Justice League may not be the greatest or most successful film of 2017, but Zack Snyder’s ensemble piece will still be remembered as one of the more historic movies ever created under Warner Bros.’ roof – regardless of the box office numbers and/or Rotten Tomatoes score.
Bringing together DC’s finest roster of heroes, Justice League certainly delivered on the action front, as Batman and the gang joined forced in the face of a common enemy: Steppenwolf. Ciarán Hinds’ butt-ugly supervillain didn’t make much of a first impression – no thanks to the film’s spotty CGI – and if you’re wondering why Warner Bros. never considered delaying Justice League to allow more time for visual effects, a new report from The Wrap claims corporate greed intervened.

As is tradition in the DC Universe, “Justice League” has opened to mixed reviews and disappointing box-office numbers. The superhero team-up movie, which was finished by Joss Whedon after Zack Snyder had to step down to deal with a family tragedy, begins with Batman defeating an evildoer in a scene that few have singled out as being especially memorable.
According to the actor who played said ruffian, the scene was envisioned as being much funnier by Whedon — but Warner Bros. made him change it.

Warning: There are light spoilers for “Justice League” ahead. You may have missed it, but that burglar Batman (Ben Affleck) fights in the opening scene of “Justice League” was “Mindhunter” star Holt McCallany, and the actor said the scene was originally much more comedic than the version that ended up in theaters. “My scene with Batman was originally conceived as a comedic scene,” McCallany told Men’s Fitness in a recent interview. “That’s how Joss wrote it, and that’s how we shot it. I know a lot of fans are wondering what scenes from Justice League were written and directed by Joss Whedon. We know all the Superman scenes where we see him with the CGI upper lip were done by Whedon. Now we know that the opening scene involving Batman capturing a burglar to lure out a Parademon was Whedon's doing as well.
The big reveal comes from actor Holt McCallany, who played the burglar. He explains in an interview with Comic Book that the opening scene was originally supposed to be more comedic. In fact, Whedon originally shot the scene they way he intended it to play out, but then Warner Bros. stepped in and had him change it up. That's kind of weird because the whole reason the studio wanted Joss Whedon on board was to lighten things up! Then he does that and they tell him to make it darker again.

These days, every big budget comic book movie is met with speculation about the amount of “studio interference” involved in production, but with Justice League, this speculation is augmented by the question of where director Zack Snyder’s work ends, and where the additional material and reshoots of Joss Whedon begins.
This is because Snyder had to depart the project after production ended, and Whedon – who had already been working on the script – was drafted in to handle post-production and reshoots. Producer Charles Roven subsequently conceded that the theatrical release then consisted of about 15-20% Joss Whedon footage, but fans suspect that may be underselling it a bit.
Now, as the film defies expectation and actually gains momentum at the box office, after a somewhat muted start, actor Holt McCallany (star of the Netflix series Mindhunter), has shed some interesting light on his own involvement in the movie, and the...

While Justice League‘s $96 million weekend Us debut may have fallen a little below Warner Bros' wishes, it did still prove there's commercial mileage in the series. Further, it re-established Henry Cavill as Superman on the big screen. Given that there had been reports of a possible Man Of Steel 2, it's now opened up a different path for the blue tights man.

The extensive reshoots that Joss Whedon helmed for Justice League are well-documented, but we still don’t know the whole story of what went on behind the scenes. We’ve been told that only 15-20% of the finished product is the work of Whedon, for instance, but that doesn’t seem to tally with how much of the movie feels Whedonesque rather than Zack Snyder-flavoured.
In a new interview with THR, however, composer Danny Elfman goes someway to shining a light on how rushed Justice League‘s production was. For one, he revealed that Whedon only contacted him to write the film’s score at the “very last second.”
“I got the call from Joss very last second. I got the call and it was, ‘You have to decide now and then go to work tomorrow.’”

