The 1996 version of The Island of Dr. Moreau, which was directed by John Frankenheimer (who replaced Richard Stanley after half a week of filming), is a well-known disaster, but that was just one of many cinematic adaptations H.G. Wells’ 1896 novel has received over the years. That novel has inspired the 1932 classic Island of Lost Souls, 1959’s Terror Is a Man, 1972’s The Twilight People, a 1977 film that actually kept the The Island of Dr. Moreau title, the Full Moon production Dr. Moreau’s House of Pain, and more. Now we can add another title to the list, as Deadline reports that Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins has signed on to star in the The Island of Dr. Moreau reimagining Eyes in the Trees.

A seminal work of science fiction published in 1896, The Island of Dr. Moreau has inspired numerous screen adaptations over the years, including 1932’s Island of Lost Souls and 1977’s The Island of Dr. Moreau starring Burt Lancaster. Most famous among them is the 1996 film of the same name,...

Today’s feature includes details on a Wes Craven art exhibition, the first sighting of Megafoot, a 100 zombie films graphical print, first photos from Australian Horror film, Barrow, an interview with actor, writer, and filmmaker Sean Stone, and much more:
The Horror Legacy of Wes Craven Exhibit Details: “Wes Craven has been feeding our collective horror consciousness since 1972, when his first feature, “The Last House on the Left,” debuted. That film was gritty, raw and terrifying, it still causes a guttural reaction some 40 years later. In his career, Wes has created some of the most memorable moments in horror cinema, from the torture scene in “The Serpent and the Rainbow,” to the Johnny Depp’s explosive scene in “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” to the first glimpse of Michael Berryman’s savagery in “The Hills Have Eyes.

I love a good dark comedy so Killing Winston Jones sounds like a good one based on the casting news. Variety reports that Richard Dreyfuss, Danny Masterson, Danny Glover and Jon Heder have joined the cast.
Joel David Moore (Bones, Avatar) is directing based on a script from Justin T. Winter. Story follows "a sixth-grade English teacher (played by Masterson) who's on a mission to get the newly constructed junior high gymnasium named after his father (Dreyfuss) despite the fact that the person so memorialized must be dead -- leading to a bitter contest over the naming rights with his old rival (Glover)."
Killing Winston Jones is being produced by RadioactiveGiant's Albert Sandoval and Daemon Hillin. This is the first feature film for the company. Tom Somerset and Peter Winther are serving as exec producers. Filming begins Monday in Savannah, Ga. The film will be released in theaters and the typical platforms.
