It looks like Timothy Olyphant shall be the chosen one.
The Hitman star is set to voice the terse, redoubtable Terminator – the epic character once portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator franchise – in the forthcoming anime series, Terminator Zero.

While replacing the legendary 76-year-old star is no short of a mammoth feat, fans seem to be excited about Olyphant’s casting as the voice actor for the cyborg assassin. At least half of the pressure must be alleviated for him after having secured the fandom’s support, and as for the other half, we’ll soon find out.

After directing Thor: The Dark World, filmmaker Alan Taylor moved on to Terminator Genisys. Released in 2015, it's widely considered the worst movie in the sci-fi franchise's storied history. Meant to serve as a reboot, it introduced a new timeline created when Skynet attempted to kill Sarah Connors as a child.
In the movie's big twist, we learned that Skynet had transformed Jason Clarke's John Connor into a Terminator-hybrid. Joining him in the cast were Emilia Clarke as Sarah, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, and Arnold Schwarzenegger as a T-800 dubbed "Pops."
Despite being heavily featured in bizarre promo photos, House of the Dragon star Matt Smith made a relatively minor appearance as the advanced T-5000 Terminator who embodies Skynet, and it sounds like shooting his scenes was a bemusing experience for the British actor.

After quite some time without news, Ed Boon and NetherRealm Studios finally confirmed the release date for the last character of Kombat Pack 1 in Mortal Kombat 1. Homelander, the popular main character from The Boys, will be available next week in the game.
Fans are not very pleased with the final version of this character; users on X say that it looks like a bad mod, and the lack of Antony Starr’s voice hurts the content. This was a strange choice, especially because Peacemaker has John Cena voicing the Dlc character.

"There is no future but what we make for ourselves" — the guiding principle of the Terminator franchise. Unfortunately, the real-life principle has largely amounted to, "There is no future but what Hollywood makes for the rest of us." This is one of those franchises where studios have rebooted, soft-rebooted, legacy-sequeled, and generally mangled what was once an innovative and interesting storyline into an incomprehensible mess — to the point that the saga's main star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is now done with the franchise.
It's a sad state of affairs for this once great sci-fi story. Still, there's hope as long as creator James Cameron harbors a desire to make another Terminator movie based on A.I. For the time being, though, we're left with what has become an unnecessarily complicated Terminator timeline, leaving anyone trying to figure out the correct order to watch the Terminator movies confused. The Whiplash star commits himself to the role of rampage killer on a motorbike rampage that ultimately lacks forward momentum
Veteran actor Jk Simmons (Whiplash) is the main reason to watch this basic horror-thriller, which isn’t as horrific or thrilling as one might hope. Simmons plays Wade, a cold-as-ice killer on a rampage, who kicks off the action by shooting some random people at a gas station. One of whom asks: “Why are you doing this?”; Wade’s response is: “Does it matter?” This could have stood up as an interesting moment of frank nihilistic confession on behalf of a movie genre that loves to invent motivations for maniacs when it probably doesn’t need to bother; most of these kinds of films are about the thrill of the chase, and nobody really cares why the killer is a killer. It’s only a shame that this particular example...

Originally announced back in 2021, “Terminator: The Anime Series” over at Netflix is now titled “Terminator Zero,” and Entertainment Weekly has an in-depth preview this week.
“Terminator Zero” comes from Showrunner/Executive Producer/Writer Mattson Tomlin (Project Power, The Batman II), and Tomlin explains to Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming series will return to the horror vibe of James Cameron’s original sci-fi slasher.
Tomlin explains, “There’s a completely valid version of the Terminator franchise where the Terminator is synonymous with Jason and Freddy, where he is this unrelenting serial killer. There’s a little bit of Friday the 13th in here. There’s a little bit of Michael Myers in here.”
The outlet’s preview piece today also makes it clear that “Terminator Zero” is in-canon with every previous film in the franchise, and that the Connor family is not part of the storyline.

Mortal Kombat 1 may have issues, but its ability to bring together strong individuals from various franchises makes it stand out in the fighting genre. From Invincible‘s Omni-Man to The Suicide Squad‘s Peacemaker, the latest NetherRealm title’s had no shortage of excellent guest characters, and the developer has shared a first look at another supervillain who will be making his Mortal Kombat debut soon.
The absence of Antony Starr’s voice is glaring, but everything else looks faithful to what Homelander’s all about, including drinking milk in a disturbing way.

