Starring Channing Tatum as an experienced stripper who takes a young prodigy (Alex Pettyfer) under his shirtless wing, Magic Mike (Tatum’s own mainstream version of Soderbergh’s Girlfriend Experience) features Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer, Kevin Nash, Cody Horn and Olivia Munn.
In the film, “True Blood” star Joe Manganiello plays a man with the humble name of “Big Dick Richie,”a member of a near nude entourage led by McConaughey’s character Dallas. Let’s just say if you’re looking to see Manganiello show off his classically trained actor chops, you should look elsewhere.
I sat down with Manganiello to discuss the crazy set atmosphere, the fun of wearing a fireman suit, and the new hardcore levels he’s about to reach on HBO’s “True Blood.”

Matthew McConaughey is used to being shirtless in his films, but the star had to take things one step further for his new role in "Magic Mike": He had to manscape.
"Everybody got manscaped to some extent," McConaughey told Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" this week. "Let me tell you about this experience. If you don't have to do it, don't ever do this. It was like 7.30 in the morning, I go down there, we're in Hollywood, and I go to this little place in the strip mall. And the place is called 'Smile.' There's this Russian woman in there, and she's just as formal as you could be."
Unfortunately for McConaughey, it all went downhill from there.
"She's pouring this glue and stuff all over you and you're sitting there and you're giggling and all the sudden she lays something on you and just [tears it off] and it hurts,...

The buzz is all about Tom Cruise as the reptilian, Jim Morrison-esque rock star Stacee Jaxx. Cruise is eerily real as a specific kind of top dog who has had every wish granted and every appetite fulfilled as lead singer of the classic rockers Arsenal. It.s a seminal moment as we meet him. His band will play its last gig together at the Bourbon (a thinly disguised Whiskey Los Angeles. leading rock palace), before embarking on a solo career. It is 1987, hair rock time. Meanwhile a young, naïve, blonde (Julianne Hough) in denim and gingham, intent on grabbing the Hollywood dream, alights from a bus, beaming that she has reached her mecca. Her luggage is stolen almost...

Holograms of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors frontman Jim Morrison are in development. The respective estates of each artist have revealed plans to work on recreating the deceased stars' images for live tours and experiences. Jeff Jampol, who manages the estate of Morrison, admitted that he has been exploring the idea of creating a 3D hologram of the star over the past decade. He told Billboard: "Hopefully, 'Jim Morrison' will be able to walk right up to you, look you in the eye, sing right at you and then turn around and walk away." Meanwhile, Hendrix's sister Janie is known to be working with a London-based (more)...

Following in the faux footsteps of Tupac, Elvis Presley and (sort of) Freddie Mercury, the estates of other deceased legends like Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix are lining up to bring the artists back to the stage ... in hologram form.
In a new interview with Billboard, Doors manager (and Morrison estate-minder) Jeff Jampol said he hopes to create a "multimedia experience" featuring "lasers, lights, high-quality sound, vibrations [and] projected imagery," not to mention the band — and Morrison (who died in 1971) — in 3-D.
"We're trying to get to the point where 3-D characters will walk around," Jampol said, adding that he's been exploring the idea for nearly eight years with British director Jake Nava. "Hopefully, 'Jim Morrison' will be...

Fulfilling a trajectory set in motion the moment Tupac.0 appeared on a Coachella stage, promising a bright new future of exploiting dead people, Billboard reports that both The Doors' Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix are being readied for their own holographic resurrections. Tom takes on his most fun and unique role yet as Stacee Jaxx in the new movie musical 'Rock of Ages,' opening June 15. The iconic actor delivers his best Axl Rose-meets-David Lee Roth (with a hint of Jim Morrison) rock god tribute — and when the Academy Awards come around, he should be awarded with a golden statue. Regardless of whether or not you've seen the original Rock of Ages musical on Broadway, Tom Cruise probably seemed like a weird choice to play '80s rocker Stacee Jaxx in the show's film adaptation. Stacee is a womanizing, drinking rock god with a heart of mold and filth that in no way matches any characteristics of Tom whatsoever. But for all those who thought Tom couldn't do the part justice — including myself — I am glad to say we were all wrong! I won't be reviewing the film here,...

