Jeannie Epper, the peerless, fearless stunt performer who doubled for Lynda Carter on Wonder Woman and swung on a vine across a 350-foot gorge and propelled down an epic mudslide as Kathleen Turner in Romancing the Stone, has died. She was 83.
Epper died Sunday night of natural causes at her home in Simi Valley, her family told The Hollywood Reporter.
Just one member of a dynasty of stunt performers that Steven Spielberg dubbed the “Flying Wallendas of Film” — starting with her father, John Epper, there have been four generations of Eppers in show business since the 1930s — she worked on 150-plus films and TV shows during an astounding 70-year career.
In 2007, Epper received the first lifetime achievement honor given to a woman at the World Taurus Awards and ranks among the greatest stuntwomen of all time.

There are a lot of critical details for the American space program to work out before a manned mission to Mars can possibly occur, from perfecting the science to organizing logistics to securing finances and more. The element PBS‘s newest documentary sheds an extraordinary new light on is the human condition factor — chiefly, how to safely separate a person from everyone and everything they love for the years upon years it’ll take to complete the mission. In Space: The Longest Goodbye, directed by Ido Mizrahy and premiering on PBS tonight, May 6, at 10/9c, it’s clear that NASA has to do much more than just crunch numbers to make any Mars adventure a reality. The documentary features testimonials from former and current astronauts as well as the agency’s resident psychologist, Dr. Al Holland, who is charged with finding a solution for keeping astronauts sane and productive while...

If there’s any truth to the old adage that history happens first as tragedy and then as farce, it was fitting that years of media sniping and public relitigation of the New England Patriots’ six Super Bowl wins culminated in Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and Robert Kraft doing shots together at a Netflix comedy festival.
When 9,100 fans made the trek to Los Angeles’ Kia Forum for “The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady” (stylized as “The G.R.O.A.T”), they likely expected the mix of vicious insult comedy and cringe-inducing rebuttals that powered years of Comedy Central roasts. The event, which was part of the sprawling Netflix Is a Joke Festival and broadcasted live on the streaming service, offered those up in droves. Host Kevin Hart emceed a three-hour showcase of unfiltered comedic venom from a mix of A-list celebrities, NFL greats, and longtime roast staples...

Warner Bros. Discovery is staying on the sidelines of the Paramount Global acquisition drama — at least for now. That was the signal sent Monday by WB Discovery CEO David Zaslav during his appearance at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Beverly Hills.

Zaslav came in for criticism last week when his 2023 comp package of about $49 million was disclosed after...

From the moment the very first trailer for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Heeramandi” on Netflix arrived, it’s become increasingly difficult to ignore that a certain type of Indian actress has passed into extinction.
Since the dawn of Indian cinema, music and dance have been integral to the movie-going experience, with extra emphasis placed on the “heroine” — a leading lady who could not only carry a whole film as an actor, but also captivate the audience as a graceful, expressive dancer. Think of Hollywood corollaries like Judy Garland, Ginger Rogers, Doris Day — but if they were working well into the late 20th and even 21st century. It’s inherently wrapped up in India’s history of folk dance, which is always present at festivals or celebrations; and classical dance, which requires extensive training and was often a precursor to entering beauty pageants and the film industry. This is not the documentary renaissance we hoped for. Despite its 2023 Oscar win for “Navalny,” CNN pulled back on non-fiction production. Non-fiction programming at Showtime Networks, which produced Oscar-nominated “Attica” in 2022, is no more.

