It’s grim up north. Or so many British horror films would have you believe. If you’re travelling across the Yorkshire Moors you damn well better not be travelling alone or – heaven forbid – at night, otherwise your loved ones will be identifying your half-digested remains found in the woods outside Northallerton. You’d think people would have learned this lesson by now, but commuting businessman Jake (Rupert Hill) appears to be a slow learner. After a freak road accident he wakes up in the rural home of Morris (an unhinged Tony Curran) and his sheltered daughter Lauren (pop star Diana Vickers) and attempts to leave so that he can attend an ill-defined but ultra-important “business meeting” and, oh yeah, propose to his girlfriend.

Imagine a dystopic world in which children haven't been born in 25 years. It's total chaos. With no one left to inherit the earth, the surviving humans have pretty much run the planet into the ground. It's in this world that the new 10 episode series "Dystopia" unfolds.
The series, with British director Paul Tanter behind the camera, stars Michael Copon and Sheena Colette as a pair of scientists who "stumble upon time travel and the opportunity to change their fate, but all is not certain as changes they make in the past have unforeseen life threatening consequences in their future." Basically, it's Children of Men with time travel.

There are plenty of interesting directions a return to the Babylon 5 universe could take. Here are a few suggestions...
I read somewhere that J.M. Straczynski writes every day. That’s not surprising given his extensive body of work for television, motion pictures, novels and comics. He is best known for Babylon 5, of course. I remember what a lot of people used to say about Babylon 5, “How much can happen on a space station?” Well, a lot actually! And after five seasons of the original series, a bunch of made-for-tv movies and a couple of spin-offs, there are still plenty of stories left to tell.
That is why I was excited recently to read that Joe (apparently, he thinks you’re cool if you just call him Joe) was going back to work on Babylon 5. My excitement soon turned to dread when I found out that...

You've got to check out this trailer for an incredible looking film in development called The Last Scout. This is an independent film directed by Simon Phillips, and he made it on a shoestring budget. He is currently trying to raise funds through Indiegogo so that he can finish the VFX and other post-production work. The movie is a sci-fi space thriller, and from what I've seen in this trailer this looks like it could be an incredibly impressive movie for what they've had to work with to make it.
The story takes place in the year 2065, and earth has been destroyed after a nuclear war between the East and the West. It kind of has the same vibe as Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, as mankind is forced to leave earth to try and survive by finding a new home.

Forget the quaint and low-key adventures of yesteryear, though, this film translation is a multicoloured 3D animation that turns its protagonist into a Paul Potts-type singing sensation via a reality TV show. Unfortunately, much of the parochial charm is lost in a film that lacks the visual and storytelling sophistication of superior toon fare.

★☆☆☆☆After more than three decades entertaining children on TV, Postman Pat makes the transition to the big-screen in Postman Pat: The Movie (2014). The result is a lacklustre offering that comes as a far cry to the charming stop-motion TV series fostered by original creators John Cunliffe and Ivor Wood. Desperate to treat his loyal wife to a romantic holiday, Pat (Stephen Mangan) is forced to enter an X Factor-style talent competition when his bonus is scrapped. An overnight sensation, Pat is whisked away to London, where he immediately settles into his newfound celebrity status, leaving Carbunkle (Peter Woodward) - the postal service's evil new recruit - to replace him with hundreds of automatons.

The much beloved Postman Pat finally makes his way to the big screen. But is it worth the wait?
It's better than the trailer, let's start there. After all, the big screen debut of Postman Pat suffered from an early promo that suggested the film was not one to look forward to. As it turns out, there are merits to the Postman Pat movie, which at times feels as much like the beneficiary of a Doctor Who script conference as a stint watching children's telly. But ultimately, for all the nods to other movies (Faster Pussycat Kill Kill being the most bizarre), and for all the ideas, Pat falls just a little flat when it matters.
It starts promisingly enough. We meet Pat, now voiced by Stephen Mangan, as he goes about his work in Greendale, courtesy of a really good, extended opening shot. All the regulars are there, with the gentle,...

Warner Bros. Pictures is setting up "Love and Glory," a biopic of legendary British Naval commander Lord Horatio Nelson.
Set in the late 18th century, the story will likely follow Nelson's service in the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic Wars.
His use of strategy and unconventional tactics led to a number of decisive naval victories, coming to a close with the famous victory at the Battle of Trafalgar during which Nelson was fatally wounded.
Peter Woodward is on board to pen the script using source material from John Sugden's biographies "A Dream of Glory" and "The Sword of Albion." Gianni Nunnari is producing.

Battle of Trafalgar victor to become subject of Warner Bros project, with projected title Love and Glory
Hollywood is planning a movie about Britain's greatest naval war hero, Horatio Nelson, reports Variety.
Studio Warner Bros hopes to deliver a biopic titled Love and Glory based on John Sugden's biographies Nelson: A Dream of Glory and Nelson: The Sword of Albion. It will be written by Peter Woodward, an actor-turned-screenwriter who recently completed work on the upcoming independent thriller Signal Hill.
Nelson is best known for his victory at the Battle of Trafalgar, in which he used unorthodox strategies to defeat a combined French and Spanish fleet of superior numbers in decisive fashion. The commander-in-chief of Britain's Mediterranean fleet, he was killed during the battle, but the victory forced Napoleon to abandon his plans to invade and surrender control of the seas.

