Revolving around two things many of us know all too well, neighbours from hell and writer’s block, Destroy All Neighbors is an over-the-top exercise in splatstick from director Josh Forbes and writers Mike Benner, Jared Logan and Charles A. Pieper.
William Brown makes his living as a sound engineer at Industrial Sound & Magic, helping to bring other people’s music to life. Currently, it’s the obnoxious Caleb Bang Jansen, “Emerson, Lake and Palmer? It sounds like Emerson getting buttfucked by Lake and Palmer.”
But when it comes to his own Prog Rock album, he’s stuck in a rut. While his girlfriend Emily believes in him, everyone else around him seems to exist only to stifle his efforts.

John Carpenter has shared the news on Twitter that he's set to appear as a guest on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" tonight, marking his first return to the late show circuit in decades. The filmmaker has popped up on late shows before, discussing "Halloween" on David Letterman's show in 1982 and returning to talk to Letterman (by then in Colbert's current "Late Show" post) in 1999. But the horror master isn't a big late show guy, and the pre-21st century Letterman appearance seems to have been the last time anyone saw him give a traditional late show interview aside from an appearance on "The Daily Show" in 2001. Thus, his spot on "The Late Show" tonight is certain to be a rare treat for horror fans eager to hear from the brilliant writer, director, producer, and composer behind films like "The Thing" and "Escape From New York."

The success of the Netflix series Wednesday thrust Jenna Ortega into superstardom. The former Disney Channel star was suddenly the most recognizable face in streaming. But did you know that her start in the entertainment business came after she was accidentally discovered on social media?
How did Jenna Ortega get discovered?
After Jenna Ortega’s mother posted a video of her doing a dramatic monologue on Facebook, it got the attention of a family friend who knew a casting agent. Soon after, Ortega was signed by a talent agency, and she began consistently booking work.
Ortega was just 9 years old at the time. Her first role was in the short-lived series Rob. She also made guest appearances on CSI: NY and segued into film with Iron Man 3 in 2013.

Nothing is perfect in life, but then life isn’t meant to be enjoyed. It is meant to be lived. And although it has its flaws, we need to make the most of the good moments rather than complain about the bad ones. The same is what we have to do with Studio 666. Granted, it could have been better in many ways, especially a shorter duration, but Studio 666 is better than many other movies of its genre, i.e., horror comedy, especially if you are a fan of “death” metal. It is the light-hearted quality of a horror comedy that makes analyzing it a lot of fun. In this article, I’ll try to do that. I hope you guys like it.

Foo Fighters will learn to fly again as a band, announcing over the weekend that they have found an official replacement for late drummer Taylor Hawkins in prolific snare smasher Josh Freese.
The Foo Fighters unveiled Freese as their new drummer in a typically humorous video over the weekend as part of their live stream event, Preparing Music for Concerts. The video starts off with a (nearly) full band chat, which gets constantly interrupted by cameo appearances from the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee and Tool’s Danny Carey. Tired of the nonsense, Freese requests that the band–including lead singer Dave Grohl, guitarist Pat Smear, bassist Nate Mendel–you know, play some songs. Agreeing, the Foos rip into “All My Life.”

Jenna Ortega was the guest host on Saturday Night Live this past weekend, and it was only fitting that the show would use the young scream queen – whose credits include Scream 2022, X, Studio 666, You, Insidious: Chapter 2, The Babysitter: Killer Queen, American Carnage, and the Addams Family series Wednesday – in a sketch that puts a comedic twist on a horror classic. For a sketch that spoofs the 1973 film The Exorcist (watch it Here), Ortega stands in for Linda Blair as a possessed young girl who undergoes an unusual exorcism, courtesy of her neighbor. The sketch clip can be seen at the bottom of this article… but it’s geo-blocked, so you’ll have to be in the US or in a country that allows the use of a Vpn to watch it.

