Jimmy Fallon rang in the solar eclipse as only he can on Monday night’s Tonight Show.
Fallon opened his show with a message to viewers: “We have a special show tonight: Heart is our musical guest, and obviously today is the solar eclipse. So we thought we have to do what we have to do. We have to sing ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ with Heart, while watching the solar eclipse.”
Donning solar glasses and an eighties era hairstyle and suit, the Tonight Show host then took to the roof of 30 Rock where he joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers in a rocking edition of Bonnie Tyler’s 1983 hit. Naturally it ended with a callback to the song’s ridiculous music video.
Monday night wasn’t Heart’s first appearance with Fallon. In 2010 they appeared on an episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

With the success of the first movie, the second installment introduced Tom Hardy’s Bane who forced Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne to resume his role as Batman. Though the former’s character often garnered comparison with the late Heath Ledger’s Joker, he faced yet another challenge.

During her acceptance speech for best record of the year at the 2024 Grammys for “Flowers,” Miley Cyrus made sure to thank her mom, Tish, and half-sister, Brandi, who attended the ceremony with her, noticeably omitting her other sister, Noah, and father, Billy Ray Cyrus. A reunited Heart performed their first show in over four years on Wednesday night (December 27th) at the Yaamava’ Resort & Casino in Highland, California.
The legendary rock group fronted by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson had previously announced a New Year’s Eve reunion concert in their hometown of Seattle, Washington. Even though it’s received reverent reviews from music critics, Ringo Starr criticized The Beatles’ “Rain.” He compared it to other songs that feature his drumming. While “Rain” was a hit in the United States, it didn’t even chart in the United Kingdom.
Ringo Starr said The Beatles’ ‘Rain’ is ‘certainly different than 99% of’ his work
During a 2015 interview with Goldmine, Ringo discussed his drumming on “Rain.” “It’s not my best playing; it’s just different,” he said. “I played ‘Rain’ and I’ve never played like it since or before it. It’s very busy for me.”
“I always tend to take the fill half-time whereas with that song it was full-on [smacks his hands] fast!” he added. “If anyone asks me about my strangest drumming, it’s ‘Rain.’ I don’t think it’s the best I ever played and I don’t think it’s the most inventive...

Elvis Presley‘s daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, discussed her feelings about singing. One of her female inspirations worked with the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. The rest of them became huge stars as solo singers.
Lisa Marie Presley loved a female vocal group that worked with Elvis Presley
During a 2012 interview with Goldmine, Presley discussed musicians who connected to her. “When I was younger I loved The Sweet Inspirations,” she said. “I loved the song ‘Sweet Inspiration.’ They were like The Supremes then but they weren’t as high profile. I think they were underrated because my father snagged them at some point.”
The Sweet Inspirations performed backing vocals on some of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s albums from his comeback era. In addition, the band released albums of their own and performed backup vocals on albums by artists such as Petula Clark, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Dusty Springfield,...

Dolly Parton has returned with the latest single from her forthcoming album, Rock Star: an anthemic cover of “Wrecking Ball” featuring Miley Cyrus herself. Stream the song below.
Beginning with a soft piano intro, the song crescendos into a full-on pop ballad by its first chorus, with Parton and Cyrus harmonizing the signature hook. Cyrus then takes on the second verse, as a drum part drops, and thick, distorted rock guitars add an extra layer of oomph. By the bridge, orchestral strings carry the progression, and Parton and Cyrus belt together in a call-and-response fashion, with Parton impressively taking on the higher parts.
When the song reaches its grand conclusion, the two throw in a last-second interpolation of Parton’s hit, “I Will Always Love You,” singing one round of that song’s iconic hook before finally landing on a sweet, major chord resolution. Stream the single below.

Summer is long gone and it’s time to look beyond the blockbuster. Our latest study of recent books about or related to the world of filmmaking is full of artistic titans––Sofia Coppola, Whit Stillman, Clint Eastwood, Christian Petzold, Kore-eda Hirokazu, Wes Anderson. This column also boasts a lengthy rundown of noteworthy novels, many of which will surely be brought to large and small screens in years to come.
Archive by Sofia Coppola (MacK)
In recent years this column has covered several books focused on the iconic, inimitable Sofia Coppola, including a hardcover career overview and interview collection. Archive is constructed from the personal collection of the writer-director of The Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette herself. And as one would expect from a filmmaker known for her sense of style, fashion, and design, the result is positively gorgeous. It is packed with photos, ephemera, collages, and text––nearly 500 pages’ worth.

