The filmmakers behind docuseries “Quiet on Set” are not staying quiet when it comes to allegations of misleading interviewees.
After former Nickelodeon game show host Marc Summers claimed “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” directors Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz were “unethical” in their interview approach and allegedly misled him as to what the docuseries was really about, the filmmaking duo on Friday issued a statement to IndieWire.
“We are clear with each participant about the nature of our projects,” Robertson and Schwartz said.
Summers appears in the first episode of “Quiet on Set” and discusses hosting the game show “Double Dare” at Nickelodeon from 1986 to 1993. The show ended before Nickelodeon sitcom showrunner Dan Schneider joined the network. Schneider has been accused of toxic workplace behavior and mistreatment of child actors.

Former Nickelodeon game show host Marc Summers is calling out the producers behind true crime docuseries “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” for being “unethical” when it came to interviewing him.
Summers, who appears in the first episode of “Quiet on Set,” hosted the game show “Double Dare” at Nickelodeon from 1986 to 1993. The show ended before controversial Nickelodeon sitcom showrunner Dan Schneider joined the network. Schneider has been accused of toxic workplace behavior and mistreatment of child actors, as documented in “Quiet on Set.”
During an appearance on “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show,” Summers claimed that he did not know “Quiet on Set” sought to expose allegations at Nickelodeon.
“They asked me what I thought of Nick, and the first 10 to 12 seconds, from what I understand, in this documentary is me saying all these wonderful things. But they did a bait and switch on me,” Summers said.

Did the creators of Malcolm in the Middle always have us fooled? Although the long-running sitcom technically has Frankie Muniz in every episode, the actor recently revealed to other contestants of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia that he did, in fact, leave the show for a while. What exactly happened?
The former child star revealed that he left the sitcom for two entire episodes because of the continuous tension that was present on the set. Muniz’s career took off after he played Malcolm in the lead role, and in a short period, he rose to international fame. Likewise, Bryan Cranston’s career underwent a sea change after being featured in a pivotal role (Malcolm’s father) in the well-liked sitcom.

Frankie Muniz explained this week why his titular Malcolm in the Middle character was absent for two episodes of the show: The actor walked off the set.
“There were two episodes I’m not in. I walked off the set,” Muniz said during an appearance on Australia’s I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here, shared by News.com.au.
“Everyone was so afraid to stand up when certain people were controlling or rude or disrespectful,” he continued. “They walked on pins and needles.”
Muniz clarified that it wasn’t necessarily him specifically experiencing the tension, but that he was “so mortified by seeing people afraid to stand up for themselves” that “it was worth it to me.
“I didn’t care if they told me I was never going back,” he added, also ceding that he was able to make such a move given his status as the series protagonist.

Frankie Muniz shared on the latest episode of “I’m a Celebrity Australia” (via News.com.au) that he once “walked off” the set of his beloved Fox sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle” when everyone else was refusing to stand up to certain people who were “controlling or rude or disrespectful.” Muniz starred on the comedy as the eponymous child genius for seven seasons, but he missed two episodes because of his decision.
“There were two episodes I’m not in. I walked off the set,” Muniz said, explaining that his actions were due to set tensions. “Everyone was so afraid to stand up when certain people were controlling or rude or disrespectful. Frankie Muniz was the title star of hit sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, but now he’s explained why there are two entire episodes where he doesn’t appear after he walked off set.

“There were two episodes I’m not in. I walked off the set.” And he explained his actions were because tension on set had reached a boiling point, because of the behavior of other “certain people.”

Malcolm in the Middle is a cult classic coming-of-age sitcom that has left a permanent mark on early 2000s television. Created by Linwood Boomer, the series originally ran from January 9, 2000, to May 14, 2006, spanning seven seasons and 151 episodes. Even though the story ended, Malcolm in the Middle has remained a major part of television history and it is, even today, considered to have raised a whole generation of children and teenagers who devotedly watched Malcolm and his family over the years.
Now, it’s been almost 20 years since the final episode aired, but there have been talks – for a while now – that a reboot with the original cast is in the works. The project is supposedly headed by Bryan Cranston, who played Malcolm’s dad, Hal, in the original series, but nothing official has been announced.

Frankie Muniz is opening up about his experience as a child actor and why he would “never” let his son follow in his footsteps.
The actor-turned-nascar driver told Pedestrian TV in an interview shared on TikTok Sunday that he wouldn’t let his son Mauz, who’s currently 3 years old, start working as an actor at a young age because “it’s an ugly world in general.”
“I would never let my kid go into the business,” Muniz said. “And not that I had a negative experience, because to be honest, my experience was 100 percent positive. But I know so many people, friends that were close to me, that had such insanely negative experiences.”
“I just think it’s an ugly world in general,” he added. “I never cared about rejection, but there’s a ton of rejection.”

