Review: If you are a fan of Bill Burr’s stand-up comedy, you likely know what you are in for with Old Dads. Burr’s directorial debut is an amalgam of his observations and rants from his twenty-plus years as a comedian told through the fictional story of a trio of fifty-year-olds dealing with generational change. On the heels of a year that has seen semi-autobiographical films starring comedians like Burt Kreischer and Sebastian Maniscalco and the series Bupkis with Pete Davidson, Old Dads is a fictional story that relies heavily on Burr’s sense of humor. But, instead of capitalizing on Burr’s red-hot temper as a source of constant comedy, Old Dads is a relatively traditional movie that tries to tell several different kinds of stories without...

It looks like another stand-up comic has decided to expand on his stage persona and make the jump to a feature film. Of course, that’s nothing new as comedians have been doing this since the first filmed pratfall or wise-crack. Things are a bit more welcoming now as the onslaught of streaming services have put out a big “welcome mat” to the jokesters, raking in lots of new subscribers with taped comedy concerts, usually running about an hour or so, perfect for those needing a quick fix of laughter. It has worked for Kevin Hart and Amy Schumer, and Jo Koy’s autobiographical Easter Sunday certainly found an audience at the multiplex. Will the same happen to this touring comic who pushes against the current culture? Well, it’s going straight to streaming, which might be the perfect home for a trio of Old Dads.

Three fiftysomething jerks extend their adolescence way, way beyond the breaking point in Old Dads, a boorish and obnoxiously vulgar comedy that, since it can’t claim any other great distinction, might well have been expressly written to break the all-time record for use of the f-word in the major studio movie. Even Lenny Bruce might be twitching in his grave over this one.
All the same, director/co-writer Bill Burr has more often than not had his finger on the pulse of the populace, so this slap-dash-feeling Netflix offering likely will prove a solid audience-pleaser.
There certainly have been plenty of comedies featuring guys who put off behaving like adults for as long as they can; perhaps The Odd Couple still stands as the quintessential example of this subgenre whose roots go pretty deep. In this case, the three buds behave as if they should be enrolled, not in grade school,...

Bill Burr, the award-winner comedian will be making his directorial debut with this comedy film that also stars Ben Tishler.

Bill Burr is getting frustrated in the Old Dads trailer, which means he should be pretty amusing. Netflix has released the trailer for the foul-mouthed flick Old Dads.
Old Dads depicts three middle-aged friends who, after becoming fathers later in life, must deal with the challenges and tribulations of raising small children while experiencing midlife crises. Old Dads will be available on Netflix on October 20.
Old Dads follows its main three of old dads, as the title indicates. The group, which was already limited, is soon bound by another commonality: they all become dads later in life.
They must now confront parenting problems, such as adjusting to the huge life shift, clashing with school principals, trying to grasp anything particularly trendy, and more.

"Maybe I'm not cut out for this... but I'd do anything for my kid." Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a comedy called Old Dads, marking the feature directorial debut of comedian / actor Bill Burr. Burr co-writes, directs, produces and stars in this film for Netflix. Thankfully it doesn't seem to have anything to do with Wild Hogs or anything else like that. Burr co-stars with Bobby Cannavale and Bokeem Woodbine, who play the titular "old dads". Three best friends become fathers later in life and find themselves battling preschool principals, millennial CEOs and anything created after 1987. The comedy cast also includes Katie Aselton, Reign Edwards, Rachael Harris, Miles Robbins, and Jackie Tohn. This doesn't seem like it's going to reinvent comedy, but it also doesn't look as bad as it very easily could look. There's a few solid jokes in here, and some super cringe humor – which is actually kind of amusing.

"Glow" star Betty Gilpin has traded in her synthetic wrestling bodysuits for a nun's habit in her new show "Mrs. Davis," but she's not against getting back into the ring. "Oh god, I would of course be down for a reboot," she tells Popsugar.
The star played Debbie "Liberty Belle" Eagan in the Netflix show, which follows the trials and tribulations of a (very real) woman's professional wrestling circuit called Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (Glow) in the 1980s. The series premiered in 2017 and ran for three seasons. The show was renewed for a fourth season in 2019 but the Covid-19 pandemic led to "Glow"'s ultimate cancellation. Star Alison Brie called it "the great heartbreak of my career" in an interview with Decider.

