It’s official: There will no longer be an all Law & Order Thursday night on NBC. For its fifth season, Law & Order: Organized Crime is moving to the streaming service, Peacock. That breaks it up from airing Thursday nights after Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, which also means that chances are there won’t be many (if any) crossovers. And of course, that leads to the inevitable question of what that means for the will they/won’t they slow burn of Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Svu‘s Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay). Organized Crime was created by Dick Wolf, Matt Olmstead, and Ilene Chaiken. It follows the detectives of the Organized Crime Control Bureau as they take on New York City’s most vicious and violent criminal syndicates. It brought Meloni back to the world of Law & Order in 2021, via a two-part crossover with...

Cardi B addressed the backlash she has been receiving on social media since the Met Gala on Monday.
During an interview with Emma Chamberlain for Vogue at fashion’s biggest night, the rapper was asked who designed her massive black gown, which took up the entire landing of the carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Sensen Lii for Windowsen spent two months working on the gown, so when she couldn’t remember his name, people felt she was disrespecting the designer.
“I feel amazing,” Cardi said on the Met Gala carpet, before pausing for a moment and adding, “It’s this amazing designer. They’re Asian and everything.”
In response to the backlash, the “Up” artist posted a video on Instagram, per Entertainment Tonight, that has now expired and is circulating on Twitter (formerly X).
“I want to make this very clear, right, first thing’s first,” she began the two-minute-plus video.

John Malkovich has joined Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four” in an undisclosed role, Variety has confirmed. The veteran actor joins Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Marvel’s First Family, along with Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal, a version of the Silver Surfer, and Paul Walter Hauser.

The Biebers have a baby on the way.
Justin Bieber, 30, and his model-turned-beauty mogul wife, Hailey Bieber, 27, confirmed that they are expecting their first child together with a video and series of images shared on Instagram today. The first piece of content in a carousel shared to Hailey’s 51.2 million followers showed the couple embracing and kissing during a vow renewal ceremony today in Hawaii at which they are both wearing Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello. (Hailey is a longtime Saint Laurent ambassador.)
The model and Rhode founder is wearing a white lace dress and head covering in the video clip, which was followed by a series of images showing off her baby bump. In one shot, the pop superstar cradles his wife’s stomach, and in another he is photographing her on a hill as she displays her pregnancy. In lieu of a caption, Hailey just tagged her husband’s Ig handle.

John Leguizamo is reflecting on the roles that got away.
In an interview with Business Insider, the actor was asked about movies he’s turned down that he now regrets. “Oh yeah, The Devil Wears Prada, the Stanley Tucci part [as Nigel],” Leguizamo revealed.
Other roles he regrets saying no to were parts in Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Happy Feet.
“I had my reasons,” said Leguizamo. “I mean, they’re stupid, but I had my reasons.”
When asked to elaborate further, he explained that he turned down the role of Brad Pitt’s character’s best friend, Eddie, in Mr. and Mrs. Smith because Pitt and Angelina Jolie were each getting $20 million while he would be paid on scale. “I felt dissed, and they probably weren’t dissing me, but I felt dissed,” he said.

Per an official logline, “The Eden Express” follows “Mark’s 1970 quest alongside his girlfriend Virge, leaving his famous father’s [Kurt Vonnegut] house in Nixon’s America to go west in search of a better way of life on a British Columbia commune — ‘Eden’ on earth. Comedian Andrew Schulz revealed on the “Flagrant” interview series that he was instructed not to make jokes at Netflix’s Tom Brady roast related to Robert Kraft’s 2019 arrest for soliciting prostitution in a Florida massage parlor. Charges against Kraft were dropped the following year. When Kraft’s attendance was confirmed at the event, roasters were allegedly told not to make jokes about “happy endings” in relation to the Patriots owners.
“When Tom checked Jeff Ross, I think that was 100% real,” Schulz said. “The reason why I think it’s real is because they told us no jokes about happy endings with Bob Kraft.

If Warner Bros. newly announced The Lord of the Rings movie idea The Hunt for Gollum sounded a bit like fan fiction, that’s because it already is.
There’s a 2009 fan-made film titled The Hunt for Gollum that you can watch below. The film, directed by Chris Bouchard, is rather ambitious. The Hunt for Gollum spans 39 minutes and received plenty of praise from fans upon its release. The short tells presumably the same story that’s going to be tackled in the upcoming feature film, which is being developed by producer Peter Jackson and his writing partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, who “will be involved every step of the way.” Andy Serkis is on board to direct and reprise his role as Gollum.

Paula Vogel’s Mother Play is Jessica Lange’s fourth Broadway show, among the many other film and television projects that have populated her decades-long career.
But unlike her past roles, in which she has put her own spin on well-known characters, such as Mary Tryone in Long Day’s Journey Into Night, she had a chance to do something different with this play: originate a part in a new piece of theater.
“I wasn’t nervous. I just honestly had no idea what to expect,” Lange said. “It was a great unknown to me.”
In the play, Lange takes on the role of Phyllis, mom to Carl, played by Jim Parsons, and Martha played by Celia Keenan-Bolger. The story, which is loosely based on the playwright’s own family life, follows the family through several decades, and several apartments, as Phyllis, a aesthetics-focused, gin-swilling force, grapples with her circumstances as a single mom,...

