Christopher Nolan’s screenplay for “Oppenheimer” is dense, 180 pages, and a terrific read. Adapted from Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherman’s Pulitzer Prize-winning “American Prometheus,” the filmmaker found a conflicted hero in brilliant theoretical physicist Robert Oppenheimer, a Salieri antagonist in political operative Admiral Lewis Strauss, and a courtroom drama for each of them.
Nolan and I spoke over the phone about the writing of “Oppenheimer,” which is nominated for Adapted Screenplay. It’s one of the film’s 13 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Director, Best Actor for Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer, Best Supporting Actress for Emily Blunt as his wife Kitty, and Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey, Jr. as Strauss.

Taylor Swift Copied Kuldeep Yadav’s Bowling Action On ‘Eras Tour’ & We Have Proof! ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
If Taylor Swift were a cricketer, she would have been a lethal left-arm spinner. Many of us thought Miss Swift would be practicing those kicks with NFL star and boyfriend Travis Kelce, but it turned out she had been gripped by cricket fever all along. Hehe, not really!
Well, Tay may or may not be a cricket fan, but the internet has us all believing the songstress would be giving Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav a neck-to-neck competition if she were to take cricket as a career option. If you are wondering what exactly we are talking about, we suggest you scroll ahead.
It all began after a candid picture of Taylor Swift from her Eras Tour went viral. In the widely circulated picture, the ‘Willow’ singer’s hand gesture looked more like a left-arm spin bowling motion,...

Anyone who's watched a Christopher Nolan movie knows that the blockbuster director has his eyes set on one thing above all else: verisimilitude. Even as someone whose movies have dabbled in superheroes, mind heists, and actual magic, Nolan always seems to circle back to grounding his stories in reality ... because, in many ways, fact really can be just as dramatic and inexplicable as fiction. In that sense, it might have been inevitable that he'd end up making an epic-sized biopic about J. Robert Oppenheimer, the so-called "father of the atomic bomb." True to form, "Oppenheimer" digs deep into its source material to uncover every step taken on the path towards one of history's most unspeakable atrocities.
Nolan's obsessive quest to research all aspects of Oppenheimer's life and especially the political rivalry between he and Lewis Strauss, however, didn't just stop there.

Cillian Murphy, the star of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming biopic Oppenheimer, has shared some details about the filming process and how he prepared for the role of the American physicist who led the development of the atomic bomb.
In an interview on Marc Maron’s Wtf podcast, Murphy revealed that the film was shot in a record time of 57 days, despite being a huge production with massive sets and a large ensemble cast. He said that Nolan’s approach was very fast and efficient, with minimal crew and equipment.
“The pace of that was insane. The sets are huge, but it feels like being on an independent movie. There’s just Chris and the cameraman. One camera always, unless there’s some huge, huge set piece, and the boom op and that’s it. There’s no video village, there’s no monitors, nothing. He’s a very analog filmmaker.

David Hill Better be okay!
With The Company You Keep Season 1 winding down, you knew there would be crazy action and some gasp-worthy moments, but I did not see the end of The Company You Keep Season 1 Episode 9 coming.
I reiterate -- David Hill needs to be okay!
Oh, and Jennifer, too. Neither one deserved to get in the crosshairs of Emma's war with the Maguires, which reached all-new heights in the penultimate installment.
Emma's been singularly focused on the Maguires all season, and with Charlie as her asset on the inside, she's continued to build her case, though even with all the evidence she's gathered, it hasn't been enough to bring forth a formal case.
Side note, can I say I never understand that on a series like this, you will have someone undercover seeing death, drug deals, and all kinds of terrible things, yet there's never enough evidence.

After being slighted by her half-brother Connor Maguire in The Company You Keep Season 1 Episode 4, Daphne Finch is out for revenge. And perhaps she has set her sights on Paul Blackthorne’s character, John Baylor, in The Company You Keep Season 1 Episode 5 as a result.
The synopsis for “The Spy Who Loved Me” reads, “Daphne enlists the Nicolettis to steal a book of blackmail from a DC fixer. Later, Charlie puts his relationship with Emma on the line to ensure her safety.

