerds rule culture, for all that’s good and bad.
These changes have been catalysts for some very, very good comic books, and we wanted to give you a list of some of our favorites.

Alan Moore famously has a love-hate relationship with superhero comics. Well, I mean, a lot of people love or hate superhero comics, and plenty do both. The difference is that superhero comics hates and loves Moore back.
In the late ’90s, after he’d cast a magic incantation cursing DC Comics and all of its wares, swearing never to work for them again under any circumstances, Moore started his own line of superhero comics, under the not-at-all-self-aggrandizing label of America’s Best Comics. And then his publisher sold the entire company to DC anyway, pretty much simultaneously with the launch of the ABC line.
(It’s almost enough to make one believe that deep Northamptonian magic doesn’t actually do anything!)
One of those ABC books was Promethea, with art by J.H. Williams II and Mick Gray. I read the first collection sometime in the early Aughts, and didn...

Though it's not really a radical departure from his current Rebirth look, The Man of Steel is set to debut a new costume in the pages of Superman #20 and Action Comics #977 this April. As you can see from the covers below (via Comibook.com), this outfit sports a few subtle differences around the collar, cuffs, boots and belt, which give Supes a more classic appearance - though those divisive red shorts are still absent. Check out the covers below along with the solicitations for both issues. Superman #20 Written by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason • Art by Patrick Gleason and Mick Gray • Cover by Patrick Gleason • Variant cover by Tony S. Daniel “Superman Black” part one! A “Superman Reborn Aftermath” tie-in! As the smoke clears the Kents are faced with leaving Hamilton to go back to Metropolis, but someone or something doesn’t want them to leave! Batman and Robin...

Dammit, Barry, stop messing with the timeline again! It’s too early to tell if he’s to blame for the events in Superman #14, but it’s normally his fault. Titled “Multiplicity,” this new arc from the writing team of Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason features the return of the Multiverse. The big question is, how does it tie-in with Rebirth?
As Clark drives along a Hamilton County road, he nearly crashes into a battered Red Son Superman, who asks for his help. Red Son Superman tells Clark about his attackers, the Prophecy and his Gatherers, and how they’re after him and Kenan Kong, aka China’s Super-Man. Allowing only a brief moment for expositional dialogue, the Gatherers attack again, making it clear Clark isn’t on their mysterious “lyst.” Proving he’s the ol’ Superman of pre-New 52, Clark declares, “around here the only one making lists is Santa Claus.

Comic Book Reviews: DC Round Up Week 11-16-2016
This week Batman’s plans for Operation: Break Bane’s Damn Back! Continues with an unexpected (but not really) twist, Green Arrow continues to deliver, and I basically give up Aquaman being interesting. To top it off I’m thinking I’ll finally drop Suicide Squad as despite Jim Lee’s artwork the story is just dumb. It’s lowest common denominator dumb. Characters acting different then they do anywhere else, being forced to feel more like the “movie”, and now potential zombie Captain Boomerangs. How did the other books fair this week? Read on!
Aquaman #11
Story: Dan Abnett Art: Philippe Briones, Gabe Eltaeb
Review: So it takes Arthur nearly getting beaten to death by the Shaggy Man (yes that’s a real villain, a robot that’s indestructible and looks like Big Foot) to finally win some good graces back...

Comic Book Reviews: DC Comics Round Up Week 11-02-2016
After a brief hiatus from reviewing the great books of DC Comics I hop back and see what the current state of various series are. Officially moved from “I kind of care” to “I don’t care at all” are Cyborg, Justice League, Blue Beetle, Doom Patrol, Catwoman: Election Night and probably a few others soon. So the review list gets shorter! I am casually keeping up with these titles so if anyone has questions or thoughts feel free to sound off in the comments below and I’m more than happy to engage in discussion!

DC Comics continues having some soft retcons in their Rebirth line up. This time around Cyborg is the center of attention, getting a new creative team and focus. Does it work? Will this be the time for Cyborg to pick up steam with a potential film still looming in the distance? Read on to find out!
Aquaman #6

Review: Did someone not inform Dan Abnett this isn’t the same Clark that was introduced when The New 52 first started! This Superman seems very familiar with Arthur, so much so Arthur has no problem airing some of his more insecure issues with Big Blue. The exchange was awkward, and full of weird contradictions that just didn’t make sense for the characters. Superman says he’s not a puppet and he came to talk things out,...

Comic Book Reviews: DC Round Up Week 08-03-2016
When I first started writing reviews for Lrm I stated I would stick with all the DC Rebirth Issues until at least issue 6 before considering any to drop. So far, I’ve pleasantly been surprised by my complete interest in All the Rebirth Titles thus far! We are approaching issue 4 for most of the newly revamped series, with still many more trickling in that show promise. As the first “wave” of books get closer to issue 6, I’ll do a quick rundown on those series and try to help new readers choose which books might be best for them. Until then, be sure to sound off in the comments on how you’re liking (or disliking) the DC Rebirth!

Some of you who read my Facebook posts might have already seen this, but I think that it’s important enough to repeat the story. It’s from the “See Something, Say Something” school.
Yesterday I was walking down the block to the store and I passed a parked car with two dogs in it and all the windows closed, including the sunroof. It was 95 degrees here in Bayonne, which meant that inside the car it must have been at least 10 degrees hotter. I went into the restaurant on the corner and asked if anyone owned this car. No. So, what to do? I waited about five minutes to see if the owner came back – nope. So I called the police. I’m happy to say they showed up immediately. They went from door-to-door up and down the street, and to the storefronts to see if they could find the owner.

