“How to Get to Heaven From Belfast,” the new series from “Derry Girls” creator Lisa McGee, has moved to Netflix from Channel 4.
Produced by Hat Trick Productions, the comedy thriller will start shooting in Northern Ireland later this year.
The project was announced by Channel 4 in August 2023. In a statement to Variety, the network cited “changes in editorial direction” and “rising costs” as to why the series could no longer move forward there.
“We loved Lisa McGee’s ‘How to Get to Heaven From Belfast’ and offered a substantial license fee to be its U.K. home,” a Channel 4 spokesperson said. “Unfortunately due to changes in editorial direction as the development process progressed, coupled with rising costs and the recent cooling in the U.S. co-production market, it became impossible to get the right international partner and funding plan in place. Incorporated was quietly canceled on Syfy today.
The series about a future run by corporations giving them unlimited power and a man from a poor background (Sean Teale) who infiltrated their world in an attempt to save his childhood love.
Incorporated was pulling in about 500k viewers per week, well below series such as The Magicians and The Expanse.
Syfy has other series on tap, including Krypton and The Haunted and recently ordered two more seasons of its incredible horror anthology series Channel Zero.
If you've been waiting for CBS All Access' Star Trek: Discovery, prepare to wait a bit longer.
CBS Chief Les Moonves was at a business conference when he shared the news the upcoming Star Trek series would fly "sometime late summer early fall...probably."
Of course, it's not the first time we've been given a timeline for the new series, but perhaps this will the winner.

For those of you who've already binge-watched the entirety of Sky Atlantic's Fortitude series 2, here's our spoiler-filled review...
This review contains spoilers.
See related Trespass Against Us trailer, with Michael Fassbender Justin Kurzel interview: Macbeth, Breaking Bad, Snowtown
When Fortitude arrived on our screens in 2015, it did so floating on a sea of publicity. Millions were spent announcing the arrival of Sky’s newest pitch at offering original drama to sit alongside its impressive roster of Us imports. Polar bears appeared at tube stations and posters of its snowbound stars, among them such luminaries as Michael Gambon, Sofie Gråbøl, Christopher Ecclestone and Stanley Tucci, appeared in hoardings both online and in the real world. The campaign caught attention but remained abstract, leaving little clue as to what the show was actually about.
The marketers can be forgiven for this approach, as the show itself seemed uncertain.

Just when you thought Fortitude couldn’t get any stranger, episode 4 of series two takes things to new levels. An eyeless man stalking the town, a new Shaman in town and gravedigging all adding up to bring all the mysteries together, with a dose of Russian conspiracy just to add to the drama.
After the events of last episode, we are treated to an explanation as to what has been going on with the wild animals, at least the reindeer which was discovered being experimented on. Seemingly used to create a drug (in the form of the so-called reindeer juice) this discovery also reveals the man, who will probably be the prime suspect, though we still don’t know who he is just yet. What also is discovered is more details...

We’re now three episodes in to Fortitude‘s second series and there is one thing we can be sure of: any semblance of normality has now been lost… With characters that were seemingly at death’s door now waking up, and people being decapitated, it seems that answers to what is going on may be being revealed.
The problem with this is though, there may be clues but no definite answer. A hint does seem to be in the tests Dr Sarinda Khatri (Paraminder Nagra) is doing on a comatose patient that don’t seem to be ethical. Especially when her prognosis of the patient being beyond waking up doesn’t seem to be the truth. Hildur Odegard (Sofie Gråbøl) now seemingly ousted from her job as governor also takes...

In the first episode of Fortitude‘s second series we were given the groundwork for what we can expect in this latest chapter of the story of the “safest place on Earth.” Hardly safe though, we seem to have a story of cannibals and demons, and with a missing head still somewhere in the town, what other secrets will episode two reveal?
One of the most interesting things we find in this episode is that Dr. Sarinda Khatri (Parminder Nagra) is still experimenting with one of the wasps which caused so many problems in the first season. Now that the sheriff is back though, the investigations as to who the headless man is are making some progress. With Michael Lennox (Dennis Quaid) trying to salvage his boat and his livelihood, it...