Numbers have begun rolling in for this weekend’s slate of movies and Scream VI is looking to nab a franchise best opening weekend currently projected at $43.5 million after notching a solid start of $5.7 million on Thursday. That preview number is actually higher than last week’s Creed III which ended up opening to over $58 million. Of course horror films tend to be more front loaded and with spoilers rampant on the internet, the hard core fans probably wanted to see the movie as soon as possible so that nothing was ruined for them.
Last years Scream 5, or Scream as it was officially called, opened with $3.5 million in previews on its way to a $30.01 million opening while 2000’s Scream 3 currently holds the franchise record opening with $34.7 million. All eyes will be on Saturday’s numbers to see if this one is trending in the right direction. Reviews have been pretty strong,...

This post contains spoilers for "The Mandalorian" season 3, episode 1, "The Apostate."
In the same way Daniel Craig made a stealth cameo as a Stormtrooper in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," "The Mandalorian" has already featured more than one famous guest star who went unrecognizable because of costuming or makeup. This goes back to the series premiere when comedian and former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Horatio Sanz played Mando's first bounty, the blue alien Mythrol. The season 3 premiere also sneaks in "Sweet Tooth" star Nonso Anozie as the seaweed-headed pirate king, Gorian Shard. Even Din Djarin himself, voiced by Anozie's fellow "Game of Thrones" alum Pedro Pascal, spends most of the series under a helmet. The very removal of that helmet gets him excommunicated from the Way of the Mandalore, hence the episode title, "The Apostate."

In 1964, The Beatles released A Hard Day’s Night, the first of several movies about the band. It was a comedy in which they played themselves, and its success led to several other Beatles films. The band broke up in 1970, so a finite number of movies feature their acting chops. If you like A Hard Day’s Night, you might also be a fan of other movies featuring musicians playing themselves.

The explosive success of The Beatles during Beatlemania led them into uncharted territory: the film industry. They began shooting A Hard Day’s Night in 1964, and no member of the band had any acting experience. While they had fun on set, they found it excruciating to watch themselves on screen.

Scream queen and horror's current "It-girl," Jenna Ortega, has signed on to star and produce in a coming-of-age romantic drama that's being described as Richard Linklater's "Before Sunrise" meets "The Perks of Being a Wallflower." The film, "Winter Spring Summer Or Fall," is the feature directorial debut of Tiffany Paulsen, who folks may know for writing the films "Holidate" and "About Fate." The script comes from Dan Schoffer, who wrote the script that was used in the Starz filmmaking competition show, "The Chair," which became Shane Dawson's "Not Cool" and A.M. Lukas' "Hollidaysburg."
In an interesting bit of casting news, Ortega will be starring opposite her "Wednesday" co-star, Percy Hynes White, who played Xavier Thorpe on the Netflix series. The duo will play a pair of teens who "meet and fall in love over four significant days of the year," according to a report from Deadline.

Jenna Ortega is a force to be reckoned with. The young starlet began her career with several bit parts in TV and movies in the early 2010s. By the middle of the decade, she enjoyed a stint on the "Richie Rich" series and appearances in "The Cookie Mobster" and "After Words." But it wasn't until her role as young Jane in "Jane the Virgin" that she began to turn a few heads. Then, in 2019, she starred as Ellie in Netflix's soapy crime drama "You," in which she dished up a star-turning performance. She went from promising talent to superstar overnight, so it's no wonder that she's become a household name. Everyone wants to work with her.
In the four years since her game-changing TV gig, she's landed roles in countless more projects, including Ti West's retro-slasher "X," the Dave Grohl-backed "Studio 666," and the award-nominated, Tim Burton-directed "Wednesday" series on Netflix.

Ti West's film "X" is set in Texas in 1979 and follows an aspiring troupe of adult filmmakers who aim to shoot their X-rated magnum opus at a remote, secluded farm, outside the purview of the rest of the adult industry. Audiences will immediately intuit that the character will be summarily stalked and killed; "X" is, after all, a slasher film. The killer in question is the owner of the farm, an octogenarian named Pearl, who is driven to envy-inspired murder by the youthful energy and unashamed lust the filmmakers bring onto her property. In an unusual twist of casting, Pearl is played by a makeup-shrouded Mia Goth, who also plays a young adult actor named Maxine Minx.
The horror elements of "X" are standard slasher fare, with characters wandering off alone into dark areas only to be transformed into future forensic evidence by blades and blunt objects. The more...

