Marvel fans have been eagerly awaiting more female-led superhero flicks to highlight the powerful women of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a world where male superheroes predominate. However, recent reports have suggested that the future of such projects could very well be at risk, making fans frustrated and disappointed.
Teyonah Parris’ character Monica Rambeau would have had her own solo MCU series if Brie Larson’s The Marvels had not been met with such dismal critical reception. Although Monica Rambeau made a fleeting appearance in Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels (2023), the character made her official debut in Disney+’s WandaVision.

However, it’s been alleged that Marvel scrapped her solo project after the Larson-starrer flick underperformed at the box office, triggering an enraged discussion among viewers regarding the challenges faced by female-driven superhero flicks.

‘The Marvels’ is the latest movie in the MCU. It continues Carol Danvers’ story and puts a spotlight on Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau, who became notable characters in Phase 4 of the MCU.
Despite its importance for the future of the cinematic universe, ‘The Marvels’ didn’t do well at the box office. Carol Danvers dealt with her issues with the Kree, Monica Rambeau got stuck in a parallel universe, hinting at future X-Men developments, and Kamala Khan was seen recruiting the next generation of Avengers for the upcoming ‘Young Avengers’ project. However, Carol Danvers didn’t seem to have a clear purpose by the end of the movie.
Recently, there have been rumors circulating that ‘Captain Marvel 3’ might not happen because the studio is prioritizing guaranteed successes. So, what could happen to one of the strongest Avengers? According to Alex Perez, a well-known source of leaks, Carol will have...

The Marvels’ Actor Teyonah Parris ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
The Marvels movie was released in November 2023 and didn’t receive a great response from critics and fans alike. It was the third Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie of 2023 after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 were released. The Nia DaCosta directorial stars Brie Larson, Samuel L Jackson, Iman Vellani, Teyonah Parris, Zawe Ashton, Lashana Lynch, Park Seo-joon, and others.
The superhero film brought together Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and a grown-up Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parrish) after Captain Marvel (2019). Even Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) joins the force to fight against a new space villain, Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton). Despite all of this, The Marvels failed to impress the audience. However, what got everyone’s attention was the post-credits scene.
In The Marvels’ post-credit scene, Monica gets pushed into another universe. She meets her mom, Maria Rambeau, at the hospital.

On November 10, 2023, ‘The Marvels’ hit theaters, and despite predictions of low box office numbers and mixed reviews, nobody anticipated just how poorly it would perform, breaking some unfortunate records as the lowest-grossing Marvel Studios movie to date.
A mix of factors contributed to its lackluster reception. Reviews were divided, with critics and fans alike unable to agree on whether the movie was any good. Many fans pointed fingers at superhero fatigue and a perceived decline in the quality of MCU storytelling.
In an unusual move, even Disney CEO Bob Iger acknowledged the movie’s failure, admitting the studio needed to prioritize quality over quantity. Following this, it was announced that only ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ would see release in 2024, in hopes of reigniting interest in the franchise.

On November 10, 2023 ‘The Marvels’ was released, and despite the prognosis for the movie being generally unfavorable, expecting low box office and mixed reviews no one could have prepared us that the movie would shatter some pretty infamous records. Being the lowest-grossing Marvel Studios movie of all time up to this point.
Various combinations of factors affected the success of the movie. The reception was mostly mixed, meaning that even among the critics, the view on whether the movie was good or not in the first place was vastly polarizing. Many fans outright stated that the effects of superhero fatigue are to blame and the fact that writing quality has decreased severely from MCU’s golden days. In an unprecedented decision, even Iger commented on the bomb of the century admitting that the studio needs to focus more on quality over quantity, and soon after that stemented it was revealed that...

Deadpool & Wolverine Theory ft Ryan Reynolds & Teyonah Paris (Picture Credit: IMDb)
Deadpool & Wolverine is one of the much-awaited movies of 2024. With the film, the mutants officially become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The Shawn Levy directorial stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as James “Logan” Howlett/Wolverine, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Rob Delaney as Peter, Leslie Uggams as Blind AI, Karan Soni as Dopinder and Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox. Emma Corrin plays the villain in the film.
No one knows the exact plot of the movie Deadpool 3. However, the teaser-trailer hinted at the multiversal adventure. There’s a reason why Wade Wilson caught the Time Variance Authority’s (Tva) attention. After all, if you meddle with timelines, you have to pay the price and we’ve seen that in Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. While it would be interesting to see how Ryan...

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was the surprise warm-up act at a prestigious film industry event in London on Wednesday night that saw Oppenheimer director — and BAFTA and Oscar front runner — Christopher Nolan receive the British Film Institute Fellowship Award for his outstanding contribution to cinema.
The premier hailed Nolan — whose credits also include the Dark Knight trilogy, Inception and Dunkirk — as “undoubtedly one of our preeminent filmmakers.”
However, before doing so, he delivered quips with an aplomb that had guests seated in the ballroom of London’s Rosewood Hotel in stitches.
“Politics is showbusiness for ugly people,” Sunak declared. The room liked that one, even though the line’s a golden oldie.
“So, I was pleasantly surprised,” he continued, “when I was recently mistaken for Timothée Chalamet.”
Then with a well-timed pause, he added, “At least, I think that’s why they were shouting ‘Wonka’ at me.”

