The channels' director is proud about offering audiences something he believes they can't get anywhere else
James Hunt is thinking about Jon Hamm. In the bath. With Daniel Radcliffe. The Sky Arts channel director's interest is entirely professional, looking ahead to his adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov's A Young Doctor's Notebook, in which the two men will star.
"For Sky Arts to attract Don Draper and Harry Potter in the same production, in the same bath even, it's a dream come true," says Hunt. "It shows not only the ambition of the channel, but the ambition Sky has in trying to attract the world's top talent."
Radcliffe and Hamm play the same doctor at different stages of his life in the four-part series, which begins on 6 December. The drama has been described by the Mad Men star as mixing "madness and the macabre", and it stands every chance of delivering Sky Arts' biggest-ever audience.

New York (AP) — Norah O'Donnell understood the cultural differences that led Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad not to shake her hand before their "CBS This Morning" interview last week, and to request that she not cross her legs. But his references to her as "the lady" were almost too much.
"I had to repeatedly bite my tongue and not say, 'You know, my name is actually Norah O'Donnell,'" she said. "I thought the questions were more important."
Wise decision. It would not have resulted in the kind of publicity a rookie morning-show host needed during her first month on the job. NBC reportedly offered former 'Today' host Meredith Vieira an opportunity to get back in the hot seat, but she turned it down! Read on for more details. Morning news is up in arms as Ann Curry from The Today Show is reportedly on her way out the door. And while Savannah Guthrie -- co-host of the show's 9 am hour -- is rumored to be replacing Ann, TMZ reports the network first offered the position to Meredith Vieira who anchored the show for six years. Meredith allegedly received an offer two week ago, but turned it down simply because she wasn't interested in returning. Ann, 55, has allegedly hired a lawyer, Robert B. Barnett, to represent her in negotiations with NBC to place her in a new position at the network, possibly into a foreign correspondent, according to The NY Times. What do you think, Hollywoodlifers? Would you have liked to see Meredith return to the show?...

Maria Shriver has officially filed for divorce from her husband Arnold Schwarzenegger after it was revealed he had an affair with their housekeeper and has a 13-year-old son from the affair. And now TMZ is reporting that Shriver has been inundated with offers to host TV shows, but so far she has been saying thanks, but no thanks.
TMZ says that everything from talk shows to news magazine programs to news organizations have approached the former news anchor, but she is just wanting to concentrate on being a mom. She also has turned down any interviews so far. The prediction is that if she does one, it will be Oprah who snags it.
Shriver is no stranger to TV hosting and anchoring. Before she was the First Lady of California, she co-anchored the "CBS Morning News," NBC's "Sunday Today" and "NBC Nightly News" on Sundays. She won Peabody Award for...

Hello, Everyone! It’s Monday, Monday…
Last week was amazing, what with the creation of Stephen’s Pac (love the wickedly mischievous look when he asked whether anyone had ever been prosecuted for misusing funds) and an extra day of Colbertian hijinks with Jimmy Fallon. Wasn’t that awesome fun? And all done for the good of kids everywhere. All I can say is: More! More!
The upcoming shows look fantastic—and one person I very much wanted to see a few weeks ago, who didn’t show up, is back on the schedule. Yea!
Monday, April 4th: Andrew Chaikin
This guest is thrilled to be on the show—just go to his website and the first thing you’ll see is a big image from The Colbert Report opening credits, with Stephen grasping the flag. And I’m pretty happy to have Andrew Chaikin on too, because Stephen always...

What better way to spend Election Night than watching classic campaign ads and a political documentary? That is, what better way after you’ve actually gone out and voted. You’re going to vote, right? You better!
Plus, after tonight’s screenings, David Bushman of the Paley Center for Media and investigative reporter Danny Schechter will lead a panel discussion on the “evolution of political media language.”
As for the screenings, it seems that every year politician TV ads get more and more mean-spirited and deceptive. But, is that really the case?
UnionDocs and Cinebeasts have collected a treasure trove of classic campaign ads that reach all the way back to Eisenhower. Some of the better well-known ads that will screen are ’70s Coke commercials that featured Richard Nixon as a punchline and Ronald Reagan’s famous — or infamous,...

Yesterday we reported on the surprising news that Chris Cuomo was going to be leaving Good Morning America (surprising because it was so sudden). Cuomo announced that he would still be on ABC, however, and would take over the co-anchor job on the nighttime news show 20/20.
Unlike Chris Cuomo's announcement, Diane Sawyer had given plenty of notice that she would be leaving Good Morning America and taking over Charles Gibson's anchor position at "World News" (Gibson is retiring).
Diane Sawyer has been part of the political and news landscape in the United States since the early 1970s. From 1978 to 1989, she was a political correspondent and co-anchor of the CBS Morning News, and then 60 Minutes. Sawyer moved to ABC in 1989 to co-anchor Primetime Live with Sam Donaldson (a former co-anchor of 20/20, back when Barbara Walters was also co-anchoring the news program) and even 20/20.

Actress Emmy Rossum had a very special reason to publicly thank Rihanna for speaking out about domestic abuse - because she too is a victim.
The Poseidon star took to her Twitter.com blog to praise the R&B star for her bravery after Rihanna agreed to be interviewed about her infamous attack at the hands of ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.
The singer's candid conversation aired on TV in America last week (05-06Nov09), and Rossum was among the first celebrities to salute her.
She wrote, "Just saw the first half of the interview of (newswoman) Diane Sawyer speaking to Rihanna about domestic violence. She speaks honestly, bravely. So many of my friends have experienced this, it's very close to my heart. I urge young women - & really women of any age - to watch it."
And the Poseidon star used the blog to encourage domestic abuse victims not to suffer in silence, even providing the number for a support service.
And now Rossum has taken a step closer to her own big domestic abuse reveal, after appearing on Los Angeles radio show Valentine in the Morning on Thursday and admitting she's more than just a concerned star.
Asked what compelled her to post her comments online by host Valentine, who suggested she hadn't suffered the same brutality as Rihanna, the actress shot back, "You don't know that I haven't."
The DJ stuck with the story and asked Rossum, "Would you have come forward if you had been in her spot like that?" prompting the actress to stumble over her words, stating, "Like she (Rihanna) said, there's a lot of shame that comes with somebody hurting you and you take a lot of responsibility for it and it's very confusing and upsetting..."
Valentine then asked the star if she had a domestic violence story she'd like to share with his listeners.
Nervous Rossum said, "I'm just not at a point in my life where I'm ready to talk about it."...
