This review contains spoilers.
1.2 Yesterday Once More
The first time that I heard Bob Dylan I was in the car with my mother, and we were listening to, I think, maybe Wmca, and on came that snare shot that sounded like somebody kicked open the door to your mind - Bruce Springsteen
It becomes very clear, early on in this second episode, just why Vinyl, a TV show obsessed with rock ’n’ roll is set in the 1970s, rather than during the genre’s birth in the 1950s or at its high water mark in the late 1960s. She believes their deaths were at the supernatural hands of forces unleashed through an eerie antique in their home, The Lasser Glass. Tracing the provenance of the oversized mirror, adult Kaylie tracks it to an auction house, where she purchases it, and with the help of recently released Tim, she takes history’s reflections head-on. In the upcoming horror movie Oculus (review), Garret Ryan is relentlessly tormented by Katee Sackhoff. Not a bad gig, right? But let me tell you… this is not the sexy Starbuck "Battlestar Galactica" Sackhoff...
...and it’s certainly not the glamour gal of magazine fashion spreads and red carpet events…
In Oculus the buxom blonde is reduced to a frothing, clawing, lunatic mom who’s out to kill her daughter, Kaylie (Annalise Basso), and son, Tim (Ryan); and she will stop at nothing.
When it comes to life vs. death, Tim must take matters into his own hands. But just because crazy-mom is dead, it doesn’t mean she’s gone!
Read on to see what Garrett has to say about that and more.
Dread Central: We'd love to know all about Oculus -- who do you play, and what's the story?
Garret Ryan: I play the role of young Tim Russell.

We had a chance to sit down with director Mike Flanagan to discuss his new flick, Oculus (review), so we jumped at it. Read on for the scoop on the film, where it's going from here, and of course... what kind of terrors await you.
For those that don't know, Oculus was originally released as a short film many years ago so we asked Mike why he had decided to revisit the film and flesh it out further.
"We did Oculus the short back in 2005. I always hoped that it would turn into an anthology series. I wanted to do more shorts, but unfortunately I was never able to scrape together the resources to do so. However, once it went out and hit the festivals for a while, there was an immediate interest in a feature length expansion. The movie is home to mirrors and cameras inside of a room,...

Last week saw the DVD release of The Returned (Les Revenants), the French drama that aired on Channel 4 earlier this year about the dead reappearing in a small mountain town. Last month I had a whole heap of fun marathon-viewing all four seasons of Justified and keeping a diary as I went along, and so here I am again doing the same thing with The Returned, which presents us with a much more manageable 8 episodes to delve into.
Below are recaps/diary entries; real-time thoughts, feelings and reactions to the show that we had whilst watching each episode, through the unique prism of a binge-watch. If you’ve seen the show already then feel free to dive in and read the diary in one big binge, but if you’re planning on watching the show for the first time on DVD too, then you might be advised to revisit the diary after each episode.

Written and directed by Pascal Laugier
Featuring Jessica Biel, Jodelle Ferland, Stephen McHattie, William B. Davis
Laugier’s The Tall Man is, unfortunately, not a remake of Phantasm nor a prequel to Phantasm in which we find out about the origins of The Tall Man. It is, instead, a run-of-the-mill twist-y thriller set in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.
Laugier’s only real film credit prior to this was 2008’s torture-religion study Martyrs, about a sect that ritualistically torments a young woman to help her attain a sort of painful ecstasy of perfection. If Martyrs was a little heavy-handed then so is The Tall Man, with its unflinching heroine and decidedly important sociological statement about how the shitty economy in the United States is affecting children’s lives.
Set somewhere near Seattle, Washington, The Tall Man happens among sweeping vistas of rain-stained meadows and forests. In a small town,...

Julie Goodyear is to appear on 'Celebrity Big Brother'. The 70-year-old actress - who is best known for playing Bet Lynch in 'Coronation Street' - has signed a reported £300,000 deal to enter the house when the show returns in August and programme bosses are hoping she will be as big a hit as last series' winner Denise Welch. A show source said: ''Julie may be getting on a bit but she's certainly game for a laugh. ''Denise proved that the Corrie stars bring in a decent audience and don't mind poking fun at themselves and having a laugh. ''Julie is keen as mustard...

