The Sundance Film Festival is regarded as one of the most prestigious independent film festivals, where filmmakers have been premiering their movies and documentaries since 1984.
The festival was founded in 1978 by Sterling Van Wagenen, the head of Robert Redford’s company Wildwood, and John Earle of the Utah Film Commission under the name Utah/US Film Festival to attract more filmmakers to Utah.
Redford founded the Sundance Institute in 1981 to foster independence, risk-taking, and new voices in American film. That year, 10 emerging filmmakers were invited to the Sundance Resort in the mountains of Utah, where they worked with leading writers, directors and actors to develop their original independent projects.
By 1984, the festival had established itself and was officially renamed the Sundance Film Festival after Redford’s character in his 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. That year, the Grand Jury Prize in Dramatics was awarded to Old Enough, an...

USA’s Temptation Island Season 5 is finally here, and fans can’t wait to see the four new couples who will test their relationships. The show involves couples and singles, as the singles get to meet the couples and potentially form relationships with taken individuals. So, are Temptation Island contestants paid to appear on the show? Here’s what to know.
Are ‘Temptation Island’ contestants paid to appear on the show?
Temptation Island cast members are not paid, and that doesn’t change with season 5. The singles and couples appearing in the series don’t receive any money for showing up on camera, and they’re not part of the show for a monetary reward. There’s a solid chance that appearing on the show won’t lead to any money at all.
With that said, those appearing on the show don’t have to pay for their flights or lodging.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for The Boys Season 3, Episodes 7 & 8, “Here Comes a Candle to Light You to Bed” & “The Instant White-Hot Wild.”] The Boys is without a doubt one of TV’s wackiest shows, but it can also deliver one of its most poignant with dark trauma-filled storylines like in Season 3’s revealing entry, “Here Comes a Candle to Light You to Bed.” Directed by Sarah Boyd, the entry sees Boys’ vigilante leader Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) trapped in one of Mindstorm’s (Ryan Blakely) haunting visions. Experiencing his past in flashes, Butcher is haunted by memories of his younger brother Lenny (Jack Fulton). Forced to reckon with the mistakes he’s made, the unending fog allows viewers further insight into the violent opposer of Supes, just as the Black Noir’s (Nathan Mitchell) history is shared through the lens of cartoon characters making for an unconventional, yet moving story. ...

“The Boys” (from Amazon Prime Video) broadened its subversive superhero appeal in Season 2, coming away with hard-won Emmy nominations for Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. However, its first Emmy nod for Special Visual Effects was practically undeniable, given the cringe-inducing effectiveness of its grotesque spectacle.
While Episode 3’s speedboat chase through a gigantic whale (with CG courtesy of Industrial Light & Magic) has gained the most attention, the most challenging and hideous VFX can be found in Episode 6 (“The Bloody Doors Off”). That’s where Frenchie (Tomer Capone), M.M. (Laz Alonso), and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) infiltrate the Vought-run mental institution, Sage Grove, and discover that the inmates are being pumped with Compound V to fix their defective superpowers.
Stephan Fleet, the VFX supervisor, was given carte blanche for designing the superpowers of all the inmates, which was both a curse and a blessing since, for realism’s sake,...

Director Sarah Boyd had a lot to unpack in The Boys’ standout episode “The Bloody Doors Off”. The season 2 installment kicks off with a disturbing sex romp between a turned-on Stormfront (Aya Cash) and Homelander (Antony Starr), but only after he crushed a man’s face in with his hand.
Meanwhile, Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie (Jack Quaid), Annie a.k.a. Starlight (Erin Moriarty), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) take a road trip to the Sage Grove Center, a facility Annie stumbled across on Stormfront’s laptop. They discover the institution serves as a testing ground, where reluctant subjects are being injected with Compound-v… to varying results. To further complicate matters, former Seven member Lamplighter (Shawn Ashmore) had been recruited to keep the patients in line – or roast the unruly alive with his fiery powers. And, as it turns out, Frenchie and Lamplighter shared a shocking history together.

“The Boys” was developed for the screen by writer/director Eric Kripke, based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson as a subversive and wickedly satirical take on corporate America’s obsession with wealth and power. It is a highly entertaining cautionary tale about celebrity worship, materialism, fame and greed, exploring what happens when these revered superheroes abuse their unlimited powers.
Its large ensemble includes stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Chace Crawford, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon and Karen Fukuhara, with Aya Cash and Claudia Doumit joining the cast for season 2.

While the show’s first season inexplicably flew a little too under the radar for Emmy voters, it did garner a single nomination for sound editing.

The second season of Amazon Studios’ Eric Kripke-created superhero series The Boys based on the bestselling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson only gained in momentum and swagger. Debuting in September, the eight-episode sophomore season nearly doubled the Season 1 worldwide audience (+89%) in just its first two weeks, and even got a shout-out from former President Barack Obama to boot.
The success quickly spawned a Season 3 renewal, with Amazon also at work on a spinoff set at America’s only college exclusively for YA superheroes. The spinoff is being described as “part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire and raunch of The Boys.”
But back to Season 2, which saw the vigilantes The Boys – Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara...

