Sean "Diddy" Combs has cemented himself as one of the most successful entrepreneurs and cultural icons of all-time. Following the tragic and untimely death of The Notorious B.I.G. in 1996, Combs continued the legacy of his late friend by stepping into the forefront as a solo artist, releasing his first full-length album No Way Out in 1997. Diddy's music career has garnered many awards including multiple Grammy Awards and countless number 1 hits. He has produced hundreds of songs as well as performed with the biggest names in music. Combs kicked off 2022 by announcing his official return to music with the launch of his new all-R&B label Love Records. Combs will release his highly anticipated album on Love Records in 2023.
Combs has appeared in dozens of films and is recognized for his role as both a television and film producer. Highlights include his 2001 acting debut in a heartfelt performance as Halle Berry's husband 'Lawrence Musgrave' in the critically acclaimed film, Monster's Ball. In 2007, he played the leading role in A Raisin in the Sun on Broadway and reprised the role in a television adaptation for ABC, which he also executive produced for ABC. The movie was nominated for three Emmy Awards, and Combs won an NAACP Awards for Best Actor for his role in the film. Combs stole the show as 'Sergio' alongside Jonah Hill and Russell Brand in Get Him to the Greek in 2010. Combs was an executive producer on acclaimed documentary, Undefeated, which won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2012, DOPE and he was also an Executive Producer on Two Distant Strangers, which won an Oscar in 2021.
Beyond music and entertainment, Combs has built a successful portfolio of businesses under Combs Global. Combs launched Sean John in 1998 and in 2021, Combs bought Sean John out of bankruptcy from partner Global Brands Group with plans to reinvigorate the brand. In 2007, Combs partnered with Diageo on a revolutionary strategic alliance for Ciroc Vodka. They expanded that partnership in 2013 on the acquisition of luxury tequila brand DeLeón Tequila. Combs launched Revolt Media & TV, the first Black-owned multi-platform cable music network in 2013. The network now reaches over 80 million homes and 20 million viewers digitally, with carriers like Time Warner, Xfinity, and Verizon Fios. Revolt attracts more than 50 million young adults through television, digital properties, social and mobile. Additionally, Combs has fitness water brand Aquahydrate, with Mark Walberg. In 2021, Combs announced Empower Global, a global online Black marketplace with Salesforce to be launched in 2023. In 2022, Combs created the largest black-owned, vertically integrated, multi-state operated cannabis company in the world in one of the largest deals in cannabis history worth $185 million.
Combs has always applied the same drive and entrepreneurial spirit that has defined his entertainment and business success to his philanthropic work and political activism. In 2016, Combs fulfilled a lifelong dream of providing youth from New York inner-cities access to high quality education by partnering with Dr. Steve Perry to open the Harlem Capital Prep School and Capital Prep Bronx which opened in 2020. He has given millions of dollars to support charitable and social causes focused on the underserved and black communities across the nation. Combs launched several initiatives to help the underserved - in 2020, Our Fair Share, a financial readiness platform that helps diverse business owners and entrepreneurs access capital, and the Excellence Program in 2021, an internship program with Endeavor for aspiring students in the entertainment industry.