Last week, Bethenny Frankel's "Run for your Life" side was in it to win it with intense talks of walk-in closet floor plans, family betrayals and Hoppy's (apparently) signature "Behind Grind." She even sported a platinum blonde wig and movie star sunglasses to spy on Cookie at the dog park. Really. But now onto bigger and brighter things. We get to see Ellen DeGeneres tonight, as she brings Queen B to the stage for some guaranteed belly laughs and deep questioning about the "lost at sea" story. And of course, the infamous Forbes fiasco is coming into play tonight. But enough foreplay, let's jump right in.
"Can't Get Enough of You" Bethenny
- Trying to explain with a mouth full of food that "the row boat guy" from her boating disaster told media outlets that she and Hoppy called 9-1-1 and essentially made up the entire emergency. Props...

There are a few things in my life that I need in order to survive: pizza, cats and Jeopardy.
It's like I need there to be this constant feeling of gratification that forces myself and others to realize that all those lonely hours of Googling things like, "Why is the sky blue?" and "Is Jamie Lee Curtis a hermaphrodite?" really paid off. Jeopardy makes that possible, which is why I seldom miss an episode.
Hence, the reason I sat alone on my couch completely excited when I saw that one of the categories last week was "Women Directors." I was surprised also because I'm pretty sure Alex Trebek is one of the most sexist people on the planet. It's almost become a drinking game in my house now — drink every time Alex says something sexist. Drink every time Alex says something racist. Drink every time Alex is an asshole. It's fun; try it!

On Survivor Redemption Island, Matt and Mike may have won the first three-way duel, making its loser, Dave, the first member of the jury, and Julie may have been voted off, but the episode was entirely about Phillip, the former federal agent whose spiral into odd behavior reached a new low tonight, when he turned others' response to his behavior into something about race. Maggot-infested rice led Phillip and some tribemates to dump out their...

Modern Family garnered 14 Emmy nominations this season, including one for almost every adult cast member. Ed O'Neill reportedly insisted on being placed in the Supporting Actor category with his co-stars, perhaps missing out on a Leading Actor nod since the supporting slots were filled by Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Ty Burrell. Both Sofia Vergara and Julie Bowen were nominated in the Supporting Actress category.
In a recent Movieline interview, Bowen said she doesn't expect to take home the statue over Vergara saying, “Sofia will win. I don’t think, I know.”
Julie may just be right if the latest Modern Family "For Your Consideration" ad in Variety has as much influence on voters as the marketing department hopes it will.
The ad simply read, "If Modern Family wins the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy, Sofia Vergara will run naked down Sunset Blvd." That's sure to get some votes, unless,...

(S06E19) "Sometimes ... we let it in." - Mary Alice about "Evil"
After months without mentioning the strangler storyline, 'Desperate Housewives' finally let "Evil" back in and treated us not only with hints and, sadly, a new killing, but also with the identity of the culprit!!!
We first saw the person in the second episode of the season. My immediate instinct was that the strangled was a young man with whom Julie may have had a complicated "thing" with and that I didn't think it was Julie's ex (played by Steven Weber). In comments TV Squad readers left to my review of that episode, most fingers were pointed at Danny, McCluskey, Ana, Angie, Roy, and Katherine. Of course, as more episodes aired, people were added to the list while others were removed. Did you guess right? The answer coming up!

The mum of X Factor judge Simon Cowell has admitted that she wishes her son was still with his ex-girlfriend, Terri Seymour.
Simon and Terri dated for six years before they split one year ago.
Julie Cowell told new! magazine: “Terri loved Simon purely for the person he is, unlike some of the others.
“She was my favourite, but sadly Simon is married to his work!”
Julie may not like Simon’s other ex Sinitta quite so much. She accused her of lying when she said that she met Simon at the young age of 14.
Julie added: “Sinitta certainly got it wrong when she claimed she met Simon when she was 14. Simon was living at home at the time and I know she was at least 17 or 18!”
On whether Simon will ever have kids of his own Julie said:
“When he was 19, he told me he never wanted to get married.