Story: Tom King Art: David Finch, Matt Banning Colors: Jordie Bellaire
Review: Tom King wastes little time picking the action from where Batman: Rebirth left off. A terrorist with a rocket launcher is loose in Gotham and Batman needs to track him down before something really bad happens! Unfortunately, that's exactly what unfolds leading to the Dark Knight having to go head to head with a dive bombing B757 to save Gotham! To complicate matters further, two new heroes show up going by the names 'Gotham' and 'Lady Gotham,...

When picking out the Rebirth titles that I was most looking forward to, Superman was not high on my list. Mainly because he is not one of my favorite characters and thus I have not read too many of his story arcs. But to my surprise, Superman Rebirth, Action Comics Rebirth and now Superman #1 are some of my favorites out of all the titles the have come out so far. I thought this book was going to stay focused with the events we saw in Action Comics, but instead it turned its attention to Superman’s son Jonathan.
Early in this issue as Superman is saving livestock from their burning barn and Jonathan says “But they didn’t have to worry. My dad is Superman”, I knew that this book was going to have a different tone and focus. You really feel for Jonathan who because he can’t control his powers,...

When I first saw the cover of Batman/Superman Issue #1, I was instantly excited to read it and take in as much of Jae Lee's fabulous art as I could. Unlike the art, the direction the story took disappointed me. Batman/Superman Volume 1: Cross World leaves me with mixed feelings.
A goddess from Apokolips transports the Superman and Batman of our world to Earth 2. It's a world where the familiar becomes unfamiliar and the origins of our heroes aren't what we've come to know as canon. It's a world where the Dark Knight and Man of Steel must join forces with their doppelgangers to defeat a universal enemy and find their way back to the reality they're from.
I give Greg Pak praise for taking a storyline that could've sunk very quickly into tedium and breathing new life into it. It's still irritating that a re-launch of...

DC Comics has revealed several new solicits for the upcoming ‘Death of the Family‘ story arc which will feature the prominent return of The Joker in the New 52 universe. We last caught a glimpse of the Clown Prince of Crime in Detective Comics #1 where we were shown the graphic image of his surgically removed face. This removed piece of flesh appeared now and then in several Bat-titles since then, but The Joker himself has remained relatively unseen in the New 52 universe up to this point. All that will change when the ‘Death of the Family’ story arc kicks off in November.
Below are several solicits that will serve as both lead-ins and tie-ins for the ‘Death of the Family’ story arc.

It’s that time again… okay, it’s a little past that normal time, thanks to the Mix March Madness wrapup, but here are the preview materials for DC Comics releases for July 2012.
What’s on tap this month? More of the Before Watchmen books, with the debut of Ozymandias from Len Wein and Jae Lee, the conclusion of the Court of Owls storyline and crossover in all the Bat-books, and the debut of the done-in-one book, National Comics, featuring the New 52 Debut (coming right at you) of Eternity.
And in the white elephant of desire category, there’s the $300 statue showing the climactic scene from The Dark Knight Returns.
Once more, into the breach? Banzai!
As always, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.

Book: Batman And Robin #4
Written By: Peter J. Tomasi
Pencils By: Patrick Gleason
Published By: DC Comics
Price: $2.99
Pages: 32
After reading this issue, Batman And Robin is officially in my top five books of the New 52.
Within the span of 20 Pages, Writer Peter Tomasi resolves the one problem I had with this series in a clear and satisfying manner. As much as I loved this series so far there was always one aspect that bugged the hell out of me; the villains back-story (or lack of in this case). It was established early on that our villain Morgan (aka NoBody), knew that Bruce was Batman (while Bruce knew he was NoBody) and that they had a long history together at some undisclosed time and place in the past. Thankfully after almost four months of waiting we have our answers and without giving the game away, the reveal of their back-story is simply,...

We hold in our hands the covers for DC Comics this March. As a child of four can plainly see, these comics have been hermetically sealed in a Cgc 9.8 slab, and they’ve been kept in a #2 mayonnaise jar under a giant pile of Christmas tinsel since noon today.
What do we have worth noting? The first fill-in artist on Justice League, although Gene Ha is certainly no slouch in that department. We also have new writers on Firestorm and Green Arrow, new backups in Justice League and Action Comics, and the DC 52 hits lucky number 7.
Shall we see who is the fariest of them all? Oh indeedy, let’s do!
As usual, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.

We hold in our hands the covers for DC Comics this February. As a child of four can plainly see, these comics have been hermetically sealed in a Cgc 9.9 slab, and they’ve been kept in a #2 mayonnaise jar under a giant stack of returned copies of Holy Terror since noon today.
What do we have worth noting? The new look of Darkseid, and we’re far enough into the new 52 books that it’s time for Batman to start crossing over in all of them. Plus Mara Jade, the red-haired assassin who fell in love with her blond-haired man she was sent to kill– oh, I’m sorry, that’s from Star Wars. This is Mera in a jade outfit. Our mistake.
Shall we? Surely!