The Marvels is now available to watch on Disney+, and while the movie wasn’t the project that was able to pull Marvel Studios out of the fire, it tried to entice the viewers at the eleventh hour that something major was coming when the final teaser stated, “Be there for the moment that changes everything.” Spoiler for those who haven’t seen it, but the post-credits scene features Kelsey Grammer reprising his role as Beast from the X-Men movies. Something that may or may not be addressed in Deadpool & Wolverine. However, according to Zawe Ashton, who played the big baddie Dar-Benn in the film, there was another big moment that was to take place in the ending of the movie.

“The film ‘The Marvels’ marked the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a box office disappointment for both Marvel Studios and Disney. While audiences appreciated the chemistry among the main trio of Larson, Parris, and Vellani, the movie faced significant criticism in other areas.
One of the primary points of contention was the portrayal of the main villain, Dar-Benn, played by Zawe Ashton. Although Ashton delivered an impressive performance, the character of Dar-Benn lacked depth, and her motivations for the actions she took remained unclear. Fans were particularly frustrated by the fact that Dar-Benn, armed only with the Quantum Band, appeared to overpower Captain Marvel—a superhero known for her immense strength within the MCU.

‘The Marvels’ was the latest installment in the MCU franchise and the latest box office flop for Marvel Studios and Disney. The movie was praised for the chemistry between the main trio of Larson, Parris, and Vellani, but pretty much every other aspect of the movie was criticized namely the story and the main villain – Dar-Benn played by Zawe Ashton.
It’s not that Zawe didn’t deliver a phenomenal performance, it’s that her character wasn’t really fleshed out and it had dubious motivations for the goals she was trying to achieve. The fans were also infuriated that Dar-Benn seemingly managed to toss Captain Marvel around with nothing but Quantum Band at her disposal, and we do know that Captain Marvel is one of the most powerful superheroes in the MCU.

The Marvels had an alternate ending ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
The Marvels is the last MCU movie of 2023 to release in theatres. The film stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms Marvel, and Zawe Ashton as Dar-Benn. The film is directed by Nia DaCosta, who co-wrote it with Megan McDonnel and Elissa Karasik.
The Brie Larson starrer received few positive reviews from the audience and critics. It even failed to mint good numbers at the box office. The MCU film was released on Disney+ a week ago, and the reception wasn’t exciting. However, Zawe Ashton, who played the villain, has made a big revelation.
The Marvels’ Alternate Ending
Zawe revealed The Marvels’ alternate ending, almost killing Brie’s Captain Marvel. Yes, you read it right. Instead of Monica Rambeau getting pushed to another universe, Carol Danvers would combust along with Dar-Benn.

This post contains spoilers for The Marvels.
With the exception of maybe Avengers: Endgame, no MCU movie just ends. Borrowing from the comic book medium in which its characters were born, MCU films end with cliffhangers and portends, mid- and post-credit scenes that tease up the next movie or storyline.
That’s certainly the case with The Marvels, the latest MCU entry and latest indication that the superhero boom is now a whimper. The post-credit scene offers yet another nod to the X-Men, but that’s not the only question viewers have after watching The Marvels.
As David Crow put it in Den of Geek‘s review, the movie feels like “a post-production Frankenstein situation where a combination of ideas are thrown at the wall by reshoots and reedits.” As a result, The Marvels ended with many unanswered questions.
Some of them are little annoyances, like “Why didn’t...

Jamie said in a statement, “Tom Holland is one of the greatest, most exciting young actors in the world. It is an honour to welcome him back to the West End.”
So far, there has been no casting announced for the role of Juliet.

Tom Holland will tackle the Bard this spring when he plays Romeo in director Jamie Lloyd’s West End production of Romeo & Juliet.
Lloyd and Holland made the announcement this morning. Romeo & Juliet will run at the Duke of York’s Theatre from Saturday, May 11 through Saturday August 3. Additional casting, including Juliet, was not announced, nor whether the production will follow the path of other Lloyd hits – including the pared-down stagings of A Doll’s House starring Jessica Chastain and Betrayal with Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Cox and Zawe Ashton, to name two – with an eventual move to Broadway.
Holland, though best known for his leading role in the Spider-Man film franchise and, more recently, as the star of the Apple TV+ limited series The Crowded Room, actually got his show business start on the stage, when at age 11 he landed a supporting part in the West End production of Billy Elliot: The Musical.