“Abba Zabba, you my only friend!” Imagine they made a Half Baked 2. That sounds like a slam dunk, right? After all, the original didn’t set the box office on fire, but it’s presumably made a mint on home video. Well, it looks like Universal finally pulled the trigger on a Half Baked 2, but of the original cast, the only person to return is Rachel True, who played the love interest, Mary Jane. Yes folks, it happened, and the sequel, Half Baked: Totally High, is going straight to Blu-ray, with an April 16th release date.
All this begs the question, why, twenty-five years later, make a Half Baked sequel without either Dave Chappelle, an infinitely bigger star now than he was in 1998, and Jim Breuer? Chappelle, I kind of get – the man is busy and would probably cost millions and millions to get, but Jim Breuer? Could...

Producer/director Robert Rippberger (Those Who Walk Away) recently wrapped production on the sci-fi thriller Renner, which sees Frankie Muniz and Violett Beane taking on a manipulative A.I. Now Rippberger is heading to the European Film Market in Berlin to launch sales on his slate of upcoming films – the first project in the line-up being a horror thriller creature feature called Monstrosity, which is reminiscent of the classic sitcom The Munsters (which recently received a feature film update from Rob Zombie) in that it focuses on a family that consists of classic monsters. In this case, a werewolf, a vampire, a zombie, and Frankenstein’s Monster. The mixture also brings to mind the ’80s classic The Monster Squad.
Variety reports that Monstrosity, which is currently in pre-production, has the following synopsis: A young village boy goes missing down a mine shaft. His father blames a strange family in the neighboring house,...

“Monstrosity,” which is currently in pre-production, is a creature feature that Rippberger will produce and direct. Writer Sabir Pirzada is producing “Monstrosity” alongside Rippberger.

Shawn Levy's 2011 sci-fi film "Real Steel" takes place in the near future of 2020 when boxing and Mma have been banned, having been replaced by high-octane robot fights. Robot "trainers" buy up powerful, tank-like fighting bots, program their unique fighting moves prior to a match, and then pit them against each other in outsize, heavily sponsored arenas. The robot to remain un-smashed is declared the victor. Hugh Jackman plays a former boxer turned robot trainer who aims to purchase a high-profile robot called Noisy Boy and relive his glory days, but his attempts fail. Instead, he begins seeing potential in a battered, unassuming, out-of-date sparring robot named Atom salvaged from a dump. The robots in "Real Steel" aren't alive, but Levy does throw in a handful of shots implying that Atom may be ... feeling something.
"Real Steel" wasn't talked about a lot upon its release, and only opened to $27 million domestically.

When the nominations for the 1959 Primetime Emmys were revealed, 13-year-old supporting candidate Johnny Crawford (“The Rifleman”) became the youngest male acting contender in TV academy history and then retained the title for the next six and a half decades. After so many years of his record appearing to be unbreakable, it was finally shattered this summer by Best Drama Guest Actor nominee Keivonn Montreal Woodard, who turned 10 this February. His historic bid for HBO’s “The Last of Us” makes him not only a credit to child actors but also to deaf performers, as no male one had ever earned Emmy recognition before.

"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is a somewhat unique comedy series in that the central cast and creative team have known one another for years, working together long before FX picked up their homemade pilot and they had a cable TV show together. That means that some of their inside jokes and gags go back decades, and in at least one instance, they ended up plagiarizing themselves by reusing a gag from one of their homemade shorts to create a major character for "Always Sunny." Then again, maybe plagiarism is too strong a word, considering the fact that the short wasn't really shown to the masses prior to "Sunny" blowing up and it's a very basic character premise, but they definitely still copied themselves.
On an episode of "The Always Sunny Podcast" aptly titled "The Waitress," actor Mary Elizabeth Ellis joined the regular "Sunny" podcast crew of Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton,...

Disney’s reputation is notoriously squeaky clean.
The beloved company has provided family-friendly fun for decades, with live-action favorites and animated classics spanning back to the 1930s.
As a powerful force in the industry and one of Hollywood’s biggest studios, the company expanded its reach over the years with film distribution companies, like Touchstone Pictures, Miramax, Searchlight Pictures and Buena Vista Distribution.
The movies often featured more adult themes than one would expect from the company. Because they are published by subsidiaries, the titles are all only indirectly Disney-related – but they still fall under the major studio’s umbrella anyway.

Ending the year in signs is the hilarious, adventurous, sharp-tongued era of Sagittarius.
There’s truly nothing like them. They are quirky, mysterious and full of life. While they naturally grab the attention in the room, they feel most comfortable when they’re in their lonesome.
Sagittarius is the jack-of-trades sign; the sign that takes up space in every all industries — whether they be an actor, comedian or a bus driver — their versatility allows them to do it all. And that flexibility helps fuel their “I’ll try anything once” mindset. To them, what is life if you’re not living it to your fullest? The only thing you have to beware of is their slick mouth. Between Sagittarius, Virgo and Aries it’s hard to tell which sign is more brutally honest. Truly, to know Sagittarius is to love them. And if you don’t love…it doesn’t...