This isn’t the first particularly bizarre bit of news to come out lately in regards to Justice League, but it is perhaps the most off-putting. First there was the realization that The Flash wouldn’t be called that in the movie. Then came the reveal that Aquaman wouldn’t have his iconic trident in the film, despite him using the weapon in all of the trailers and promotional material. And despite having only one name on the movie’s director byline (sorry Joss), that man – Dceu mainstay Zack Snyder – hasn’t seen the version of Justice League hitting theaters this weekend. On

With the success of Marvel’s The Avengers movies, it was inevitable that Warner Bros’ DC brand of comic book superheroes would go tit for tat and find a way to save the universe together. Justice League calls to duty Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Cyborg, Aquaman and Superman to battle Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds), a new evil villain — not the rock band — in a DC all-star package. But despite the talents of screenwriters Chris Terrio (Oscar winner for Argo) and Joss…...

Wherever you stand in the great DC Extended Universe debates, we can all agree that Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice was a divisive movie. This has given rise to something of a conspiracy theory about ‘Snyder haters,’ and people simply tearing down the filmmaker’s work for their own reasons. The unfortunate situation that arose during post-production of Justice League – with Snyder having to step away, and Joss Whedon stepping in to complete reshoots – has only added fuel to that fire. Now, however, producer Charles Roven has sought to put that debate to rest.
To be clear, Zack Snyder completed production on the film, and had to leave the project during post-production due to a family bereavement. This did not stop rumours of discord between him and Warner Bros. over the direction of the DC franchise, though. Bringing in Joss Whedon – famous for his involvement in...

Jason Momoa is national treasure. He is looking out for the fans, and letting you know if you should stay, or go, during those Justice League Credits!
It has become a staple for the McU. Post credit scenes. While they didn’t invite the trope, they sure have perfected it. Whether they are just poking fun, or giving us a look into the next big film, or just a small tease of what’s to come. Now it looks as if WB and the DC Films are looking to jump in on the fun of adding a little extra for the audiences after the credits.
Comicbook.com is reporting that while speaking with BBC Radio 2, Jason Momoa let the fans in on a little secret.
“They do [have to watch right through the end]. You gotta sit through the whole thing, go through the credits.”

The supposed rivalry between Marvel and DC isn’t one Kevin Feige buys into.
Currently in the midst of Thor: Ragnarok‘s globetrotting press tour, the McU architect recently spoke to Crave Online about the God of Thunder, Avengers: Infinity War, and what the future holds for Marvel’s shared universe, which has been printing money since the release of Iron Man back in 2008.
But when Crave asked Feige about the competition from Warner Bros., and the online vitriol it tends to provoke, the Marvel boss outright dismissed said rivalry as “ridiculous” and contrived. Drawing a line between the two comic book giants doesn’t benefit anyone, as Kevin Feige so rightly puts, and there’s no reason why ardent Marvel fans can’t go out and support Wonder Woman and Justice League – and vice versa.

I know a lot of fans have been concerned about the director transition from Zack Sndyer to Joss Whedon, but apparently, it seems like it was a seamless one that will still keep Zack Snyder's original vision intact.
During the Justice League press event, Ben Affleck and producers Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven opened up on the big transition and how fans shouldn't worry about it. When asked about the difference between working with Snyder and Whedon, Affleck said:
"People don't understand how much of the film is designed in pre. I found as a director you can maybe change 10 percent, 15 percent on the day. We really had Zack's ship set sail for us. We were fortunate in that when Zack was unable to continue, we got a guy who, I got the sense that Joss was working from what he had discussed with Zack before he stepped in.

Ben Affleck and producer Deborah Snyder talk the Justice League change from Zack Snyder to Joss Whedon...
It is no secret that the production process behind Justice League has been a complicated one that’s left fans curious. The film is the culmination of a story Zack Snyder began with 2013’s Man Of Steel and continued in the ambitious Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice last year. But due to a personal tragedy, Snyder was forced to step away from the post-production process of Justice League, leaving Joss Whedon to both finish the film and to helm enough reshoots that it gained Whedon a co-writing credit on the screenplay.
This dynamic was the elephant in the room during a Justice League press event in London that Den Of Geek Us attended, and both Ben Affleck and producer Deborah Snyder addressed it head on.

