Who Makes Cedric the Entertainer Laugh? Get a Pen
He has spent most of his life trying to make other people laugh. But what — and who — makes Cedric the Entertainer chuckle?

There’s no quick answer for the former State Farm claims adjuster, who cites Eddie Murphy movies such as “Coming to America,” Jerry Seinfeld’s observational humor, “Key and Peele,” his fellow comedy tour pals and up-and-comers such as Lil Duval as people and performances that make him laugh. ‘Eighth Grade’ reviews: Critically hailed Sundance hit could turn out to be a middle-school ‘Lady Bird’

‘Eighth Grade’ reviews: Critically hailed Sundance hit could turn out to be a middle-school ‘Lady Bird’
Eighth Grade” opened on July 13 — Friday the 13th, though that doesn’t appear to be bad luck for the film, which has received some of the year’s best reviews. The film boasts a score of 90 on MetaCritic and a 98% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s early yet to declare surefire Oscar contenders, but given its acclaim and “poignant,” “empathetic” point-of-view, it looks like it has the potential to be a middle-school “Lady Bird.”

This is the feature writing and directing debut of 27-year-old comedian Bo Burnham, who has previously appeared as an actor in “The Big Sick” and as a guest star on shows like “Parks and Recreation” and “Key and Peele,” in addition to his stand-up comedy. He has directed two of his own TV comedy specials as well as additional specials for Jerrod Carmichael and Chris Rock.

Now he has gone behind the camera for this

10 Tommy Boy Facts You Never Knew

10 Tommy Boy Facts You Never Knew
Holy Schnikes! Not a day goes by that we don't miss the late Chris Farley and we couldn't count how many times we've quoted Tommy Boy, with David Spade, Brian Dennehy, Rob Lowe, Bo Derek, Dan Akroyd, and of course, Herbie Hancock. Here we'll take a look at 10 things you never knew about Tommy Boy.

The working titles were awful

Imagine if Tommy Boy had been called Billy the Third: A Midwestern. Thankfully, Saturday Night Live boss Lorne Michaels had Billy Madison happening around the same time, so that title was scrapped. Other near misses included Fat Chance and Xl. In a 2015 interview with Consequence of Sound, director Peter Segal said the only scene to survive from the Billy the Third script was the part where Farley changes in the airplane bathroom. Segal had worked with Farley on an HBO special and an episode of The Jackie Thomas Show, where Chris played Tom Arnold's brother.

Will Ferrell joins Netflix for a comedy movie based around the Eurovision Song Contest

Will Ferrell is set to become the latest A-list comedy actor to lead a Netflix feature film, having signed on to star in Eurovision for the streaming service.

Ferrell will also write the movie, based around the Eurovision Song Contest, with fellow Saturday Night Live alum Andrew Steele. His regular collaborator Adam McKay is on board as an executive producer.

Deadline broke the news of the movie, which they speculate might be a deliberate attempt to appeal to an audience outside of the USA. It is obviously those in Europe who will be more familiar with the eponymous competition.

Ferrell’s move to Netflix puts him into the same area as the likes of Adam Sandler and Chris Rock, who have found the streaming service to be a lucrative home for their work.

R-rated comedies in Hollywood have struggled for box office dollars in recent years, so it’s understandable

Leslie Jones Breaks Down the Differences in Playing Condoleezza Rice, Omarosa and Herself on ‘SNL’

Leslie Jones Breaks Down the Differences in Playing Condoleezza Rice, Omarosa and Herself on ‘SNL’
Leslie Jones does not consider herself a comedienne who does impressions. In fact, when Chris Rock first called her to tell her he got her an audition for “Saturday Night Live,” she says her response was “What the f— did you do that for!?” because dressing up like other people was just never something she did.

“I’m myself, and myself is f—ing funny enough,” she tells Variety.

Still, taking the job on NBC’s late night sketch comedy series has required her to try on a whole bunch of different characters, from the fictional (such as Shondra of

Marc Maron: ‘I’m familiar with coke, anger, bullying, selfishness’

The Glow star and hit podcaster talks drugs, divorces and his ‘horrible’ feud with Jon Stewart

The night before I meet Marc Maron, I go to his standup show in London. These days Maron is best known for his hugely popular podcast, Wtf with Marc Maron, which he started in 2009, and on which he has interviewed everyone from Barack Obama to Keith Richards and Chris Rock. He conducts most of the interviews from his garage in La, and they are almost always revealing and always entertaining. In 2010, Robin Williams talked about his depression and addictions, four years before he killed himself. Obama talked about the racism and African American stereotypes that shaped his sense of self. Wtf now gets 7m downloads a month.

But in the 90s, when I first discovered him, Maron was not known for his empathetic dialogues; rather, he was seen as an aggressive monologuer. Back then,

Doc Corner: 'Nanette' Will Be a Defining Work of 2018

Rarely do stand-up comedy sets gain the sort of immediate notoriety that has greeted Hannah Gadsby’s Nanette. The comedian, writer and some-time actor who is probably best known to American audiences for Please Like Me (at least the few who actually watched it) has become a rare Australian exclusive for Netflix who are releasing Nanette alongside an ever-growing roster of stand-up comedy. It would be easy for this one to slide between the cracks of the streaming service’s much larger names. Who is Gadsby to non-Australian audiences anyway and why should they watch her? What about Nanette means it deserves to cut through the chaos especially when she comes across as so hostile towards the medium itself?

Well, for starters, to call Nanette a mere stand-up comedy special would be to do it a great disservice. As funny as it is, it isn’t the sort of work

Chris Rock to Obamas: "Make Your Money," but Not on Netflix

Barack and Michelle Obama's new deal to produce for Netflix has at least one longtime supporter a tad perturbed.

"I don't want to live in a world where President Obama is worried about his Rotten Tomatoes score," says Chris Rock, who two years ago signed a reported $40 million deal with the streamer for a pair of stand-up specials and who recently starred opposite Adam Sandler in the Netflix film The Week Of.

"I want him above that at all times. Make your money, but I don't want [him] to be involved with that."...

Kanye West Name Drops Stormy Daniels (and Not His Bff Donald Trump) on New Album

We wonder if Donald Trump is currently listening to Kanye West's new album — where he casually name drops his former mistress Stormy Daniels. The Potus is not mentioned in any of the seven new tracks on Ye but the rapper did call out the famous porn star in his new song "All Mine." "If I pull up with a Kerry Washington, that’s gon’ be an enormous scandal / I could have Naomi Campbell and still might want me a Stormy Daniels," he rapped, seemingly alluding to Chris Rock, who was at the intimate listening party in Wyoming, cheating on his wife Malaak Compton-Rock with the Scandal actress. He also made light of his "slavery is a choice" statement on the track "Butterfly Energy, not to be confused with dragon energy, adding, "I said, 'Slavery a choice.' They say, 'How 'Ye?' / Just imagine if they caught me on a wild day.
