Elvis Presley‘s “If I Can Dream” isn’t just a stunning song. It’s a stunning song that changed the entire arc of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll‘s career. In retrospect, Priscilla Presley called the song “a blessing.”
Elvis Presley’s ‘Bossa Nova Baby’ and ‘If I Can Dream’ bookended a bad era
Elvis’ “Bossa Nova Baby” is not one of his most famous songs today. It should be more remembered today because its release was a serious demarcation point in his career. The Billboard Book of Number 1 Hits says it reached No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963. Afterward, Elvis wouldn’t have a top 10 single for five-and-a-half years, save for a cover of the religious song “Crying in the Chapel.”

AMC may have another Walking Dead-sized hit on its hands with graphic novel adaptation Preacher – or at least that was the impression out of SXSW, where the pilot screened to rapturous praise.
The series isn’t premiering until May, but stars Dominic Cooper and Ruth Negga were among those in attendance at a WonderCon panel for the show, where AMC unveiled the striking, unnerving first look at Ian Colletti’s take on Eugene “Arseface” Root, one of the comic’s most distinctive figures.
In the original comic, created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon in 1995, Eugene was a young boy whose failed suicide attempt left him with a horrifically disfigured face. Despite his unfortunate circumstances, the boy retained a sunny, kind disposition, and idolized local preacher Jesse Custer (Cooper), though a past transgression left him convinced that God had turned against him.

With exactly one month to go until its theatrical release, Warner Bros. has pumped out the latest TV spot for Scott Cooper’s Whitey Bulger crime drama Black Mass, showcasing style, crime, and a performance that could mark a return to form for Johnny Depp.
Assuming the role of the infamous Bulger, Black Mass will have Depp play the sociopath who ruled Boston from the shadows, simultaneously operating as a FBI informant and pulling the strings in the city’s criminal underbelly. Even before today’s sneak peek, the first trailers for Cooper’s drama hint at a deep and complex role for the Hollywood A-lister, and the film harbors all the dramatic potential for Depp to sink his teeth into the meaty role. Sporting a hair piece and dental prosthetics, The Pirates of the Caribbean stalwart is nearly unrecognizable in the lead role, and we’re excited to see...

If you have played The Last of Us on Playstation 3 it has likely ruined video gaming for you. The world created is so vivid and believable that every game afterward just feels dated and empty.
Throughout, The Last of Us is unwaveringly real, full of seemingly inconsequential details such as every weapon or object you carry being attached or able to fit into your character’s backpack. Contrast this with Grand Theft Auto V where a rocket launcher appears out of your trouser pocket and it’s clear that if game developers really want to create a living, breathing parallel to reality they need to treat it as reality – no short cuts.
Actor Troy Baker who motion-capped and provided the voice for The Last of Us’ main protagonist Joel.

"Daddy Issues" brought Body of Proof full circle, as Megan Hunt finally got answers concerning her father's death... and made some decisions about her future.
There was plenty to enjoy in this hour. Megan was finally able to exhume her father's remains, only to find they weren't there. That was the moment I knew that whatever happened to David Hunt, his wife wasn't involved.
I had always wondered why Joan fought so vehemently to keep the details surrounding her husband's death a secret. But I suppose it was simply the guil of a grieving widow who believed she should have seen the signs in her supposedly suicidal husband.
When Joan heard that his body had gone missing, she was truly shocked and finally understood that Megan's suspicions were correct. It was quite the turn around from the anger she'd been exuding over Megan's investigation.
Tommy certainly stepped up his game.

Denise O’Lear (Michele Nordin) goes to Sam and Michael for help when her ex-husband, John, fails to drop off their asthmatic son as scheduled. With family issues at stake, Michael decides to approach John directly, telling him the truth about who he is and that Denise sent him.
A former soldier, John was suspicious of Michael right away. He pulled a gun on Michael and fled with Tommy to a well fortified militia compound. Michael tried to set up another meeting with John, but he was rebuffed by the militia’s more radical leader, Zechariah (W. Earl Brown). Next, having sabotaged the compound’s fuel supply, Fiona tried to hide under a new fuel truck headed into the compound. Unfortunately, the compound was equipped with satellite technology that allowed the militia men to learn Michael and friends’ plans by listening in on their cell phone conversations.

I thought I'd share a few of my adventures at the Nashville Film Festival whilst practicing on my wacom tablet -- so hard to get the hang of this, the wacom not the Nashville. (I've been to the Nashville Festival a couple of times so I think I have the hang of it now.) I arrived in my Herzog tee -- I always live in mortal fear that some Herzog freak will grill me about good ol' Werner since I probably don't know as much about him as I should given the human advertisement aspects of t-shirt wearing. My favorites are Grizzly Man and Aguirre the Wrath of God and Nosferatu but Werner is prolific so I can't say I've seen everything.
The jurors and guests of the festival stay in downtown Nashville where you can get to the touristy parts quick but the festival is actually at a multiplex called Regal Green Hill.

They may not have been bathed in smoky green lasers like Adam Lambert, but former "American Idol" finalist Brooke White and underwear model/ Miley Cyrus ex Justin Gaston had some simmering chemistry on their side on Wednesday night, when they performed a duet on the elimination show that served as the finale for Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens.
Gaston, 21, a former contestant on "Nashville Star" and current participant in the Web series "If I Can Dream," brought his smoldering good looks to the performance of the Elvis Presley ballad also called "If I Can Dream."
The performance began with White, season seven's fifth-place finisher, seated at a grand piano trading lines with Gaston, who gently strummed an acoustic guitar,...
