This time round its the horror film Midnight Movie, in particular the “Killer Cut” which was released years after the films original debut, fixing some of the issues the director had with them film.

Nothing Left to Fear is the first terrific terror tale from Slasher Films (founded by Guns N’ Roses rock legend/horror nut Slash), directed by Gore Verbinski’s visionary protégé Anthony Leonardi III. The film stars James Tupper and Anne Heche as the new pastor and his wife who arrive in Stull, Kansas, with their three kids hoping for an idyllic country life. At first the town and its people look like being the answer to their prayers, but then the supposedly retiring pastor Clancy Brown puts into motion an ancient ritual that unleashes a demonic fury. For Stull is one of the seven gateways to Hell and its inhabitants must quell the Beast who rises to walk the Earth at all bloody costs.

Beware the horror movie that lists its "special effects" team too high in the credits. It's a dead giveaway: "This is what we spent our money on" and "This is what we're proudest of."
But hats off to Spectral Motion and effects maestro Mike Elizalde. The ghosts in "Nothing Left to Fear" are the only things to fear in this pedestrian spook fest.
They could have pitched this as a reunion of the on-and-off-screen paramours of the late TV show "Men in Trees" -- Anne Heche and James Tupper. But who remembers that?
They play a preacher and his wife who move their family -- two sassy, profane daughters, Becky and Mary (Rebekah Brandes and Jennifer Stone) and a younger son (Carter Cabassa) -- to Small Town, U.S.A., for a fresh start. Preacher Dan (Tupper) was recruited by Preacher Kingsman (Clancy Brown) to take over his flock upon retirement.

When a family is as generic as the Bramfords, you get a little antsy waiting for them to be killed off one by one. Nothing Left to Fear—a by-the-numbers chiller produced by Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash—opens with a minister's family moving to the creepy, boring little town of Stull, Kansas. One of the daughters (Jennifer Stone) is soon marked for death (or worse) because she chooses the wrong slice of a ludicrously menacing cake. Her older sister (Rebekah Brandes) seems taken with a local boy (Ethan Peck, long on muscle but short on charisma), who always seems this close to telling her a dark secret. Said secret involves Pastor Kingsman (Clancy Brown), the town's sinister former parson who's taking his retirement in town, like a Podunk Pope Benedict. It's all...

It's long-lived, groan-inducing tradition for actors to try and scoot way into the realm of music (often much to the chagrin of our collective eardrums), but lately there've been more and more cases of the opposite happening. Think Ludacris and the "Fast and Furious" franchise, Mariah Carey in "The Butler" or whatever the kids are calling it these days and, uh, Rihanna in the "Battleship." We could go on ... The point is, musicians are becoming movie people more and more whether we like or not.
For the latest installment of this trend, Slash — yes, the Guns N' Roses guitarist — has produced himself a little horror movie called "Nothing Left to Fear," and today the rocker offered up some face-time himself to introduce this first trailer for it.

Jennifer Stone ("Wizards of Waverly Place") will star in the horror-thriller Nothing to Fear. She'll play an edgy and impetuous teen whose family moves to a small town for a better life, which doesn't wind up happening due to a emotionally twitchy priest (Clancy Brown - the voice of Mr. Krabs in "Spongebob Squarepants.") James Tupper (Mr. Popper's Penguins, "Revenge") and Anne Heche ("Higglytown Heroes") play the girl's parents; in real life, they are a couple and parents of to a 3-year old. Ethan Peck ("10 Things I Hate About You") and Rebekah Brandes (Bellflower) also star. Storyboard artist Anthony Leonardi III will make his feature directorial debut. Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash is producing through his Slasher films; I guess with a name like Slash, you've got to make horror films. Anchor Bay Films is distributing the indie.

