The Big Bang Theory’s Kunal Nayyar will star in Gurinder Chadha’s next film, Christmas Karma. It’s due out this December.
News has emerged about Gurinder Chadha’s next project, confirmed to be an adaptation of A Christmas Carol.
Titled Christmas Karma, the film will star Kunal Nayyar as Scrooge. He’ll be joined by an ensemble cast that includes Eva Longoria, Boy George, Billy Porter, Hugh Bonneville, Leo Suter, Charithra Chandran, Pixie Lott, Danny Dyer, Bilal Hasna, Allan Corduner, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Rufus Jones, Eve, and Nitin Ganatra.
We can’t say we expected to see Danny Dyer, Boy George and Billy Porter in the same film, but there we are. We also reported earlier this year that the film’s Scrooge would be an “Indian Tory who hates refugees”.
Christmas Karma will also be a Bollywood-style musical; Gary Barlow is in charge of music alongside Shaznay Lewis and Nitin Sawhney.

Busted’s Charlie Simpson has been crowned the winner of The Masked Singer.
The singer, 37, who rose to fame with the pop punk band which produced hits including Year 3000 and Crashed The Wedding, performed in disguise as Rhino throughout the ITV series.
Simpson performed three times across Saturday’s finale show and beat Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson, who was disguised as Phoenix, and All Saints star Natalie Appleton, who was hiding behind the Fawn mask.
The Busted star admitted he did not expect to win the show and just tried to “remember the lyrics and have fun”.
Asked how he found the experience, he said: “I was terrified the entire time because the thing I was scared most of was remembering lyrics. I often forget lyrics to my own songs.”

Talk about the dog days of summer. This weekend marked the worst box office in this century.
If “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” (Lionsgate) holds on to the top position for a third time next week, it would mark the lowest gross in memory to repeat again. The actioner dropped a ho-hum 53 per cent, boosted by the absence of any real competition. Count stars Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson among rare winners at the moment.
Domestic theaters grossed around $65 million in movie ticket sales this weekend. (That doesn’t count the revenue for closed circuit live showings of the Mayweather/McGregor fight which would have placed it in the Top Ten.)
That’s about seven million tickets sold total. The number is easily a record low for this century. And you have to reach back to World War II to match the attendance numbers. More people went the movies the...

No need to sugar coat it, this was a miserable weekend. The combined gross of the top twelve failed to total over $50 million, something that hasn't happened in an August weekend in over 20 years. In fact, the combined $49 million for the top twelve is the worst since the top twelve combined for $43.5 million in late September 2001. Making matters worse, with next weekend seeing no major, new wide releases things aren't going to improve until It arrives on September 8. Keeping things to this weekend, The Hitman's Bodyguard finished in the top spot for a second weekend in a row with an estimated $10 million. That gross, however, appears a bit precarious. It wouldn't be at all surprising to see actuals dip below the double-digit mark. Should that happen this would be the first weekend in two years to not have a film break double digits over the three-day. The last time was...

We are looking at what may be the worst August weekend in over 20 years with a top twelve that could struggle to reach a combined $50 million, something that hasn't happened in August since 1993. In fact, while this will undoubtedly be the worst weekend of 2017 thus far, it could be the worst weekend for the top twelve since early September 2014 should Mojo's current forecast hold. For more context, August is currently pacing 36% behind last year and expected to be the first August since 2000 not to have a new release top $100 million domestically. That said, this weekend features a trio of new wide releases and several films expanding (or returning to theaters), but beyond that a lot of attention goes to Saturday night's Mayweather-McGregor fight, which must be taken into account. Current projections anticipate nearly 50 million people will be watching the fight in the U.S. alone, and while this weekend doesn't...

