When it rains, it pours: Screen International brings word that Ray Winstone, Johnny Harris, Michael Smiley and Paul Weller are primed to weigh into the ring for a new, yet-to-be-titled boxing drama. It’s the development in a long line of genre films, following in the footsteps of the soon-to-be-released Creed, Hands Of Stone, Chuck Wepner biopic The Bleeder and Miles Teller’s Bleed For This.
Yes, the boxing drama is very much in vogue once again in Hollywood circles, and this time it’s Thomas Napper stepping behind the lens to helm the aforementioned cast. It’ll herald the filmmaker’s directorial debut, too, having carved out a niche for working as second unit director on the likes of Anna Karenina, The Woods and many more.
Penned by Johnny Harris himself, Napper’s untitled boxing flick is loosely based on the actor’s own sparring experiences of yesteryear. He...

‘When It Rains’ is an old story: a spiky, unpleasant person learns to accept help and to open up to those around them. It’s a little shopworn, a little canned, but it’s still a pleasant quarter hour and a successful about-face for a character who looked headed for ineffectual Saturday Morning Cartoon villainy. If it has a real weakness it’s not that its story has been told before but that it can’t let its moments land without indulging in its own preciousness. Moments like Steven posing after Garnet tells him that she loves him turn the organic into the contrived, though a prostrate Steven reaching automatically for Peridot’s hand after the two fall off a cliff is a great example of how emotionally deft the show can be at its best.

When it rains, it pours — and Kaitlyn Bristowe is still in the midst of a thunderstorm. This week began with (former?) frontrunner Shawn confronting The Bachelorette about her true feelings. "Are you in love with me?" he asked point-blank. Kaitlyn's response, however, was less straightforward. "You can't put me on the spot like that," she argued before quickly adding, "I'm falling in love with you." Shawn seemed to get over it, at least temporarily, because about one minute later they were making out again. "I am concerned that [...]...

Look, nothing is going to replace Made in Chelsea in our hearts - obviously - but Taking New York seems to be doing a mighty fine job of filling the gap while we wait for more from Spenny, Jamie, Lucy, Louise et al.
The show - which, by the way, is so stylish - got off to a little bit of a slow start, but that's only to be expected when you're introducing a whole new cast of characters. By the end of the episode, we were hooked on the rows and the romantic awkwardness and the general drama, and we can't wait to find out what will happen next. When it rains, it pours. We have heard a lot about The Fantastic Four this week, and while none of it is what we want to be sharing (a poster, a trailer, an official image, a synopsis), the Josh Trank directed movie just keeps popping up in the news. Yesterday I had a thought – which I do have on occasion.
I have always considered myself a “socially conscious” comics writer. This means that, if you look over my body of work, you will notice that I have told stories that, in one way or another, reflect “real world” events and the consequences of those events on my characters. Notably, of course, in my 1986 Lois Lane mini-series about child abduction and abuse, “When It Rains, God is Crying” (coincidentally edited by ComicMix’s Robert Greenberger when we were both working for DC, he an editor and me a freelancer), but also as far back as “Moon River,” my first story in New Talent Showcase, an admittedly tyro effort to portray the outcome of a closed, dictatorial society on an individual. And of course there was “Chalk Drawings,” which I co-wrote with George Pérez for Wonder Woman, which was a story about suicide.

Beverly Hills — It was time for a victory lap for last year's Best Actor Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey as the "Interstellar" star was honored by the American Cinematheque at the Beverly Hilton's famed International Ballroom Tuesday night. A roll call of the star's leading ladies was on hand to take part in the tribute, which closed with "Interstellar" director Christopher Nolan doing the honors of presenting the hardware. Kate Hudson ("How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," "Fool's Gold"), Anne Hathaway ("Interstellar"), Jennifer Garner ("Ghosts of Girlfriends Past," "Dallas Buyers Club") and Reese Witherspoon ("Mud") all took the stage at various moments throughout the evening to tell anecdotes and present clip packages from McConaughey's early years, his romantic comedy stretch, actioners, legal dramas and, of course, the "McConaissance" of late, as it's been dubbed. When Nolan had his turn, however, he bristled a bit at that moniker. "I'm not a believer in the McConaissance,...