Despite being a country legend in her own right, Reba McEntire doesn’t have much of a leg up on the average person when it comes to contacting the one and only Dolly Parton. In a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, McEntire revealed that she can only reach Parton via fax.
“Dolly does not text,” McEntire said in a segment called “Textual Behavior.” When asked whether Parton uses email or can be reached on a landline, McEntire said her only option is through “fax.”
She continued, “I don’t have her telephone number and I asked Kenny Rogers one time. I said, ‘Do you have Dolly’s number?’ He said, ‘No.’ Maybe he said that because he didn’t want to give it to me. I don’t know.

Attendees at Ann Wilson’s show in Santa Rosa, California Tuesday night (October 10th) got a special surprise when she brought out her sister and Heart bandmate Nancy Wilson onstage, marking the first time the two have performed together since 2019.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we have the answer to a question with us tonight,” Ann said from the stage. “A very, very good friend — more than a friend…let’s bring her out. Come on.”
Naturally, the two then performed Heart’s 1977 classic “Barracuda.” Per Setlist.fm, it was the closing number for the evening, during which Ann also played handful of other Heart songs along with covers of John Lennon, The Who, Queen, and Led Zeppelin. See a clip of the Wilsons doing “Barracuda” together below.

Around 10:20 p.m. on Saturday night, a shadowy group of figures walked onto the Farm Aid stage at the Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana. This was supposed to be the moment where Wille Nelson wrapped up the night, but there was no sign of the Red Headed Stranger or his band. Instead, another act was plugging in instruments on the darkened stage. There was no announcement of any kind, and the large screens on both sides of the stage went completely blank for the first time all day.

Dolly Parton has released the latest cover from her upcoming rock album, a rendition of the ’90s staple “What’s Up?” by 4 Non Blondes. As with many of the reimagined hits on Rockstar, Parton recruited one of the original artists: vocalist Linda Perry. Stream the track below.
Rather than trying to mimic Perry’s original vocals, Parton leans into her strengths on “What’s Up?” and sings “from the top of my lungs” as only she can. Three decades later, the song’s theme of intense societal pressures remains universal. Directed by Steve Summers, the video for the song was filmed at Eakin Elementary School in downtown Nashville. Check it out below.
“First of all, I love Linda Perry. Second of all, I love this song written by Linda,” the always gracious Parton said in a statement. “Third of all, I love being a part of this video to try...

For her latest rock cover, Dolly Parton takes a deep breath and gets real high on a cover of 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up?” She even gets a little help from the song’s writer and original singer, Linda Perry.
In Parton’s hands, the tune has a country swing to the rhythm and a little twang in the way she sings “peculiar,” that’s anything but peculiar. There’s also a special weight to the song’s final words: “After years and my life is still tryin’ to get...

Ann Wilson of Heart has unveiled the single “This Is Now” from her upcoming album with her backing band Tripsitter. The LP, titled Another Door, arrives on September 29th.
Wilson wrapped up recording sessions for Another Door before her 2023 tour. The album features all-original material, and marks the first time since the 1970s that the singer-songwriter has released a full-length album collectively with a band. In addition to Wilson, Tripsitter features bassist Tony Lucido, guitarist Ryan Wariner, drummer Sean T Lane, and guitarist-keyboardist Paul Moak. The album also features contributions from guitarist Tom Bukovac.
Another Door makes a bit of history for Wilson, as it’s the first time in her career where she was the sole lyricist. “This is an exciting time in my creative life; so much new and fresh to remind me of why I love my calling,” she said in a statement.

After 10 seasons, “The Masked Singer” is getting a panel shake-up — but theoretically, it should only be temporary. Rita Ora will be stepping in for Nicole Scherzinger for Season 11.
The change comes as Scherzinger prepares to star in the West End revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Sunset Boulevard.” Performances begin this month, and the show is set to run for 16 weeks.
Unfortunately for Scherzinger, the show spans the filming of Season 11 of “The Masked Singer,” which began this month.
Ora is no stranger to “The Masked Singer,” being an alum of “The Masked Singer UK.” She’s also helped out on “The Voice Australia,” as well as “The X-Factor UK,” and will join all the Og panelists for the 2024 season, guesting alongside Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg.

“The Masked Singer” has officially made it to 10 seasons. On Sunday night, they celebrated in full force with a huge lead-in as the new football season kicks off. Following the start of the NFL’s 104th season, the show aired a special standalone episode with a huge unmasking.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 10 season premiere of “The Masked Singer,” which aired Sept. 10 on Fox.
“The Masked Singer” kicked off its 10th season on Sunday night with a special episode — and a lotta Lovato. Demi Lovato as “Anonymouse” was the first celebrity unmasked this season — although there’s an asterisk there. Lovato didn’t appear as part of the competition (otherwise they absolutely would have continued into future weeks), but as a one-off.
Lovato, of course, got their start at Disney — a.k.a. the Mouse House — via the Disney Channel movie “Camp Rock” and series “Sonny with a Chance.” So the “Anonymouse” character itself was most definitely a hint to Lovato’s identity under the mask.
