Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is an all-new take on our favorite Web-Head, an original animated series from Marvel Animation, independent from any version of the character that has come before. However, there is one twist that the creators of the show have inserted into the story which might propel it into the fan-favorite category, possibly surpassing X-Men ’97.
Spider-Man || Marvel Comics
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has a unique take on Spider-Man’s mentor, who has usually been an older superhero in one form or another. Be it Captain America in the comics or Tony Stark/Iron Man in the MCU, Spider-Man has always found himself under the wing of a superhero, who is impressed by his commitment to doing good in the community, and the grit that the character poses to do the right thing, despite all the odds being stacked against.

We just learned some web-tastic news at D23, when Marvel announced their upcoming animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Initially thought to be taking place in the MCU, the show was later announced to be a sort of multiverse show, like What If… ? But hold on! That’s not the most interesting thing about it. The real surprise came when they announced Colman Domingo would voice Norman Osborn.
Colman Domingo as Bayard Rustin in Rustin | Higher Ground Production
Created by Jeff Trammell, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will take the web-slinger back to high school and put a twist to the storyline. Exploring what it would be like if Norman Osborn was Peter Parker’s mentor, instead of Iron Man, the upcoming show is set to deliver some epic stuff. More than anything, with Colman Domingo playing Osborn aka Green Goblin, the show is set to have more eyes on it.

As the cast of Euphoria gears up to film the long-overdue Season 3, Colman Domingo has one thing on the mind.
The Academy Award nominee, who plays recovering drug addict Ali on the HBO series, said he’s “asking for my character to have sex” in the upcoming season, noting that he’s one of the few actors without a sex scene on the show.
“I would like to see – because I’m like, ‘These young kids are out there having all this kind of sex,’ and I’m like, ‘I think Ali needs to get some this season,'” Domingo said this week on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy. “I’d like to see what that is.”
His revelation came after host Andy Cohen asked, “Do you ever go to [creator] Sam Levinson and be like, ‘Hey dude, let my character counsel Jacob Elordi a little bit. Let me get in there with him?...

Colman Domingo still can’t believe he’s become a “54-year-old heartthrob,” all thanks to his role on Euphoria.
The Emmy-winning actor, who plays Rue’s (Zendaya) sponsor Ali on the hit HBO series, recently opened up to Jessica Shaw on SiriusXM’s The Spotlight about this newfound attention he’s received from the younger generation.
“It’s really kind of incredible,” Domingo said. “They’re like, ‘Oh my god, Ali!’ And usually what’s so sweet, they look at me and they want me to be their big brother, their father figure, their counselor or something.”
However, the Rustin star admitted he’s also experienced some wilder run-ins with younger fans.
“I was literally driving down the 405 in L.A. and a group of young girls kept looking at me and my husband was like, ‘Those girls are looking at you. Is something wrong?'” he recalled of the encounter.

Colman Domingo is an Emmy winner, as well as Academy Award and Tony-nominated actor, playwright and director. Domingo and Gossett Jr. co-starred in 2023’s “The Color Purple,” one of the late Oscar winner’s final films.

“Euphoria” star Storm Reid has acknowledged the recent news from HBO that filming of Season 3 on the Sam Levinson-created series has been put on hold, expressing optimism that the production will come together down the line.
“I would hope the viewers, the audience will be able to finish the show,” Reid tells Variety, speaking Thursday at the opening of USC’s School of Dramatic Arts’ Drama Center in Los Angeles. “I think we should handle the show with care. We’ve put our hearts and soul into it.”
News of the production delay was confirmed Monday. “HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” an HBO spokesperson told Variety at the time. “In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”
Asked if she was surprised by the delay, Reid said, “Yes and no. We would all hope to be able to go back tomorrow,...