“There’s very few people who direct who have never done anything before so everyone brings something to the table,” director Sarah Boyd shares about the value of bringing a certain skill set to the director’s chair, which in her case was years as an editor on some of the most high profile series on television. That included “Bates Motel,” “The Killing” and “Lost” (for which she was nominated for two Emmys), and now Boyd has successfully pivoted into directing on “This Is Us,” “The Flash” and “The Boys,” on which she helmed the acclaimed sixth episode of the show’s second season (entitled “The Bloody Doors Off”).
“An editor can bring something very useful to the table,” Boyd declares. “You’ve seen what works and what doesn’t you’ve seen some of the pitfalls of some great directors doing things that maybe they wasted their time not needing to do,...

Now that the sixth season of The Flash is finally underway, we can get back to our weekly routine of spending quality time with the likes of Barry Allen, Caitlin Snow, Cisco Ramon and whatever version of Harrison Wells the multiverse throws our way. Hey, this week’s premiere may not have been as strong as the previous year’s, but I’d say this season is still off to a very strong start.
And much like you’d expect them to, the network has been pumping out preview images well in advance of each episode’s respective air dates. Already, we’ve gotten a glimpse at Jay Garrick’s return in 6×02, and now we get to see what 6×03 has in store.
In this case, the ominously titled “Dead Man Running” is being put under the microscope. If anything alarming does happen, we’re not getting much hint of it here.

In just a matter of hours from the time of this writing, The Flash will have returned for its highly anticipated sixth season. When you stop to think about it, time has really flown by, as it seems like just yesterday this show kicked off. But even with a handful of years behind it, this fan favorite displays no signs of slowing down.
Now, as we join Barry Allen on the next leg in his incredible journey, it’ll quickly become apparent that Oliver Queen isn’t the only one having to deal with a lot heading into “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” With the timeline having been accelerated, the Scarlet Speedster is being forced to come to grips with the fact that he’ll vanish before long.
That said, it’s difficult not finding the official synopsis for “Dead Man Running” to be the slightest bit foreboding. Here, check it...

Hey, "Agents Of Shield" fans. We hope you guys enjoyed tonight's episode 8. Now that it's officially over and done with, it's time to take a look at what the next, new episode 9 will look like. Thanks to the wonderful folks over at ABC, we have a very, very tiny idea of what episode 9 will feature via their press release. So, that's what we'll be referencing for this spoiler session. As usual, we will start things off with the title reveal. Episode 9 is officially labeled, "Collision Course Part 2." That's right, guys. This is part 2 of tonight's episode 8 that is aptly titled, "Collision Course Part 1." It featured evil Coulson aka Sarge taking over the leadership role for the Shield crew since he's the only one that knows what to do about that freak alien beast that can literally wipe out planets. As most of you can imagine, episode 9 will basically just be...

If you tuned in for tonight’s episode of The Flash, then you certainly got all you could’ve asked for and more. In addition to Caitlin Snow’s father showing up and establishing himself as the Arrowverse’s version of the Icicle just as we suspected he would, we also learned of her true origins as Killer Frost. And if that weren’t enough, daddy also dropped the names of two other major “cold villains” from the DC Universe, those being Louise Lincoln (another Killer Frost from the comics) and Victor Fries!
When it came to Cicada, though, the team inched ever closer to uncovering his identity. But if we have anything to learn from the first trailer promoting next week’s episode, “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” the big bad just might get to the Scarlet Speedster and his buddies first.

Even if some of the biggest mysteries confounding viewers of The Flash end up being solved within the next few weeks, there’s still much we can look forward to before the winter hiatus arrives. In fact, the network has been generous enough to release images and a synopsis relevant to the Thanksgiving episode.
Oddly enough, said offering won’t arrive until the week following Turkey Day, but we’re still going to receive a hearty helping of Team Flash enjoying each other’s company while stuffing their faces. Of course, there’ll be more to the episode than just that, though a full hour of watching them eat would be a bold move made by the producers.
Before we proceed any further, though, let’s take a look at that new description and gallery promoting “O Come, All Ye Faithful”:

Last week at Comic-Con, I participated in press room roundtable interviews with the cast and creators of Bates Motel, who discussed the heart-ripping last episodes of Season 4 and also looked ahead at what’s to come in the fifth and final season. Topics covered included the casting of Rihanna as Marion Crane, character mindsets heading into Season 5, Freddie Highmore writing and directing an upcoming episode, and much more. [Spoiler warning if you haven’t finished watching Season 4.]
Executive producers / writers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin on casting Rihanna as iconic Psycho character Marion Crane:
