Hale recalled that her Hannah Montana audition happened when she was 14 and still living in Tennessee. “It was a couple years before they had cast Miley in it,” she said. “I remember the audition. It was a taped audition in Tennessee.

In a new interview, Palmer reflects on her career and the Hollywood limitations being a young Black woman.

“I wasn’t necessarily in the same conversations as Victoria Justice or Selena Gomez or Miley Cyrus at that time,” Palmer told The Cut in an interview, adding that “people were putting limitations” on her. “It was very much ‘That’s the Black show’ or ‘That’s Keke Palmer, the Black girl on the network.’”

Palmer starred in the Nickelodeon sitcom for three seasons (2008 through 2011), playing the role of True Jackson, a teenager hired to be Vice President of a fashion company.

Right off the bat, Peluso announces she’s “Hannah Montana” before Tokischa boasts about her diamond-studded smile. The Skrillex-produced track showcases the Latin stars’ myriad of talents as they deliver swagger-heavy couplets over a mix of old-school hip-hop beats and reggaeton rhythms. “De Maravisha” was co-written by Tokischa and Peluso.

Since then, he appeared in both Camp Rock movies and headlined the TV series Jonas, on top of multiple albums.

The quarter-finals of the mystery celebrity singing competition aired on Wednesday night (December 4) on Fox.

The show, which began in South Korea, features celebrities singing songs while wearing costumes and face masks concealing their identities until they’re eliminated. Throughout the season, the contestants provide clues to try and help the judges and fans figure out who is under the mask.
