Clint Eastwood's mint juleps 'n' murder epic is an easygoing pleasure. Kevin Spacey, John Cusack and a host of great performances guarantee interest, but maybe I have to go to the book to really understand what's going on. A solid 'A' for this one, Clint. The Sightseers and Kill List director will direct Peter Capaldi in the first two episodes of his stint as Doctor Who. So what might we expect from him?
Whenever we hear exciting news about Doctor Who, it's usually to do with new actors joining the show. Over the past couple of years we've had a new companion, a new Doctor, a few returnees and even a new … whatever it is that John Hurt is playing. Now there's some behind-the-camera news that is just as thrilling, with the announcement that Ben Wheatley, one of Britain's most talented film directors, has signed on to direct the first two episodes of Peter Capaldi's tenure. But what could he bring to the show?
1. His own people
Directors like to work with people they have already established a rapport and a shorthand with, as it saves a lot of time cutting out any getting-to-know-you awkwardness.

The bewitching hour must be upon us! With October in full swing and Halloween fast approaching, there's never been a better time to embrace the spooky spirit of the season, and a marketing company behind the upcoming remake of Carrie did just that. Building a fake wall and employing a stuntman, viral video makers Thinkmodo treated customers at an N.Y.C. coffee shop to a shocking display of one woman's telekinesis. While the stunt was definitely startling, it's not the first to have us shaking (sometimes from laughter) in our boots. Try watching these without getting goosebumps - and...

It's these little moments... these once in a lifetime chances... that YouTube was made for. Get ready for what has to be one of the single funniest pranks pulled off in ages. If you're a fan of The Ring, get ready to laugh and be happy!
The below clip went viral yesterday, and it features YouTube user James Williams, who decided to have a bit of fun at his sleeping girlfriend's expense.
"I wanted to see how my girlfriend would react to a ghost coming out the TV trying to grab hold of her. I did it by creating a ghost-like puppet that would clamp to the TV screen," said Williams. "I had to stop her running out the house. She said, 'My legs went like jelly; I couldn't really think what was happening, but all I knew was that thing just kept coming at me.' At the end...

Just like ‘The Ring,’ you’re going to want to watch this video and pass it along to your friends!
It’s a little late for an April Fool’s joke — or early, depending on which calendar you’re looking at — but that didn’t stop one guy from pulling an epic prank on his sleeping girlfriend, taping the incident and posting it online. Naturally, as most incredible videos do, the stunt went viral.
Here’s your debriefing: The boyfriend, James Williams, created a puppet replica of Samara from The Ring – you know, that creepy little girl who crawls out of the well and murders her victims with a single glance — and hooked it up to a TV in the room where his girlfriend was taking a little nap.
The Aftermath
Needless to say, James’ girlfriend experienced a range of emotions; first she was terrified, then relieved, then pissed. Here...

The Ring scared the hell out of my husband. One of the scenes that bothered him the most was where Samara creeps out of the television screen. For days after we saw it, he wanted to move the television out of the bedroom. (We compromised and I put a towel over it... until he fell asleep.)
So as soon as I saw this The Ring prank, I thought for sure the prankee would leave the pranker, James Williams. If I did this to my husband, I have no doubt that he would divorce me - assuming the prank didn't give him a heart attack.

Would you hug your boyfriend after he scared you half to death? James Williams thought it would be funny to frighten his sleeping girlfriend awake - and he was right. A YouTube video of the prank shows Williams using an animated puppet that resembles the ghost from the movie The Ring to scare his girlfriend into an animal-like screaming fit. "I had to stop her running out the house," Williams writes on his YouTube page. Surprisingly, Williams's girlfriend does not get angry with him, but instead gives him a hug after she recovers from her fright. Maybe she didn't realize...

