Andrea Lewis is looking back on starring alongside Hilary Duff in the Disney Channel Original Movie Cadet Kelly and the film’s newfound resonance.
In the 2002 film, Duff portrays Kelly Collins, who is forced by her new stepfather to enroll in the George Washington Military School as a means of teaching her discipline. While she struggles to adjust to the new environment and has a rival in her commanding officer (Christy Carlson Romano), Duff’s Kelly befriends Carla (Lewis).
When reflecting on the role in the beloved Disney film, Lewis said she was “very excited” for the project.
“I loved Disney Channel, loved Even Stevens, loved Lizzie McGuire … I was a [The] Famous Jett Jackson fanatic. I loved the content,” she told People magazine. “So when the movie came in — and I guess this is me revealing something about myself — because I was an actor as a kid, I would more so look at the basics.

Charge your glasses. Apple TV+ is taking on Legendary Entertainment’s Drops of God Season 2.
Quoc Dang Tran’s French-Japanese drama adaptation of the smash manga series was a hit for the streamer and Season 2 will again be bought rather than commissioned by Apple in a rare TV acquisitions deal.
Starring Fleur Geffrier (Das Boot) as Camille Léger and Tomohisa Yamashita (The Head) as Issei Tomine, Drops of God follows an estranged child who learns she must master and correctly identify the properties of 13 wines to assume control of her newly deceased father’s collection. In Season 2, Camille and Issei once again face a nearly impossible challenge: to uncover the origin of the world’s most wonderful wine, a secret that even Alexandre Léger failed to unlock.

This post contains spoilers for "Star Trek: Discovery."
In its final season, "Star Trek: Discovery" has reintroduced a species of aliens that "Star Trek" fans haven't seen in live-action in decades. The Breen, a mysterious warrior race that first appeared in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," have made their surprise return in recent weeks thanks to the gooier half of ill-fated courier duo Moll (Eve Harlow) and L'ak (Elias Toufexis).
In their original incarnation, the Breen appeared clad in metal helmets with snout-like protrusions and green laser-like eye bands. They were typically covered up in outfits featuring diagonal metal bands, and though characters on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" often made offhand comments about what the then-unseen aliens might be like, little was explained about their culture in the 20th century "Star Trek" shows. Enter "Discovery," which has a long track record of building upon and deepening existing in-universe lore.

Jenn Tran’s Bachelorette Season Gets Premiere Date
ABC’s announcement naming Jenn Tran as the next Bachelorette took many fans by surprise. She was eliminated in the 7th episode, right before the Hometown Dates. Jenn was named as the next Bachelorette on the After The Final Rose special in March.

She reportedly jetted off to begin filming the very next day. Her season will have many surprises, but perhaps the biggest one is the location. The network isn’t using the traditional mansion that’s been used for years. Furthermore, most of her episodes will take place overseas.

As the 2024 presidential election inches closer, two nonprofit groups favored by pop icons and Hollywood stars are merging to get out the vote.
I Am a Voter has been absorbed by HeadCount. The latter is a field operation that provides voter registration and education at concerts and music festivals, heavily courting young people.
Both organizations identify as nonpartisan, and will now share resources and expertise ahead of November. Collectively, the groups have been utilized or endorsed by Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Alicia Keys, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Aniston and Olivia Rodrigo. Brands have also partnered with each, including the NBA, Major League Baseball, Spotify, Mattel and Liquid Death.

Maria Georgas revealed that she was nearly the next Bachelorette on ABC’s hit dating show.
The Bachelor alum, who came in fourth place on Joey Graziadei’s season earlier this year, opened up on a new episode of Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast about her decision not to become the next leading lady.
“It was mine until I said it wasn’t,” Georgas explained. “It became very overwhelming to the point where I had to decline.”
Georgas said although many people around her were being “so supportive,” she still didn’t feel completely happy about the idea of leading the next season of The Bachelorette.
“Why am I not excited about this?” she asked herself. “It took me realizing that it’s not my time where I was like, ‘Guys, respectfully, I need to decline. I need to take a step back. I was not in the right headspace for this.

Spring Baking Championship narrowed down its three finalists on Monday’s (April 29) episode, but some fans claim the “best contestant” was unfairly eliminated. As reported by The Sun U.S., viewers took to social media to complain after budding baker Alexandre “Alex” Bonnefoi was eliminated by judges Duff Goldman, Kardea Brown, and Nancy Fuller just one week before the Season 10 finale. The final four, which included fellow contestants Nickey Boyd, Robert Gonzalez, and Steven Tran, were tasked with a wedding-inspired challenge. With Gonzalez and Tran already having earned their spots in the final, Bonnefoi and Boyd had to fight it out for the last spot. In the head-to-head showdown, Bonnefoi and Boyd had to “borrow” a dessert from the other two finalists to go along with the “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” wedding rhyme. Bonnefoi was challenged with making Tran’s favorite dessert, tiramisu, while Boyd had to create Gonzalez’s favorite,...

