Raquel Welch, the actor who became an icon and sex symbol thanks to films like “One Million Years B.C.” and “Three Musketeers,” died Wednesday in Los Angeles after a brief illness, her manager confirmed to Variety. She was 82.
She came onto the movie scene in 1966 with the sci-fi film “Fantastic Voyage” and the prehistoric adventure “One Million Years B.C.,” the latter of which established Welch as a sex symbol. The actor went on to appear in the controversial adaptation of Gore Vidal’s “Myra Beckrinridge,” “Kansas City Bomber” and Richard Lester’s delightful romps “The Three Musketeers” (1973), for which she won a Golden Globe, and “The Four Musketeers: Milady’s Revenge” (1974). She was one of the first women to play the lead role — not the romantic interest — in a Western, 1971 revenge tale “Hannie Caulder” — an inspiration for Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill” (2003), according to the director.

The rare drama series to focus on Latino characters — who are female and/or queer, no less — “Vida” only somewhat lives up to the color, richness and excitement maybe promised by its title (the Spanish feminine noun for “life”). Starz certainly deserves a big gracias for disrupting Hollywood’s #SoWhiteMale status with this scrappy half-hour, which showrunner Tanya Saracho has said reflects her mission to introduce “the brown queer perspective” to TV. Sporting vibrant East La La Land locations and piquant touches of magical realism, the first six episodes ultimately unfold like an arthouse-y pastiche of Showtime hits “The L Word” and “Shameless” and Netflix’s Cuban-spiced reboot of “One Day at a Time.” Meaning it’s got to find its own way if it’s going to stick around.

Actress-comedian-author Jackie Guerra has been meeting with top-level producers around town discussing a daytime talk show, sources said.
Guerra would host the project, being discussed as a possible syndicated show, sources said. Latino talent has become a big part of syndication as multiple talk show pilots this past development season featured Latina hosts, and courts shows including The People's Court, Judge Maria Lopez, Judge Alex and Cristina's Court feature Latino judges.
Guerra's reps at Rebel Entertainment Partners and Brillstein-Grey are tight-lipped about the discussions and declined comment, but Guerra is no stranger to daytime as she has made a number of appearances on The Tyra Banks Show to discuss topics including her recent weight loss; she also was developing a daytime talk show with Dick Clark Prods. in the late 1990s.
Guerra is the author of books including "Under Construction: How I've Gained and Lost Millions of Dollars and Hundreds of Pounds" and hosts a show on Air America called Workin' It. As an actress, her credits include PBS' drama series American Family, WB Network's comedy series First Time Out and the feature film Selena.

Former child star Pablo Santos has been killed in a plane crash in central Mexico. The teenager was on his way to Acapulco with friends when their private aircraft crashed during an emergency landing in Toluca, near Mexico City on Friday. Another passenger was also killed while everyone else on board was hospitalized. Survivor Diego Marcos has told local newspaper El Norte that he fears the plane crashed because it was overloaded. He explains the Piper Malibu craft was only supposed to carry six people, but he and his friends persuaded the pilot to take on an extra passenger. Santos, 19, appeared on TV shows Law & Order and American Family and he played the son of a Mexican family in Greetings From Tucson.

Movie star Raquel Welch is in trouble with her husband after forgetting to wear her wedding ring on TV. The actress appeared on breakfast show Good Morning America on Monday to promote the new TV series American Family and left her jewellery at home - upsetting her fourth husband Richard Palmer. She says, "My husband watched the show and said, 'Where's the wedding ring?' I felt so bad. When you do acting parts you can't wear your own personal jewellery, like a wedding band, because mine wouldn't go with my character, who's not married, so I had to take it off. I dread to leave it in a trailer because somebody might come by and steal it. They have security but you still never know. I have a little special heart-shaped box next to my make-up mirror that I put my rings in at home before I go to the studio. I forgot to put it on because I was so busy. He said, 'Do you still love me?'"...
