Storyline

Robyn McCall, an enigmatic African American woman with a mysterious background, uses her extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn. McCall comes across to most as an average single mom who is quietly raising her teenage daughter. But to a trusted few, she is "The Equalizer" -- an anonymous guardian angel and defender of the downtrodden, who's also dogged in her pursuit of personal redemption.

Writers have to go for it to have a chance.

I actually sat through the first episode and gave it a second chance but I should not have done so. Queen Latifah as the Equalizer is fairly preposterous but if she were actually presented with an interesting plot she might be able to pull it off but so far that has not been the case. The other characters are equally silly and gave no back story at all. Right now it is a huge waste of time. Hopefully the writers have not quit high school yet and may be able to graduate on time.