The Vietnamese-born director’s new film is a sumptuous love letter to French food culture starring former real-life couple Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel. He talks about the formal appeal of haute cuisine and the poetry of an omelette
The current menu for film and TV stories about cuisine is all conflict and crisis – kitchens as battlefields, dishes forged in the white-hot skillet of raging tempers. Auckland, July 22 (Ians) Reigning champions the United States got their title defense underway at Eden Park as they dominated Vietnam 3-0 in a Group E match of the FIFA Women’s World Cup here on Saturday, with Sophia Smith scoring two and setting up another.
Having won the last two editions of the tournament and four titles overall, the US are considered as the most successful team in the campaign, while Vietnam have made history by qualifying for a men’s or women’s World Cup final stage for the first time, reports Xinhua.
Megan Rapinoe was benched with Alex Morgan starting up in front for the US, while Vietnam fielded a 5-4-1 formation.
As expected, Vietnam were majorly outclassed and could hardly string together a run of play, while the US put together a series of chances and went ahead in the 14th minute when Morgan’s smart back-heeled pass found Smith,...

John Boyega Dubs ‘The Last Jedi’ His Worst ‘Star Wars’ Movie: ‘In the Most Respectful Sense’ (Video)
John Boyega’s least favorite “Star Wars” film that he was in? Rian Johnson’s “The Last Jedi” from 2017, he told “Hot Ones” in a video released Wednesday.
“Rank the three ‘Star Wars’ films you were in from best to worst,” Boyega reads from the cue card before responding: “Hell yeah, I’ll do it!”
“‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ is most definitely the best,” said the actor, who played Stormtrooper-turned-rebel Finn in the cinematic trilogy that kicked off in 2015.
“Second, for me, comes Episode 9 [‘The Rise of Skywalker’]. The worst, in the most respectful sense, is Episode 8 [‘The Last Jedi’]. “But they’re all lovely,” he added after giving a significant side-eye glance.
What is @johnboyega’s Least favorite Star Wars movie? In this episode of #TruthOrDabRapidFire, @johnboyega has two simple choices: tell the truth… or suffer the wrath of The Last Dab

Divinity is set in an otherworldly human existence where scientist Sterling Pierce (Scott Bakula) is on a quest for immortality, slowly creating the building blocks of a groundbreaking serum named “Divinity.” Jaxxon Pierce (Stephen Dorff), his son, now controls and manufactures his father’s once-benevolent dream.

Sometimes, the quickest shortcut to high drama is immense stakes on simple terms. That’s certainly true for “Drops of God,” the Apple TV+ series that closes out its season this week. The latest of the platform’s multilingual creative successes (including “Pachinko” and “Acapulco”), this eight-part series dives into an unusual gambit to split up the massive inheritance of global wine expert Alexandre Léger (Stanley Weber). In order to prove their worthiness as the heir to the world’s largest private wine collection and to shepherd his publishing empire, two contenders are put through a series of tasks. His daughter Camille (Fleur Geffrier) and his longtime pupil Issei Tomine (Tomohisa Yamashita) face off in a series of challenges that test both their palates and their ingenuity.

This article contains Major spoilers for all seven seasons of New Girl
Let’s clear something up straight away: there are no bad episodes of New Girl.
In fact, this list could easily have started with the pilot and moved right on through to the incredibly moving season seven finale.
New Girl is one of those rare sitcoms you fall in love with from its first moments. The combination of unapologetically quirky, original writing, and the comic chemistry of the main cast – Max Greenfield as Schmidt, Jake Johnson as Nick, Hannah Simone as Cece, Lamorne Morris as Winston, Dayman Wayans Jr as Coach, and of course Zooey Deschanel as Jess – makes it a lovable and rewatchable hit.
Here are what we believe – after much soul searching – are New Girl’s 20 best episodes (plus a few honorable mentions):
20. What About Fred?
Season 5 Episode 2

It's official — Daisy Ridley will return as Rey in a new "Star Wars" film. Set 15 years after the conclusion of the sequel trilogy, the film will feature the nobody scavenger turned Jedi Knight training a new generation of Jedi — fingers crossed this attempt goes better than Luke Skywalker's (Mark Hamill). The currently-untitled film was announced at the 2023 Star Wars Celebration; Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is set to direct a script by Steven Knight.
I like Daisy Ridley as an actor. Now, admittedly, the only lead performance of hers I've seen is Rey. In that part, though, she exudes charisma and is plenty capable with meatier material too; she always gave the character emotional depth even when that wasn't on the page.
Still, it's hard for me to be excited about this because of where we last left off Rey's journey: 2019's "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," the finale of the...