It’s been a year — one in which Barbie pink dominated fashion, the box office and the Oscar red carpet, notably on America Ferrera, who glittered in a custom Atelier Versace sheath, courtesy of stylist Karla Welch. Lest we forget, a side effect of the SAG-AFTRA strike was red carpets being rolled up for four months — but not before Cardi B shut down the Met Ball in Chenpeng and Oppenheimer star Emily Blunt hit the London premiere (an hour early, so the cast could attend before the strike began) in Alexander McQueen, as selected by Jessica Paster. Post-strike, stars like Hunter Schafer, decked out in ethereal Prada as styled by Dara, came back shining more brightly than ever at the Golden Globes. And who doesn’t love a Hollywood icon comeback? The fashion world trumpeted Demi Moore, who wore a Balmain swan as procured by Brad Goreski to the Feud: Capote vs.

HBO’s hit controversial show Euphoria from the risqué maestro, Sam Levinson, has delayed the shoot for season 3. Levinson had planned to work on season 3 while his other series for HBO, Idol, was in post-production, but the dual strikes from the writers’ and actors’ unions would initially hold up the production. HBO’s Head of Drama Francesca Orsi said last year, “Euphoria is one of those that we had begun writing in tandem with post-production on Idol but at this point, we don’t have countless scripts. We can’t start shooting, so the delivery of that show — ideally in 2025 — will be determined on when we can pick back up with Sam [Levinson], who at this point is all pencils down and just finishing posts on Idol.“
Now HBO is telling Deadline that while Levinson tweaks the scripts for season 3, they are letting the stars take on other projects during the delay.

With creator Sam Levinson still working on scripts for the upcoming third season of HBO’s Euphoria, filming plans have been temporarily put on hold, with the cast given permission to take other acting jobs in the interim.

As Marvel Studios continues to run damage control on its cinematic universe after the court’s conviction of Jonathan Majors for assault charges, fans wonder what’s become of his pivotal villain character, Kang, in the MCU’s roadmap to re-establishing itself as a box office behemoth in the film industry. With Majors becoming box office poison, Marvel has little choice but to recast him as the Big Bad of the MCU’s current phase of cinematic spectacles. Reports about Marvel replacing Kang as the MCU’s overarching villain continue circulating. Still, industry insider Daniel Richtman says Marvel is sticking with Kang, though Majors is no longer a part of the plan.
According to Richtman, Marvel plans to keep Kang the Conqueror as the central villain of Avengers 5 and the follow-up Avengers: Secret Wars. Initially, Avengers 5 was titled The Kang Dynasty, but Marvel scrapped the title when Major’s conviction reached the courts.

Cillian Murphy is most definitely one of the top actors in all of Hollywood right now, for a wide variety of reasons. After all, Murphy has acted in quite a few distinct roles that set him apart from the rest.
Oppenheimer
Fans continue to be drawn by Cillian Murphy’s eyes and facial expressions, or lack thereof during key scenes in films, which further elevate him in any movie or series. He is always dedicated to his craft, which was apparent in his role in Oppenheimer. However, it appears Bradley Cooper underwent a rigorous training schedule to prepare for his role in Maestro, which was even more astounding than what Cillian Murphy did.

Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror was positioned to be the Thanos-level threat for the Multiverse Saga. However, given that Disney has cut all ties with the actor in the wake of his conviction, the race for who would be the next big Avengers antagonist has been thrown wide open.

There are two tiers of the conversation surrounding the fate of the main antagonist of the Multiverse Saga. Despite Kang Dynasty no longer being the title for Avengers 5, a certain number of fans are still sure that Marvel will simply recast Jonathan Majors and continue with their plans as they were, while another section of the fandom is busy speculating who would take Kang’s place as the new multiversal villain.

Greg Kwedar’s Sing Sing debuted at TIFF in 2023 to much buzz and an acquisition from A24. In the months since, its star, Colman Domingo, has become an Oscar nominee, which only caused the hype to grow even stronger. It earns every bit of the praise it has gotten, as it is one of the best-directed and best-performed films in years.
Based on a true story told in an Esquire article, Sing Sing chronicles the lives of a group of inmates in the Sing Sing Correctional Facility who participate in a drama program as part of their rehabilitation process. Although a few of the beats in the movie are somewhat conventional, the film oozes such deep humanity that it is impossible not to fall in love with it and its subjects.
The most impressive thing about Sing Sing — of which there are many — is the level of empathy with which it approaches its characters.