Life looks pretty good for Sandy Duffy. Twenty years ago he wrote smash hit novel A Patch of Fog and has been reaping the benefits ever since. The book has bought him a swanky pad in a trendy part of town, a satisfying day job as a creative writing lecturer, a weekly TV spot as a culture critic (complete with a secret relationship with the show’s host), and respect and admiration from all and sundry.
There are only a couple of flies in the ointment. His publisher is pressuring him to do a 20th-anniversary interview tour of a book Duffy is sick of hearing and talking about. Somewhere along the way he’s also developed a nasty case of kleptomania: idly wandering the aisles of department stores, slipping small cheap items into his pocket and relishing the thrill of getting away with something.
Until, of course, he doesn’t get away with it.

While the Toronto International Film Festival looks around the world and in all genres to find features for its annual incarnation, one area that receives focus is films aimed at children. With the understanding both that quality cinema is not dependent on its target audience, and that cinephiles can begin at any age, the festival’s Kids Programme highlights such features.
The Discovery Programme, on the other hand, brings together films from first and second time directors, with an eye on emerging talent. The festival has now announced the lineups for both Programmes in the 2015 incarnation of the event, along with further additions to the Cinematheque and Vanguard lineup. The Discovery lineup joins previously announced Canadian features. The films, with their official synopses, can be seen below.

Strangely dropping a press release on a historic day where the nation's attention is elsewhere, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed their annual list of new member invitees this morning. For those who criticize the makeup of the Academy there was some good news and the stark realization the organization still has a long way to go. The Academy has spent the last eight to 10 years attempting to diversify its membership and this year's class mostly reflects that. There are significantly more invitees of Asian and African-American descent, but the male to female disparity is still depressing. Out of the 25 potential new members of the Actor's Branch only seven are women. And, no, there isn't really an acceptable way for the Academy to spin that sad fact. Additionally, It's important to realize the 322 people noted in the release have only been invited to join Hollywood's most exclusive club.

A memorable 87th annual Academy Awards for Fox Searchlight saw Birdman claim best film, director and two other statuettes to tie with The Grand Budapest Hotel’s four-strong haul.
Boyhood, which entered the evening on six nominations and had been expected to push Birdman in several of the senior categories on Sunday night, won a sole best supporting actress for Patricia Arquette.
The film’s time in the Oscar ceremony spotlight will not be forgotten, however, as Arquette paid tribute to her “Boyhood family” and made an impassioned plea for wage equality that spread like wildfire across social media.
Eddie Redmayne from The Theory Of Everything prevailed in a tight best actor contest to deny Michael Keaton another success for Birdman. The popular victory had the British actor jumping with excitement on stage at the Dolby Theatre.

Show host Harris signs off with a chirpy, “Buenos noches!”
Sean Penn walks on. It’s time for the big one. Best film. Will it be Birdman or Boyhood? It’s Birdman! The movie ends the night tied with The Grand Budapest Hotel on four Oscars. Inarritu, referring to his pal Alfonso Cuaron who enjoyed success with Gravity at last year’s show, says, “Two Mexicans in a row. That’s suspicious, I guess.” Slightly more seriously, Agi also calls on his fellow Mexicans to help build a strong future for his beloved country. Wow, a good night for Birdman and a surprisingly barren one for Boyhood. Pirates indeed, Ethan Hawke, but glorious pirates.

When the first Academy Awards were handed out on May 16, 1929, at an Academy banquet in the Blossom Room of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, movies had just begun to talk. The attendance was 270 and guest tickets cost $5. It was a long banquet, filled with speeches, but presentation of the statuettes was handled expeditiously by Academy President Douglas Fairbanks.
The suspense that now touches most of the world at Oscar time was not always a characteristic of the Awards presentation. That first year, the award recipients were announced to the public three months ahead of the ceremony.
Today, Oscar pundits and fans alike avidly watch the precursor and guild awards to ultimately make their predictions in the 24 categories. Academy members have cast their ballots, so now it’s our turn for our Oscar picks.

Oscar Week 2015 has arrived. The week kicked off with the filmmakers of the Oscar nominated short films.
Actor Sean Astin hosted the Academy’s “Oscar Celebrates: Shorts” event on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
Astin was a perfect choice. His short film Kangaroo Court was nominated for an Oscar back in 1995, and its quite obvious he has a passion for the genre.
He spoke about what it was like when he was nominated in that category and being excited about the possibility of winning (It was actually a tie between 2 shorts that year, and his film was not one of them). Said Astin wryly, “I told myself we probably came in 3rd.”
He was very engaging in Q&A panel and asked the perfect smart and brief questions to keep things moving along.