When actor Ken Jeong was an aspiring medical student at Duke University, he developed a passion for acting. Even though The Masked Singer panelist received his medical degree from UCLA in 1995 and is still a licensed physician in California, he chose to hang up his white lab coat and pursue a career in acting, which has paid off handsomely. While Jeong is no longer a practicing physician, he is married to a doctor. In 2002, Ken Jeong met his future wife, Tran Ho, when they hit it off at a singles mixer for doctors.

After earning his medical degree, Jeong started working at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in West California. But he never lost his desire to become an accomplished actor. He eventually landed bit roles on television shows such as Two and a Half Men, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, and more.

The year 2015 was a time of great hope in the "Star Wars" fandom. The long-awaited sequel trilogy was upon us, with Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford reprising their beloved characters in a galaxy far, far away. Just as exciting (if not more so) were the young heroes slated to make their debut in the film, and in doing so, usher in a more inclusive age of "Star Wars" storytelling. As played by Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), and Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), these new additions proved to be instantly lovable and buoyed by amazing screen chemistry -- so much so it had us shipping them after but a handful of scenes together.
That was before the dark times. Before the divisive fan response to "The Last Jedi" and the subsequent box office failure of "Solo" left Lucasfilm scrambling, culminating in "The Rise of Skywalker," a film that...

Today, a year and a half after her first solo single debuted, rising R&b star Chloë Bailey’s studio album, In Pieces, has been released. In our review, Rolling Stone contributor Mosi Reeves gives Bailey credit for “trying to turn her growing pains into prickly, sometimes enjoyable art” — but also wonders why she chose to share that art with the “scandal-scarred” Chris Brown. In fact, many questioned or outright condemned Bailey’s move to make music with an “abuser.” When Bailey announced his feature on her second single, “How Does It Feel,...

Tran Thanh is a popular Vietnamese TV-show host, actor and, since recently, filmmaker who has found a formula that works, at least from a financial point of view, with the success of his debut “Bo Gia”. The recipe was simple: a family-themed comedy-drama with slight romantic overtones was released in the less-busy winter period and earned over 17 million dollars, mostly domestically and in the nearby territories. With his newest film, and his first solo directorial effort, “The House with No Man”, he upgraded the formula by amplifying the romantic angle and timing the release in the time of the Tet holiday (the fact that it is also close to the Valentine’s Day also helps), and it resulted in the income of 18 million dollars so far, before even opening outside Vietnam.

Aside from taking inspiration from its predecessor, “How I Met Your Father” creators Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger drew from their own experience navigating adulthood in a messy yet endearing way for the show’s sophomore season — including being locked in the stairwell of a New York skyscraper on the first day of a new job.
“This whole series is very much based on that chapter of our lives where we were living in New York and hanging out with your friends all the time, and your friends are your second family,” Berger told TheWrap of the duo’s time in the East Village while attending New York University. “We are just constantly looking back at that time and channeling those feelings: when you’re still trying to meet your person and it feels like the end of the world if you haven’t met them yet, and you’re...

The suspect charged with hate crimes after he allegedly shot two different Jewish men earlier this week had a history of sending violent, antisemitic messages, according to court records filed on Friday.
On Friday, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California announced two federal hate crimes charges against Jaime Tran, 28, for his alleged involvement in the shootings. The victims Tran targeted were Jewish men leaving religious services, authorities claimed. Both incidents took place in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood, an area with a large Jewish population where...

This article contains Fast and Furious franchise spoilers
Coinciding with its “bigger and louder” trend, The Fast and the Furious franchise significantly upped its villain game as the series progressed. Bad guys in the early entries are forgettably bland, but the latter films feature some incredible villains.
In this ranking, we’ve excluded characters who were antagonists but not true villains, heroes briefly coerced into turning heel, and garden variety henchmen. The caveat to this is the Shaw brothers, who were the villains of the sixth and seventh films but eventually allied with the heroes (we can only assume they were redeemed by the sheer power of Family). But since they were villains, they remain on the list.
14. Johnny Tran
The first The Fast and the Furious villain is also the worst one. Johnny Tran (Rick Yune) is an amalgamation of every high school bully ever put to film. He’s forgettable,...