A movie can do so much. It can make you laugh. It can make you cry. Some movies can do both. Some movies can take you to a world unimaginable. Some can make you face the harsh realities of the world today. But the greatest of movies can do all of these things and leave you with something never before experienced.
Sing Sing is one of these films
Greg Kweder writes and directs the true story adaption of a prison reform group meant to use the art of theatre and performance to help rehabilitate a group of inmates.

It’s been a bustling, seemingly nonstop awards season, but Hollywood’s stars and stylists truly did save the best for last.
That’s the verdict from the red carpet at Oscars 2024, which served up a plethora of looks that were often dramatic, sometimes over-the-top and grand, and occasionally just simply dazzling. Among the night’s biggest fashion surprises: Margot Robbie eschewed her now-trademark pink in favor of a beautifully sculpted gown in deep brown by Versace — and it was America Ferrera who embraced Barbie’s signature color in a stunning pink chainmail dress, also by Versace.
Indeed, Robbie turned out to be prescient with her choice of color, as noir-hued gowns ruled the 2024 Oscars red carpet. Some were sleek and simple, like the Dolce & Gabbana gown worn by Jamie Lee Curtis, or they brought the drama, with Sandra Hüller’s Schiaparelli and Carey Mulligan’s ivory-accented black mermaid...

When Colman Domingo steps to the stage to introduce the SXSW premiere of his new film “Sing Sing” — a deeply affecting depiction of the Rehabilitation Through the Arts program at the titular maximum security prison in New York — he gets a standing ovation before a second of the film has screened. That might be in part because, less than 48 hours later, Domingo will be stepping inside the Dolby Theater for the 96th Academy Awards, nominated for his performance as civil rights activist Bayard Rustin in “Rustin.”
This wasn’t even the world premiere for “Sing Sing” — that was at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, where A24 scooped it up for a theatrical release this July. But as Domingo explains to Variety following the film’s screening at SXSW — where the film received another, much longer standing ovation — there was never any question for him about whether he would attend.

The 2024 Oscar nominees for Best Actor are Bradley Cooper (“Maestro”), Colman Domingo (“Rustin”), Paul Giamatti (“The Holdovers”), Cillian Murphy (“Oppenheimer”), and Jeffrey Wright (“American Fiction”). Murphy (16/5) is favored to win by our odds, followed in order by Giamatti (18/5), Cooper (9/2), Wright (9/2), and Domingo (9/2).
Whereas last year’s lead male lineup was the first in almost nine decades to consist entirely of Oscars newcomers, this one includes three rookies and two general veterans. Standing alone in having already competed for this specific award is Cooper, who was previously recognized for “Silver Linings Playbook” (2013), “American Sniper” (2015), and “A Star Is Born” (2019). Since he personally helmed both “A Star Is Born” and “Maestro,” he is now the fourth person to direct himself to multiple acting nominations, following Laurence Olivier, Warren Beatty, and Clint Eastwood.

As we wind down this year’s Oscar season, we at Gold Derby are already looking forward to next year’s. Clearly, we can’t get enough. But next year’s Academy Awards season could also concern this year’s as the Oscars afterglow effect could be in full force. Actors can often garner a quick follow-up nomination after breaking through in the nominations list the year prior. Eddie Redmayne accomplished this when he followed up his 2015 Best Actor win for “The Theory of Everything” with a 2016 Best Actor bid for “The Danish Girl.” Similarly, Octavia Spencer was nominated for Best Supporting Actress two years in a row — in 2017 for “Hidden Figures” and in 2018 for “The Shape of Water.” So, which of these year’s acting nominees could return next year? Let’s take a look.
Best Actor
Bradley Cooper has an exciting project that should be out in time for next year’s Oscars.