ABC‘s The Company You Keep is Milo Ventimiglia’s next venture in the world of broadcast television. And his role as Charlie Nicoletti, a con man, is a lot different from This Is Us‘s Jack Pearson. But the difference in characters isn’t the only discrepancy between the two shows — not only does Milo Ventimiglia star in The Company You Keep, but he’s also an executive producer.

The Nicoletti family has gotten themselves into a lot of trouble in ABC‘s The Company You Keep. During the series premiere, they conned an Irish mobster, Patrick Maguire, and scored $10 million. However, the woman behind the curtain, Daphne Finch, is now out for blood. And with Charlie’s ex-fiancée Tina on the run with the cash, the Nicolettis had to find a way to come up with the $10 million (plus interest) in The Company You Keep Episode 2, “A Sparkling Reputation.”

Chicago – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com audio film review on the new film “Drunk Bus,” an indie about an aimless bus driver in a college town, and his unlikely friendship with a man named Pineapple, currently in select theaters and through Video On Demand.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
Charlie Tahan is Michael, an aimless bus driver in a college town, assigned to the route with the most bars, thus the “drunk bus.” He has dropped out of that college, lost his girlfriend and is constantly being harassed by his wasted riders. When a fight occurs on the bus, his boss assigns a bodyguard named Pineapple, portrayed by Pineapple Tangaroa. The pair become unlikely friends, teaching each other the life lessons they need to break free.

"What you need is a do-over - grab those '40s and let's dip!" FilmRise Releasing has debuted an official trailer for an indie comedy titled Drunk Bus, starring Charlie Tahan. This originally premiered at the San Diego Film Festival last year, and just stopped by the Cinequest Film Festival this month. A directionless, young campus bus driver and a punk rock, Samoan security guard named Pineapple form an unlikely kinship as they navigate the unpredictable late shift shit show known as the "drunk bus." Together, they break out of their endless loop of small town life and into a world of uncertainty, excitement and incredibly poor decision-making. This co-stars Tahan and Pineapple Tangaroa, Kara Hayward, Zach Cherry, Sarah Mezzanotte, Dave Hill, Tonatiuh Elizarraraz, and Will Forte. Inspired by one of the director's real experiences as a campus bus driver, and the actual security guard that worked with him, who...

Set in a time before Uber, smartphones, and mass social networking, Brandon Laganke and John Carlucci’s Drunk Bus is a nostalgic look at college life in small-town Kent, Ohio. Set largely on a bus that makes the rounds between the Greek houses, dorms, and bars, Drunk Bus is far from an original film but it’s the kind of cinematic comfort food that you might invite a few friends over to watch in your cramped dorm room. Shortly after HBO released Game of Thrones: The Complete Eighth Season, the Golden Globe nominations were unveiled and its considered a surprise that the series was virtually shut out. After the long wait, the truncated final season arrived this year and rather than take a victory lap, it was showered with complaints.
When the series, adapting George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire novels, arrived, people were stunned at its scope, sweep, violence, sensuality, and strong performances. You weren’t sure who to root for as the status quo kept shifting and beloved characters kept dying in unexpected, messy ways.
Phrases and names seeped into public consciousness just as the series began exhausting the extant prose and then charged ahead while Martin struggled to finish the current novel, in the cycle. Series Executive Producers/Writers/Directors David Benioff & D.B. Weiss got direction from Martin and then increasingly veered off in their own direction.

For all the “Game of Thrones” fans who were up in arms, pointing at maps of Westeros and screaming about how long it would actually take Dany to get from Dragonstone to north of The Wall via dragon during Season 7, we have some good news for you: Season 8 is going to follow a more logical timeline, according to the writers.
Yes, apparently the pacing of the HBO series’ upcoming eighth and final season is more in line with your expectations for inter-kingdom travel and whatnot. However, they still have their reasons for speeding things up a bit last season.
“You obviously don’t want any criticism of any kind,” writer Dave Hill — who penned the upcoming Season 8 premiere, which airs April 14 — told Entertainment Weekly in an interview published Tuesday. “But with all the things we were balancing to set things up for Season 8, sometimes we had to speed things up within episodes.

