At last year’s MTV Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift announced her Midnights album. And this year, the album helped her dominate the night with multiple wins, including her fourth for video of the year.
Swift is the only artist to win the top prize four times — this year it was for her No. 1 hit “Anti-Hero.” During the win that closed out the four-hour show Tuesday night, she shared the stage with those who worked on the music video: director of photography Rina Yang and editor Chancler Haynes.
Swift opened and closed the show with honors: She fangirled, like most of the audience, when she accepted the first award of the night from ‘N Sync, who earned a standing ovation from the crowd at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
“I am not doing well pivoting from this to this. I had your dolls. Are you doing something? What’s going to happen now?...

Big Freedia, the New Orleans bounce icon, is back with a new song, “Bigfoot,” which will appear on her first proper album in nine years, Central City, out June 23 via Queen Diva Music.
“Bigfoot” makes for a booming announcement as Freedia stomps all over the competition and delirious, speaker-rattling beat. “Call me Bigfoot stepping on these bitches necks,” Freedia declares on the hook, “I got a big foot but I’m getting bigger checks/They don’t see what’s coming next/You already know the rest/I got a...

Diddy may be well-known as an accomplished music executive, a gifted producer, and a billionaire mogul. However, the "Gotta Move On" artist seemingly made a bad business decision back in the '90s after he sampled a song from Sting without his permission.
In his 1997 hit "I'll Be Missing You" with Faith Evans - a tribute to the late The Notorious B.I.G. - Diddy famously sampled a track titled "Every Breath You Take," which was written by Sting and released by his band, The Police, in 1983. For years, it's been believed that Diddy is still paying for the unauthorized sample, especially after a 2018 interview with Sting on The Breakfast Club recently resurfaced.
In the unearthed clip, Sting revealed how much Diddy was allegedly paying him at the time after cohost Charlamagne tha God asked the now-71-year-old musician if it's true that he gets sent...

More than 25 years later, Diddy is still paying a steep price for using an uncleared sample of The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” on his Notorious B.I.G. tribute “I’ll Be Missing You.” The hip-hop mogul has revealed he now pays former Police lead singer Sting $5,000 per day in royalties.
Diddy tweeted the number as a correction to a resurfaced 2018 interview with The Breakfast Club in which Sting confirmed he received $2,000 a day from the rapper. “Nope. 5K a day,” Diddy wrote. “Love to my brother @OfficialSting!”
At the time of the interview, Sting told The Breakfast Club that “we’re very good friends now” and added, “It was a beautiful version of that song.”
It didn’t always seem like Sting felt that way. At the 1997 MTV VMAs, he insisted on singing the original chorus instead of Faith Evans’ interpolation paying tribute to Biggie while accompanying...

Sean “Diddy” Combs first entered the music world in the late 1980s as an intern for Uptown Records, eventually launching his own label, Bad Boy Records, in 1993. In the late ’90s, after the death of his friend The Notorious B.I.G., Diddy became a rapper himself, quickly earning a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. And although Diddy’s catalog of hits dates back over two decades, the music mogul has no plans to sell his music for a big payday.

In the early days of his rap career, The Notorious B.I.G. had an image to maintain as a smooth-talking ladies’ man from Brooklyn, bolstered by songs such as the hit single “Big Poppa.” To support his 1994 debut album Ready to Die, Biggie released the track “One More Chance” as a single and filmed an accompanying music video. The song and the video were instrumental in solidifying his spot as the hottest new rapper in the game.

Stand-up comedian and viral video star Teddy Ray has died. The news was confirmed this weekend by Comedy Central and Deadline, with the latter reporting that memorial details or cause of death have been announced. The performer was 32 years old.
A hilarious and good-natured improviser and a talented stand-up comic, Ray appeared on series like HBO Max's "Pause With Sam Jay," Biniam Bizuneh's comedy show "How To Be Broke," and the web series "Bsu," made by Issa Rae's Hoorae Media. The comedian was also featured on Comedy Central, in a set where he professed his preference for "chill outs" on stage as opposed to "act outs," and talked about singing Keysha Cole songs around gangsters as a child.

The Good Doctor saved the best for last on Monday. Former series regular Antonia Thomas made her highly anticipated return as Dr. Claire Browne at the tail end of Season 5’s third-to-last episode, where she surprised Shaun and Lea at their joint bachelor/ette party.
As friends embraced the soon-to-be-marrieds — the wedding, we’re told, is in a matter of days — Claire appeared on stage and belted out a reworked version of the Faith Evans/Puff Daddy classic “I’ll Be Missing You” to reflect the time she’s spent away from her St. Bonaventure family. And no one was more excited than Dr.

“The Masked Singer” finale concluded on Wednesday night with Queen of Hearts winning the Golden Mask and defeating Bull in one of the closest votes in the history of the Fox reality TV competition. Bull gave an inspiring performance of “You Gotta Be” by Des’ree and a stunning, stripped-down rendition of “Invisible” by Hunter Hayes, but it wasn’t enough to dethrone the Queen of Hearts. The hooved singer was then forced to unmask in front of America and reveal himself as singer-songwriter and choreographer, Todrick Hall.