How else can one get the required nutrition for brutal fights in Mortal Kombat 1?
After Prime Video shared the trailer for the fourth season of The Boys, Mortal Kombat 1 got on the hype train and unleashed its first look at the unhinged supervillain from the show joining the game.

As far as iconic roles go, you can do no better than the Terminator. Starting off the franchise as a terrifying bad guy, the T-800 is quite possibly the most famous robot in all of science fiction, and somehow one of the most beloved. Even in that first movie where he's a deadly force of nature, he's still so cool and intimidating that one can't help but respect him a little. Everyone likes a guy who's good at his job, even when the job is dooming humanity.
Although the role helped make Arnold Schwarzenegger a household name, the actor himself wasn't thrilled about the idea when it was first offered. "I said, "No, no, no — look, the guy has 17 lines,'" he explained in a 2014 oral history of the first film. Most actors want to get meaty, dialogue-heavy roles to show what they're capable of. Meanwhile, "The Terminator" not only...

Arnold Schwarzenegger has accomplished a fair bit in his life. The man came over from Austria having served in the army, claimed the Mr. Olympia title a full seven times, then launched one of the most successful Hollywood careers in the history of the industry, before becoming governor of California and finding time to marry a Kennedy in the process. But surely what he's really concerned with are his Rotten Tomato scores.
Having recently starred in his own Netflix series, "Fubar," recounted his remarkable life in the streamer's "Arnold" documentary, and whipped Jake from State Farm into shape for a Super Bowl commercial, the Austrian Oak is now gearing up for his Christmas comedy with "Reacher" star Alan Ritchson. “It just doesn’t work”: Sylvester Stallone Trolls Himself, Revealed Why He Can Never Play Terminator
Having suffered paralysis in his lip, chin, and part of his tongue due to birth complications, which resulted in his speech becoming slurred, Sylvester Stallone was frequently picked on at schools. But Stallone did eventually overcome the odds and found his footing in Hollywood, starting with 1976’s Rocky, the Expendables star’s distinct accent becoming as iconic as the actor himself.
However, despite rising to stardom, the Rocky star playfully admitted that he could never play one major character following his slurred speech, which made his biggest rival an icon in the 80s.

"I always come back!" Who is this guy, The Terminator? Gravitas Ventures has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror thriller film titled Mister Sleep, from British filmmaker Rob Hollocks. This is arriving to watch in early April on VOD if anyone wants to stay up late and find out what Mister Sleep is up to... Or maybe just go to sleep instead. This serial killer thriller is about a deranged murderer known as Mr. Sleep who takes retribution on a group of insomnia patients that he believes stole his memories. Starring Claire Marie Lubeck, Alec James, Kate Dailey, Austin Rhodes, Bronsonn Taylor, Anna Borchet, and Ashley Terpstra. Even though they made this big bad villain look unique, the rest of the film does not look unique at all. It seems super cheap & cheesy, but maybe it'll use that kitsch to its advantage. Or maybe not. // Continue Reading ›...

The Helldivers 2 craze simply refuses to subside, even after a month since its launch. The co-op shooter just received its first content addition, Cutting Edge Warbonds, on 14 March. The update has added new weapons and mechs to the game, but only after a critical community mission to liberate Tien Kwan.
Arrowhead’s incredibly creative method of making mechs available to players worked so well, that it actually made the game’s servers buckle, evoking bitter memories of its launch. Now, the Swedish developer seems to be teasing the return of a lethal alien race that could do with a dose of liberty.