Last year, all four acting Oscars were taken home by first-time nominees. Michelle Yeoh (Best Actress), Jamie Lee Curtis (Best Supporting Actress), and Ke Huy Quan (Best Supporting Actor) all won for “Everything Everywhere All at Once” while Brendan Fraser claimed Best Actor for “The Whale.” This was a historical achievement as the last time this happened was back in 2006 when Philip Seymour Hoffman (Best Actor for “Capote”), Reese Witherspoon (Best Actress for “Walk the Line”), George Clooney (Best Supporting Actor “Syriana”), and Rachel Weisz (Best Supporting Actress for “The Constant Gardener”) all won on their first nominations.
But while it’s unlikely for all four acting categories to go to newbies, what about each individual acting category? Well, we’ve broken down each acting category and examined every acting winner of the last 20 years to see which category is most likely to award newbies and which is most reluctant to.

Marvel Studios has a lot of course-correcting ahead of it. The company is recovering from a year of flops, and with the exception of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Loki Season 2, even their loyal fans have not received the rest of their projects well in the past year or so. Disney CEO Bob Iger has addressed that the studio has previously concentrated more on quantity instead of quality and has vowed to pull back on the amount of project output so the movies and TV shows do not suffer. He has recently even admitted that Disney has secretly “killed a few projects already that we just didn’t feel were strong enough.”
Another big looming shadow on the company is the controversial case of the once rising star, Jonathan Majors. Majors was let go from Marvel as Kang when he was found guilty in his assault case and...

Colman Domingo uses the performing arts to connect with fellow inmates in the first trailer for the A24 drama Sing Sing.
Director Greg Kwedar’s feature is set to hit theaters in July after premiering at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. Sing Sing focuses on the real-life Rehabilitation Through the Arts (Rta) program that allows prisoners at New York’s Sing Sing Correctional Facility to produce and act in their own stage projects. The movie stars Domingo and Paul Raci alongside a cast comprised mostly of formerly incarcerated actors, many of whom previously participated in Rta.
Sing Sing follows the real-life friendship between inmates John “Divine G” Whitfield (Domingo) and Clarence “Divine Eye” Maclin, who plays himself, as the group works to put together an original production entitled Breakin’ the Mummy’s Code. The movie is based on author John H. Richardson’s 2005 Esquire article “The Sing Sing...

Natalie Portman and Pedro Pascal recently shared the same space for a promotional video with actor Colman Domingo. The trio of actors answered a series of questions in the video while showcasing some hilarious banter. During the interaction, the group discussed whether they had ever been mistaken for another actor or actress.
Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller in The Last of Us
Portman was the first to answer the question with an expected response. However, it was Pascal who left fans laughing out loud with his hilarious response. Pascal had the most unexpected answer for being mistaken for another celebrity, which even surprised Portman and Domingo. Here is how Portman and Pascal answered the question in their own way.

In less than a decade, A24 has become one of the industry’s most reliable awards magnets, with Best Picture wins for “Moonlight” and “Everything Everywhere All At Once” and multiple Best Picture nominations – including this year for the 2023 films “Past Lives” and “The Zone of Interest.” So it would perhaps be wise to leave a space on the 2025 Oscars ballot for “Sing Sing.” The acclaimed film – which A24 acquired after it debuted at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival – is out in theaters this summer, and if the newly released and emotional trailer is any indication, it should be a strong contender in numerous top categories.
Out in July, the film focuses on a Sing Sing prison inmate named Divine G (current Best Actor nominee Colman Domingo), who is incarcerated for a crime he didn’t commit and “finds purpose by acting in a theatre group alongside other incarcerated men,...