This post contains spoilers for Netflix's "Wednesday" series.
2022 has been a banner year for Jenna Ortega. While she's been working for a decade now, it wasn't until her roles in "Jane the Virgin" and "You" that she caught the world's attention. She's since appeared in several shows, including "Big City Greens," and a slew of high-profile films, such as "Scream" (2022) and "X." Along with excellent turns in "The Fallout" and Netflix's "Wednesday," Ortega has commanded the conversation. She's more than a scream queen: Ortega is the moment.
Ortega's body of work also includes appearances in television series like "Stuck in the Middle" and roles in "Insidious: Chapter 2" and "The Babysitter: Killer Queen." Her other credits this year include "Carnage" and "Studio 666," a Dave Grohl-produced horror-comedy. Whenever Ortega appears on screen, you'll know it. She draws you into her world with performances that are grounded, authentic, and complex.

It looks like the box office has finally rebounded from a number of dismal months without a single movie opening north of 50 million. The box office savior? Wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson and his persistence to bring the DC Comics anti-hero “Black Adam” to the big screen, reteaming with his “Jungle Cruise” director, Jaume Collet-Sera, and a supporting cast of heroes played by Pierce Brosnan, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, and Quintessa Swindell.

Kesha has revealed that her recent performance at the US Taylor Hawkins tribute concert left her with a haemorrhaged vocal cord.
On Tuesday (27 September), the 35-year-old singer joined a handful of musicians in Los Angeles, including Miley Cyrus, Travis Barker, and Dave Grohl, to honour Grohl’s late Foo Fighters bandmate Hawkins, who was found dead in his hotel room in Colombia in March.
During Kesha’s performance of David Bowie’s “Hero”, she experienced a wardrobe malfunction on stage.
In an Instagram post on Thursday (29 September), the Grammy-winning artist shared a photo commemorating the night, explaining that “in the middle of my wardrobe malfunction, I decided to distract everyone from my titties falling out by singing really. Loud”.
“And today, I found out I haemorrhaged one of my vocal cords. Soooo. I’m posting all the pics from the f***ing moment bc. This was quite a moment,” she added.

Dave Grohl, Travis Barker, and Miley Cyrus were some of the artists who performed at the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert in Los Angeles on Tuesday 27 September.
The show, which was held at the Kia Forum, kickstarted with Grohl’s 16-year-old daughter Violet performing a rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” along with guitarist Alain Johannes.
After that, Foo Fighters took over the stage, announcing: “Welcome to the Los Angeles Taylor Hawkins tribute concert.
“This is the hometown s***, so you gotta make it loud for Taylor.”
Grohl said that the idea of the concert is to “spend some time in [Hawkins’s] musical mind, which could be a pretty terrifying place” and to “celebrate this person that has touched our lives.”
The show continued with performances by Joan Jett, Chevy Metal, Kesha, Coattail Riders, Mark King, Rufus Taylor, Joe Walsh and the James Gang, Cyrus, Mötley Crüe, and Def Leppard among others.

Opening with a voiceover and montage of political speeches and news broadcasts on the topic of immigration, American Carnage immediately introduces us to Jp and his sister Lily. She’s just been accepted into college, but what should be a happy family celebration is interrupted as an Ice Swat team kicks in the door.
And here we run into a major issue with American Carnage’s plotting. The raid is one of many called for under an executive order signed by Governor Haper Finn. Immigration policy and enforcement is a federal matter, an executive order by a state governor would have no force. And even if it did, Ice is a federal agency, it doesn’t take orders from state governments.

Hey, everyone! We’re back with a brand new installment of our horror and sci-fi home media recap, and if you’re looking to check out some fun stuff this upcoming Memorial Day weekend, maybe this week’s releases can help keep you entertained. If you haven’t had a chance to check them out yet, both Umma featuring Sandra Oh and Matt Reeves’ The Batman arrive on Tuesday via a variety of formats. Both Tobe Hooper’s Lifeforce and James Wan’s Malignant are getting the 4K format treatment this week, and somehow I missed the fact that there was a RoboCop TV series at some point, but that’s being released on both Blu-ray and DVD this Tuesday. And on a bittersweet note, the Foo Fighters’ Studio 666 is making its home entertainment debut this week as well.