Lionsgate and Summit's action-comedy The Hitman's Bodyguard finished ahead of pre-weekend expectations and took the #1 spot at the weekend box office while WB and New Line's Annabelle: Creation scored a second place finish over its sophomore frame. The weekend wasn't too kind, however, to Bleecker's Logan Lucky, which did manage to finish third, but was unable to crack double digits from over 3,000 locations. As for the weekend overall, the top twelve narrowly escaped becoming the worst weekend of 2017 by less than $1 million by combining for $81.5 million. As of right now, this means the month of August is currently pacing 34% behind August last year while the summer season is pacing 12.8% behind last year. With an estimated $21.6 million, Lionsgate's release of The Hitman's Bodyguard finished #1 at the box office. This outperforms Mojo's pre-release forecast and is just a shade below historical averages for a film of this size and genre from Lionsgate.

Gurinder Chadha will direct the adaptation of her own 2002 hit movie, with original music by Howard Goodall and lyrics by Charles Hart and a new book by Paul Mayeda Berges and Chadha.
"Developing Bend It Like Beckham for the stage has been the most enjoyable creative process of my career so far," Chadha said.
"It was always my intention to build on the film and to present its themes and storylines to live audiences in an exciting new dynamic way."
She continued: "I have been inspired by musicals ever since I was a little girl, now with Bend It Like Beckham, such a familiar story to so many, I believe we are presenting a totally new kind of musical - part West End, part London Punjabi, but wholeheartedly British.

In related news, Netflix have announced a whole slate of stand-up comedy exclusive to its service after the success of the recent Aziz Ansari special. So the likes of Chelsea Handler, Jim Jefferies, Bill Cosby, Bill Burr and Chelsea Peretti will be adding stand up shows to streaming between now and December. I have only heard of a couple of these acts but there again one of the best things to do with an hour to spare is browse Netflix for its plentiful supply of stand-up...

Hot on the heels of some Stateside controversy and his second acting Golden Globe, Leonardo DiCaprio brings latest film The Wolf of Wall Street to the UK this Friday.
Wolf marks DiCaprio's fifth collaboration with legendary director Martin Scorsese, and together the duo have produced such modern classics as Gangs of New York, The Departed and Shutter Island. DiCaprio's incredible screen work stretches beyond his Scorsese partnership, though. He's tackled Shakespeare, faced down an iceberg aboard James Cameron's Titanic and dived deep into the human mind for Inception.
With Wolf of Wall Street on the horizon, Digital Spy staff reminisce about their favourite DiCaprio movies below...

Arguably Christopher Nolan's finest movie, this mind-bending sci-fi thriller saw DiCaprio marry intense introspection with action hero dynamism. Grieving over the loss of his wife Mal (a haunting Marion Cotillard), DiCaprio's Cobb leads a team of...

Los Angeles, April 23: Actress Tara Reid allegedly faced a meltdown when owners of a shop refused to give her any discount on the bill.
The 37-year-old reportedly started shouting and throwing tantrums at the All Saints store here.
"She was screaming. She had to be escorted out by security. She seemed drunk," a source told a popular daily.
However, Reid's spokesperson has another story to tell, reports thesun.co.uk.

Oh, stardom. Such a fickle state of affairs.
Actress and perpetual party-girl Tara Reid reportedly experienced the downside of fame last week when she tried to claim a celebrity discount at an All Saints store in Los Angeles and, much to her dismay, got turned down.
According to New York Post's Page Six, the "American Pie" actress went in looking for an outfit for Coachella, when she asked that the clerks take her stardom into consideration. "When the store declined, Reid insisted she deserved the break 'because of her fame,'” an eyewitness told the Post. "She then 'began to scream at them and was escorted out.'"
Though Reid's publicist did not return Huffington Post's request for comment, a rep on her behalf told Page Six that "Tara gets a huge discount with All Saints in the UK and Paris" and thus requested one in the U.S. store as well.