The trailer for uplifting drama Sing Sing has arrived ahead of its July theatrical release.
“To die. To sleep. To dream.” In the trailer for the movie, we see Colman Domingo’s character, who is facing 25 years to life at the infamous New York prison, heavily involved with the small theater within the walls, giving hope to those who take part in its productions.
Here is the official plot for the film, as per A24: “A theater troupe finds escape from the realities of incarceration through the creativity of putting on a play in this film based on a real-life rehabilitation program and featuring a cast that includes formerly incarcerated actors.”
Leading the cast is Colman Domingo, who had one heck of a 2023, earning Oscar, Golden Globe and SAG nominations for his tremendous performance in Rustin, as well as lending his voice to DreamWorks’ Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken, turning...

With a major last 12 months, starring in half a dozen films and receiving an Oscar nomination, Colman Domingo’s best performance of the bunch is in Greg Kwedar’s drama Sing Sing. A TIFF premiere that was picked up by A24 for a release this July, the film follows a theater troupe that finds escape from the realities of incarceration through the creativity of putting on a play. Based on a real-life rehabilitation program and featuring a cast that includes formerly incarcerated actors, the first trailer has now arrived ahead of its SXSW U.S. premiere.

Colman Domingo is on a remarkable run, and ahead of Oscar night and his nomination for “Rustin,” A24 has released the first trailer for his next moving drama, “Sing Sing.”
Greg Kwedar directed “Sing Sing,” which follows the true story of a leader of a theater troupe in prison and how they use acting to escape the realities of their incarceration, putting on a play all while Domingo’s character is seeking parole. The film is based on a real-life rehabilitation program, and the movie even features a cast that includes formerly incarcerated actors.
Domingo leads the cast that also includes Paul Raci, an Oscar nominee for “Sound of Metal.” And A24, which picked up the film out of last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, has announced it is eyeing a theatrical release this July for the movie. It will have its U.S. premiere at the SXSW Film festival on Friday.

Euphoria fans have been waiting for new episodes for over two years, and the delay shows no signs of slowing down soon.
Colman Domingo, who plays Ali on the HBO drama, is opening up about the reason behind the delay, and it’s not what you think.
While many thought the burgeoning careers of stars like Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, and Sydney Sweeney were behind the delays, the Fear the Walking Dead alum claims it’s all down to series creator Sam Levinson.
“[Sam is] a person who writes and rewrites and writes and rewrites again, because I think he’s wrestling with what’s important,” Domingo told GQ in a new interview.
“He’s responding immediately to what the ills of the world are. I know that the one thing I can tell you is that he’s very much interested in the existential question of who we are right now.

Jonathan Majors first appeared in the MCU as Victor Timely in 2021, and later as Kang the Conqueror in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” in 2023. This movie kicked off Phase 5, starting the Multiverse Saga. However, “Quantumania” didn’t do too well. To make matters worse, right after the movie came out, Majors, who played the new main villain for the upcoming MCU phases, was arrested.
He was accused of hitting someone in the face, causing a cut behind their ear, and grabbing their hand and neck, which supposedly led to a bruised neck and a broken finger. Although Majors’ lawyers said these accusations were false, he was still found guilty and Disney fired him.
Now, there’s a lot of talk about who might replace him, with some saying the character Doom might take over as the main villain, and others suggesting that the “Kang Dynasty” movie might be dropped. The...

Jonathan Majors debuted in the MCU as Victor Timely back in 2021, and then as Kang the Conqueror in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ in 2023 in what was the first movie of Phase 5, also known as the beginning of the Multiverse Saga. ‘Quantumania’ wasn’t exactly successful, adding insult to injury, soon after the release of the blockbuster movie, the actor behind the villain who was supposed to mark the next few phases of the MCU was arrested.
According to the charges, Majors allegedly struck the alleged victim ‘about the face with an open hand, causing substantial pain and a laceration behind her ear.’ He also allegedly grabbed her hand and neck, causing bruising on the neck and a broken finger. And while his lawyers quickly provided evidence that such a thing never took place, the case was far from over, and Majors was eventually found guilty and fired by Disney.

