Sometimes, a new vicar arrives in a village and it's all sweet weirdoes and running jokes, like in The Vicar Of Dibley. But when Samantha Morton_ vibes. And we have an exclusive look at the trailer…
Adapted from Cj Tudor's novel, the show sees Morton’s Reverend Jack Brooks and her daughter Flo arriving in the village seeking a fresh start.
They soon find it's rife with conspiracies and secrets, and that uncovering the truth can be deadly in a community with a bloody past. The villagers are commemorating the death of two young Protestant martyrs who were betrayed and burned at the stake five hundred years ago by creating dolls and tossing them into fire – but it seems like the past isn't willing to stay buried…

Cameron Mackintosh, the London theatre owner and impresario, nixed the idea of having a host introduce artists performing at Tuesday’s one-night-only Old Friends tribute show honoring the legacy of musical theatre genius Stephen Sondheim, who died in November at age 91.
“All you need are Steve’s words and music, and our cast. They speak, or rather sing, for themselves,“ Mackintosh explained to Deadline before the star-studded event began at London’s Stephen Sondheim Theatre.
Worked like a treat. Thirty minutes saved, because Old Friends wasn’t lumbered with a host.
In any case, no one needed to introduce actress Julia McKenzie when she walked onto the stage, for it was she who, with Mackintosh producing, was part of an ensemble that super-spread Sondheim in the West End over four decades ago with a revue entitled Side By Side by Sondheim.
She’s one of the composer and lyricist’s foremost interpreters.

All eyes were on Judi Dench.
The legendary actress was seated stage right, performing one of Stephen Sondheim’s greatest hits. The sound of her voice, accompanied by a 25-piece orchestra led by Alfonso Casado Trigo, held a hushed audience in awe.
There was spontaneous applause. The great dame was led off stage. She reappeared moments later to perform the number again.
“Goosebumps,” said Cameron Mackintosh, echoing the thoughts of those lucky enough to be gathered in the stalls of London’s Stephen Sondheim Theatre for several hours Monday, for a long day and night of technical technical rehearsal for Tuesday night’s celebration of Sondheim, a giant of theatre, who died last November at age 91.

2018 Olivier Awards nominations: ‘Hamilton’ lands record 13, ‘The Ferryman’ leads among plays with 8
Two years after sweeping the Tony Awards, Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s musical “Hamilton” is poised to do the same at the British equivalent, the Olivier Awards. On March 6, it reaped a record 13 bids for these top theater prizes, shattering the record set by the musical “Hairspray” in 2008 and equalled by the play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” last year. On the play side, the leading contender is Jez Butterworth‘s “The Ferryman,” a dark drama about the Irish troubles which is set to come to Broadway in the fall.
Winners will be announced in a ceremony at London’s Royal Albert Hall on April 8 hosted by Catherine Tate. Unlike the Tony Awards, which are showcased live on CBS, the Olivier Awards get only a clips package on ITV later that evening and a live feed on BBC Radio 2.

The title character in Penelope Skinner’s play “Linda,” which had its American premiere Tuesday at the Manhattan Theatre Club, keeps referring to this groundbreaking ad campaign throughout the production’s two-and-a-half-hour running time. British model-turned-actress Lily Cole has impressed audiences and raised money for charity with a star turn in Kevin Spacey's annual theatre extravaganza in London.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus beauty starred in a musical piece for The 24 Hour Plays event at the Old Vic theatre, where Spacey serves as artistic director, on Sunday.
Cole admits she was racked with nerves before taking to the stage alongside West End stars Janie Dee and Ruthie Henshall.
She tells London's Evening Standard, "If I had really thought about it logically it would have been so terrifying, I would have frozen. I just rolled with it. I had a really fun time.