Does your significant other often fall asleep on the couch? In the mood for a laugh and maybe a slap in the face? Just follow James Williams’ lead and spend weeks crafting a life-size puppet of Samara from The Ring to conduct the world’s most terrifying prank.
When Williams’ girlfriend fell asleep, he thought that it would be funny to attach Puppet Samara to the telly and wake his darling up. What happened next? Well, you could imagine:
He’s lucky that her face didn’t end up like this. The girlfriend was definitely scared out of her mind — and rightly so.

The BBC is having its own celebrations, but what are fans doing to celebrate 50 years of Doctor Who?
Plenty of posh things are going on this year to mark Doctor Who’s 50th year, some, like the BFI season, Mark Gatiss docudrama, and of course the anniversary special are already in full swing, while others are being kept under wraps until closer to November the 23rd.
The glossy, official celebrations are one thing of course, and they’ll receive publicity aplenty. Alongside those, we want to highlight the smaller stuff, to support the publications, plans, and events being organised here in the UK and abroad by Doctor Who fans. To this end, here’s the first of our soon-to-be regular Doctor Who 50th anniversary local round-ups…

J. Edgar opens in theaters this Friday and it is the 33rd film directed by Clint Eastwood. Beginning with the thriller Play Misty For Me in 1971, Eastwood has directed westerns, action films, comedies, and dramas. From the very early days of his career, Eastwood had been frustrated by directors insisting that scenes be re-shot multiple times and perfected, and when he began as a director in 1971, he made a conscious attempt to avoid any aspects of directing he had been indifferent to as an actor. As a result, Eastwood is renowned for his efficient film directing and to reduce filming time and to keep budgets under control.
As seen through the eyes of Hoover himself, J. Edgar explores the personal and public life and relationships of a man who could distort the truth as easily as he upheld it during a life devoted to his own idea of justice, often...

Orpheus, Jean Cocteau’s 1950 fantastical update of the renowned Greek myth, will receive what’s sure to be a sparkling release by Criterion on Blu-ray and DVD on Aug. 16. The Blu-ray and DVD will carry the list prices of $39.99 and $29.99, respectively.
Jean Marais prepares to step through the mirror in Orpheus.
Cocteau’s film focuses on a famous poet (Jean Marais, Beauty and the Beast) scorned by the Left Bank youth, and his love for both his wife Eurydice (Marie Déa) and a mysterious princess (Maria Casarès). In search of inspiration, the poet follows the princess to the land of the dead through a dazzling mirrored portrayal, where more dreamlike storytelling and visual poetry awaits…
The second movie in Cocteau’s Orphic Trilogy, which also includes 1930’s The Blood of a Poet and Testament of Orpheus from 1959, Orpheus remains one of the surrealist artist’s most mesmerizing, sensual works.

Police officers in Colorado Springs are reporting of one man’s bizarre (and kinda hilarious) rampage that started over a Wii game. After playing the Wii game, James Williams went on quite the vicious journey that included: biting his mother on the ankle, chasing down several people in is mobile home park with a bat, ramming several cars with his own and hitting a pedestrian and a tree.
Afterward, several of the angry victims chased him for a short distance which resulted in him getting out of his car and allegedly using a Bb gun to break out the rear window of a vehicle. That alone didn’t seem to be enough action for Williams. When the police arrived, he ran at their cruiser and jumped on the hood. Once he jumped off the hood of the car, the officers introduced him to their tasers and finally subdued him.

I first watched Jean-Luc Godard's classic film Breathless a little over a year ago and fell instantly in love with it. I ran out and bought the two-disc Criterion DVD edition and only one week later Turner Classic Movies listed it as one of their 15 Most Influential Movies of All-Time. Following that film he made A Woman Is a Woman, his first feature with Vivre sa vie star and soon-to-be wife Anna Karina. One year later came Vivre sa vie, a film that didn't blow me away as much as Breathless, but it is undeniably Godard with a style that almost can't be explained though the scholars on this Criterion edition offer plenty of comparisons.
Karina stars as Nana, a record shop employee with dreams of becoming an actress and despite what appears to be people trying to either help or take advantage of her, she's come upon hard...
