For most, Halloween is more of a state of mind than a holiday, but for those too shy to celebrate, a fun way to feel the thrill of Oct. 31 might be through TV’s favorite characters. What is Halloween without Ted Mosby’s Slutty Pumpkin or trick-or-treating with the Belchers?

The idea of a Hollywood star getting some indie street cred by taking a massive pay cut to support the work of an edgy, up-and-coming auteur is hardly a new concept, but describes at least half the films at Sundance. However, the films of Josh and Benny Safdie are more than their somewhat simplified reputation as gritty New York filmmakers, and the decision by Robert Pattinson to star in the pair’s new film isn’t your run-of-the-mill case of an actor looking for street cred.
The Safdies’ distinctive guerilla-style approach to filmmaking on busy streets, often with amateur performers – who embody the underbelly of the city – is a cinematic world based on complete authenticity and the product of an immersive creative process that requires, as Benny described it, “being put through the ringer.”

Ellen Carozza doesn’t remember the exact moment she realized her cat was an amazing cat-daddy.
The kitty, appropriately named Benedict Cumbercat (a.k.a. Benny for short), has always been like his namesake Benedict Cumberbatch: handsome, adorable, and utterly squeezable — and the way he interacts with Carozza’s foster kittens? Completely un-fur-gettable.
“Benny makes friends very easily with every kitten he comes across, it is a daily occurrence and very routine,” says Carozza, a licensed veterinary technician at the Nova Cat Clinic in Arlington, Virginia, who first told her cat’s story to TheDodo.com. “Cats Love routine,...

After months of festival screenings, schmoozing luncheons, and lesser award shows, this year's Oscar season finally got real and cut the dead weight this morning when the Academy Awards announced the final roster of nominees. As is always the case, there were a number of pleasant surprises (congrats on that Best Visual Effects nod, Ex Machina!).
And, naturally, there were a much larger number of devastating omissions, as dreams were dashed and the toilets into which studios sunk their campaign dollars were finally flushed. Some of the snubs were probably deserved,...

Sarah Cawood hosted BBC Three's Eurovision coverage back in 2010 but that hasn't stopped her hitting out at the broadcaster for its treatment of the competition.
In a column for Attitude magazine, the TV presenter said that this year's contest would be "monumentally anticlimactic" and claimed the BBC doesn't want to host the competition again.
Cawood complained that the UK was being "represented by a band they don't know singing a song they didn't choose" after the BBC chose 'Still in Love with You' by Electro Velvet.
"You only have to glance across your social media platforms on Eurovision night to see that the UK Love This S**T and the event itself remains one of the highest rated shows the BBC has each year," she said.
"I have never understood the arrogance of the Beeb which results in UK public having little or no say in who represents our fine country at Eurovision.

The whole year, I have been looking for The Oscar season frontrunner for Best Actress. I was hoping Shailene Woodley from "The Fault in Our Stars" would squeak in, but now, the lovely, talented, and ultra-sweet Julianne Moore is the one to beat!
Her double whammy performances for "Map to the Stars" and "Still Alice" solidify that notion. And just this morning, the Palm Springs International Film Festival just called her The best actress of the year! Moore will be receiving the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress, at the festival's Awards Gala.
I can't wait! I will be on the red carpet to chat it up with the fantastic Miss Moore! She will be joining the equally talented Eddie Redmayne from "The Theory of Everything" at the gala where the actor is set to receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actor.
Here's the full press release from the Psiff:

Julianne Moore might be the hottest actress in the Oscar race this year, and most voters haven’t even seen her film yet. This four-time Oscar nominee and Emmy winner for Game Change is considered overdue for a win. Still Alice, in which she plays a victim of early-onset Alzheimer’s, offers her a great opportunity to finally take home that statuette, and today the Palm Springs International Film Festival announced that she will receive the Actress prize at this year’s gala on January 3. Eddie Redmayne was previously announced for the fest’s Actor prize, and both are considered front-runners in the Oscar race, so Psiff is just jumping on the bandwagon.
Every precursor award a contender can get just makes them seem more inevitable for the final win. Moore certainly is deserving, and it is looking like her year. In May, she won the Best Actress prize at...

'The Voice' coach has a catchy new single.
Gwen Stefani made her The Voice debut last month, but now the blonde bombshell is officially back on the music scene.
Gwen unveiled her new solo single "Baby Don't Lie" on Monday, and it's just as catchy as we'd hoped! But with co-writers/producers Benny Blanco, Ryan Tedder and Noel Zancanella on board, we'd expect nothing less.

The song is Stefani's first solo effort since her 2006 album Sweet Escape, although her band No Doubt made a triumphant return to music in 2012 with Push and Shove.