"The Terminator" is a perfect movie. /Film's own Jacob Hall has argued director James Cameron has never surpassed it. Cameron knows how to get his money's worth from Titanic-sized budgets and the filmmaking world is a better place when he gets to reach the peak of his ambitions. Still, "The Terminator" — a lean sci-fi slasher that's both exciting and foreboding — shows that Cameron could still spin gold with more modest tools.
Even if "The Terminator" isn't much of an actor's picture, it's well-cast, particularly Michael Biehn as haggard time traveler Kyle Reese and, of course, Arnold Schwarzenegger as the titular cyborg assassin. This film was a key step in Schwarzenegger's climb to being the biggest movie star in the world. Even so, it's something of a Hollywood legend how these two weren't the initial picks for these roles.
In particular, it's spread through the grapevine that O.J. Simpson was considered to star as the Terminator.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was a guy always known for his famous and outrageous stunts, both inside and outside the set. But this one time he had everyone shocked during his visit to a WWE show as he got up from his chair and began to tackle down WWE athlete Triple H. Although this could be seen as a stunt to promote his then-upcoming movie, End of Days, it caught the eye of everyone.
For Arnold Schwarzenegger, both boxing and professional wrestling are the sports of his greatest liking. He has been spotted attending many boxing matches and WWE events over the years, and has even made appearances in both. He understands the hard work and dedication that goes into these sports, and he appreciates the athleticism and entertainment value that they provide.

This post contains spoilers for episode one of "Reacher" season 2.
After a long wait, Alan Ritchson's Reacher is finally back for more punching-bad-guys-really-hard in the face action. This time, there's one particular bad guy who is surely heading for one of the most epic "Reacher" beatings yet.
Prior to the second season's debut, it was announced that Robert Patrick had replaced Rory Cochrane in the role of Shane Langston, a former NYPD detective who now heads up security for a private defense contractor.
While Langston doesn't appear in "Bad Luck and Trouble," the book on which "Reacher" season 2 is based, he seems to be a version of the character Allen Lamaison, an ex-LAPD officer who, in the novel, became the director of the defense contractor New Age. Intro: There’s one line that will forever go down in movie history as one of the most iconic moments of dialogue ever, and it was almost never to be. While filming the 1984 sci-fi / action / horror classic The Terminator, director James Cameron had initially written the line for Arnold Schwarzenegger as “I’ll come back”. However, as seen in the recent Netflix documentary series on the Austrian Oak, Arnie and Cameron had a heated clash over the line. Schwarzenegger hadn’t said the line correctly so Cameron suggested he just say the now iconic “I’ll be back” instead, leading Arnie to questioning the director’s writing, and getting a suitably pissed-off response in return.
This is just one example of how The Terminator not only became one of the most beloved movie franchises in Hollywood history, well, it is if you stop at part two that is, but that’s a story for later.

Grindhouse is one of the most influential box office failures of the 21st century. Despite grossing a paltry $25.4 million at the box office on a budget of around $60 million, Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s 2007 love letter to exploitation cinema has managed to spawn four spin-off movies — Machete, Machete Kills, Hobo with a Shotgun, and now Thanksgiving— in addition to reintroducing a vintage aesthetic that has been mimicked by countless other throwback movies.
Rodriguez’s Planet Terror and Tarantino’s Death Proof each have their merits — the former plays like a satirical pastiche of nonstop action, while the latter is more indicative of genuine exploitation fare — but Grindhouse is more than just a double feature. It’s an experience, complete with faux aging to recreate the look of beat-up film prints along with vintage interstitials and retro-inspired trailers for nonexistent movies.

Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed on “The Graham Norton Show” that he once hired an accent removal coach to try and do away with his thick Austrian accent for good. Aside from his jacked muscles, the action star’s accent is his most definitive quality as a performer.
“I had an English coach and an acting coach and a speech coach and an accent-removal coach, who has passed away since then, but I should have otherwise gotten my money back,” Schwarzenegger said while looking back on his early days trying to make it big in the industry. “The bottom line is, I worked on it. I remember he’d say, ‘You know you always say s-ree. It’s three, with a T-h.’ So he had me say, ‘Three thousand three hundred and thirty-three and one-third,’ with the T-h and not with the S.”

Daniil Medvedev once again had trouble with Grigor Dimitrov but still came out on top in three sets at the 2023 Vienna Open .
Dimitrov has been known to give Medvedev some problems, especially when he's playing as well as he has this year. He's had a pretty great year overall, arguably his best in quite some time.
They played last year in Vienna, and Medvedev won that match, and the same thing happened one year later. It didn't come easy, though, as the Russian struggled in the opening set because Dimitrov was amazing.
He was all over the court, putting Medvedev in quite a lot of uncomfortable positions, which resulted in far too many errors. That, along with the super solid play from Dimitrov, and heavy balls that the Russian dislikes , was enough for the Bulgarian to win the opening set 6-3.
The script flipped completely in the second set as Medvedev turned into Terminator,...