When Justice League descends into theaters on November 17th, it’ll bring an end to a long and at times convoluted saga involving far-flung story rumors, heated speculation, and two seasoned filmmakers in Joss Whedon and Zack Snyder.
Earlier this year, the latter was forced to vacate the director’s chair to tend to a personal tragedy, leaving Warner’s DC mega-movie in the capable hands of Whedon, who’s no stranger to Hollywood’s superhero scene having launched both Avengers and its sequel, Age of Ultron – two films that helped shape and mold the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
But when Whedon answered the call, he traded Marvel for DC, and though the filmmaker won’t receive a director’s credit on Justice League, we understand he’ll be accredited for his contribution to the story, one that was fine-tuned alongside Chris Terrio (Star Wars: Episode IX). Two interesting nuggets of Justice League news broke this evening.
Firstly, to the shock of nobody, the film has been officially rated PG-13. While that comes as no surprise, it does at least suggest that Warner Bros. have finally finished their extensive editing process, and probably won’t need to call Ezra Miller back again to deliver some more snarky one-liners that they can awkwardly edit into the action scenes.
The other, more interesting, story is that Zack Snyder will take the sole directing credit, with Joss Whedon to either go uncredited or receive some lesser billing. Given the complexity of the Directors Guild of America’s rules on crediting, it’s unknown whether they’d have allowed the film to be billed as being “directed by Zack Snyder & Joss Whedon,” but it does suggest the Warner Bros. still ultimately considers this Snyder’s project.

We know that one of the things that was going to be different with Justice League was that it would have a lighter tone. In lieu of Zack Snyder, two-time Avengers director Joss Whedon will shepherd Justice League over the finish line.
That headline, one that first emerged back in May, sparked fears that Whedon’s last-minute appointment would result in Justice League becoming the DC equivalent of The Avengers, replete with zippy dialogue and light-hearted humor. And though the Age of Ultron filmmaker ordered some extensive reshoots upon climbing aboard, Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Co. firmly believe that Justice League is still Zack Snyder’s movie, even if the Internet says otherwise.
Despite vacating the director’s chair in order to tend to a personal tragedy alongside his wife and producing partner Deborah, Zack Snyder’s name remains on the Justice League masthead, with Joss Whedon receiving a screenwriting credit alongside Chris Terrio (Star Wars: Episode IX).

The news cycle hasn’t been too kind to Justice League and the DC Extended Universe. Wonder Woman herself is about to bless my unborn child. "Can I?" she asks, before spreading her long fingers around my pregnant belly. Her hands feel warm and maternal. She holds my gaze, unwavering. "Girl or boy?" she asks. "Girl," I tell her. Her smile widens. "Being a woman is a strength," she says. "In so many ways."

The recent news that director Zack Snyder would be stepping down from ‘Justice League‘ after the death of one of his daughters was shocking to say the least. Immediately, WB announced that Joss Whedon would step in as director to see that the film is completed. Whedon was already hired onto the project as a writer for the reshoots, since signing on to helm the in-development ‘Batgirl‘ film for the studio. Up until this time, Whedon had been working closely with Snyder on tightening up the film, as well as injecting his signature brand of humor into the project.
We’ve already seen the first trailer for ‘Justice League‘, which was clearly 100% Snyder. We alssaw the release of a special extended Comic-Con trailer, which had more of the Whedon brand, specifically with scenes of The Flash (Ezra Miller) in action. I’m sure the soon-to-be-released final trailer will give us...

