Howard Franklin’s absorbing tale of the New York underworld is told from the point of view of a night-prowling shutterbug who documents life on the streets, from the swanky nightclubs to gangland killings on the cold sidewalks. Joe Pesci has his most endearing role in a part suggested by the famous photographer Weegee, a small man with artistic ambitions for his ‘found photos’ of party revelers and bloody corpses. Is Barbara Hershey’s club owner using him for selfish purposes? What happens if the hoods suddenly regard him as a hindrance, instead of a boost to their egos? The colorful production elicits a richly atmospheric image of New York in wartime. The biggest surprise: Pesci’s dialogue is all PG-rated! (The movie itself is an ‘R’.) With David Gianapoulos, Jared Harris, Stanley Tucci and Jerry Adler.

Jennifer Hudson commands r-e-s-p-e-c-t in this first-look footage of the singer/actress in character as Aretha Franklin for MGM’s upcoming biopic Respect.
In the brief teaser, Hudson-as Franklin, in glittery gold gown, is shown backlit on stage as those first instantly recognizable words – ‘What you want baby I got it” – tear through the empty auditorium. Though only 44 seconds long, the clip suggests that Hudson does a very fine Aretha impression while infusing at least a little of her own singing style into the interpretation.
The feature film (not to be confused with Nat Geo’s upcoming Genius: Aretha series starring Cynthia Erivo) follows the rise of Franklin’s career from singing as a child in her father’s church’s choir to international superstardom.

In 1813, renowned writer Jane Austen published a book called Pride and Prejudice, which tells the story of the Bennet sisters, who are gussied up and married off to wealthy suitors, one by one. The only sister who seems to question this system is Elizabeth, the rebellious member of the family, who feels strong disdain for the system that treats her more like property than a proper citizen. In 2009, author Seth Grahame-Smith put a new twist on the old tale by creating a parody novel called Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which loosely follows the same basic outline, but adds an entirely different obstacle to the tale: the living dead.
In Grahame-Smith’s story, the girls are not only fighting for the right to be married into regal families, but also battling for their lives on a daily basis. An outbreak has occurred within these humble streets, and now flesh-eating zombies...

Following the massive success of Game Of Thrones, it was inevitable that actress Emilia Clarke (best known for portraying Daenerys Targaryen in the series) would begin making her rounds in Hollywood in a variety of genres. Unfortunately, Terminator: Genisys didn't really turn out too well, and the film's sequels have been put on hold until further notice. Though in addition to booking within the genre of action films, Clarke has also turned to making more low-key, emotional flicks like Me Before You.

Warner Bros. has officially announced that The Apparition will be released to Blu-ray/DVD next month. Surprisingly, they aren’t releasing it early enough to take advantage of possible Black Friday sales, and it won’t hit shelves until November 27th. At this time, there are no bonus feature listed, except for the Ultraviolet digital copy, so this may be a bare bones release.
The Apparition was directed by Todd Lincoln, starred Ashley Greene, and was originally released to theaters on August 24th.
“When frightening events start to occur in their home, young couple Kelly (Ashley Greene) and Ben (Sebastian Stan) discover they are being haunted by a presence that was accidentally conjured during a university parapsychology experiment. The horrifying apparition feeds on their fear and torments them no matter where they try to run. Their last hope is an expert in the supernatural, Patrick (Tom Felton), but even with...

As the year draws to a close, Warner Bros. is beginning to look forward, as they’ve provided a few new images and synopses for choice options in their 2012 slate. This crop, only a small portion of their offerings for the next twelve months, consists of Bullet to the Head, Rock of Ages, Project X, and The Apparition. Nothing exhibited here is a big revelation for those who’ve been following the films for a few months — although I did learn that a movie titled “The Apparition” is coming out — but a new picture or two never hurt anybody. Now, let’s get down to business.

Thanks to a tipoff from Hey U Guys, I can confirm that the Ricky Gervais/Stephen Merchant-written Cemetary Junction begins principal photography today!
Cemetary Junction is the first feature film to star Ricky Gervais (The Office, Extras) and paves the way for Ricky Gervais’ Flanimals, the animated movie based on his books of the same name.
In 1970s England, three blue-collar friends spend their days joking, drinking, fighting and chasing girls. Freddie (Christian Cooke) wants to leave their working-class world but cool, charismatic Bruce (Tom Hughes) and lovable loser Snork (Jack Doolan) are happy with life the way it is. When Freddie gets a new job as a door-to-door salesman and bumps into his old school sweetheart Julie (Felicity Jones), the gang are forced to make choices that will change their lives for ever.
The film is produced by Sue Baden-Powell and Charlie Hanson, executive producing are Gervais and Merchant.
