On a hike with his snacks of choice — his fiancé Noah Galvin and chocolate mushrooms — Ben Platt saw the light.
“I was feeling really joyful and really present with [Noah] and I think he could really sense that. We were having one of those deep talks on our walk and he was asking me to describe what was allowing me to feel that way, and I started to talk about what it feels like to be in our relationship and my love for him and I started to envision a physical manifestation of what it might look like inside my head,” Platt tells The Hollywood Reporter.
“Because I am super anxiety prone and a very stressed person generally, I imagine there’s lots of jagged edges and lots of sharp things poking out and prodding, and when I envision what love does, it doesn’t necessarily make those things disappear or replace them.

It seemed like Lana Del Rey had the best chance of her entire career to finally win her first Grammy. She had never been nominated more times at a single ceremony than at the 2024 event, and when Taylor Swift won Album of the Year for “Midnights” she went out of her way to praise Del Rey as legendary artist who has paved the way for musicians who have followed her. Alas, while Swift has now collected 14 trophies over the course of her career, Del Rey is now 0-for-11. Check out the complete list of winners here.
Del Rey received five nominations this year: Album of the Year and Best Alternative Music Album (“Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd“), Song of the Year and Best Alternative Music Performance (“A&W”) and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (“Candy Necklace” with Jon Batiste). The Grammy for Best Country Song has gone to some of the most iconic tunes ever in the genre. From all-time classics like Glen Campbell‘s “Gentle on My Mind” and Willie Nelson‘s “On the Road Again” to modern smash hits like Lady A’s “Need You Now” and critically acclaimed gems like Kacey Musgraves’s “Space Cowboy,” voters are often very careful and accurate in awarding the very best in country music. This year’s set of nominees is, in my opinion, one of the strongest the category has ever seen, with a mix of Grammy favorites and already-classic country songs facing off.
Perhaps the only song that doesn’t have much of a chance to win here is Brandy Clark’s “Buried.” The track isn’t really a big hit or particularly acclaimed, and Clark will likely fare better in the Americana categories anyway. Still, Clark got six nominations this year,...

The interview was published by Clashmusic late last month. Speaking about Elton’s plans now that he’s retired from touring, Townshend said: “Elton is so fraught with loss at not knowing what to do next. He’s just gone over to Los Angeles to make an album with Brandi Carlile,” reports Variety.

As per Variety, Elton himself teased a new album when inducting his longtime songwriting partner Bernie Taupin into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last November, noting that the pair recently completed an album that “is going to surprise the s*** out of you.

According to the current combined predictions of Gold Derby users, reigning Tony champ “Kimberly Akimbo” is the frontrunner to win this year’s Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album with 10/3 odds. Among them are “The Producers,” “Hairspray,” “Spring Awakening,” “In the Heights,” “The Book of Mormon,” “Kinky Boots,” “Hamilton,” “Dear Evan Hansen,” “The Band’s Visit” and “Hadestown.” Will that trend continue this year?

Taylor Swift: the record-breaker. The 2024 Grammy nominations were announced Friday, and with the reveal, Swift made her-story by breaking the record for most Song of the Year nods, thanks to “Anti-Hero.” She now has seven total nominations in the category, one more than Paul McCartney and Lionel Richie.
Swift also tied the record for most nods in the Album of the Year category for a female artist, held by Barbra Streisand, thanks to Midnights.
Swift, who prides herself on songwriting, earned her first Song of the Year nod in 2010 with “You Belong with Me.

For the second consecutive year, Broadway cast albums made a clean sweep of the Grammy nominations for Best Musical Theater Album, shutting out both the West End and Off Broadway.
Competing for the 2023 Grammy will be Kimberly Akimbo, Parade, Shucked, Some Like It Hot and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Three of the five nominees are new shows, while two – Parade and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – are revivals.
With today’s announcement, the Grammys reprise last summer’s Tony Awards, when all five of the productions made strong showing in both nominations and wins. At the Tonys, Kimberly Akimbo won top honors for Best Musical and Best Original Score, while Parade was named Best Musical Revival – three wins that might be most relevant as a Grammy predictor.
Still, the Tonys also awarded performances from Some Like It Hot and Shucked – Kimberly Akimbo‘s Victoria Clark and Bonnie Milligan took the Actress nominations in those categories – while Parade‘s Michael Arden was honored for his direction. David Lindsay-Abaire won Best Book for Kimberly Akimbo.
Like last year, all five of the nominees are Broadway cast albums, bucking a previous nomination trend that saw strong showings from both London, Off Broadway and even a concept album from a TikTok musical (the 2022 winner The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical).

Even in years when the nominations are more representative of theater both Broadway and non-Broadway, the Grammy winner almost always is a Broadway cast album, Bridgerton being the notable exception. The 2023 winner was the revival of Into The Woods, which began life Off Broadway as an Encores! presentation but took the Grammy for the recording of its subsequent Broadway staging.
Also worth noting: Of the five 2024 nominees, one has already closed (the limited engagement of Parade starring Ben Platt and Micaela Diamond), two will definitely be closed by the time the winners are announced on Feb. 4; and one – Sweeney Todd – will have lost its original leads (the final performances of Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford are January 14; Aaron Tveit and Sutton Foster step in beginning February 9 for 12 weeks only).
The 2024 Best Musical Theater Album nominees, as listed by the Grammys, are:
Kimberly Akimbo – John Clancy, David Stone & Jeanine Tesori, producers; Jeanine Tesori, composer; David Lindsay-Abaire, lyricist (Original Broadway Cast)
Parade – Micaela Diamond, Alex Joseph Grayson, Jake Pedersen & Ben Platt, principal vocalists; Jason Robert Brown & Jeffrey Lesser, producers; Jason Robert Brown, composer & lyricist (2023 Broadway Cast)