While “Game of Thrones” Season 7 featured some of the most iconic moments in the show’s history, including the destruction of The Wall and the turning of Daenerys’ dragon Viserion into a white walker, one criticism the show couldn’t escape was the season’s incredibly fast pacing that appeared to break the logic of time and space. Many fans noticed characters were traveling between locations at speeds not possible given the distance, which made it confusing as to whether or not all the different storylines were taking place at the time time or at various points in time (read Mashable’s essay on how the pacing messed with viewers’ heads).
Ahead of the final season debuting on HBO next month, some “Thrones” writers are defending the choice to speed up the storytelling. As writer-producer Bryan Cogman told Entertainment Weekly, “We made a choice to ‘just get on with it’ last season.

Game of Thrones will conclude its historic HBO run with its eighth and final season, a six-episode saga that begins April 14. Today, HBO released a cache of new images from the finale season that show the fantasy series has not relented in its production values — the show’s flair for dramatic screen tapestries have transported even fantasy-resistant fans to a fully realized world where swords, magic, dragons and royal intrigue rule the fate of nations.
Those fans have been waiting forever for any new word from Westeros — or at least it feels like forever. The Season 7 finale aired way back in August 27, 2017 — that’s 528 days in series exile if you’re counting. There’s plenty of unresolved business in the Seven Kingdoms which have been plunged into a winter of un-living discontent. Among the pressing questions: How will the alliance — both political and emotional — between Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow fare?...

The BBC is giving its Porridge sequel series the boot...
Sad news for fans of the Beeb's recently-revived Porridge, we're afraid - the series won't be back for more banged-up-(not)-abroad hijinx, as it's been nixed after just one series.
The show featured Kevin Bishop as Nigel, the cyber crime-committing grandson of Ronnie Barker's character Norman Fletcher, alongside Mark Bonnar, Dominic Coleman, Dave Hill, Harman Singh, Jason Barnett and Ricky Grover.
The BBC first floated the project as a pilot in its Landmark Comedy Season a couple of years ago. The new version of the classic sitcom was well received, and so 6 episodes were ordered and plonked in a Friday night slot. It performed fine there for a spell, but it seems that either the ratings, or general interest in keeping Ian La Frenais and Dick Clement's new Porridge alive, must have started deteriorating rather quickly.

Winners of the 2018 Writers Guild of America Awards were revealed on Feb. 11 in ceremonies held simultaneously in Los Angeles and New York. As only screenplays written under the guild’s guidelines or those of several international partners are eligible for consideration, these kudos, which are celebrating their 70th anniversary, have not been the most reliable barometer of the Oscars.
Indeed, one of this year’s leading contenders for Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars — Martin McDonagh for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” — was ruled out of the running by the guild. However, that WGA race does include four of the other Academy Awards nominees — “The Big Sick,” “Get Out,” “Lady Bird” and “The Shape of Water.” It is rounded out by “I, Tonya.” Jordan Peele won for “Get Out” edging out Greta Gerwig, who had been predicted to win for “Lady Bird.”

The 2018 Writers Guild of America Awards take place on Feb. 11 with simultaneous ceremonies held in both New York and Los Angeles. Only scripts written under the guild’s guidelines or those of several international partners are allowed to vie for these awards. As such, these kudos are not the most reliable barometer of the Oscars.
In the past nine years only 59 of the WGA nominees have numbered among the 90 screenplays that reaped Academy Awards bids. Indeed, 2014’s Oscar winner for Best Original Screenplay, “Birdman,” was deemed ineligible. Final season will be six episodes according to HBO.

The eighth and final season of Game Of Thrones will not return until 2019, HBO has confirmed.
In a statement the cable service said the series will be a six-episode run.
They also announced that David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik will be on directing duties, with the writing team consisting of Benioff, Weiss, Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill.
The finale of season 7, The Dragon And The Wolf, aired on August 27, 2017.
Back in May, HBO announced plan to develop four potential offshoots of Game Of Thrones with the main series coming to an end.
They did not specify if the projects would be spin-offs, prequels or sequels, noting only that each project will explore different time periods of Martin’s “vast and rich universe”.
Writers attached at the time were author George R.R. Martin, Max Borenstein, Jane Goldman, Brian Helgeland and [link=nm...