At that moment, it seemed the will-they-won’t-they couple of the century was officially over until Ross got home and played a voicemail from Rachel. She was devastated by how they left things and admitted she still had feelings for him. As they bubbled up inside of her, she became desperate to get off the plane to be with him, much to the chagrin of a bothered flight attendant. “I feel nervous about telling you. I feel like you’re the confessor to this,” Maher told Seinfeld, “but after this year, I’m going to stop doing [standup].”
Maher was quick to give himself an out. “I could go back. I don’t want to make, like, a big announcement or something,” he cautioned. “I mean, I’m doing a special at the end of the year. It’ll be my 13th for HBO. That’s a lot.”
Seinfeld seemed surprised by the news, but would ultimately tell Maher the idea was “not crazy” after hearing the full reasoning.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for The Sympathizer Season 1 Episode 4, “Give Us Some Good Lines.”] The Sympathizer Episode 4 is one of the best episodes of 2024 so far. The episode breaks form from its previous installments and plants the Captain (Hoa Xuande), a double agent pretending to be loyal to the Southern Vietnamese cause and its CIA allies, on the set of an American-made Vietnam War movie directed by Nikos Damianos (the fourth of Robert Downey Jr.‘s characters). The Captain was hired as the cultural consultant for The Hamlet, a noteworthy section of Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. As the man in charge of representing the Vietnamese community, the Captain was in a unique position to both witness the racist depiction of Vietnamese people in this film and do something about it. What resulted in the making of this Apocalypse Now-style movie was a meta commentary that criticizes how Hollywood portrayed the Vietnam War...

Netflix’s star-studded roast of Tom Brady titled The Greatest Roast of All-Time: Tom Brady, might’ve earned a lot of laughs when it aired Sunday night, but by Monday morning, the cohosts of The View had nothing but jeers for the special. Ana Navarro in particular was fit to be tied about the fact that Brady’s ex-wife Gisele Bündchen was the subject of so many shots from the stage. After moderator Whoopi Goldberg noted that Brady was a “good sport” throughout the program, Navarro took issue with that assessment. “If I was getting paid what he was probably getting paid — he was an executive producer — I’d laugh at all sorts of things. But I think the person who wasn’t getting paid and ended up being part of this roast was Gisele,” Navarro said before noting a recent incident in which Bündchen was in tears during a...

When Bo Burnham released his acclaimed Netflix special Inside in 2021, it vaulted him to a new pinnacle of popularity. The guy who first made a name for himself recording irreverent songs in his childhood bedroom for YouTube had come a long way: Inside won Burnham a Peabody and single-handedly got him halfway to an Egot.
But the themes explored in Inside have popped up in Burnham’s work from the beginning, from those early parodic tunes to his 2018 feature debut Eighth Grade. Burnham has always had more on his mind than raunchy puns. He has always been preoccupied by the ways the internet and social media have changed us — especially a younger generation increasingly living their lives on camera, thrust into the spotlight long before they’ve finished figuring themselves out.

Katt Williams, never afraid of being bold, declared maybe his boldest mission yet in Katt Williams: Woke Foke. “I don’t just tell Black secrets,” he warned the crowd at one point during his new Netflix comedy special, which streamed live on May 4 as part of Netflix Is a Joke Fest. “I tell white secrets, too. ’Cause we’re all family.”
He meant it. The King of Underground Comedy shared his sharp, pointed observations and lessons in his trademark rapid-fire style. Arriving on stage at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California, wearing a custom Woke Foke medallion necklace, he went after just about everyone and everything: why being “woke” itself is hardly bad, (toxic) masculinity, the “Illuminati,” Trump, Biden, Ron DeSantis, Nick Cannon, Jamie Foxx, Oprah, Ozempic — naming names and (literally) showing pictures, at least when he didn’t look desperate to catch a breath between all the curveball punchlines.

William Shatner recently told Canadian Press that he wouldn’t rule out returning as Captain Kirk in a new “Star Trek” project if the script impressed him. While the actor’s age might pose an issue as Shatner turned 93 years old in March, that’s nothing a bit of de-aging technology couldn’t fix.
“It’s an intriguing idea,” Shatner said about returning as Kirk. “It’s almost impossible. But if was a great role and so well-written and if there were a reason to be there not just to make a cameo appearance, but if there were a genuine reason for the character appearing,...

For the 1 billion people on the planet with disabilities, access is essential for inclusion. If a disabled person cannot reliably use public transportation, go to school, easily navigate a store, work, or be comfortably seated at a restaurant, then their life is much smaller than it should be — and the rest of society is diminished, too. The same is true of the digital world and the communities within it, which is the focus of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, taking place this year on May 16.
Storytelling also benefits from increased access and inclusion. The wide range of experiences seen on screen can provide insight and perspective and prompt deeper conversations around more diversity Irl.