It hasn't even been a month since The Hollywood Reporter revealed they had a source that claimed Ben Affleck was considering leaving the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman following Justice League, before he even starts the character's first solo movie in the DC Extended Universe, The Batman. The very next day, at San Diego Comic Con, Affleck immediately refuted the report with his own excitement, saying:
“Let me be very clear: I am the luckiest guy in the world. Batman is the coolest fucking part in any universe… DC, Marvel. It’s incredible. I’m so thrilled to do it. I know there’s this misconception that because I’m not directing that I’m not enthusiastic about it. It’s fucking amazing.”
Weeks later, is Affleck still feeling such enthusiasm? In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly about working with two directors on Justice League -- more on that in...

It was recently confirmed by actor Joe Morton, who plays Dr. Silas Stone in Justice League that the reshoots on the film were done to give it a lighter tone. Now a new interview with Ben Affleck has surfaced from Entertainment Weekly. In that interview, Affleck opens up about Zack Snyder stepping down as the director and Joss Whedon stepping in. He says that the film is "an interesting product of two directors." Here's the full quote:
“It’s a little bit unorthodox. Zack had a family tragedy, and stepped off, which was horrible. For the movie, the best person we could’ve possibly found was Joss. We got really lucky that he stepped in. It’s an interesting product of two directors, both with kind of unique visions, both with really strong takes. I’ve never had that experience before making a movie. I have to say, I really love working with Zack,...

Admittedly, Justice League is a movie I’ve waited my entire life for, as it’s bringing several of my favorite characters together for the first time in live-action cinema. Likewise, I imagine that many of you reading this share that sentiment, hoping that the combined talents of directors Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon will make for a viewing experience like no other.
In the past few months, the subject of the reshoots this film continues to undergo has been a hot point for discussion, often being labeled by absolutist fanboys and conspiracy theorists as “fake news” or part of some “Dceu smear campaign” organized by the evil media.
Casting such hilarity aside, the fact of the matter is that reshoots began in June and are still currently ongoing, thus this is much more than what’s usually allotted to any sort of project. Most recently, actor Joe Morton confirmed...

“Batman” actor Ben Affleck is thankful Marvel vet Joss Whedon was available to take over “Justice League” reshoots after director Zack Snyder stepped down to deal with with the death of his daughter, attributed to suicide. “It’s a little bit unorthodox,” admits Ben Affleck. “Zack had a family tragedy, and stepped off, which was horrible. Comic book movie fans were excited when it was announced that Joss Whedon was directing Batgirl a few months ago. The writer/director had previously worked closely with Marvel and helmed two Avengers movies for them, so it was a big deal for him to hop over to DC (though it came with Kevin Feige’s blessing). More recently, it was announced that Whedon would be taking over the reigns on Justice League as well, after Zack Snyder had to pull out due to a family tragedy.
It seems that Whedon has quickly become very cosy with Warner Bros. and DC, then, and when Variety spoke to head honchos Jon Berg and Geoff Johns in a recent interview, the talk quickly turned to Whedon’s increasing role in the DC Extended Universe. Not surprisingly, Berg seems to be very pleased with the director’s work so far and confirmed that...

After first hearing that Joss Whedon will serve as a closer of sorts, replacing Zack Snyder for reshoots and the remainder of post-production, those looking forward to Justice League must brace themselves because another major change in personnel has gone down. Don’t worry, though, because, like the one we just mentioned, it’ll likely instill you with confidence.
As it turns out, Junkie Xl (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) is out as composer and Danny Elfman is in. Yes, this has come out of nowhere, but when you consider that Elfman was responsible for the music heard in Batman and Batman Returns – both of which remain two of the best superhero soundtracks to this day, at least in my opinion – the news should bring a smile to your face, right? But, if you need a little more assurance, know that his resume also includes heavy hitters in the genre such as Spider-Man,...