16-year-old Kerris Dorsey stars in Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day as Alexander's older sister Emily Cooper. As the youngest in her family, she relished the opportunity to play the older sister and to have two brothers—on-screen and off-screen. Anyone with siblings can relate to the movie.
"You have good days with your siblings and then you have bad days with your siblings," she says. "You love them so much, but sometimes they just get on your nerves."
Although Kerris says she's more introverted than her character, the two still have a lot in common. Emily catches a terrible cold right before her debut as Peter Pan in her school's play, and Kerris says she could relate to that all the time. "Once I actually went to a concert and screamed my voice out. The next day I had to be on set filming," she says.

But since her return to Bluebell, she's become the embodiment of the saying, "When it rains, it pours," since she's dating not one, but two extremely attractive, eligible bachelors. First, there's the perfect Southern gentleman, Carter Covington, who's wooing Lemon in all the traditional ways. Then, there's the hot, Latin lover, Enrique, who Lemon can't seem to resist -- even though she doesn't understand what he's saying most of the time.

When it rains, it pours, except if you're "Noah" when rain means the imminent destruction of the planet, and that your only hope for survival is an ark you built yourself and populated with a pair of every animal on Earth. Was "Noah" the first hoarding story? In any event, in Darren Aronofsky's hands, it's a tale of hubris, humanity and environmentalism, where the soil literally bleeds, fields are scorched by fire and Ray Winstone is a cult leader who doesn't believe in ambitious carpentry. With the seas getting ready to rise and give forth, a new international trailer and TV spot have landed for "Noah" and... well, it's a lot more of the same. Paramount seem to be selling a very specific vision of the movie, which is largely believed to have some funky fantastical elements to it as well. Whether or not those will survive the process is unclear,...

var brightcovevideoid = '3113893620001'; You know what they say: When it rains - or, likewise, when a Beluga whale sprays water at you - it pours. This little guy learned that the hard way - not once, but twice - when he visited China's Hangzhou Polar Ocean Park in the country's Zhejiang province. There, the youngster encountered the overzealous (or, perhaps, delightfully sassy) mammal. It was not very kind. (Watch above.) The real take-away here: Sometimes, life throws things your way, and it's not always pleasant. More importantly, there are plenty of whales in the sea, or at least at the aquarium.

When it rains, it pours. Hours after pulling its service from DirecTV following failed carriage talks with the satcaster, NBCUniversal-owned The Weather Channel announced a new initiative in its campaign to boost its status as a public utility. The company said it will start promoting new weather emergency Twitter hashtags #GotFuel, #NoFuel and #PowerLineDown established by the White House, Fema, and the Department of Energy, adding to recent efforts to rebrand as a key resource for information in the event of natural disaster and weather emergencies. TWC says its promotion of said hashtags “will enable local citizens to report important emergency information” and thus aid “survivors, first responders, Fema, Doe and utility companies” in the face of emergency. The timing isn’t coincidental. God bless my friend Corinna Lawson.
Or maybe not.
Though she did nothing wrong, and she’s totally innocent in this.
I was sitting here tonight wracking my brain while absentmindedly watching The Devil Wears Prada for the zillionth time (Meryl Streep just completely rocks as Miranda Priestley, a thinly veiled “version” of Anna Wintour of Vogue magazine) and surfing the web for ideas when I decided to check out Corinna’s column, Cliffs of Insanity, over at GeekMom.com. (Yes, I can multi-task.) Her November 15th column caught my eye, dealing as it does with a woman also close to my heart, though this woman only exists as a trademark of DC Entertainment, nee Comics.
I’m talking about Lois Lane, of course.
Corinna’s column, Lois Lane and Comic Culture, is ostensibly a review of the recently released Lois Lane: A Celebration of 75 Years, and, although I haven...