Comedian and long-time television personality Joy Behar has been opening up about her family history and how it shaped her personality and on-screen persona. The View co-host appeared on the show’s spinoff podcast, Behind The Table, where she spoke to executive producer Brian Teta about her long career and ability to get away with saying things most cannot. “You’re famously blunt,” Teta told the Daytime Emmy Award winner, per Closer. Behar, however, had a different perspective, quipping, “I would say tactless better than blunt.” She revealed she learned to be that way from her Aunt Rose, explaining, “As my aunt would say, ‘I tell the truth no matter who I may offend’… But no, I do have my limits on what I will say to people. I keep my mouth shut when I have to. It’s amazing how much I get away with. Why is that?” Teta...

Yellowstone star Kevin Costner has said he would consider working with the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, again despite reports of conflict. The Emmy-winning actor recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about his latest film, Horizon: An American Saga, where he shared an update on his relationship with Sheridan. “No, we haven’t [talked],” Costner said, referencing his involvement in Yellowstone‘s final episodes. Costner, who played the lead role of John Dutton on the hit neo-Western drama, previously left the series amid a rumored falling out with Sheridan over salary and scheduling. The two-time Oscar winner’s four-part film series, Horizon: An American Saga, was said to be a major sticking point. Back in March, it was reported that Costner wanted back in for the final season, even if only in a cameo role. However, Puck‘s Matthew Belloni claimed “no discussions” had taken place about the actor’s return, as...

John Mulaney Presents Everybody’s in L.A. proved to be very much a late-night styled talk show in its live premiere Friday night on Netflix. Now like any good late night show, the six-episode miniseries is revealing its lineup for the coming week—and, as promised, it’s a doozy.
Leading things off tonight (and explaining this week’s Daily Show scheduling switcheroo) is none other than Jon Stewart. Stewart, like most of Mulaney’s guests this week, is in Los Angeles for the Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival. He performed over the weekend at L.A.’s Greek Theatre.
Other guests sitting down with Mulaney later in the week include Nate Bargatze, Sarah Silverman, David Letterman, Bill Hader, Rony Chieng, and Hannah Gadsby.
Each night also features a musical performace, with Warren G kicking things off tonight, followed by Joyce Manor, Weezer, Los Lobos, and Beck.

Black Twitter was never a URL or an app. It was a destination that didn’t require a passport, a hopping party without a cover charge. This thriving online community influenced and dominated American culture and politics for more than a decade, and when it suddenly ended, it felt like waking from a dream.
Black Twitter: A People's History, a three-part docuseries premiering May 9 on Hulu, is based on Jason Parham’s Wired cover story “A People’s History of Black Twitter,” and director Prentice Penny does more than simply transfer Parham’s impressive work to the screen. Penny’s series is a vibrant, colorful celebration of the Black Twitter phenomenon that simultaneously maintains a funereal atmosphere as Black Twitter is laid to rest, but true to Black culture, Penny treats this significant loss as an opportunity to unite and rejoice. The series is Black Twitter’s homecoming.

Shark Tank aired its Season 15 finale on Friday, May 3, which saw Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s son, Patrick Schwarzenegger, with his mother, Maria Shriver, pitching their protein bar business, Mosh. The mother and son asked the investors for $500,000 for a 2% stake in their company, which aims to “create a conversation about brain health through food, education, research, and providing the tools for a “mindstyle” lifestyle.” In addition, the product is said to aid in funding gender-based Alzheimer’s research at the Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement at the Cleveland Clinic. After presenting their pitch to Mark Cuban, Robert Herjavec, Barbara Corcoran, Lori Greiner, Daymond John, and Kevin O’Leary, Greiner appeared the most interested in making a deal. The “Queen of QVC” opened the negotiations with a $500,000 offer for a 6% stake in the company. Patrick tried to counter, offering a 3.5% stake, but Greiner turned it down, offering 5%.