Taylor Hawkins has a lust for life.
The Foo Fighters drummer is preparing to get shirtless (a lot) as he signs on for the role of legendary punk rocker Iggy Pop in "Cbgb," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Iggy Pop was the frontman of Iggy Pop and the Stooges, one of the most influential punk bands from the late '68s through the mid-'70s with hits such as "I Wanna Be Your Dog" and "Search and Destroy." Iggy was infamous for his antagonistic and outrageous stage antics (which were inspired by Doors lead singer Jim Morrison) and is considered the first performer to ever do a "stage dive."
Taylor Hawkins is just one of many new additions to the "Cbgb" cast, with recent hit-makers including Johnny Galecki as music manager Terry Ork, Mickey Sumner as Patti Smith, Steven Schub as Dee Dee Ramone, Evan Alex Cole as Richard Hell,...

Wow. There have been musical biopics where the actor looks a lot like the musician they.ve chosen to play. Gary Busey in The Buddy Holly Story or Val Kilmer playing Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone.s The Doors immediately come to mind. But now that we.ve seen leaked photos of Andre 3000 as Jimi Hendrix on the set of the pending biopic, the bar has been raised . high. Nebraska's Tyler Gold -- or the man formerly known as Tyler Gold -- may not have known about that whole dinosaur gas thing before he officially changed his name to "Tyrannosaurus Rex" on Monday (May 7).
According to Gold, Tyrannosaurus Rex -- which means "tyrant Lizard King" (so as not to be confused with Jim Morrison) -- is way cooler than his old name.
"Also, as an entrepreneur, name recognition is important and the new name is more recognizable," said Rex in his official court filing, as reported by Nebraska's local New York Times.
After promising a judge that he wasn't changing his moniker to dodge creditors or criminal charges, Gold's name was officially changed to "Tyrannosaurus Rex Joseph Gold."
We'll remember that. And the gas thing.

The Rolling Stones are no strangers to film, be it powerful uses of their music in the films of Martin Scorsese, Stanley Kubrick, and Terry Gilliam, or their own presence in, among others, Gimme Shelter and Jean-Luc Godard‘s essay-like Sympathy for the Devil. Only thirty-six at the time of his death from cancer in 1981, many of his fans weren’t even born when he died, but that hasn’t stopped a generation from connecting to the message of musician Bob Marley. Marley has basically become the kind of icon to today’s youth that Jim Morrison was a couple of decades ago. They wear T shirts and backpacks which feature Marley smoking a ridiculously exaggerated joint that unfortunately now forms the basis of his cultural significance rather than his music, but the new documentary Marley remedies that, giving us an in-depth portrait of the man behind the image. Bob Marley’s many fans all over the world should appreciate this long and thorough documentary that’s the final word on the pioneering reggae artist. So, that Tupac hologram. Wild, right? That's the typically baffled response to the news that the long-dead ‘Pac appeared alongside Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg at Coachella, and that Dre is now brainstorming a way to send virtual Tupac on tour. And if this pays off, you just know that promoters will be looking to send more dead performers on the road. But which apparitions have the potential to sell the most tickets? To find out, we called up Jeff Jampol, whose Jam Inc. manages the estates of such late singers as Rick James, Jim Morrison, and Janis Joplin, among others. Here's his list of the ghosts who should start putting their riders together. (Only Cristal formaldehyde!)* *The original version of this slide show had the year of Elvis's death wrong.

What would a biopic of Italy's former prime minister look like? Surely there's only one man who can play the lead
It had all the makings of the greatest film ever made; one part Citizen Kane to three parts Girls Gone Wild on Tour. That's right: the Silvio Berlusconi biopic. Needless to say, the Berlusconi story is dripping with blockbuster potential – there's money, power, sex, corruption, sex, cruise ship singing, more sex and a bit where our hero gets smacked around the head with a little metal church. In the right hands, a Berlusconi biopic could be a genuinely compelling watch.
Tragically, though, it may never happen. Depsite reports in the Italian and Us press that Berlusconi was planning to produce his own film, his spokesman has denied it to our man in Rome. But there's no way we can ignore the thought of what might materialise if Berlusconi did...