***Please note, this interview took place in February 2022, prior to the tragic passing of Taylor Hawkins***
As a movie site, it’s not every day we get the opportunity to interview famous musical artists, and in truth, true rock ‘n roll superstars. But if they go and make a movie, our chances are somewhat heightened. Thankfully for us, the Foo Fighters have created Studio 666, a comedy horror flick where the band play themselves, and after a theatrical run it’s now available to watch at home.
To mark this occasion, we spoke to frontman Dave Grohl, alongside bandmate Nate Mendel, about the origins of this project, and what it was like for the band to star in a piece of cinema. Following on from the themes in the film, we also speak about writer’s block – and if they’ve ever suffered, and they also tell us about their...

“Good Mourning,” the feature-length directorial debut of pop-punk musicians Colson Baker (better known as his stage name Machine Gun Kelly) and Mod Sun, has set its U.S. theatrical and Tvod release for May 20.

Baker plays movie star London Ransom, whose world is turned upside down when he receives a break up text from the love of his life on the day of the most important meeting of his career. “Compounded by chaotic roommates and wildly unpredictable twists and turns, London’s day keeps going downhill until ultimately, he is forced to choose between pursuing his one true love and landing a life-changing, starring role in a major motion picture,” the film’s plot description reads.

"Studio 666" always has its tongue in its cheek. The horror-comedy, in which Dave Grohl becomes possessed and devours the rest of the Foo Fighters, never takes itself seriously in the slightest. The jokes and kills go big. Maybe beneath the grilling, the cannibalism, and the band's infighting over a never-ending song, there's a story about the fear of losing your friends or band mates and, as a result, yourself. It's a story older than rock and roll.
For "Midnight Meat Train" screenwriter Jeff Buhler and comedy writer Rebecca Hughes, it's simply a party movie, not a meditation on morality and the creative...

Uncharted Cements Tom Holland's Movie Star Status While Cyrano And Studio 666 Bomb At The Box Office
It was a semi-quite weekend at the box office, all things considered. The only new wide release was the Foo Fighters' horror flick "Studio 666," while the same three movies from last weekend repeated atop the box office, with Tom Holland's "Uncharted" winning the day. A painful lesson or two was learned, a movie star cemented his status in the current Hollywood landscape, and it was pretty much the calm before the storm. Let us not forget that "The Batman" arrives this weekend, which is pretty much all we'll be talking about throughout March. Let's dig into...

It is the quiet before the bat storm, and as we are one week out from the latest reboot of the Batman franchise, no big studio thought it wise to go wide with any of their titles. The top five is identical to last weekend, and the second weekend holdovers Uncharted and Dog both held on strong with less than 50 drops. The only fully wide new release was the Foo Fighters’ horror/comedy Studio 666 from Open Road, but with just 1.5 million it fell short of the top five, and the other notable newcomer, United Artists’ Cyrano, was right behind it with 1.4 million from 797 theaters.
As expected, Sony’s adventure film Uncharted took the top spot with ease in its second weekend, grossing an additional 23.3 million, roughly 10 of that coming from IMAX. With a 47 drop, the video game adaptation held stronger in its second week than any of 2021’s 50+ million...

Next week and not a minute too soon, Warner Bros. will open “The Batman.” With no new major titles, grosses this weekend totaled $63 million.
In 2020, when business operated as usual through February, only two weekends grossed under $100 million. The worst was Super Bowl weekend at $80 million. This year has had no weekend over $100 million, but that will change next week. “The Batman” opening will be the year’s first major breakout with $125 million or more. It isn’t likely to reach the heights of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” but it is critically important that it exhibit serious heft to restore much-needed momentum for theaters’ recovery.
The weekend represented 65 percent of the same weekend in 2020, but even that represents an improvement over much of 2022. Our rolling four-week comparison to 2020 rose to 63 percent.