Following news that hit about two weeks back, Variety reports that Runner, Runner has made Gemma Arterton the latest member of its sprightly cast. Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer) and his team have already grabbed Ben Affleck, Justin Timberlake, Oliver Cooper (Project X), and Anthony Mackie for the film, which revolves around a Princeton student (Timberlake) who ends up working for the online gambling site that already drained him of funds. Arterton has a thrilling, transgressive role, having been pegged to play the main character’s love interest.
Brian Koppelman and David Levien wrote the screenplay, a job that’s more than likely to bring them back to their Rounders days — only, this time, the gambling is much more modern and “high-tech.” (This aspect might actually be transgressive, now that I think about it.) New Regency, Appian Way, Stone Village Pictures, and Double Features will produce the film for a June shoot,...

Shannon, Caroline White As quickly and unexpectedly as Amanda (Amy Lavere) decides to move in with her long distance boyfriend, Richard (Kentucker Audley), she runs away from Richard even faster. She never seems to understand her own motives in escaping out of Richard's bathroom window, it is just something she does. From the get-go, it seems as though Amanda bases her decisions upon intuition alone, seemingly with no rhyme or reason to justify them. This is Amanda's modus operandi, but her knack for whimsical decision making has left her living out of her Mercedes Benz as if it is an armoire on wheels. Thanks to the producing powers of famed guitarist Slash, Variety reports that Rebekah Brandes (Bellflower) has acquired a primary role in Nothing to Fear, the inaugural film from the former’s new production company, Slasher Films. She’s joining a cast that already includes Anne Heche, Clancy Brown, Ethan Peck, and James Tupper, and one that Anthony Leonardi III will make his directorial debut with.
Being a little horror picture, Fear centers on a family trying to start a new life in a small Kansas town, only to find out that their home is one of the seven gateways to hell. In the lineup, Tupper is the fictional family’s patriarch, Heche the mother, and Brandes their daughter; Brown has been hired to play “a charismatic but emotionally conflicted man of the cloth.” Now that the main cast has been, far as I can tell, mostly assembled, production on Nothing to Fear...

Let's talk about the ladies of "Bellflower." I am fascinated by the accusations I've read that "Bellflower" is in some way a misogynistic film, and I heartily disagree. I think the movie is meant to be enormously personal, and I don't buy for a second that Woodrow, the main character played by writer/director Evan Glodell, is a woman-hater. Far from it. He's a guy who is easily crushed because of how much he lets himself fall when he meets Milly, played by Jessie Wiseman, and the dynamic between her and her best friend Courtney, played by Rebekah Brandes, may be poisonous,...

Chicago – A film about the American Dream returned to the sender is released, in its own way and time, through the youth of every generation. “Bellflower” feels like the anarchist statement of the current post college dreamers, stuck in a detached atmosphere with electronic time wasters, material glut and little income opportunity to pay for it all.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
Evan Glodell wrote, directed and stars in this hallucinatory vision of the screw-it-all drifters who strive to kill their boredom through the building of extreme weaponry and motor vehicles. Part of it is a love story, but that is destined to fail when anticipating the end of the world, and the civilizing nature of love has no effect on men who were born to die.
Glodell is Woodrow, a midwesterner who moved to California with his best buddy Aiden (Tyler Dawson) to pursue the movies and their own fantasies associated with them.

Chicago – Honest anarchy in American film is as rare today as a weekend without a super hero movie. Writer, director and lead actor Evan Glodell steps up to the counter-society plate with a epic crash-and-burn new release called “Bellflower,” and pushes the envelope for apocalyptic storytelling and micro-budget magic.
Bellflower is a simple story, produced through Glodell’s own Coatwolf Productions, about love and car customizing. It features two buds with similar passions from the Midwest, Woodrow (Glodell) and Aiden (Tyler Dawson). They have visions of the apocalypse, and prepare for it by using their free time to construct flame throwers and one-of-a-kind vehicles, mostly patterned after their childhood love of the Mad Max/Road Warrior series. When Woodrow falls in love, the fallout is decidedly more fatalistic than any aftermath of the end days.