When it rains, it pours -- and after a long drought, fans thirsty for "Jurassic World" scoop are finally being satiated.
After Monday's revelation that Ty Simpkins ("Iron Man 3") is in negotiations for a role in the fourth installment of the "Jurassic Park" franchise comes news that actor Nick Robinson is also in talks for a part in the movie. Robinson, 18, would play the older brother of 12-year-old Simpkins's character.
Variety reports that Robinson, who made his feature debut last May in "The Kings of Summer," was being eyed for the role before production was briefly shut down earlier this year. The script, originally penned by "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" scribes Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa, has since undergone a rewrite by director Colin Trevorrow ("Safety Not Guaranteed") and writer Derek Connolly.

When it rains movie news, it pours. Universal announced last evening that Jurassic Park 4 would be titled Jurassic World and today here’s something really juicy – a pitch trailer for the film. Well, this isn’t actually a clip from the movie that will hit theaters on June 12th, 2015. Director Colin Trevorrow posted a cryptic comment on Twitter: Alright, Phil. We're going to give you one last chance. Keep your eyes peeled and remember, they can open doors. #JurassicWorld — Colin Trevorrow (@colintrevorrow) September 11, 2013 The ‘Phil’ is the dinosaur supervisor Phil Tippett who worked on Jurassic Park and is now working on...

Why have one action movie franchise when you can have two? Better yet, why not take on a third?
Vin Diesel isn't content just to have the "Fast & Furious" and "Riddick" franchises to his name; now, the star is adding a potential new action series, "Soldiers of the Sun," to his resume.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Diesel would produce and star in Universal's production of "Grace of Monaco" screenwriter Arash Amel's "Soldiers" script.
"Soldiers of the Sun" is set in -- where else -- a post-apocalyptic future, where a team of tough fighters is searching for a legendary city of gold, all while battling aliens called Orcs.
As THR notes, Universal hopes to launch another ensemble action franchise for Diesel similar to "Fast & Furious," the sixth installment of which grossed over $780 million worldwide.
But it may be some time before "Soldiers of the Sun" sees the light of the day.

For Thor: The Dark World, Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige dropped some interesting tidbits: I would say there’s a question of what happens when you’re now seemingly ready for...

When it rains, it pours: Goichi Suda, CEO of Grasshopper Manufacture, and director of “Killer7” and “No More Heroes,” is back in this week’s Famitsu Weekly spilling details on “Killer is Dead,” nary a week after his last outpouring.
“One thing we got to with this game is you fighting against a yakuza guy riding a tiger,” Suda explains to the mag (as transcribed by Polygon), in what’s got to be the best pull-quote of the year so far. “You’re in Kyoto, among all these old-style buildings, and Mondo is on this motorbike fighting against a yakuza on a tiger.”
Yes.
That hint of silliness has always run through Grasshopper’s games -- “No More Heroes,” “Lollipop Chainsaw,” and “Shadows of the Damned” are all good examples of that -- but Suda introduces an edge to Mondo Zappa, “Killer is Dead”’s gun-for-hire protagonist: “Mondo’s an executioner,...

From the moment Taylor arrived to the Golden Globes on Jan. 13, to the second she left, I felt horrible for her. Read on to find out why I felt like Taylor had everything fall apart around her!
When it rains, it pours for Taylor Swift. I can honestly say that I felt really sorry for the country singer on Jan. 13 because not only did she look at bit down in the dumps when she arrived solo to the Golden Globes right after her break up with Harry Styles, but she got made fun of And lost to Adele.
Taylor Looked Sad On The Red Carpet
Taylor wore an eggplant mermaid Donna Karan Atelier gown. She seemed a bit sad even though she was showing off lots of skin. This was obviously to get her ex-boyfriend Harry’s attention but she looked not like her chipper self.

