21 Savage’s third solo album, American Dream, begins with his mother, Heather Joseph, describing her family’s emigration from Britain to America during his childhood. “Every path that I walked was for my son,” she tells us. (Big Rube of Dungeon Family fame penned her introduction.) It’s a concept many others have used before, most famously by Jay-Z and his mother Gloria Carter on “December 4th” from 2003’s The Black Album.

On the one-year anniversary of Renaissance, Beyoncé brought the album’s lyrics to life — especially “category: bad bitch, I’m thе bar” — with a stunning performance proving why she’s one of one, number one and the only one. Don’t even waste your time trying to compete with her.

Over and over again, Monday’s episode of The Voice teed up the saddest kind of mic-drop moment — the kind in which a singer’s asked to drop the mic on their way not just off the stage but the show. Along the way, Ariana Grande got goosebumps galore, John Legend retained a purple-haired competitor who reminded him of Pink, Kelly Clarkson stole a 13-year-old dark horse from Ari, and Blake Shelton was left so awestruck by a performance, he remarked, “I don’t know that I’ve ever seen anything like that.” Spoiler alert: It’s the first one up.

There are too many Bob Dylan references to count in “I Don’t Live Here Anymore,” the latest arena-ready single from the War on Drugs. Some are lyrical nods to beloved songs like “Shelter From The Storm,” “It Ain’t Me Babe,” and “Standing in the Doorway.” Others are even more on-the-nose, like the moment where Adam Granduciel’s narrator gets caught up in nostalgia over a Never Ending Tour gig: “Like when we went to see Bob Dylan/We danced to ‘Desolation Row.'”

On the April 8 episode of “American Idol,” Ryan Seacrest revealed that only seven of the 10 singers were moving on to the live shows. This meant that three contestants in Group 2 of the Top 20 saw their dreams of winning season 17 end. Which of these artists do you think was wrongly eliminated and was most deserving of a place in the Top 14? Vote in our poll below and then sound off in the comments section.
In episodes taped weeks ago, the remaining score of artists from the Top 40 had been split into two groups. Each of those Top 20 contestants had to perform both solo and in duets with celebrities in front of judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. That trio of talent then determined if each contestant deserved a place in the Top 14.

“American Idol” concluded the Top 20 stage of the competition on April 8 when Ryan Seacrest revealed the seven artists from Group 2 who had made the cut. They join the seven acts from Group 1 who were announced on Sunday to form the Top 14 who will sing for America’s votes in the live shows starting April 14.
As with Group 1, the 10 contestants in Group 2 got one more chance to audition for Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. This time, they were paired with well-known musical artists to perform duets, often of the songs which are most associated with these famous faces. The three judges then had to decide which of the 10 contenders deserved to continue in the competition based on these duets and the solos that they sung as well. Spoilers ahead

Just one more night to go on “American Idol” and we will know the Top 14 who will get to sing on the first live show of season 17. The Top 20 have each sung a solo for judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie (these performances were seen on the April 1 episode). And half of them sang celebrity duets on Sunday’s show. The other 10 will take to the stage on the April 8 edition of “Idol.”
Monday’s episode will end with Ryan Seacrest revealing the names of the artists who made the Top 14 and get to sing for America’s votes on April 14. Because the Top 20 shows were taped months ago, we were able to do some digging and discover the names of the contestants in each group as well as the musical talents they were paired with and the songs they performed. Spoilers ahead.

Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has heard our pleas for spankin’ new theme weeks on American Idol, but when the Top 10 take the stage Wednesday night (8/7 c, on Fox) the results could be beautiful or they could be disastrous.
You see, “Music of the American Idols” is a two-pronged beast, encompassing the songs previous Idol winners covered during their respective seasons, and also the songs that these champs have released in their post-show careers.
The key for the Season 12 Top 10 will be choosing songs that fit their voices — but not trying to recreate iconic Idol moments that they’ll never be able to match.

How do you take the task of announcing the names of American Idol‘s Season 12 finalists and stretch it out over a 90-minute telecast? Well, you can start with a super-awkward framework for the episode that requires Ryan Seacrest to dash back and forth from the stage to a tiny holding room, retrieving finalists one at a time and leaving the unfortunate castoffs to stew in their own anxiety and terror.
The good news, however, is that Nigel Lythgoe & Co. introduced the idea of a victory song for each singer before he or she decamped to the Idol Couches of Safety (Tm). Okay,...

Bring on the dancing dogs! America’s Got X Factor finished its Season 2 auditions Thursday night, and I, for one, can’t wait to see how the Pekingese and the Poodle fare when they get to Boot Camp.