Arnold Schwarzenegger stressed the importance of discomfort and failure as a means to an end of personal growth Wednesday, saying it was a founding principle that made the U.S. strong while warning that too many of today’s youth live sheltered lives.
Schwarzenegger, talking to Howard Stern on his SiriusXM radio show, shot into an extended, interruption-free monologue on the subject. In it, he cautioned Americans against “creating a generation of wimps and weak people” by pampering their younger generations.
“Anybody that tries to baby themselves, and pamper themselves and protect themselves — ‘Oh, I don’t want to feel bad, I don’t really want to go through any discomfort’ — It’s over! You’re never going to get there,” Schwarzenegger said. “It’s just the way it is. You have to be able to struggle.”

The recent trend of docu-feature series exploring the history of popular IPs is gradually becoming popular among dedicated fans due to how genuinely interesting and informative they can be. The most recently released among such ventures is the first season of Robodoc: The Creation of Robocop, a Screambox original, which takes a look back at the excruciating production process, development, and brainstorming that went behind the 1987 sci-fi classic Robocop. The movie is still considered one of the topmost sci-fi pieces ever released by Western media, which was not only topical and philosophical but it has also proven itself to be timeless, at least in the current era more than ever.
The four one-hour-long episodes, which include excerpts from detailed narrations of the chief creator duo Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner, director Paul Verhoeven, the Robocop actor Peter Weller himself, cinematographer Josh Vacano, production designer Phil Tippett, William Sandell (Rob Bottin...

Just about every movie leaves scenes on the cutting room floor, and The Terminator was no exception. However, one deleted scene from the James Cameron movie has always left Terminator fans wondering why it was dropped, and franchise producer Gale Anne Hurd has now explained the reason why.
The Terminator deleted scene took place at the end of the movie and featured a pair of scientists recovering pieces from the destroyed T-800. It’s revealed that they’re from Cyberdyne, the very company that would go on to develop Skynet. Given that this scene helped complete the time loop, some fans believed that it should have been left in, but Gale Anne Hurd explained that James Cameron axed it because of the non-professional actors he was forced to use.

The good news is that the hour didn't feel as though it was hurtling through too much plot at lightning speed.
As a result, Harlan Coben's Shelter Season 1 Episode 4 was infinitely easier to follow but still filled with twists and that tense cliffhanger.
We also have some confirmation about Ashley's whereabouts, but for how long?
As suspected, Rachel is a friend, not a foe, and Bat Lady remains one of the series' most puzzling characters.
Shelter is one of those series that, more often than not, makes it challenging to keep up with all the little tidbits they throw at us as it spins about a dozen plots simultaneously on its axis.
Nevertheless, it's an intriguing ride, and whether you can keep up with everything or not, it's nothing short of entertaining, primarily due to the likability of many of the series' characters and how well the actors do at bringing them to life.

‘Blue Beetle’ Review: DC Superhero Origin Story Succeeds with a Mix of ’80s-Style VFX and Low Stakes
Is comic-book movie culture reaching a tipping point…into peak exhaustion? This summer, we’ve seen signs of that in the ho-hum box-office returns for “The Flash” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” To be fair, the mega-success of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” has testified to the genre’s continuing appeal. Still, there are onscreen indicators that the superhero-movie audience, while it remains vast, might be entering the thrill-is-gone zone. As more and more of these films become cogs in a multiverse, their imaginative appeal tends to get trampled by the dictates of corporate world-building. (That “Ant-Man” sequel was designed to set up a saga of villainy longer than the Ring cycle.) Beyond that, it’s hard to escape the sensation that superhero films have become terminally top-heavy with self-importance. The fate of the cosmos seems to ride on almost every one of them.

Season 5 of the Netflix series Stranger Things – which also happens to be the final season of the show – was supposed to be a couple months into filming at this point. But production was delayed by the writers strike, then the writers were joined on the picket lines by members of the Screen Actors Guild. So it’s going to be a little while before this season finally gets up and running. While we wait for the strikes to be resolved, Stranger Things creators Duffer Brothers have gone ahead and revealed that the character of Will Byers, played by Noah Schnapp, will be taking center stage in this last season.
The first season of Stranger Things began with Will Byers disappearing into the twisted dimension known as the Upside Down. He eventually got out of there, but he has had plenty of troubles to deal with in the following seasons. Will...