Batten down the hatches, folks, for the long night is here.
True to those early rumors, Game of Thrones‘ eighth and final season won’t arrive until 2019, at which point David Benioff and D.B. Weiss – along with directors David Nutter (“Mother’s Mercy”) and Miguel Sapochnik (“Hardhome,” Battle of the Bastards”) – will see in the six-episode finale.
News of a 2019 release window isn’t all that surprising when you consider that season 8 will ostensibly be built around feature-length episodes. Last year, the seventh season ranged from 59 to 80 minutes, ending with the frankly unmissable finale, “The Dragon and the Wolf.” This, coupled with the prolonged production cycle, all but confirms that HBO has no intention of rushing new episodes of Game of Thrones out the gate. And we can’t say we’re complaining.

We've been hearing for months that Game of Thrones Season 8 probably wouldn't premiere until 2019. Just in case you were holding out for a chance that it might premiere this year, you can throw those hopes away.
HBO issued a short announcement confirming that the final six episodes of Game of Thrones won't start airing until 2019. As of right now, there's no specific release date. Where just going to have to accept this, hunker down, be patient, and wait.
It's ok, though! Series creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss previously explained they planned to spend a year and a half crafting the final episodes of the series because they to make sure the finale delivers a spectacular and satisfying ending for the fans. If they deliver that, it will be well worth the wait.
The directors who will be working on Season 8 include showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik.

It's official!
HBO announced via press release on Thursday that the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will air in 2019. The network's confirmation comes months after HBO Head of Programming, Casey Bloys, hinted that the final episodes would be airing next year.

According to Thursday's press release, David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik will serve as season eight directors, while writers include Benioff, Weiss, Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill.

With the news this week that the eighth and final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones won’t air until 2019 comes just as Games of Thrones: The Complete Seventh Season arrives on disc tomorrow. The digital editions have been out for some time and if any season bears repeat watching it is this one.
One advantage to the bloodshed and character demises over the last few seasons has meant that the survivors all get larger roles, meatier scenes, and characters we’ve longed to see together actually share the screen. The episodes are longer, but there are fewer of them to enjoy. Perhaps the biggest downside to this is that events have had to be telescoped, stretching and then breaking the show’s internal logic.
No matter how the producers spin it, there was really no way for episode six to work once the White Walkers surrounded our hardy band of warriors.

Out today is the Blu-ray edition of Game of Thrones: The Complete Sixth Season from HBO Home Entertainment.
We previously reviewed the Digital HD version of the season here but there are new elements to consider with the box set.
The vast majority of Digital HD releases do not come with the bonus features, extra, and Easter Eggs we have come to know and love about the disc format. As a result, the Digital HD version is a nice add-on for on-the-go viewing, but the complete immersive experience, the special features add interviews, behind-the-scenes information, commentary, and deleted scenes to enhance your appreciation of the material. This season set, though, does come with some, but all, the extras found on the Blu-ray box set.

J.J. Abrams, Sacha Baron Cohen, Henry Cavill and a performance from the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl also announced.
Morgan Freeman and John Legend have been added to the list of presenters at the 88th Academy Awards along with J.J. Abrams, Sacha Baron Cohen and Henry Cavill.
The additions continue to add diversity to the upcoming ceremony, which has been marred by the #OscarsSoWhite campaign following a list of nominations in which only white actors and actresses were among the chosen few in the top four categories - for the second consecutive year.
The invitation to Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen could lead to controversy on the night. When presenting the Best Actress award at the BAFTAs last Sunday, the comedian said: “The main reason I agreed to present at this awards ceremony is that BAFTA has shown none of the discrimination and prejudice, which is so shamefully on display at the Oscars.

Inside Out scribe Pete Docter revealed something strange in an Oscar nominee roundtable with New York magazine: a new way for winners to express thanks for people and organizations they can't fit in their speech. Is this a step up or a treacherous step back for the Academy Awards? While speaking with Straight Outta Compton co-writer Andrea Berloff and Carol screenwriter Phyllis Nagy, Docter brought up the new option for Oscar winners. Docter: This year, apparently, they’re doing a thing where you can ahead of time give a list of names so you don’t have to read them. They’ll scroll along the bottom. Berloff: Is that true? Nagy: Yes, it is true. It was in my package from the Academy. It’s 80 words. If you email them a list by some point in February — my mother, my sister, my agent — they will scroll it across the screen as you speak.