There was the 13-year-old kid who passed out backstage from “dehydration” — a dark part of my brain imagined him whispering “Mom, did you slip my that Rohypnol like I asked you to?...

Wednesday night’s X Factor ended with the image of a 13-year-old boy collapsed in a heap in his mother’s lap, a flurry of producers and medics trying to figure out if he’d live or if he’d eventually die of embarrassment at the hands of Simon Cowell.
I’m not sure if the incident was a clever indictment of the lengths today’s youth will go to for a chance at fame, or just a happy (medical) accident that the show’s producers cynically used to fill out yet another two-hour audition episode. Maybe it was both.

As just about any reality-show contestant will tell you, God maintains an encyclopedic knowledge of/a keen rooting interest in the outcome of everything from Big Brother to RuPaul’s Drag Race to The X Factor.
Thursday night’s installment of the last-named of those shows put an exclamation point on this fact, as lightning, heavy winds, and torrential downpours contributed to a power outage that put the kibosh on a brutal batch of auditions from Greensboro, Nc. (All together now: “Thaaaaank God!”)
Sometimes, though, you don’t need divine intervention — especially not when you’ve got a mom...

I’m going to come right out and say it: This Wednesday’s X Factor was the show’s best episode ever — and partially because its stars included a pretty boy who spent what felt like 45 minutes debating whether or not to pop his collar, a trio of smokin’-hot sisters, a man who found a controversial (possibly deadly?) solution to male pattern baldness and a heavy-set black woman named Panda who got carried out on a stretcher. (Spoiler alert: All of ‘em advanced to Boot Camp!)
I know, I know, you’re reading this and saying “The X Factor is barely out of diapers.

Lightning flashed. Crazy people spat and swore. Someone got carried out on a stretcher. And then, a geometric meteor streaked toward the Statue of Liberty.
This is…the cold open of The X Factor‘s Season 2 premiere?
Lest you found yourself confused, Simon Cowell & Co. quickly cut from the intergalactic-themed credits to a familiar image: A convoy of X Factor-branded 18-wheelers driving through the barren highways of the American heartland. (Little known “fact”: Steve Jones is still on the payroll, but this year he’s behind the wheel of one of those trucks, rather than the microphone.)

It was the best of performances (“I’m Going Down”) and the worst of lines (“It’s not yes or no: It’s ‘I’m in tech.’”) on this week’s Smash. It was also an hour filled with a whole lot of unexpected (at times, unbelievable) couple-swapping: Dev and (annoying) Rj locked lips; Dev got a lukewarm response from Karen to his marriage proposal; Ivy got blown off by Derek (right after he gave her a tossed off “I love you”); Derek hooked up with Rebecca; Dev “bought a drink” (possibly a euphemism) for Ivy; and Ellis got sent...

We open this week, accompanied by Tom (with a brief initial assist from Sam) singing “Another Op'nin, Another Show” from Kiss Me Kate over scenes of the Bombshell cast and crew packing for out of town tryouts in Boston. Notably Ivy packs a photo of her awful mother. Rebecca takes a limo and the chorines meet up in Grand Central Station.
Christian Borle really nails the song and the arrangement incorporates phrases from “Let Me Be Your Star”. The number closes with Karen standing wide-eyed on the stage as tech crew scurry under Derek's direction. With the final notes fading a missed cue results in the theater being plunged into darkness. From out of the dark, we hear Derek: “Oh bloody hell!”
Meanwhile, Julia's at home lying next to Frank in bed, smiling.
Back in Boston Rebecca stands nervously on the bare stage. Derek enters and spots her there; she leaves hurriedly.

Ivy (Megan Hilty) seems to finally be waking up to the fact that her relationship with Derek (Jack Davenport) is going nowhere on Monday's (April 30) episode of "Smash," when it looks like he's planning to hook up with yet another of his leading ladies -- "Bombshell" star Rebecca Duvall (Uma Thurman).
In the sneak peek clip above, Ivy channels her frustration and some Mary J. Blige-style gumption into belting out a cover of Rose Royce's "I'm Goin' Down."
Also in this episode, Rebecca gives Derek a little birthday surprise, singing a heavy-lidded version of "Happy Birthday" as Marilyn Monroe. Check out the video below.

The X Factor Finalists 2011 have gone straight in at number one in this week's singles chart. The cover of Rose Royce's 'Wishing on a Star' also features former X Factor contestants One Direction and Jls. It is the fourth year in a row that the X Factor benefit release has reached the top spot, following on from last year's cover of David Bowie's 'Heroes'. Olly Murs remains at number two with 'Dance With Me Tonight', while Rihanna slips to three with 'We Found Love', after spending a total of six weeks at the top. The only other new entry inside the Top 10 is Jessie J's 'Who You Are', which rises to number eight from last week's 37. Flo Rida drops a single place from three to four with 'Good Feeling'. Avicii also falls from four (more)...

