20th Century Studios announced production is now underway on Deliver Me from Nowhere starring The Bear‘s Jeremy Allen White as The Boss. Based on Warren Zanes’ 2023 book of the same name, Deliver Me from Nowhere will primarily shoot in New Jersey and New York.
“Beginning production on this film is an incredibly humbling and thrilling journey,” said writer/director Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart). “Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska has profoundly shaped my artistic vision. The album’s raw, unvarnished portrayal of life’s trials and resilience resonates deeply with me. Our film aims to capture that same spirit, bringing Warren Zanes’ compelling narrative of Bruce’s life to the screen with authenticity and hope, honoring Bruce’s legacy in a transformative cinematic experience.

Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman find a way to make holiday travel even more challenging than usual in the trailer for the Netflix thriller Carry-On.
Director Jaume Collet-Serra’s airport-focused action film hits the streaming service Dec. 13. Rounding out the cast are Sofia Carson, Danielle Deadwyler, Sinqua Walls, Logan Marshall-Green, Theo Rossi, Josh Brener and Dean Norris.
Carry-On centers on an inexperienced Tsa agent (Egerton) who ends up in a battle of wits with a mysterious traveler (Bateman) after the stranger blackmails him into allowing a dangerous package onto a flight on Christmas Eve.
“You have 10 minutes before everybody in this airport dies,” Bateman says in voiceover in the trailer. “All you have to do is nothing.”
Collet-Serra (Black Adam, Jungle Cruise) helmed the movie from a script by T.J. Fixman. Dylan Clark produces the film, while executive producers on the project include Collet-Serra, Holly Bario, Brian Williams, Seth William Meier and Scott Greenberg.

Hollywood stardom is a cycle, with It Boys and Girls emerging every couple of years and going through periods of ubiquity before they either make it to mega-stardom or decide to take a different path. While that initial push by producers and studios of "Hey, world, here's your new leading actor!" can be distasteful or off-putting to audiences who haven't quite embraced an up-and-coming actor yet, it can also leave the projects these ingenues make during this period high and dry, the films themselves treated like a byproduct of a separate agenda. Granted, some of these films starring not-quite stars as the leads can feel awkward in retrospect, yet some look like hidden gems in hindsight. Or, if not quite gems, then at least decent entertainment that shouldn't have been lost in the shuffle.

In Rob Reiner's classic 80s rom-com When Harry Met Sally, there's a moment where Billy Crystal's Harry asks Meg Ryan's Sally, "Don't you have a dark side?" And whilst in that film, as in so many others over the years, that question serves as the set-up for a Crystal comic zinger, in Sarah Thorp's upcoming Apple TV+ psychological thriller Before, it looks like we'll be seeing the iconic funnyman's own dark side for the first time. Here, Crystal plays Eli, a grieving child psychiatrist who develops an inexplicable bond with troubled patient Noah (Jacobi Jupe) — and if the first trailer's anything to go by, then it looks like things may be about to take a turn for the supernatural in Crystal's dramatic lead debut. Check it out:
Dead wife. Creepy farmhouse. Even creepier kid. And a dramatic rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'? Monsters, Inc. this ain't.

Since breaking through (at least to me) as the loose cannon nutso friend Shawn Eckardt in I, Tonya, Paul Walter Hauser has had a series of celebrated roles playing guys on the outskirts, including the bumbling Horace in Cruella, “Stingray” in Cobra Kai, the title character of the accused Atlanta Olympics bomber in Clint Eastwood’s Richard Jewell, hopeless criminal Booch in the current The Instigators, and his Emmy-winning role as creepy killer Larry Hall in Black Bird.
Well, chalk up another one as Hauser knocks it out of the park on the weirdo scale as legendary game show contestant Michael Larson in The Luckiest Man in America, which just had its world premiere as one of the 2024 Toronto Film Festival’s opening-night attractions. With his sophomore outing, “The Luckiest Man in America,” Colombian filmmaker Samir Oliveros asks a simple question: How far would you go to make a better life for yourself and those around you? The way he chooses to answer it, however, turns out to be far more complex, made all the more intriguing by virtue of the fact that this contemporary tall tale is largely based in truth. Set in 1984 and taking place almost entirely within the confines of CBS‘s Television City studios, this biographical thriller follows the story of Michael Larson, an unemployed ice cream truck driver who manages to earn a spot on the game show “Press Your Luck” and beats the odds to receive the biggest payout ever. How he did so is what makes this stranger-than-fiction narrative so compelling. This and, of course, the very talented cast bringing this legendary episode of television back to life.