In Bellflower, the screen is drenched with smeary yellow-orange hues evocative of a feverish world—Southern California as seen by a pair of thirtysomething Wisconsian slackers—continually splashed by its denizens' hormonal juices. Lit like a sun-stroked trance and composed in frame-crumbling partial focus, it’s a world ready for an apocalypse, which the characters await eagerly: Steam-punk warriors in their own minds, gearheads Woodrow (director-writer-editor Evan Glodell) and Aiden (Tyler Dawson) dedicate themselves to turning San Fernando Valley into Thunderdome, toting homemade flamethrowers and tricking out their Buick into a replica of Mad Max's metallic leviathans. Stunted macho fantasies collide with reality as fellow joyriders Milly (Jessie Wiseman) and Courtney (Rebekah Brandes) enter the picture to simultaneously expand and threaten the male protagonists’ sheltered territory with the promise of romance and heartbreak. Machines roar as relationships collapse, motor oil and blood flow. Suspended between a low-key Sundance drama and...

There's a reason young people leave their parents in flyover country and head for California. Southern California attracts outdoors types including surfers, swimmers, tanners, and everyone who likes to dress casually and lead the laid-back life enjoyed by Alan Alda's character, Bill Warren, in Herbert Ross's "California Suite." If there are other reasons to go west, they motivate people like the twenty-somethings in Evan Glodell's "Bellflower," a picture not bound by a strict narrative structure or rational, sober people. If Woodrow (Evan Glodell), his best friend Aiden (Tyler Dawson), the nubile blonde Milly (Jessie Wiseman), her best friend Courtney (Rebekah Brandes, and Milly's roommate Mike (Vincent Grashaw) enjoy California, it's not for the weather or even the outdoors but for the drinking. As the summer movie season begins to wind down, the first weekend in August provides films from two genres that are always solid audience pleasers: The big budget blockbuster and the side-splitting comedy.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes will likely lead the pack at the Cineplex this weekend. The origins story based on the Planet of the Apes series stars James Franco as a scientist developing what he believes will be a cure for Alzheimer’s.
The Change-Up arrives to tickle the funny bone. Starring Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman in a R-rated body switch comedy, look for the film to come in second at the box office with its mediocre to solid entertainment reviews. (Don’t miss our review going live later today!)

Title: Bellflower Director: Evan Glodell Starring: Evan Glodel, Tyler Dawson, Jessie Wiseman, Rebekah Brandes, Vincent Grashaw When a filmmaker attempts to do something different mechanically, the majority of moviegoers will probably never give it a fair shake. At times these said moviegoers are justified, for just being different from the norm, doesn’t necessarily translate to solid, ground-breaking filmmaking. “Bellflower” is one of those flicks that execute an approach that isn’t all that smooth; in fact, it can be uncomfortable. What keeps this 106 minute film engaging though, is writer/director and co-star Evan Glodell used the proper story to run in stereo with his artistic shooting approach. Most of the time....

Last spring during SXSW Dread Central had an opportunity to chat with almost the entire cast of Bellflower, and with the film’s impending limited release starting tomorrow, we thought this would be a good time to share it with our readers.
Sadly, writer/director/star Evan Glodell had been sidelined with an ailment at the time of DC’s exclusive video chat with the Bellflower gang during the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas back in March.
In the interview we find out more about their experiences getting the "love story with apocalyptic stakes" off the ground and how the overwhelmingly positive responses the gritty love gone wrong flick Bellflower has been receiving ever since the film’s debut at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival have been an amazing experience for the entire cast, who put their heart and soul into the project over several years.

The story of Bellflower is as interesting off-screen as it is on.
Evan Glodell, the writer, director and star originally started working on it in 2003. He had cast most of the roles but through the fate of filmmaking, it never happened. Cut to 2008: They start filming; editing took two years and once they were done, everyone they screened the film for shot it down.
Finally, with no money, Evan scrounged the fee together to submit the film to Sundance and it became one of the ‘go see’ movies at the festival.
The film is about two friends (Glodell and Tyler Dawson) who spend their free time building flamethrowers and a working on a souped up car named Medusa in hopes of a global acoplyapse. When Milly (Jesse Wiseman) enters the picture, things take eventually take a turn for the worse.
