Just announced earlier today at Screen Rant, Oni Press presents Invasive #1, "A Radical New Experiment in Horror" from Cullen Bunn & Jesús Hervás. With the first issue set for release this December, we have an exclusive look at the incredible and haunting character designs from Jesús Hervás and details on how you can get a special look at the upcoming series!
In an underground hospital secretly operating deep beneath the streets of a major metropolis, a radical new addiction has taken hold.
Once inside its grip, there are no rules, no oaths, and no taboos too deep to not to be broken.
The scalpel is their tool, and the alleys are their operating theater...and, together, a new class of surgeon is bent on piercing the final threshold of accepted medical orthodoxy one incision at a time.
Beyond excess, beyond ethics, beyond science...a delicate and excruciating new discipline is about...

Ellen Page is no stranger to films taken from the world of comics, having starred as Kitty Pryde in both Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand and Bryan Singer's upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, but now she's getting ready to dive into another comic book world. The Hollywood Reporter says that the actress is now in talks to star in the new film Queen & Country, which is based on the book of the same name by Greg Rucka, Steve Rolston , Brian Hurtt, and Leandro Fernandez. Adapted by screenwriter Ryan Condal - who's most recent film, the Dwayne Johnson-starring Hercules, will be out next summer - the new film centers on Tara Chase, a field agent working for the UK's Secret Intelligence Service. Her missions take her all around the world to protect Queen and Country. The story will see Chase perform an assassination and be forced...

It's a story that's become all too familiar. First a network options a comic book property, then they make a pilot, we all get our hopes up, and then the network passes on the pilot, crushing dreams in the process. And now "The Sixth Gun" has joined the ranks of "A.K.A. Jessica Jones," "Punisher," "Locke & Key," "Wonder Woman," "Amazon" and "Chew" as another abandoned comic book TV show. When you see that list and consider what might have been, it just gets really... depressing.
Oni Press' "The Sixth Gun" by Cullen Bunn, Brian Hurtt and Bill Crabtree has become a cult favorite and critical darling over the past few years, and its premise seems tailor made for a television series. And with NBC so down on its luck, a quirky show like "The Sixth Gun" with a built-in fanbase could have been just what the network needed.
When you see that list and consider what might have been, it just gets really... depressing.

Just a quick update on NBC’s upcoming adaptation of The Sixth Gun! Like it or not, but The Ruins star Laura Ramsey is now on board to play the female lead, character named Becky Montcrief. If anyone asks, we have nothing against this casting update, as a matter of fact – Ramsey sounds like a perfect choice for this supernatural Western. Created by Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt, The Sixth Gun follows the story of six mythical guns, each with its own other-worldly powers. The rest of the story goes like this: “When the Sixth Gun, the most powerful and dangerous of the group, resurfaces...

Jeffrey Reiner, a veteran TV director (with a varied filmography that includes Awake, The Event, the Caprica pilot, the Wonder Woman failed pilot, Friday Night Lights, and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), has been tasked with directing the pilot for The Sixth Gun. He continues his good relationship with NBC, the network producing the adaptation from the popular Oni Press comic book by Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt. Producing the show along with NBC is Lost honcho Carlton Cuse and screenwriter Ryan Condal.

Last year, it was announced that Oni Press’ comic book The Sixth Gun was being adapted for TV by Lost co-creator Carlton Cuse and screenwriter Ryan Condai. Now, it sounds like NBC is ordering a pilot for the potential series.
The comic book was created by Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt. Here’s the synopsis to expect:
“During the darkest days of the Civil War, wicked cutthroats came into possession of six pistols of otherworldly power. In time the Sixth Gun, the most dangerous of the weapons, vanished. When the gun surfaces in the hands of an innocent girl, dark forces reawaken. Vile men thought long dead set their sights on retrieving the gun and killing the girl. Carlton Cuse is kicking off the new year with some exciting news. NBC has ordered its new 2013 pilots, and his "The Sixth Gun" series is one of them.
The adaptation of Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt's Oni Press comic is being executive produced by Cuse and screenwriter Ryan Condal, and their partnership has had us excited ever since it was announced. The series follows the adventures of gunslinger Drake Sinclair and his mythical firearm. It sounds like just the type of series NBC would take a risk on, and hopefully it ends up being as great as the premise sounds.
This has been a project that NBCUniversal has been interested in for a while. In 2011, it was reported that "The Sixth Gun" would become a series on SyFy, another subsidiary of the company. It seems like the premise was too good to turn down, because now "The Sixth Gun...

"The Walking Dead" returns this Sunday (October 14), and "Arrow" already enjoyed a hugely successful series premiere earlier this week. Is now the time of the comic book television revolution? Two just-announced projects are certainly hoping so!
Deadline reports that "The Sixth Gun," the Oni Press graphic novel from Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt about mysterious gunslinger Drake Sinclair and his mythical firearm, is heading to television courtesy of "Lost" co-showrunner Carlton Cuse. The project is being produced by Universal TV, with no home network announced just yet.
It's the second comic book project that Cuse has attached his name to in recent weeks; he'll also serve as showrunner on "The Strain" for FX, based on the comics and novel series from Guillermo del Toro.
Beyond "The Sixth Gun," the Image Comics series "Peter Panzerfaust" is also in the works for a live-action scripted series from BBC Worldwide Productions and Quality Transmedia.

And the horror development deals keep on coming, as relentless as a walker in Atlanta. Showtime has now entered the horror dogpile by picking up limited comic series The Damned for a dramatic treatment by feature film writer David Hayter (X-Men, X2, Watchmen). The Damned was published by independent graphic novel and comic book publisher Oni Press.
Deadline reported this about the show in development:
The Damned is described as a modern adaptation of the comic, written by Cullen Bunn and illustrated by Brian Hurtt. It will revolve around Eddie, a cursed man who is stuck in the middle of a turf war in modern-day Chicago where mobsters are demons. Eddie must play all the angles to keep the warring families at bay while trying to reclaim his soul.
Sounds great! We’ll keep you posted as details are released.

Seeing comics converted into screenplays is standard these days. But what happens to all the scripts that don't get made?
Well, if you're Kevin Smith, you turn your unfulfilled studio offerings into printed fanboy gold.
The writer/actor/filmmaker doesn't always follow the status quo and as with his planned Green Hornet film, which he was set to write and direct before dropping out in 2004, he's taken another unmade project to the comic book world instead.
This time it's his attempted big-screen rendition of The Six Million Dollar Man, the 70s television series that starred Lee Majors as Steve Austin, a former astronaut enhanced with technology after a near-fatal accident. Smith has rebuilt his screenplay as a comic called The Bionic Man.
As previewed by Bleeding Cool, the new comic will be co-written by Phil Hester (an artist on Smith's Green Arrow series) with Jonathan Lau on art duties. Published by Dynamite,...