Exclusive: Alyssa Milano (Brazen), Virginia Madsen (Sideways), Gina Torres (9-1-1: Lone Star) and Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us) have signed on for roles in the feature-length anthology Give Me an A, which links together 15 short films, in response to the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade.
The film currently in post-production will have been completed within two months from the date of Roe’s overturning — which eliminated the longstanding constitutional right to abortion — in an effort to ensure this is a response and not a delayed reaction. The creators, cast and crew have made a significant effort to expedite the process in order to start a conversation with audiences about the importance of bodily autonomy and address the dysfunction of a democracy that is not protecting the needs of a majority of the population. Jackie Tohn still remembers the day her bestie Kristen Bell cosigned on her musical education dream.
Tohn, a former American Idol contestant and Glow actress, wanted to give kids who no longer have arts education programs in their schools a colorful and unassuming way to learn about various musical instruments and styles. That’s when she tested out a prototype on Bell’s oldest daughter Lincoln with the help of her creative partner Michael Scharf.

Not too long ago, “Netflix will greenlight anything” was a strong enough meme that it was featured as a joke on actual Netflix shows like Lady Dynamite and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Now that meme is in danger of becoming “Netflix will cancel anything.”
The streaming giant today announced that it has canceled its two remaining Jenji Kohan-produced shows: Glow and Teenage Bounty Hunters, according to Deadline. The latter’s cancellation comes after just one season and the former’s cancellation arrives despite the show previously being confirmed for a fourth and final season.
In the case of Glow, the cancellation comes due to the coronavirus-related shutdowns and the difficulty of producing a highly physical show based on professional wrestling.

“Glow” will not proceed with Season 4 at Netflix as planned, Variety has confirmed.
The Emmy-nominated Netflix comedy series about a troupe of female professional wrestlers had originally been renewed for a fourth and final season, but plans for that season have now been scrapped due to production delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We’ve made the difficult decision not to do a fourth season of ‘Glow’ due to Covid, which makes shooting this physically intimate show with its large ensemble cast especially challenging,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement. “We are so grateful to creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, Jenji Kohan and all the writers, cast and crew for sharing this story about the incredible women of ‘Glow’ with us and the world.”
The show had been renewed for its last season last year. Production had begun on Season 4 earlier this year but was shut down early on due to the pandemic.

Quibi is looking for a big breakthrough at the Emmys with its bite-sized shows. Of the 33 entries in the Best Short Form Comedy or Drama Series category, 12 are from Quibi, one of which is the 10-part musical comedy “Royalties.”
Directed by Amy Heckerling, the series stars Darren Criss and Kether Donohue as songwriting duo Pierce and Sara, two aspiring artists who work catering jobs to stay afloat while pursuing their passion on the side. When they finally get their first big break, they quickly find themselves navigating the hilarious and sometimes bizarre challenges of stringing together songs for some of the world’s most insane (fictional) artists. These are portrayed by a slew of well-known guest actors, including Sabrina Carpenter, Jennifer Coolidge, Mark Hamill, Julianne Hough, Lil Rel Howery, Jordan Fisher, Bonnie McKee, Jackie Tohn and Rufus Wainwright. If that’s not enough names, the show also features Georgina King,...

“What I love about this show and other shows like it, is that they represent what life is,” divulges director Anya Adams of Netflix’s “Glow.” Adams joined Season 3 to direct the episode “Outward Bound.” This installment takes the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling on a camping trip. Simmering tensions on the team are unearthed, but the episode still sticks to the series’ signature humor. Watch the exclusive video interview above.
Adams had fun charting the tone of the episode because of it’s mix of comedy and drama. She was a fan of “Glow” before signing on to direct because the series explores a wide array of emotions. “Life is funny and sad and boring and conflicting,” explains the director. “You can stay on tone by how it resonates with you and how you see life.”

Dancing to The Black Eyed Peas' 2009 hit, Cola and Brown are "so 3008" in their bright-colored body suits, capes and masks. While the twosome looks the part, do they dance the part? The answer: Yes! Between the robot, the running man and their Dirty Dancing-esque lift, Cola and Brown's dance is certainly impressive.