Billboard reports that Stefani is aiming for a December release for her forthcoming album, which she has been working on with her Voice co-star (and "Hollaback Girl" collaborator) Pharrell Williams. The "Chandelier" singer nabbed her first No. 1 album this week.
For anyone who can’t get "Chandelier" out of their head, it should come as no surprise that Sia is more than just a phenomenal singer -- she's a killer songwriter, too.
The famously press-shy star (did you catch her on Late Night with Seth Meyers? Or on Ellen?) nabbed her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart this week, but she's been churning out hits for her fellow artists for years. Sure, we remember her voice on David Guetta's "Titanium" and on Flo Rida's "Wild Ones," but did you know that she's written some of Rihanna, Katy Perry and Britney Spears' biggest hits?

In addition to first single, “Problem,” the album includes collaborations with produced Zedd on “Break Free,” rapper Big Sean on “Best Mistake,” The Weeknd on “Love Me Harder,” Childish Gambino on “Break Your Heart Right Back” and A$AP Ferg on “Hands On Me.” Though he doesn’t appear on the track, One Direction’s Harry Styles penned “A Little Bit of Your Heart”; OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, Benny Blanco, Max Martin, Rodney Jerkins, Oak & Pop, and Harmony & Tommy Brown handled production duties. Grande will promote the album through a number of TV appearances, including Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular, as well as performing on “Today” on Aug. 29. Grande's last album, "Yours Truly," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and included the hit, "The Way,...

Ed Sheeran is a ginger Byron for the Millennial generation: he documents his alcohol-soaked misadventures in love with a dark vulnerability that seems to grasp that they are often doomed before they start. And yet, Sheeran goes back to dead-end road again and again looking for a different result, filled with optimism. On “X,” his sophomore set and confident follow up to "+," the British singer/songwriter explores love—most often, but not always, the romantic kind—through a drunken lens. Armed with his acoustic guitar and with producers like Pharrell Williams and Rick Rubin by his side to round out his vision and often contemporize it, the 23-year old bares his soul. Even though the producers dress up some of this tunes, Sheeran is a troubadour, who’s more interested in telling a story than wrapping it in flashy sheen. To his credit, though the songs are clearly autobiographical, Sheeran...

Producer Rob Resnick and vocalist Cal Shapiro started Timeflies around 2010 — but that’s not a hard date. It could have been, but they decided on it at a party in college. Together, they create a sound that has opened for Ludcris, covered Taylor Swift and has a thing or two to say about Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber. Read our whole interview below, and listen to their new hit, “All the Way.”
HollywoodLife: How did you start it?

Since 1999, the cast of Malcolm D. Lee's "The Best Man" has been around the world and back again.
Now, fourteen years later, the cast has reunited for its sequel in "The Best Man Holiday" -- and why not? Written and directed by Lee, "Holiday" doesn't miss a beat, picking up 15 years after its predecessor, and the rivalries, romance, and all-around camaraderie have not been lost among the longtime friends.
"The Best Man Holiday," starring Nia Long (Jordan), Regina Hall (Candace), Morris Chestnut (Lance), Terrence Howard (Quentin), Monica Calhoun (Mia), Harold Perrineau (Julian), Taye Diggs (Harper), Melissa De Sousa (Shelby), and Sanaa Lathan (Robyn), hits theaters today, and we've assembled 20 things you probably don't know about its cast to celebrate the long-awaited sequel.
1. Nia Long played Will Smith's girlfriend and fiancée on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" from 1994 through 1995. Interestingly enough, Jada Pinkett-Smith -- Smith's current wife -- was...

Officer And A Gentleman a romcom? The Full Monty a comedy? The Fox And The Hound all cute and cuddly? Er...
A couple of weekends back, three films converged on my eyeballs. I watched the apparent uplifting love story, An Officer And A Gentleman. The Spielbergian family adventure Batteries Not Included. And I caught a bit of Disney's The Fox And The Hound for the first time in a decade or so.
Each of these films, and the others I'm about to discuss, has a reputation of being something warm, cuddly, friendly and easy. But is that the minds of the consensus playing tricks? Because the truth is that there are films that we tend to remember as being one thing, that turn out to be far, far darker. Some of that is down how the film was originally marketed. Another 25 unsung greats come under the spotlight, as we provide our pick of the underappreciated films of 1993...
What a year 1993 was. It saw the release of Star Fox on the Super Nintendo. Bill Clinton became president. Season three of Deep Space Nine premiered on Us television. UK politician Douglas Hurd visited Argentina. Cyndi Lauper released her album Hat Full Of Stars.
Aside from those earth shattering events, we'll probably remember 1993, in cinema terms, as the year Jurassic Park dominated the box office like an angry Tyrannosaurus. A true phenomenon, its profits doubled those of the second most watched film in 1993 cinemas, Mrs Doubtfire, and almost three times as much as the movie below that - the Harrison Ford thriller, The Fugitive.
But as ever, there was so much more to the 1993 movie landscape than dinosaurs and Robin Williams dressed as an old woman.