Yes, he was born and raised in Hollywood, but Val Kilmer has a distinctly outsider perspective on the inner workings of show business -- an impressive feat of avoidance and sometimes alienation, considering that he's the guy with a résumé of iconic roles. He's Iceman, Jim Morrison, Doc Holliday, Batman and Moses, but he's also the edgy, allegedly prickly guy who for so long lived not in the Hills but the flatlands of New Mexico. Kilmer knows this; he knows what people say, is aware of the perceptions and rumors about his at times offbeat way of life. But again, for

The official trailer for On The Road has been released. The film is based on the novel by American writer Jack Kerouac, a largely autobiographical work that was based on his spontaneous road trips across mid-century America. It is often considered a defining work of the postwar beat generation that has been a huge influence on many poets, writers, actors and musicians, including Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Jim Morrison, Hunter S. Thompson, and many more. The film is directed by Walter Salles and stars Sam Riley as Sal Paradise and Garrett Hedlund as Dean Moriarty.

Do we have any beatniks in the audience? If so, prepare to either rejoice or cry.
After years of doomed attempts and false starts, Jack Kerouac's On the Road has finally been adapted to film, courtesy of director Walter Salles and screenwriter Jose Rivera.
One of the seminal books of the Beat Generation, On the Road has long been considered one of the great unfilmable novels. Of course, now that movies have been made out of the other two defining works of the Beat movement — Howl and Naked Lunch — also believed unfilmable, I suppose it's only right that the holy grail of hipsters get its own shot at cinematic immortality.
Of course, one of the reasons the films of Naked Lunch and Howl work as well as they do is because the filmmakers did not approach them as straight-ahead adaptations. And while it looks as if Salles and Rivera did somewhat the same here,...

8:00Pm: Those joining The Vampire Diaries PaleyFest Panel via Livestream are forced to wait a few minutes while the participants — including Executive Producer Julie Plec, actors Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert), Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore), Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore), Candice Accola (Caroline Forbes), Matthew Davis (Alaric Saltzman), Kat Graham (Bonnie Bennett) and moderator Debra Birnbaum (TV Guide Magazine) — dish on “1912,” the Alaric-heavy episode that just finished screening. D’oh.
8:02Pm: “We haven’t seen the last of the Originals,” teases Plec, before Candice Accola offers up her take on the increasingly interesting relationship between her character Caroline and Joseph Morgan’s Klaus. “Everyone’s excited about that whole relationship, but people seem to forget that Klaus’ hobby is murder and their entire relationship is based on manipulation. Talk about a terrible match.com profile.” Adds Somerhalder, “Aren’t all relationship based on manipulation.”
8:05Pm: “There’s nothing better...

From the ferocious world of heavy metal to the Southern rock cats with that blues influence all the way to the puzzling UK hip hop scene, behold my choices for the best beards in music today. No matter what your significant other tells you, beards are cool. Combining enough glorious facial hair with the ability to rock one's ass off and you have accumulated enough credit onto your Mancard that you can do pretty much whatever the hell you want and get away with it. Although John Lennon, Jim Morrison and even Dimebag Darrell were all considered at one point, they were excluded on this list to include musicians still alive and performing to this day. #10. Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys) The frontman and guitarist for one of the best rock outfits currently on the planet not only sounds...

"Mama Said There'd Be Decades Like This" was the single best episode of season two. The performances here, the surprise appearances, the deep, moving story... they all delivered one heck of a ride.
This wasn't a week where we had to watch our characters struggle with their addiction, but rather with their feelings of love and abandonment. As parents and children. Realizing the decisions they make in that regard will affect everything they do and who they are for the remainder of their so-called lives. Lives that, as we know, can be never ending.
Josh and Nora Are In the Eye of The Storm
It didn't take long for the police to put Nora and Will together and to start to question Josh about his possible involvement. How they figured someone was capable of tearing a man to pieces like a giant rabid dog is beside the point. They were going to try.