In one of the best scenes in I’ll Be Right There, a character reveals a family story involving an improbable getaway driver. Taking in this tale is her middle-aged daughter, who knows a thing or two about driving — although her role behind the wheel is more along the lines of schlepping to and fro than making a break for it. These two strong women are played, respectively, by Jeannie Berlin and Edie Falco, actors of ineffable down-to-earth zing. When, later in the movie, the screen fills with a slo-mo shot of them running side by side down a hospital corridor, it feels like a winking, loving gift, one of the giddy dividends from this wry take on family and midlife anxieties.

“Baby Reindeer” submitted four actors for Emmy nominations this season, and all four of them made the cut. Of those, the least certain was Best Movie/Limited Supporting Actor contender Tom Goodman-Hill. We had ranked him eighth in our odds for the nomination, but he defied the odds and got into the field of seven. And that might have been the hardest part. Now that he’s a nominee, he has jumped to third place in our odds for who will win. A victory would be especially impressive given how subtle and insidious a performance it is.
Goodman-Hill is a veteran character actor with credits spanning more than 30 years, but this is his first major industry recognition. He plays Darrien, a successful TV writer who entices struggling comedian Donny (Best Movie/Limited Actor nominee Richard Gadd) with promises of a career breakthrough, but is actually grooming him for sexual abuse.

Paul Walter Hauser is one of the busiest actors in Hollywood, and one of his many (and I mean many) upcoming projects is a Chris Farley biopic. Stepping into the shoes of the iconic comedian is no small task, but Hauser told Variety that he’s been “practicing to play Chris Farley my entire life.“
Hauser has played a handful of real-life people throughout his career, including Shawn Eckhardt in I, Tonya, Richard Jewell in Richard Jewell, and Larry Hall in Black Bird, but Farley is by far the most well-known, which makes Hauser’s task more difficult.
“Everybody’s going to judge the crap out of the movie and have very passionate, hard-line opinions. I’m not worried about playing Chris because I know I’m going to approach it with a lot of love and effort,” Hauser said. “At the end of the day, all you can do...

Lionsgate has set a release date of Labor Day weekend, August 30, for the action crime thriller 1992, which is one of Ray Liotta’s final film roles. The Emmy-winning actor co-starred in the movie opposite Tyrese Gibson. In addition today, Snoop Dogg boarded the movie as EP through his Death Row Pictures banner.
1992 joins other wide entries on August 30: Sony/Blumhouse’s horror movie They Listen, Showbiz Direct Distribution’s Dennis Quaid title Reagan, and Roadside Attractions’ Jason Patric thriller City of Dreams.
Here’s the 1992 poster that dropped today.
Liotta died in May 2022 at the age of 67 from heart and respiratory issues. At the time, there were several projects he had already shot, i.e, Elizabeth Banks’ Cocaine Bear and the Apple TV+ series Black Bird. Liotta received a posthumous Best Supporting Actor Limited Series Emmy nom for Black Bird; previously, he won the Drama Guest Actor Emmy in 2005 for NBC’s ER.

Hugh Laurie has never won an Emmy. That seems like an egregious oversight on behalf of TV academy voters, considering the British actor starred as one of the best TV characters of this century in “House.” Still, 10 nominations (we’ll get to those later) and zero wins.
He could finally break that losing streak with Netflix’s “All the Light We Cannot See.” Adapted from Anthony Doerr‘s 2014 novel of the same name, written by Steven Knight, and directed by Shawn Levy, this miniseries depicts the lives of two teenagers during WWII — one a blind French girl and the other a German boy forced to fight for the Nazi regime. Laurie features as Uncle Étienne, a reclusive, agoraphobic WWI veteran suffering from Ptsd. Laurie has always been a classy performer and he again brings a lot of heart, warmth, and intelligence here to this role, as noted by several critics.