"Under the Dome" has gotten pretty exciting the last couple episodes. Read on to find out what we can look forward to going into the season finale next week.
We'll confess -- the show has been a bit of a slow burn, especially compared to the book. Now, the book covers less than a week, so obviously a show that is going to at least have a second season has to last longer than that. So, at times, the show has been a little slow, a little meandering, a little ridiculous (we still can't get over that appliance truck that crashed into the water tower -- what was it Doing on the road? Refrigerator emergency?)
However, last week and this week have more than made up for some of the slower offerings this summer. Big Jim is morphing into the villain we know him to be from the novel and it's been delicious to watch.

Buongiorno! Ciao bella! Today in film is bocco concerned with the Venice film festival, which had a splendido weekend and is gearing up for another lovely day on the Lido.
In case you weren't glued to your computer for the last couple of days, Signores Brooks and Pulver were working all ours to bring us news, reviews and even video from the piazzas. That's what happened to poor old JFK, according to Parkland, a new Rosencrantz and Guildernstern take on the deaths of the pres, and then, two days later, in the same hospital, Lee Harvey Oswald.

Hats off to Heidi Klum. The model-turned-mogul celebrated her 40th birthday on Saturday with a hat-themed party. But before she shared photos of the soiree, Klum took to Twitter to show off a gift from her children. "I'm 40! Look what I got from my 4 beautiful children. Thanks everyone for all the wishes, flowers, balloons and gifts," she Tweeted. In the photo, Klum holds what appears to be a shadow box containing four painted molds of her children's hands. Later that day, Klum shared a photo of her female friends posing with hat-shaped cakes at her party. "Thank you Nancy for...

New York — There was a time when most of the songs played on the radio came from Broadway. Now some popular hit makers like Cyndi Lauper and Sting are finding it still feels like home.
"Look, they don't break your balls that much here," Lauper said of the experience of composing "Kinky Boots," her debut musical. "Know what I'm saying? They don't friggin' aggravate you as much."
More and more singer-songwriters from the pop world seem to be hearing that siren song: The trickle of pop and rock stars turning to the stage is fast becoming a flood.
Besides Sting and Lauper, stars such as Sheryl Crow, John Mellencamp, Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, Edie Brickell, David Byrne, Fatboy Slim, Burt Bacharach, Elvis Costello and The Flaming Lips are making musicals.
The reasons are as varied as the different sounds those artists create: Broadway represents a new challenge. Or it offers...

Pierce Brosnan has saved the world from annihilation as James Bond, sang Abba for Mamma Mia!, and now he's hopping into a romantic comedy with acclaimed Danish director Susanne Bier for Love Is All You Need. The film sees his cold business man Philip thaw when he meets Ida (Trine Dyrholm), a hairdresser recovering from cancer, at his son's wedding in Italy.

Previously on Chicago Fire, Benny Severide arrived straight from his trip to New York where he shot a Senator, framed Peter Burke, and disappointed his son Neal. Wrong show? Right. Ok, he popped in from his beautiful hobo camp to grill Shay about her sexual orientation, and stir up trouble at the fire fighter prom. Dawson and Mills made the decision to come out as a couple, Casey did his best Finn Hudson and told Mills to “treat her right,” and Shay decided the best way to get over her ex was to get under several hot ladies. No? Damnit. She decided that the only way to fill that Clarice and Wesley shaped hole was to fill it with some sperm.
We start the episode with Dawson standing alone along the side of the road holding two coffee cups. A black SUV pulls up and it’s the Chief.

London, Mar 12: Abba's Agnetha Faeltskog is set to release her first album in nine years, on May 13, her record company has announced.
The 62-year-old popstar said in a statement that she never thought that she would sing again, but when she heard the first three songs she just couldn't say no, the Telegraph reported.
Faeltskog added that she hadn't written music in a long time but when she sat down at the piano, it all came to her naturally.
'When You Really Love Someone,' the first single from the upcoming full-length release 'A,' was made available on iTunes and Spotify on Monday, along with a music video on.

Dust off your finest beige lipstick, because today is a good day to be an Abba fan.
Abba alumna Agnetha Fältskog hasn't released an album since 2004's My Colouring Book (which went triple platinum in Sweden and gold in the UK), and she's finally ramping up to release her follow-up album A on May 10. Thank your Swedish guardian angel (I get Bergman), because today you get to hear Agnetha's new single "When You Really Loved Someone."
Love the weird past tense. Love it. Check out the mature, awesomely sappy song below.
Gimme, gimme, gimme, because this video is money, money, money.
Look at those butter-colored glamor shots. I want this exact video to happen for Christine McVie in the near future.
This is exactly what a dignified Abba legend should be releasing in her 63rd year. It's a cute, sincere, stodgy, but classy video. Good for her. All we need...