Many actors find early success in the horror genre. Jennifer Aniston battled an evil, pun-loving Irish creature in "Leprechaun" years before she landed "Friends," for example. Charlize Theron's first role came in "Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest." Even "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation" boasted not one, but two future Oscar winners in its cast, Matthew McConaughey and Renée Zellweger.
That said, not everyone manages to go on to achieve that same level of success. For every Michelle Williams ("Halloween H20: 20 Years Later") and Leonardo DiCaprio ("Critters 3"), there are countless horror stars whose careers don't reach the same level of renown. It can be especially interesting to look back at teen horror films, which often feature ensemble casts, to see who made it and who didn't. The actors on this list all have respectable careers, and most are still working in Hollywood; they simply never...

Actor Bryan Cranston had an interesting link with Scream star Hayden Panettiere before the two officially met. Ironically, Panettiere would audition for a role in Cranston’s iconic comedy series Malcolm in the Middle. But Panettiere’s looks posed a problem.
Hayden Panettiere was the best actor for her ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ role, but she was too pretty Bryan Cranston | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Cranston was already familiar with the Panettiere family before the Heroes actor was even born. Panettere’s mother, Leslie Vogel, played Cranston’s wife in the long-running 1980s soap opera Loving. Decades later, Cranston would end up auditioning Vogel’s daughter Panettiere in an episode of Malcolm in the Middle he was directing.
During the process, Panettiere impressed Cranston and the show’s producer with her acting ability. But Cranston worried that Panettiere didn’t have the right look for the role she was trying out for.

This article contains spoilers for the final episode of Malcolm in the Middle.
Besides animated series, there are very few sitcoms which maintain a consistent level of hilarity with every beat of comic timing. No matter what point you turn on Malcolm in the Middle, any episode, something will make you laugh within 18 seconds. I’m not talking giggles or chuckles, but full-out guffaws that make you miss the next six jokes.
Other shows may be more consistent in overall quality, but none match the stream of funny that comes out of the series created by Linwood Boomer, himself the third of four siblings who was placed in the “gifted” class at school. After graduating, Boomer acted on Little House on the Prairie, another show focusing on a middle child. The semi-autobiographical Malcolm in the Middle doesn’t just call for a second look. It screams for a repeat binge.

With “Dancing with the Stars” set to come back for a 32nd season this fall on ABC after spending last year on Disney+, there’s a long list of celebrities who deserve to compete on the dance floor. Two of my previous suggestions came true: Frankie Muniz (who came in third in season 25) and Kel Mitchell (who came in second in season 28). Below is a list of female stars I think the show should consider inviting to the ballroom to vie for the next Mirror Ball Trophy. Do you agree with my picks? Vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know which you’d most like to see on “DWTS.” And feel free to let us know in the comments what other stars you would like to see when the show comes back in September.

Young Sheldon is one of the best and most beloved family sitcoms out there. The CBS series started as a spin-off of the hit sitcom series The Big Bang Theory and follows the early life of one of the main characters of the original series. There have been many sitcoms about precocious kids but none of them are similar to Young Sheldon. Young Sheldon recently concluded its Season 6 and while you wait for Season 7 here are some similar shows that you should check out next.

Child actors sometimes continue on the Hollywood path, continuing to seek acting roles as they grow from cute kids to teens to adults.
Not all of those former child stars make the difficult transition to adult roles — and not all of them even want to.

“I am the one who knocks reunions!” Bryan Cranston says he was approached to do a Breaking Bad reunion, which would have coincided with the 15th anniversary of the show’s 2008 premiere, but rebuffed it, suggesting it could be a slippery slope.
In a new interview with GQ, Bryan Cranston said, “They wanted to do a Breaking Bad 15-year reunion…And I thought, ‘In a quick five years from now we’re going to do the 20 and then the 25, then the…’ It’s like, let’s not try to do too much.” Part of this seems to have to do with the reception and legacy of Breaking Bad, which is typically considered one of the greatest TV shows ever. And while Cranston won’t explicitly say where the show ranks, its status is undeniable. “I think it’s a little arrogant to step into that conversation…Let it be what it is.

Awkwafina may be heading under the sea for “The Little Mermaid” and fighting Dracula in “Renfield” this spring, but at heart, the BAFTA nominee is still Nora from Queens. Season 3 of the star’s Comedy Central series, aptly titled “Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens,” will premiere on April 26. The season comes over a year after the show’s sophomore outing ended in October 2021.
Originally premiering in January 2020, “Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens” stars the “Farewell” actor as a fictionalized version of herself, in a family drama set in her home neighborhood of Flushing, Queens. The show follows Nora as she navigates her twenties in New York City, with the support of her tightknit family. Bd Wong stars as her father Wally, Lori Tan Chinn as her grandmother, Bowen Yang as her cousin Edmund, and Jennifer Esposito as Wally’s girlfriend Brenda.
Season 3 will focus on Nora as she navigates “themes of identity and success.