All Saints have reportedly turned down an offer to star in the next series of The Big Reunion.
Fellow '90s girl group Eternal have also refused to reform for the ITV2 show, according to the Daily Star Sunday.
A source said: "Shaznay isn't interested and it would take a miracle to get Eternal back together."
All Saints stars Melanie Blatt and Shaznay Lewis went on to launch solo careers when the group split. Blatt is currently a judge on The X Factor New Zealand, while Lewis is a successful songwriter, penning 'Black Heart' for Stooshe and working with Mutya Keisha Siobhan.
Sisters Natalie and Nicole Appleton found success as a duo with hits like 'Fantasy' and 'Don't Worry', before briefly reforming with All Saints in 2006 to release single 'Rock Steady' and a third album.
Meanwhile, former Eternal member Kelle Bryan admitted earlier this year that she wouldn't be interested in reuniting for the show.

Patrick Duffy says he'd like to participate in a Step by Step reunion movie and that it would be interesting to see how the Lambert family grew up. I just hope such a series spawns a serious topical drama that desperately adds a laugh track when ratings tank, giving the Tgif generation a The Bradys of their own.
You've seen me complain that the dark side of a golden age of television is a too-full DVR that make it challenging to keep up with all the good shows (as well as the guilty pleasures and hate watching) available. It also means that shows like Southland and Switched at Birth don't quite get the attention they deserve. I'm still looking for time to get caught up on Game of Thrones, much less time to get to that third episode of Top of the Lake.

Little Mix have released the sassy video for their new single 'How Ya Doin?' featuring Missy Elliott.

Alongside Quentin Tarantino, Danny Boyle is one of the few filmmakers who knows exactly how to meld sound and image to enhance the moviegoing experience. The Oscar-winning director sent Ewan McGregor storming down a Scotland street for Trainspotting to Iggy Pop, while Cillian Murphy wandered through the deserted streets of London in 28 Days Later to the eerie sound of Godspeed You! After a very strong start overseas last weekend, Skyfall expanded its reach to nearly every foreign market and scored an unbelievable $156 million. The 23rd James Bond movie has already earned $287 million, which makes it the third-highest-grossing Bond movie ever behind Daniel Craig's previous two entries, and its well on its way to setting a new franchise record. Its top market was once again 007's native U.K., where the movie eased 21 percent to $25.7 million. That brings its total to $85.8 million, which puts it a day or two away from passing The Dark Knight Rises to become the highest-grossing movie of the year there. Across nearly all of its new territories, Skyfall opened noticeably higher than Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale. The movie was strongest in Europe where the All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day holidays gave audiences plenty of time to get out to theaters. In Germany,...

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nurse Jackie will soon get a shot of sex appeal.
Good Wife alum Betty Gilpin has signed on to play Dr. Carrie Roman, a first-year resident at All Saints described as "sexy," in a season-long arc on the Showtime series. Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich is currently developing a new animated film for Pixar called Dia de los Muertos, which is based on the Mexican holiday also known as Day of the Dead. There's not a lot of information of the movie, but Cinemablend recently asked Unkrich about the movie, and here's what he had to say,
I can't really talk about it, other than that it exists and that I'm directing it. I'm making a film that's kind of set in the world of Dia de los Muertos. All I can say - based on the films that we've made - is that death is a part of life. Yes, it's easy to kind of look away from it and pretend it doesn't exist. But it is kind of the same reality that we all have to face. And it's a powerful thing. I'm proud that we haven't kind of hidden away from it.

All I can say - based on the films that we've made - is that death is a part of life. Yes, it's easy to kind of look away from it and pretend it doesn't exist. But it is kind of the same reality that we all have to face. And it's a powerful thing. I'm proud that we haven't kind of hidden away from it.

What does a lesbian look like? Obviously there's no one way to answer this question. There isn't one way to look gay (thank god!) but there is still a certain aesthetic that is queer style. We can read the September issue like any straight woman can, but sometimes there's just something missing; someone talking to us about the specific kinds of way we like to wear our clothes. Lesbians and our other kinds of Sapphically-inclined sisters are more likely to blend the men's and women's sections, to not be satisfied with a "boyfriend" fit; to want something not necessarily feminine but that's still on trend and also looks like it was made for them. You can't always find someone to help you with this in your nearby Macy's, and if you can, you might not be comfortable doing so.
The same goes for hairstyles.