When it rains, it pours for tabloid sensation Lindsay Lohan, whose tax issues reportedly are so bad the IRS seized all of her bank accounts in an attempt to secure payment for the hundreds of thousands of dollars the 26-year-old actress owes in past taxes, according to TMZ.
The celebrity site reports that the federal government has filed tax liens against Lohan for 2009 and 2010. The "Liz and Dick" star reportedly owes the IRS a total of $233,904.
The "Mean Girls" star's estranged father, Michael, told the New York Daily News that he was "very concerned" about his daughter's financial difficulties.
"Where is all her money going?" Michael Lohan said, adding that Lindsay recently made more than $100,000 to promote the new Mr. Pink energy drink. "I care about one thing: Lindsay's life," he added.
In an effort to help out the struggling actress, Charlie Sheen reportedly cut Lindsay a check for $100,000, Fox News reports.

Little Man Porter showed up a little earlier than scheduled in this week’s Revenge, but fortunately he arrived after his mom’s impromptu, stripper-filled baby shower. Also, given these preview pics, I was prepared for another all-out Jack breakdown – little did I know, we’d also see some waterworks from Nolan and I-have-no-tear-ducts Emily. But whose big emotional moment resonated the most? Read on as we review the major developments in “Intuition.”
Kara In Control | At the beginning of the episode, Emily confronts Aiden about visiting her mom, but he makes it seem like the detective alias he used...

When it rains, it pours! Priyanka Chopra definitely believes this as this week not only brought her rave reviews for her role in Barfi! but it also marked the inaugural of her first international single. Looking ravishing albeit a bit nervous in a Falguni and Shane Peacock leather dress, PC launched her single ‘In My City’ at Juhu, Mumbai yesterday a good 6 hours before it premiered at the Nfln (National Football League Network) as its theme song.
PC’s journey to this single is pretty interesting too. After Salim-Suleiman heard her sing during Pyaar Impossible, they recommended her to Devraj Sanyal (Universal Music, India). Anjula (DesiHits) then got a team together of A-list music producers like Jimmy Iovine of Interscope, Red One of 2101, and the talent manger Troy Carter of Atom Factor. With a struggle over two years with riyaaz and training her voice, ‘In My City’ with will.i.

When it rains, it pours. Just today we posted about Cee-Lo Green's voice role as Murray the Mummy in the upcoming animated film Hotel Transylvania. The singer/record producer can also currently be seen as a judge on NBC's music competition The Voice as well as in the feature film Sparkle. We've now learned that Green will make his television acting debut in a new scripted TV show for NBC, based on his real-life relationship with his ex-wife. Deadline reports that the network has signed a first-look deal with Green for the multi-camera comedy, which will be written by Ali Leroi (Everybody Hates Chris, Are We There Yet?). There hasn't been much press about the upcoming Jeff Buckley biopic Greetings from Tim Buckley, at least not since the bombshell dropped last summer about Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley playing the gone-too-soon musician. But over the weekend Badgley gave us Exhibit A in the case for why he might actually be the right pick: a live performance of a Buckley cover at the Cameo Gallery in Brooklyn.
Vulture pointed us to video footage of the show, in which Badgley performs the James Shelton song, 'Lilac Wine,' which Buckley covered on his album, Grace. We're finding the likeness pretty compelling...what do you think?
If that didn't do it for you, it may comfort you to know there are two other films based on Buckley's life in the works. When it rains biopics, it pours biopics. Listen to Buckley's version of "Lilac Wine" below.

What is the measure of success? What is the measure of failure?

And for a very long time I let my, uh, lack of success, hold me back, drag me down. That old albatross had a permanent nest on my shoulder. The Fantastic Four may have visited the Negative Zone, but, guys, I lived there.
In my mid-thirties I was divorced and living with my parents. Alix was two or three. She was sleeping in a portable crib, I was sleeping on a cot in the den.

When it rains comic book movie news, it positively pours. After being named on the directorial short list (which also reportedly included F. Gary Gray and George Nolfi) for Captain America 2, brothers Joe and Anthony Russo have apparently snagged the gig. Variety report some scant details on their exclusive, telling us that the Community directors and executive producers are “in final negotiations” to direct and that Marvel has not responded with a comment as of yet. The pair have extensive television work under their belts (including also Happy Endings and Arrested Development), along with writing and directing Welcome to Collinwood and the upcoming Ciudad (which comes from the pair’s own graphic novel). The film is set to open on April 4, 2014.