Danny Elfman is drafted in by Joss Whedon to score the upcoming Justice League film...
Justice League, Warner Bros. and DC Comics’ superhero ensemble effort, has a daunting task ahead if it wishes to match the financial and artistic benchmark achieved by Marvel Studios’ Avengers films. However, the score for the burgeoning super-team film should be more than adequately covered with the acquisition of replacement composer Danny Elfman.
According to THR, a shakeup from Justice League’s relief director Joss Whedon – who recently stepped in Zack Snyder after the completion of principal photography, due to tragic circumstances - will not only see some London-based reshoots, but a changing of musical visionaries. Under the directorial stewardship of Whedon, Justice League will see a major personnel change, with Danny Elfman stepping in for the previously tapped Antionius Tom Holkenborg, an experienced talent in his own right, who operates under the name Junkie Xl.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, famed composer Danny Elfman will provide the score for DC’s upcoming Justice League for the additional scenes being shot. He will replace Antonius Tom Holkenberg who had been working with Zack Snyder. Holkenborg, who is perhaps better known as JunkieXL, and provided the music for last year’s Batman v Superman and Deadpool, is said to be headed over to work on the score for Tomb Raider. Speaking with the outlet, Holkenborg shared some advice he received from Hans Zimmer.
"As my mentor Hans Zimmer told me — you haven't made it in Hollywood as a composer until you get replaced on a project. So I guess finally graduated this week. It pains me to leave the project, but a big thanks to Zack for asking me to part of his vision, and I wish Danny, Joss and Warner Bros all the best with Justice League....

Danny Elfman is one of the biggest and most popular composers in the entertainment industry. His music has such a distinct sound and he has brought his talent to create musical scores for films such as Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Darkman, Batman, Batman Returns, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Men in Black, Spider-Man, Spider-Man II, Hellboy II, Hulk, Avengers: Age of Ultron and more.
Well, he's been hired to work with Joss Whedon on creating the musical score Justice League! As you can see by his resume, he has plenty of experience working on superhero movies and I'm sure he'll end up bringing something unique and special to Justice League.

With Zack Snyder recently stepping down as director of the DC Extended Universe team-up flick, Justice League, fans have started to question just how much of the film will ultimately change in light of this changing of hands to Avengers helmer Joss Whedon. Given the track record of the DC Extended Universe so far (in both fan and critical reception -- excluding the more recent Wonder Woman), fans’ knee-jerk reaction is to expect the worse — that Whedon will lead to great, unexpected change to the important flick.
When a knee-jerk reaction like this takes hold, it’s important that we take a step back and look at all the evidence at hand before moving forward. In this piece, we’ll try and walk through the evidence, the statements, the rumors, and try to come up with an idea of what we can expect.

Note: For simplicity’s sake, whenever the term “reshoots” is used, unless otherwise stated, assume that it’s a catchall term that includes pick-ups, additional photography, and the standard reshooting of scenes.
In weeks past, there have been some rumors regarding the state of the DC Extended Universe — namely, the status of their upcoming team-up film, Justice League. Extensive reshoots and additionally photography have, perhaps wrongly, been correlated with bad movies, and while reshoots have been a standard practice for films in the past decade or so, it still seems to give audiences some concern.
Now, a report from Batman-On-Film seems to back up the rumors of extensive additional photography. According to the outlet, said photography has commenced in London with Joss Whedon at the helm. Their source has stated that these reshoots will be “significant,” though we can likely argue back and forth on what that really means. They...

There have been rumblings lately that Justice League will undergo reshoots this summer and as is so often the case with movies like this one, that’s led to inaccurate reports that it somehow spells doom for the highly anticipated DC Comics adaptation. Well, more details have been revealed this morning, but the story behind them is, unfortunately, a tragic one.
Justice League director Zack Snyder has confirmed that he is stepping away from Justice League for its post-production process to deal with the death of Autumn Snyder. The twenty-year-old committed suicide back in March but that had been kept private until now.
The movie was put on a two-week hiatus and Warner Bros. offered to delay the release date, but Snyder refused and has now handed the reigns over to Joss Whedon. He had written new scenes which were going to shot during reshoots but will direct them now too.