Mark Wahlberg and Paul Walter Hauser are ready to get their kicks with a new action-comedy movie from director Peter Farrelly.
Farrelly is set to reunite with Amazon MGM Studios on Balls Up, which hails from Skydance. Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese (Deadpool & Wolverine) wrote the script for the feature that focuses on two marketing executives who get fired for botching a potential opportunity. While using a pair of free tickets to a big soccer match, their drunken shenanigans cause everyone in the country to start hunting them down.
Producers include David Ellison for Skydance, alongside Wernick, Reese, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger and Andrew Muscato.
Farrelly is collaborating again with Amazon MGM after directing Zac Efron and John Cena in the studio’s Ricky Stanicky, which debuted earlier this year on Prime Video. Ricky Stanicky marked the There’s Something About Mary filmmaker’s return to comedy after winning an Oscar for his 2018 drama Green Book.

Exclusive: The upcoming Bruce Springsteen movie Deliver Me From Nowhere is continuing to add to its ensemble cast, as sources tell Deadline that Paul Walter Hauser is in negotiations to join movie. While not confirmed, sources say he will play longtime guitar tech Mike Batlan in the 20th Century Studios movie.
Jeremy Allen White is set to play Springsteen and Scott Cooper is directing the biopic, which tells the story of the making of the classic Springsteen album Nebraska.

Marvel's First Family hasn't had much luck on screen. There was the infamous 1994 Fantastic Four movie produced by the late Roger Corman which never officially saw the light of day and then the big budget 2005 and 2007 movies starring Chris Evans, Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd and Michael Chiklis.
Those weren't great and were a product of their time; so, when a reboot from Chronicle director Josh Trank rolled around in 2015, there was a fair bit of excitement among fans.
The trailers promised a body-horror tale but studio-mandated reshoots turned it into a mess.
The team has sat on the shelf ever since, though that will finally change next year with Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four. Filmmaker Matt Shakman has assembled an impressive A-List cast, including Black Bird and Cruella star Paul Walter Hauser.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor admitted that those awful past efforts made him think twice about starring in this latest reboot.

It was not lost on Paul Walter Hauser that previous film representations of the Fantastic Four did not exactly set the world on fire.
During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the in-demand actor reveals that those poorly received movie adaptations of Marvel’s superhero team made him give some extra thought before joining director Matt Shakman’s Disney film that is set to hit theaters July 25, 2025. Hauser, who recently earned an Emmy for his role in Black Bird, will play a not-yet-disclosed role in the project that features Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing).
“Don’t think that didn’t weigh in as I was deciding whether or not to take the job,” Hauser says of the property’s checkered Hollywood past. “That movie has not fully been nailed just yet.”
He continues, “But I really do think the combination of the screenplay,...

Apple TV’s flagship series “The Morning Show” returned last fall for a third season with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon again electrifying our screens. The show initially followed allegations of sexual misconduct surrounding a male co-anchor (Steve Carell) as the #MeToo movement was explored. Later, the series delved into other political topics and current events such as racial inequality, Russia invading Ukraine, Covid-19, and the Capitol insurrection.
Our guiding lights throughout all of this are Aniston’s powerhouse Alex Levy and Witherspoon’s moral-driven Bradley Jackson. In season three, they have to contend with affairs, media mergers, tech moguls (Jon Hamm), producers, and even going into space.
Season three quite literally explored new territories and critics felt that the show hit its stride, nailing its mad-cap, ludicrously entertaining tone.
Peter Travers (ABC News) noted: “Aniston and Witherspoon, plus star newbie Jon Hamm, power up the best season yet for...