The first story follows five twenty-somethings who, on the hunt for some excitement, break into an abandoned church/convent only to become the victims of the horrors that lurk within. The second story follows the church’s investigation into the tragic "accident" that resulted in the deaths of the group that broke into the church.

I know, I know, you’re confused, too! The thing is that Mark Murphy‘s upcoming horror movie obviously has two titles at this moment. Both of them are quite cool actualy – The Convent (sounds solid for a horror) and Crypt (even better, if you ask me). But that’s not so important right now, because we finally have a completely new images from the whole thing, and I’m sure you’re going to love it!
So, in case you’re not so familiar with Murphy’s horror movie debut, I will first inform you that the whole thing blends classic supernatural horror with a modern found footage twist, and will tell us two interconnecting stories played out in parallel, intercutting with each other.

Just a few days ago we let you know about the new film from director Mark Murphy. Today we have the first stills for you, both behind-the-scenes and otherwise. Read on for more and to inject a little demonic action into your weekend!
"Nearly halfway through the shoot, and luckily the only deaths and disasters are all happening on screen," says Murphy. "Today we shoot a key scene which will have people talking for years to come. Feeling like a mole man having spent so much time filming in the crypt, but we're getting gold on a daily basis. Very much looking forward to seeing this on the big screen but will sorely miss working with such an amazing cast and crew; expecting big things from Nicola Posener, Tom Leeper, Charley McDougall, Sabrina Bussandri and Lucy Drive."

While Dredd's mission is to act as judge, jury and executioner in a dystopian future where there is no appeal and every sentence is death, the producers of the new film about the comic book lawman may have already acquitted its director.
An earlier report by the La Times stated the movie's director, Pete Travis, had been removed from postproduction following disagreements with film executives. With the film - starring Karl Urban - now in the editing phase, Dredd writer-producer Alex Garland (28 Days Later) was said to be taking over the splicing duties, and in turn seeking a co-director credit.
Despite the story coming from three supposedly connected sources, original speculations look to be inaccurate according to both Travis and Garland in a joint statement.

Sony has acquired the movie rights to the Platinum Studios graphic novel which tells the story of David Paxton, a man sent to a Texas prison that's secretly run by vampires. Just a year ago, the rights were with Aurora Productions who hired Saw and Insidious director, James Wan to oversee the adaption. However, nothing materialized and the rights are now in the possession of Sony Pictures. The latest script was written by actor/writer, Peter Woodward. Earlier this year, Brown stated that he has little involvement with the film adaption but did state that he would love to see Samuel L. Jackson cast as the Warden. We'll have to wait and see if Sony will have more luck than Aurora did getting this project off the ground. Scott O. Brown (born 1975) is an American writer, letterer, publisher, editor, and production manager. Scott has been responsible for publishing top-tier creators...

Bloody Disgusting is being told that Sony Pictures has nabbed the rights to the film adaptation of the graphic novel Nightfall. The most recent draft of the screenplay was penned by Peter Woodward. The book follows David Paxton, a criminal who finds himself on the way to a tough Texas prison run by vampires that feed on the inmates. The graphic novel was published in 2007 and written and created by Scott O. Brown with art by Ferran Xalabarder. James Wan (Saw, Dead Silence, Insidious) is no longer attached to direct. There's rumor that Uros Stojanovic is in talks to replace him.

Hitting movie theaters this weekend:
From Prada to Nada – Camilla Belle, Alexa Vega, Kuno Becker (limited)
The Mechanic – Jason Statham, Ben Foster, Donald Sutherland
The Rite – Colin O’Donoghue, Anthony Hopkins, Ciarán Hinds
Movie of the Week
The Mechanic
The Stars: Jason Statham, Ben Foster, Donald Sutherland
The Plot: An elite hit man teaches his trade to an apprentice who has a connection to one of his previous victims.
The Buzz: Jason Statham is kind of cookie cutter, and this looks to be just another of his many action extravaganzas, but he does turn in some good work from time to time. Death Race, for instance, was good, and I enjoyed the first Transporter too. Ben Foster has been on the rise now for quite some time — I imagine a few years from now he’ll be knocking on the door of the household name. I enjoyed him a lot in Pandorum,...

So the day has come for you folks to take home Costas Mandylor in the final chapter of the phenomenon that is Saw! Well, at least until the inevitable reboot. Even cooler...if the jolly red-suited fatman brought you a 3D television last month, you can watch this puppy in its gory 3D glory, too.
Another franchise that is buzzing this week is the video game sequel, Dead Space 2. In addition to the game itself, you can also bring home the collector's edition, the album soundtrack, a hardcover game guide, and an animated DVD movie. That should keep you busy for a while.
Oh yeah, there are a couple of other interesting titles with some familiar faces from "True Blood", "Angel", "Buffy", and even "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman".

So, a new year is upon us and people worldwide will be making false promises that, deep down, they know they will break at the first given opportunity. However, I have made a new year's resolution that I am determined to keep; one that is vital if I hope to continue to provide you with objective, impartial gaming news. To put it simply, I intend to try and 'grow a pair' in regards to my game choices because, as I mentioned before, I just can't hack horror or gory Fps titles.