Lrm reported earlier today that Zack Snyder is stepping down as director of Justice League in order to take care of family issues relating to his daughter tragically committing suicide. According to our earlier article, Snyder had watched an early cut of the movie and decided the movie needed some extra scenes. With Joss Whedon on board the new Batgirl movie, he utilized Whedon to write the new scenes and ultimately helm the direction of what he wrote.
For as much criticism Zack Snyder I feel deservedly gets for his missteps in Man of Steel and Batman V. Superman, I applaud the man for taking time off to be with his family in their time of need. As a father myself, I wouldn't want to imagine the pain he must be going through at a time like this. No parent should have to outlive their child. We at Lrm wish Mr.

Due to an unexpected death in his family, Zack Snyder has decided to take a step back from the highly anticipated Warner Bros./DC Comics team-up, Justice League.
The filmmaker's daughter, Autumn Snyder, committed suicide in March at the age of 20. Her sudden death has been kept fairly private to the family's inner circle.

According to a report from THR Zack Snyder is stepping down as director of Justice League during the post-production and reshoot phase of the film. Given all the verbal abuse Snyder gets online these days, it may be easy to think that Snyder stepped down over disagreements with Warner Bros. However, that is not at all the case.
Snyder has stepped down to deal with a family tragedy. Back in March, the filmmaker’s daughter committed suicide, and Snyder has decided to take this time to focus on grieving and healing with his family.

The Hollywood Reporter brings word this evening that Joss Whedon (The Avengers, Batgirl) will shepherd Justice League through post-production now that Zack Snyder has stepped down in light of a family tragedy.
Snyder and his wife/creative partner Deborah Snyder – a producer on the DC ensemble film – are both taking a break from Warner’s shared universe following the sudden death of Zack’s daughter, Autumn Snyder, who took her own life at age 20 only two months ago. Per THR, it’s understood that her death had been kept relatively private up until now, and only close friends and family were aware of the situation.
The family tragedy resulted in a two-week delay for production on Justice League, and in a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Zack Snyder conceded that his knee-jerk reaction was to delve straight back into work in order to grapple with the crippling sense of grief.

Joss Whedon's Serenity movie opens with a stunning opening shot. We take a look at it in more detail...
It's now been more than a decade since we saw the crew of Serenity fly off into the 'verse for the last time. Yet the appeal of the show has not diminished, nor has it seem to have aged. Part of the reason is the love and care poured into each moment by creator Joss Whedon & co, both on the short-lived TV show Firefly, and its big-screen adaptation, Serenity.
Introducing a cast of nine established characters to an (almost) entirely new audience was never going to be an easy task. It would take something special to pull it off successfully, or else risk getting bogged down in a swamp of character introductions (a fate which has befallen any number of ensemble movies in the past).

It’s been all but confirmed that new Captain America: Civil War footage will be unleashed during the big Super Bowl game next weekend. And it’s also possible that a new poster will get released along with the TV spot(s), but right now we have more great promotional art in anticipation of the Marvel threequel. Featuring our umpteenth look at Cap’s team, which has Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, Sharon Carter, and the Falcon, (sans Scarlet Witch) facing off with Iron Man’s team, Black Widow, Black Panther, War Machine and the Vision, the awesome illustration was found by Cbm reader Joss Medina on the Disney Store site. Directed by Anthony & Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity.

The long-awaited first trailer for Captain America: Civil War came out on Wednesday, and its level of awesome is only matched by its level of melancholy. (To quote from Doctor Who, “I like being sad. It's happy for deep people.”) As such, it arguably calls to mind the much-maligned sixth season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
This may seem like an unusual comparison; after all, Joss Whedon's contract with Marvel finished after Avengers: Age of Ultron, and the trailer doesn't share of the key features of Buffy Season 6, such as its generally underrated nature, or its sense of humour. Also, there's no musical episode (unless you count the Marvel DubSmash War, that is).
However, as hinted at by the Ant-Man end credits scene teasing Captain America: Civil War (a similar scene to which starts off the trailer), Captain America: Civil War (or the trailer at least, and presumably the...