The X Factor finalists have claimed the Irish number one spot with their charity single 'Wishing On A Star'. Christina Perri's Twilight track 'A Thousand Years' moves into the top ten to seven, while Olly Murs trails at eight with 'Dance With Me Tonight'. Katy Perry moves up a few to 14 with 'The One That Got Away', One Direction's 'Gotta Be You' takes a tumble down to 22 and The Pogues' (more)...

The 2011 X Factor finalists are on course to claim their first number one single. The contestants' cover of Rose Royce's 1978 hit 'Wishing on a Star', which also features Jls and One Direction, has vaulted to the midweek chart top spot. Olly Murs's 'Dance With Me Tonight' remains at two, as Rihanna dips to three with 'We Found Love'. Flo Rida slides a place to four with 'Good Feeling', while the track the rapper samples - Avicii's 'Levels' - trails at number five. Jessie J's 'Who You Are' bursts up the chart to number seven from 37 following her rendition of the track on Sunday night's X Factor. Meanwhile, outside the top ten, Drake and Rihanna slip to 11 with 'Take Care', Emeli Sande's 'Daddy' (more)...

X Factor contestant Frankie Cocozza has been cut from the show's charity single 'Wishing On A Star'. The Brighton-based teenager was axed from the competition earlier this month after allegedly bragging about his drug use. Things I don’t want to see ever again on The X Factor: Two-hour commercials promoting Adam Sandler’s latest “film.” Any/all of the judges channeling Randy Jackson in their critiques; back-critiquing performances they praised in the previous week; trying to take credit for their rival mentors’ successes; and smiling smugly as if it was them, not their contestants, who hit those big-ass notes. Adherence to “theme weeks” that are flimsier than Paula Abdul’s non-electronically enhanced singing voice. Promotion of the idea that a Pepsi commercial is the single greatest signifier of musical success. And Steve Jones giggling the word “whoopsie!

"The X Factor" is here with the Top 11 and Songs of the Movies. So clearly "X Factor" is not getting too far away from the "Idol" theme-show nights. Also, the product tie-in? "Jack and Jill." Those poor Idols what do we call X Factor contestants? Xies?
1. Stacy Francis, "Queen of the Night," "The Bodyguard"
This ... sounds off to me, almost right from the get-go. Is she sharp? Maybe it's just me, but it sounds off. Plus, she's relying way too heavily on the backup singers. There are times where they are carrying the song and she's just throwing in some ohs. And then she takes to the scaffolding like she's in the "Cold Hearted Snake" video. Hmm. Wow. I really did not like that. I love Stacy Francis, I've totally come around on her and no way should she go home, but I'm not down with tonight.

One Direction and Jls will star on this year's X Factor charity single, it has been revealed. Simon Cowell is said to have asked the bands, both previous X Factor finalists, to sing on the cover of Rose Royce's 1978 hit 'Wishing on a Star'. He was apparently concerned that this year's "average" contestants weren't enough to ensure the song becomes a chart success and so added established artists for the first time. An insider told The Sun: "Simon and the other Syco execs want huge sales this year and weren't sure the contestants would get that on their own. "Now they'll be using One Direction and Jls's combined fanbase to sell the song. It's a no-brainer and is bound to be a huge seller now." The X Factor hopefuls took time out of their busy rehearsal schedules this week to visit Shoot Star Chase children's hospice. Ahead of the release of this year's charity single - a cover of Rose Royce's 'Wishing On A Star' - the finalists spent time at the Surrey centre, which supports over 500 families living in West London, Surrey and West Sussex.

Before we begin, let's provide a bit of background for those just tuning in to the show.
For the uninitiated, W13 is a top secret facility in South Dakota which houses rare and dangerous artifacts, such as Lewis Carroll's looking glass, Robin Hood's crossbow, and Michele Bachmann's brain stem.
Secret Service Agents Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly) and Pete Lattimer (Eddie McClintock) are assigned to retrieve the supernatural items, with help from Warehouse director Mrs. Frederic (Cch Pounder), agent-in-charge Artie (Saul Rubinek), and hot flame-haired tech geek Claudia (Allison Scagliotti).
This season also saw the debut of new agent Steve Jinks (Aaron Ashmore), who has the ability to tell when someone is lying, and is the first recurring gay character on Syfy since Caprica's Sam Adama.
This week's episode of Warehouse 13 once again relegates Steve to the "B" story, which is fine, since it's more entertaining than the "A" story.
