How Ashley Judd Emerged From Her Hollywood Hiatus to Become a Time's Up Advocate and More
"Women have been talking about Harvey amongst ourselves for a long time, and it's simply beyond time to have the conversation publicly." When Ashley Judd said those words to the New York Times in October 2017, the actress wasn't only putting herself back in the Hollywood spotlight for people to judge, critique and talk. She also was about to begin a very important discussion on sexual misconduct in and out of the work place. In the Times initial investigation where several women came forward and shared sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein, Ashley specifically detailed an account from nearly 20 years ago. The actress claimed that she was...

Nyt and New Yorker Win Public Service Pulitzer for Reporting on Weinstein, Sexual Harassment

The TimesJodi Kantor and Megan Twohey share the Public Service Pulitzer with The New Yorker’s Ronan Farrow: CBS This Morning/YouTube

The 2018 Pulitzer Prizes were awarded yesterday and the journalists on the front lines of the Harvey Weinstein and sexual harassment stories took home the Public Service honor. The New York Times’ Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey and The New Yorker’s Ronan Farrow received the prize due to their “explosive, impactful journalism that exposed powerful and wealthy sexual predators … thus spurring a worldwide reckoning about sexual abuse of women,” the Pulitzer committee stressed.

The Pulitzers are, of course, referring to #MeToo and the hundreds of women and men, in and out of Hollywood, who have come forward to share their stories of sexual harassment and abuse. Kantor, Twohey, and Farrow not only shined a light on an issue that has been ignored for far too long,

Ashley Judd, Pulp Queen

Wishing Ashley Judd a happy 50th birthday this week. Here's Chris Feil.

Ashley Judd deserves some credit that’s mostly only afforded to television actresses: she’s a pulp queen. It’s like a horror movie scream queen, except for midrange crime thrillers that your dad loves. But when the movie gods dealt her a standard genre exercise she could elevate it to something incredibly watchable, like a femme fatale without all the trappings of a leacherous male gaze.

Judd would eventually riff on the dingiest of pulp for her greatest performance in Bug, but mainstream audiences are more likely to remember her for her cinematic entanglements with the courtroom, espionage, and serial killers...