Plot: Two young women, fleeing heartbreak, embark on an impromptu road trip to Tallahassee. Unfortunately for them, the drive-away car they sign for happens to have some precious cargo being sought by deadly parties.
Review: As a lifelong fan of the Coen Bros, it’s a drag for me to say that Drive Away Dolls is a bit of a dud. Granted, it’s apparently “trying” to be bad, with it a gay-themed take on B-movies, but it’s so winking and self-aware that it feels more like an extended episode of Showtime’s cheesy Rebel Highway series from the nineties than a real movie. Running just a hair over eighty minutes, it feels like little more than a lark for one-half of one of the greatest directing duos ever. For some, that’s reason enough to make it worth seeing, but despite some inspired moments, it largely falls flat.

After a year hit with Hollywood strikes and an early buzz positioning Christopher Nolan’s drama about the creation of the atomic bomb as a frontrunner, sentiments from more than a dozen Oscar voters on the first day of final voting revealed a strong backing for Nolan. “Nolan fucking deserves it,” an anonymous voter emphasizes to Variety, highlighting the widespread acclaim for Nolan’s direction and billion-dollar blockbuster.
Furthermore, Robert Downey Jr., a nominee for supporting actor, appears to be a strong frontrunner for his first Oscar, with a significant majority of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) voters indicating their support for him.
It’s important to note that many voters interviewed have yet to cast their ballots, and plan to do so over the weekend after watching more films. Also, this is merely a small sample of the nearly 10,000 eligible AMPAS voters. Nonetheless, Sandra Hüller...

Danielle Brooks is tired. For a very good reason.
She’s in Los Angeles for the SAG Awards after a 13-hour flight from New Zealand, where she’s spent the last month shooting the movie adaptation of the popular video game “Minecraft” with Jack Black and Jason Momoa.
“I have absolutely no clue what today is,” she says, laughing, Thursday morning while promoting her new SAG Awards partnership with Campari.
Brooks goes into the SAG Awards as a nominee for female actor in a supporting role for her work as Sofia in “The Color Purple” as well as for outstanding cast for the movie. This isn’t Brooks’ first-time at the SAG Awards. She’s won three statuettes as part of the “Orange Is the New Black” ensemble. “For the fourth time we were nominated, they said, ‘Danielle, you could give the acceptance speech this time.’ And then we didn’t get it!

After Jonathan Majors’ court trial resulted in the jury finding him guilty on two charges – one for assault and one for harassment – the actor was dropped by Marvel Studios. Needless to say, fans are now left wondering which actor will be taking on the mantle next, and the answer may be Colman Domingo.

Although many parts of the country are still in the “deep freeze”, many folks are looking ahead to the big thaw and traveling during Spring Break. And it’s only natural that the multiplex will have a new roadtrip romp to get everyone “in the mood”. Oh, but this film differs from those we’ve seen in previous years. First, it’s set in that far-off land of 1999. And rather than a couple of teenage male buddies (or even a group as in Losin’ It), it’s focused on two twenty-something young women. Perhaps, it’s a riff on Where The Boys Are, and you would be very wrong as they don’t care about such a location (ahem). Plus it should be of interest to Cinephiles as this is the first solo directing effort for one half of a much-lauded filmmaking team. He’s actually behind the steering wheel along with these Drive-away Dolls.

Beanie Feldstein, Margaret Qualley, Geraldine Viswanathan, Tricia Cooke and Ethan Coen celebrated the premiere of their upcoming queer comedy, Drive-Away Dolls, in New York City on Tuesday night.
The film follows two women, played by Viswanathan and Qualley, as they embark on a road trip to Tallahassee, Florida, but things quickly go awry when they come across a group of inept criminals. Husband-and-wife duo Coen and Cooke co-wrote the script in the early 2000s and tried to get it made then, but struggled with studios wanting to back a lesbian comedy at the time.
“It’s like, what was it that works now that didn’t work then? It’s a lesbian road comedy,” Coen told The Hollywood Reporter at the premiere. “It’s a gay-themed thing that was more difficult to do then. We couldn’t get it done then. People are more receptive to that, it’s less...