With no new releases coming this weekend in anticipation of the release of “The Batman” on March 4, Sony/Columbia’s “Uncharted” has continued to perform well at the box office with a second weekend total of $23.2 million.
That result is a drop of just 46% from the film’s $44 million 3-day opening last weekend, giving “Uncharted” a 10-day domestic box office total of $83.3 million. While it is expected to see its numbers significantly drop once “The Batman” is released, “Uncharted” has gained a foothold with young, male moviegoers worldwide, with Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman declaring the film a new franchise in an internal memo this past week.
Also holding decently in its second weekend is MGM/FilmNation’s “Dog” with $10.1 million, giving it a 10-day box office total of $30.9 million against a $15 million production budget. As we noted earlier this week on WrapPRO, “Dog” has done a much better job...

It’s (still) good to be Tom Holland.
The 25-year-old actor has been all-but-singlehandedly propelling ticket sales at North American movie theaters, leading two films in the top three spots on domestic box office charts. Over the weekend, his action-adventure “Uncharted” repeated No. 1 as his comic book epic “Spider-Man: No Way Home” followed closely behind in third place.
“Uncharted,” Sony’s long-in-the-works video game adaptation, brought in $23.2 million from 4,275 domestic venues in its second weekend of release, representing a 46% decline in revenues from its $44 million debut. That brings its domestic total to $83.3 million. For big-budget tentpoles, which tend to be front-loaded in terms of box office grosses, a 50% drop is standard. But making the hold for “Uncharted” a little more impressive, the film did not enjoy the rapturous reviews that greeted “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” meaning Holland’s star-power likely had a hand in selling movie stubs. It helps that...

Sunday Am Writethru: after Saturday post Before a big tentpole comes into the marketplace, there’s typically a lull at the box office. But it’s an even bigger lull when the major studios don’t have any new wide entries. Everyone is waiting for Warner Bros. The Batman next weekend, and many sources tell me it’s bound easily for a $100M+ opening, in fact $115M+, and the advance ticket sales are there to prove that.
This despite the 3-hour running time, and from what I hear (I haven’t seen it yet) is a more noir, detective story by director Matt Reeves than Christopher Nolan’s previous Dark Knight action-infused movies. iSpot shows Warner Bros. having already spent $28M+ in US TV spots (that’s even a big number from that data agency’s Pov) across such shows as the Winter Olympics, NFL, Good Morning America, NBA games and Big Brother: Celebrity Edition.

To twist the words of Gotham City District Attorney Harvey Dent, it’s always darkest before the dawn, especially at the box office. North American theaters are having a quiet weekend led by holdover releases ahead of the big kahuna on the horizon in Warner Bros.’ “The Batman.” With the Dark Knight’s rise still a few days away, Sony’s “Uncharted” has an easy path to staying on top of domestic charts in its second weekend.
The adaptation of Sony’s series of PlayStation games is holding well, with the studio projecting a $23 million gross for its sophomore outing. That’s a 45% drop from its $44 million opening — a debut that already beat initial expectations. Big-budget spectacles and adaptations of well-known properties can tend to be front-loaded in terms of box office grosses, so a drop of less than 50% is a marked victory for “Uncharted.” Last weekend, the Tom Holland...

This weekend, Bj McDonnell’s throwback horror comedy Studio 666 invaded theaters exclusively and features the Foo Fighters squaring off against the forces of evil inhabiting a creepy Encino mansion as they work to finish up their tenth studio album.
During a recent press day for Studio 666, Daily Dead had the chance to chat with members of the Foo Fighters, including Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Rami Jaffee and Nate Mendel, during a roundtable interview where the group chatted about embarking on their very first movie project, influences behind Studio 666, some of the film’s gnarly kills, their thoughts on several of their co-stars, and more.
**Slight Spoiler Warning: While none of what is discussed here reveals much about the plot of the movie, several kills and a notable surprise cameo are discussed briefly here, which some readers might consider to be a little on the spoilery side. Just...

It’s a tale of two underdogs at this weekend’s UK-Ireland box office. Roger Michell’s The Duke goes up against Joe Wright’s Cyrano as both make their debuts.
The Duke is Michell’s final feature – the Notting Hill and Venus director passed away in September of last year – and is based on the true story of Kempton Bunton, the Newcastle cab driver who in 1965 appeared at the Old Bailey for stealing Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington from London’s National Gallery...