VFX icon and “Mad God” director Phil Tippett is working on a new stop-motion feature titled “Sentinel,” which will be pitched for the first time at this year’s Frontières section of Cannes’ Marché du Film.
Variety has been given exclusive access to the first plot details and set images from “Sentinel,” which shares a visual fidelity with “Mad God.” However, in terms of production, things will be very different this time around.
“Mad God” was a project that Tippett worked on off and on for thirty years. A similar timetable isn’t realistic for “Sentinel,” as the director would be over 100 at the film’s premiere. So, Tippett and producer Colin Geddes (Ultra 8 Pictures) say they’re pursuing a more conventional development and production plan with their new project, including a clearer narrative focus. While the New York courts decide whether convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein should return to California while he awaits a retrial for his overturned 2020 conviction, the former movie mogul will remain jailed in the Empire State, it was decided on Thursday.
The courts must decide if Weinstein, who was previously convicted on rape charges in two separate trials in New York and California, should stay in a New York jail while he awaits the retrial in the former rape case, which has been planned to begin after Labor Day; his conviction was overturned on April 25 in a shock 4-3 decision by the New York State Court of Appeals. The second option for the courts is to ship the 72-year-old back to California, where he would begin serving his 16-year prison sentence, which came after a dramatic 2022 trial in L.A.

Fewer tentpoles from the major studios after the dual Hollywood strikes didn’t stop Canadian exhibition giant Cineplex from bucking an industry trend and posting higher box office revenues in its first financial quarter of 2024.
Cineplex CEO Ellis Jacob gave credit to French-Canadian director Denis Villeneuve’s promotion for Dune: Part Two for his theater chain’s revenue rise to $125.1 million in its first quarter.
Jacob told The Hollywood Reporter that Cineplex and Warner Bros. partnered to bring Villeneuve and Dune star Timothée Chalamet to the Fairmount Cinema on Feb. 28 as the only stop in Canada on a promotional tour for the sequel.
“On the first weekend, the Fairmount Cinema and its Imax screen was the highest grossing theater in North America. That tells you when the team is behind it, the film does really well and he [Villeneuve] really put a lot of effort into it,” Jacob recalled.

With strong reviews and a projected opening weekend as high as $145 million worldwide, Wes Ball’s Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is poised to carry out a successful relaunch of the Apes franchise. The film picks up right where Rupert Wyatt and Matt Reeves’ reboot trilogy left off with War for the Planet of the Apes (2017), as Ball depicts Caesar’s (Andy Serkis) funeral before jumping multiple centuries ahead to a time where Caesar has become the stuff of legend.
In 2019, after his three Maze Runner films grossed nearly $1 billion on a $156 million spend, Ball was days away from production on 20th Century Fox’s Mouse Guard adaptation, but then the Disney-Fox merger abruptly canceled his ambitious mocap-centric project that counted Reeves and Serkis as producer and actor, respectively. However, later that year, Ball got a call from 20th’s longtime president of production,...

At the first-ever ComplexCon in Hong Kong, a scene all too familiar to avid followers of the pop-culture festival unfolded. Thousands of streetwear fanatics lined up for hours awaiting the event and tornadoed the Complex Marketplace upon entry. This crowd rushed to grab all the limited-release RichMilk Drips, Verdy x McDonald’s skate decks, and Clot Crocs they could. The law of scarcity rules the Complex land, and those with the signed Jeff Staple Panda Pigeon Dunks win.
To the uninitiated, the sheer madness that unfolds when the doors open drops jaws; to others who have followed the Long Beach, California-born gathering — known for its limited-edition merch and sneaker drops — since its 2016 inception, it’s just business as usual. In its debut international effort, ComplexCon attracted more than 30,000 people (from places including the U.S., Canada, the UK, Japan, Germany, South Korea, Taiwan, mainland China and Hong Kong) to Hong...

“Pam & Tommy” stars Sebastian Stan and Lily James will reunite to star in psychological horror thriller “Let the Evil Go West.”
The film sounds very different from Stan and James’ previous collaboration, which saw them playing Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson in a Hulu mini-series. In “Let the Evil Go West,” a railroad worker stumbles upon a fortune under deeply disturbing circumstances. As horrifying visions and manifestations drive him toward madness, his wife becomes convinced that an evil presence has attached itself to their family.
Christian Tafdrup is set to direct from a screenplay by Xc Vs. The film is produced by Tim and Trevor White (“King Richard”) under their Star Thrower Entertainment banner, Mark Fasano and Nathan Klingher for Gramercy Park Media, which is also financing the film, and Allan Mandelbaum. Stan and James will also executive produce along with Gramercy Park’s Joshua Harris and Ford Corbett and north.five.six.