Exclusive: Apple TV+ has picked up Drops of God, a series set in the world of fine wine based on a Japanese manga property, from Legendary Entertainment.
Deadline understands that the streamer beat out a number of suitors to land the international series, which is in multiple languages including English, French and Japanese.
However, the most interesting element of the deal is that it marks one of the first times that Apple has dipped its toe into international co-productions and licensing; the majority of its scripted series to date have been fully owned originals. We hear that the first season of Tehran and Losing Alice were picked up in a similar manner.
Drops of God is written by Quoc Dang Tran, who wrote on French series Call My Agent and created Disney+’s Parallèles, the streamer’s first French language series, and directed by Oded Ruskin, who has directed episodes...

The hunt for a gunman who killed 10 people at a ballroom dance club during Lunar New Year celebrations ended Sunday when authorities found him dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the van he used to flee after people thwarted his attempt at a second shooting.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna identified the man as 72-year-old Huu Can Tran and said no other suspects were at large. Speaking at an evening news conference, he added that the motive remained unclear for the attack, which wounded 10 more.
Luna did not have the exact ages of the victims but said they all appeared to be over 50. Seven of the wounded people remained in the hospital, he said.
The sheriff added that the suspect was carrying what he described as a semi-automatic pistol with an extended magazine, and a second handgun was discovered in the van where Tran was found dead.

The five characters in Linh Tran’s Waiting for the Light to Change come together in awkward fashion, some reuniting and others meeting for the first time at a lake house in Michigan at the tail end of winter. What’s supposed to be a fun getaway starts on the wrong foot: they can’t find the house key upon arriving, the water’s too cold to swim or boat in, and there’s nothing to do in the small town; accordingly most of their time is spent indoors or wandering around the cold, windy shore nearby. That isolation makes for a rich starting point to Tran’s strong, confident debut feature, in which she uses her ensemble to explore the anxiety, despair, and sadness that can hang over one’s 20s while building a life and career.
Details about each character come to light soon after they settle in.

Snow Falls opens with a warning sign, a pair of ravens sitting on the sign welcoming the characters to the town of Snow Falls. A bigger warning sign for the viewer however should be the squabbling going on inside their vehicle. Complaints about someone studying, somebody sitting with their feet on the dash, or someone else not wearing a seat belt. The kind of pointless bitching that makes you wonder why these people hang out together.
But the five of them, Kit, Em, Eden, Andy and River are on their way to spend New Year’s Eve at a massive “cabin” owned by River’s family. “This is your second home?” “Third if you count the one we’re building on Martha’s Vinyard”.

Although diversity on TV, both on and off camera, continues to improve each year, significant roadblocks for female and minority creators continue to exist in the industry — chief among them budgets.
According to a new study from UCLA’s Entertainment and Media Research Initiative, nearly half of all TV shows created by white men across broadcast, cable and television received a budget of 3 million or more per episode. On broadcast, 41.5 of shows created by white men had episodic budgets higher than 3 million, while that figure increases to 48 and 61.3 when looking at cable and streaming. In contrast, show creators of color had show budgets above 3 million per episode 28.5 (broadcast), 29.2 (cable), and 33.3 (streaming) of the time. Meanwhile, only 13 of broadcast shows and 13.3 of cable shows from white woman creators had episodic budgets over 3 million — streaming was significantly better, at 48.7, but still lagging far beyond their male counterparts.

Karrueche Tran was photographed over the weekend while arriving at James Harden’s 33rd birthday party.
The actress, model, and businesswoman can be seen wearing a stunning plunging black blouse with a pair of black leather short shorts. The shorts peaked from underneath the asymmetrical hem of the tailored top.
Tran wowed with the deep plunge of her top, which gave a display of cleavage and tied at the navel. Karrueche added an edgy yet chic look to the ensemble with a pair of black leather shorts which appeared to shimmer in the lighting. The shorts’ hem landed at Tran’s upper thigh and nicely complemented her tanned legs.
On her feet Tran dawned a crisp white pedicure which peaked through shimmery fishnet socks and a pair of slide-in heels.

“My life when I was on SSRIs and doing talk therapy: Struggling to sleep, not eating, and still feeling no relief,” the TikTok’s caption reads. A man with close-cropped facial hair and a warm, approachable face lies in bed. “Sunroof” by Nicky Youre and Dazy plays in the background. As if to emphasize the point, he tosses and turns, grimacing.
As the instrumental kicks in, the scene abruptly shifts to a busy Penn Station intersection, hues brightening like Dorothy entering Oz, the man’s face spread into a grin.