When Star Trek Generations came out in 1994, it did a lot better than anyone expected. In fact, it did just about as well at the box office as Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country did, leading many to believe that the Next Generation crew seemed primed for a long run on the big screen. Up to this point, Paramount’s primary goal for making Star Trek movies was to keep the budgets as low as possible. After all, the series never did all that well internationally, so there was no reason to give them an A-budget. But, that thinking changed, for a while anyway, when Paramount went ahead and greenlit the most ambitious Star Trek movie since The Motion Picture: Star Trek First Contact.

The "Halloween" franchise is one of the most iconic and enduring in all of horror. Beginning 45 years ago with director John Carpenter's seminal classic, audiences have enjoyed the saga of Michael Myers and his brand of slasher goodness across many different incarnations -- not to mention somewhat confusing timelines. 25 years ago, one of the most important entries in the series hit theaters in the form of "Halloween H20: 20 Years Later." Arriving 20 years after the original, the film brought Jamie Lee Curtis back as Laurie Strode for the first time since 1981's "Halloween II." It was a big deal. The only problem? Michael Myers looked like an absolute clown for the movie's entire runtime thanks to his unforgivably bad mask.
Let's set the stage a touch. The series had been kind of a mess because "Halloween 4" killed off Laurie off-screen and things got really weird in 1995's "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.

After Conan, The Terminator, Red Sonja and Commando – Arnie took on a very different kind of role at this point in his career and showcased glimpses of the charm and gravitas that he would eventually fully display in films like True Lies and Kindergarden Cop.

Believe it or not, there used to be a time where movie sequels were actually an incredibly rare thing. As it was, audiences felt that movies and even tv shows should have definitive stories and points that they were trying to make and why would anybody bother making a sequel to what should have been a conclusive story? But now, in an era where Hollywood values established IP and fanbases more than any potential original project, sequels have become the norm.
It isn’t necessarily a bad thing that sequels have taken over cinemas, provided that the sequels are just as good as the originals and come out with their own original plot-lines. Like all movies, whether or not a person might enjoy a surplus of sequels is preferential and is more so dependent on the subject material, especially if it’s regarding a franchise that the audience has taken a liking too.

Arnold Schwarzenegger revisited his iconic role as The Terminator in the titular film T2: Judgment Day. But some of the differences the film’s director James Cameron made for the film raised some alarms for the actor.

Although Schwarzenegger would return to the Terminator franchise in 1992’s Judgment Day, his character would be slightly different. In The Terminator, Schwarzenegger played a brutal killing machine responsible for several deaths in the feature.
But in Judgment Day, Schwarzenegger noticed this aspect of his character was absent from the script. In an interview with The Ringer, Cameron recalled Schwarzenegger’s trepidation towards the project.
“We were pals at this point. Post-Terminator, we rode motorcycles together. And he said, ‘Jim, I have a big problem with the script.’ I said, ‘Well, what is it?’ And he said,...

Arnold Schwarzenegger claims The Terminator franchise, which launched his career in 1984, predicted the future of artificial intelligence.
While speaking at An Evening with Arnold Schwarzenegger in Los Angeles on Wednesday, People reported that the actor talked about how writer-director James Cameron’s theories on AI in the films have “become a reality.”
“Today, everyone is frightened of it, of where this is gonna go,” he said of the controversial technology. “And in this movie, in Terminator, we talk about the machines becoming self-aware and they take over.”
AI is currently at the center of a huge debate in Hollywood and other industries surrounding the technology’s use. It also comes as programs like ChatGPT have risen in popularity across social media.
Schwarzenegger, who plays a cyborg assassin known as a Terminator in the movies, added that “at that time we (had) scratched the surface of AI, artificial intelligence. Think about that.

“The first sketch I did showed a metal skeleton cut in half at the waist, crawling over a tile floor, using a large kitchen knife to pull itself forward while reaching out with the other hand. In a second drawing, the character is threatening a crawling woman.

The Arnold Schwarzenegger Netflix spy comedy “Fubar” starts out so unfettered by reality that it holds real promise.
Luke Brunner, the CIA operative played by Schwarzenegger, who is 75, is described as being 65.