2012 has been an astoundingly brilliant year for Bollywood’s male singers. Needless to say the following 5 gentlemen soared above their talented colleagues and made an unmistakable mark upon the face of Indian music.
5. Ayushman Khurana
One film and one song old, yet Ayushman cannot be more of a rockstar. Sure the man can act and hold a film on his shoulders, but who knew he could sing as well. Paani Da Rang, a sweet and simple Punjabi track took the audiences by storm with only one complaint, we were left hankering for more. Here’s hoping 2013 changes that.
4. Amit Trivedi & Vishal Dadlani
Both Mr. Trivedi and Mr. Dadlani are jacks-of-all-trades in that they successfully score chartbusting albums and have the pipes to match. Mr. Trevedi’s genius refusal to stick to the norm gives us inconceivable fusions but it’s his earthy vocals that surprise you more. Be it ‘Wakda...

Rihanna was already scheduled to chat with Andy Cohen on Facebook Live on Thursday, but first she had some important business to get out of the way: the music video for "Diamonds."
The song is the lead single off her upcoming album, "Unapologetic." "Diamonds" was produced by Benny Blanco and Stargate and written by Sia. It marked a strong departure from her recent work, which veered more toward electronic dance music. In an interview with The Huffington Post, Blanco explained how the single came together:
We were trying to come up with stuff for Rihanna for weeks. I was with Stargate, and we kept trying to come up with stuff that was cool. And we came up with some stuff, but it just sounded so much like Rihanna. Most of the time when people work with an artist, they don't give them what they need for the future, they give...

"Hitmaker" -- a term that's often thrown around loosely -- seems like the right label for Benny Blanco. The multi-platinum songwriter and producer's resume boasts a staggering 13 No. 1 singles, a tally even more impressive given that the man behind "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream," "Dynamite," "Tik Tok" and "Moves Like Jagger" is 24 years young.
And Blanco's star is about to get bigger: As a co-producer on Rihanna's lead single "Diamonds" (off the soon-to-be-released album, "Unapologetic") and Ke$ha's "Die Young," he currently has two songs in the top ten on Billboard's singles chart.
By working with the likes of Dr. Luke and Stargate (the latter of whom he collaborated with for "Diamonds"), Blanco has aligned himself with the top producers of the current generation of pop music. In spite -- or, perhaps, because -- of its incorporation of genres as diverse as hip-hop, country, dance and world music, pop music...

I love and hate what’s going on with Supernatural this season. Love — because I’m more into the show than I have been in a while. And hate because I don’t like what this year’s storytelling method is doing to my emotional state. But who am I kidding? My emotional state was subpar at best to begin with. So bring it on, show!
I say that now, of course, but next week, I’ll be back in a ball on my couch feeling my heart slowly break during Purgatory flashbacks. But I’m not alone in that,...

I’m simply floored by the amount of great TV on right now. Maybe I’m addicted. Maybe I need a life. And maybe I don’t care. It’s too much fun.
Also a blast? Answering your questions. So keep ‘em coming: spoilerroom@ew.com and via Twitter @EWSandraG.
‘Homeland’: What Now?!
If you haven’t watched last night’s episode, I recommend you skip over this little section.
I know, it’s rare that I give a spoiler warning within a spoiler column, but I would never want to ruin something as big as what happened at...

What was your favorite scene or quote?
Carissa: Dean's Hey, the rules are simple, Sam! You don't take a joint from a guy named Don and there are no dogs in the car!
Carla: When Sam got the burger for Dean. It was the first moment since they reunited that they were the brothers we love. Sam: It's a burger. Dean: It's a treasure.
Sean: You guys took two of the best lines. I’ll have to give it to Kevin’s quip about his girlfriend: “There...

HollywoodLife.com spotted Keri outside the Mondrian Soho in NYC -- the same hotel Chris is staying in! Could the two be preparing another musical collaboration? Chris Brown has been plenty busy while he's been in NYC, with his romantic rendezvous with Rihanna, but might he be focusing on a little business, as well? During his stay, Chris has been staying at the Mondrian Soho and HollywoodLife.com just saw Keri Hilson, his former collaborator, outside the hotel! Keri was spotted by HollywoodLife.com exclusively outside the Mondrian Soho on Wednesday, October 3. Knowing Chris and Keri's musical history together (the two collaborated on Keri's 2010 song "One Night Stand"), perhaps the two are working on a follow-up! Do you think Chris and Keri are working on new music together, HollywoodLifers?