Apple TV+ has a lush new series, “Palm Royale,” that is as beautiful to watch as its all-star cast, led by Kristen Wiig, Carol Burnett, Allison Janney and Laura Dern. Abe Sylvia adapted Juliet McDaniel‘s novel “Mr. and Mrs. American Pie.” This period piece set in 1969. is centered on Wiig as an outsider trying to gain a place in Palm Beach’s high society. The vistas are all pretty to look at while the petty politicking keeps things zipping along. Critics have hailed this clever comedy.
André Hereford (Metro Weekly) noted: “‘Palm Royale’ revs up the comedy slowly but ultimately hits cruising speed as a gleefully campy spin on nighttime soaps.”
Joey Moser (Awards Daily) observed: “Supported by a game, limber cast, ‘Palm Royale’ is a cheeky, gorgeous tale of ambition and identity led by a never-better Wiig.”

Cruella and Richard Jewell star Paul Walter Hauser is one of the most exciting additions to The Fantastic Four, but as we write this, there's still no word on who he's playing.
Mole Man is the most popular suggestion among comic book fans, though it's just as easy to imagine him voicing H.E.R.B.I.E., for example. Marvel's First Family has many allies and enemies on the page so Hauser could ultimately be portraying any number of characters in the upcoming reboot.
Talking to Screen Rant, Hauser broke his silence on joining The Fantastic Four and confirmed he's playing someone from the comics.
"[All] I can say is that I, in some iteration, am in the movie The Fantastic Four until I get fired or recast. So I can't say anything about the character I'm playing, but know that it is in the sort of lexicon and mythology of The Fantastic Four stories,...

Hulu’s acclaimed new limited series “We Were the Lucky Ones” is led by Logan Lerman. who give the best performance of his career. Adapted from Georgia Hunter‘s 2017 book of the same, the story follows the Kurcs, a Polish Jewish family torn apart by WWII. It’s a difficult watch but creator Erica Lipez has crafted a gripping, vital narrative with Lerman at the center of the show. He plays Addy Kurc, the middle child who pursues a career as a composer in post-war Paris. Critics agree, Lerman is a revelation in this role.
Proma Khosla (Indie Wire) stated: “As Addy, Lerman is siloed from the other siblings for almost the entire series, but never waivers in his portrayal of someone sustained by hope and eventually in the haze of grief.”
Maggie Levitt (Collider) observed: “Lerman is another clear standout in the series, though his performance is more subtle...

Exclusive: No decision has been made official, but sources tell Deadline that New Line is the favorite to land the package that is based on the biography The Chris Farley Show with Paul Walter Hauser attached to play the legendary comedian. The pitch is based on the book by Farley’s brother Tom Farley Jr. and Tanner Colby and will be adapted by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber with Josh Gad directing. Apple TV+ is sure to perform well at this year’s Emmys with a number of shows strongly positioned including “Lessons in Chemistry,” “Sugar,” “Manhunt,” “The New Look,” and “Masters of the Air.” Well, add in another limited series to that mix — the historical drama “Franklin,” starring Oscar-winner Michael Douglas as the titular Benjamin Franklin.
The show chronicles Franklin’s eight years in France, wherein he attempted to convince King Louis XVI (Tom Pezier) to support the colonies in the American Revolutionary War. The series, as you’d expect, features fabulous costumes, sets, and hair and makeup. It is anchored by a powerhouse performance from Douglas, whose take on Franklin is a more modern one. The show is all the more entertaining for it, as noted by critics.
Michael Starr (New York Post) stated: “My advice is to sit back and enjoy Douglas as he admirably chews the scenery and...

Tobias Menzies has become one of our most reliably excellent actors of late. Classically trained, he had an extensive theatre career in his native England during the noughties and early 2010s before he rose to prominence with roles in “Game of Thrones” and “Outlander.”
Menzies’ profile then increased further thanks to his lauded portrayal of Prince Phillip in “The Crown” and his stock has again risen thanks to his role as another major historical figure in Apple TV’s “Manhunt.” The acclaimed limited series follows the death of President Abraham Lincoln (played by Hamish Linklater) and the subsequent 12-day manhunt for assassin John Wilkes Booth (Anthony Boyle).
Menzies stars as Edwin Stanton, the Secretary of State and personal friend of Lincoln who headed up the hunt for Booth. Menzies proves himself capable of carrying this compelling show entirely on his own. His complex, gruff portrayal of Stanton is what makes the series soar,...