The Marvels is almost ready to fly higher, further, and faster on Digital and Blu-ray! The Captain Marvel sequel starring Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Teyona Parris (Captain Monica Rambeau), and Eman Velani (Ms. Marvel) takes flight on Apple TV+ and Prime Video beginning on January 16, 2024, and on Blu-ray and DVD on February 13.
The digital and physical releases of The Marvels pack a punch with exclusive bonus content, including deleted scenes, a gag reel, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and an audio commentary from co-writer/director Nia DaCosta and VFX Supervisor Tara DeMarco.
While The Marvels is the lowest-grossing installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s worth noting that many who saw the film had a blast and enjoyed the adventure’s lighter tone and shorter runtime. The Marvels banked $197 million worldwide, becoming a casualty of the SAG-AFTRA strike restrictions preventing the cast from giving the film a proper promotional lead-in.

2023 will forever be remembered as the year the superhero bubble finally popped. While multiple DC Comics films fell flat on their face at the box office over those 12 months, it was the "The Marvels" and its shockingly poor commercial performance that made it clear: the Marvel Cinematic Universe can no longer coast by on the sheer staying power of the brand.
Fortunately, there was some good news to report on that front. "The Marvels" star and ever-enthusiastic Kamala Khan actor Iman Vellani emerged fully unscathed from the wreckage, ensuring the franchise is in safe hands going forward. The film around her also has its fair share of defenders, who found writer/director Nia DaCosta's cosmic superhero adventure to be one heck of a good time despite all the obvious behind-the-scene turmoil that DaCosta clearly had to navigate while making it. That's our polite way of telling Disney CEO Bob Iger...

The Marvels has stumbled at the box office; Perhaps that’s putting it mildly, as the movie had the lowest opening of any film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But fear not, Disney CEO Bob Iger believes he knows the reason behind the failure of The Marvels.
While speaking at the New York Times’ DealBook Summit 2023 (per The Verge), Bob Iger placed the blame for The Marvels underperforming on… not enough executives on set. The Disney chief said that the increased number of Marvel projects has made it challenging to maintain quality, adding that “The Marvels was shot during Covid, and there wasn’t enough supervision on set” from executives. That’s one way to look at it.

It’s no secret that Marvel Studios isn’t exactly enjoying the same level of praise it did during the Infinity Saga days, but The Marvels star Iman Vellani has a few suggestions to get the franchise back on track.
While speaking with The Direct, Iman Vellani said that Marvel needs to make “the audience care about their characters” again. “I don’t know. I don’t know if it’s about just getting bigger and bigger and bigger,” Vellani said. “Because then, like, what’s left? We can admit it now. The Marvels bombed.
Marvel has had some misfires before, but they usually happened only on the critical end. Audiences still rushed to see panned flicks like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Thor: Love & Thunder. But with The Marvels, audiences and critics came together to express their dissatisfaction. No one thing explains the problems. Like its predecessor Captain Marvel, bad faith reviews flooded the internet with people mad about lady superheroes, but numerous, and legitimate, other culprits led to the downfall: from superhero fatigue to a nonsense story combined with obnoxious editing, to separation from the larger shared universe.
In short, The Marvels comes at a key point in the MCU experiment, one whose failures and successes illuminate the way forward for the company. But rest assured, there is a way forward, and we have a few of our own silly ideas about how to navigate that.

This post contains spoilers for "The Marvels."
In "The Marvels," Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau (the latter of whom, we will, in accordance with Kamala Khan, henceforth call "Professor Marvel") do battle with Dar-Benn, a Kree warrior who plans to destroy multiple worlds. It's not a nice thing to do, and it makes sense that our heroes don't want her to do it.
There's just one problem.
Dar-Benn, played by Zawe Ashton, isn't just wrecking planets for fun. We learn quickly that she's using the power of the Quantum Bands — never mind those, they're just a MacGuffin — to remove the atmosphere, the oceans, and even the sun from other inhabited worlds and move them to her own world, Hala, which was left in ruins after Captain Marvel, at the end of her first movie, liberated it from the Supreme Intelligence.
It turns out that destroying an entire planet's...

“I mean, there are connections. Some secret, some not-so-secret,” Tom answered “I don’t know what the fans think the secret connection is.”
While Jimmy concluded that that meant there was no connection between the two new Marvel projects, Tom was quick to point out his own personal connection to the movie.

Tom Hiddleston Says ‘Loki’ Season 2 Finale Is the ‘Conclusion’ to His 14-Year Marvel Journey (Video)
Following the show’s Season 2 finale, “Loki” star Tom Hiddleston appeared on “The Tonight Show” and told Jimmy Fallon that the episode marked the end of his 14-year journey with Marvel.
Fallon had Hiddleston on as his first actor guest who could talk about one of his big projects following the SAG-AFTRA strike ending.
Hiddleston was careful not to reveal too much, telling Fallon, “If you haven’t seen it, I will not spoil it for you, but I will say this: It all comes full circle.”
“It’s the conclusion to Season 2 … It’s also the conclusion to six films, and 12 episodes, and 14 years of my life,” Hiddleston said.
Hiddleston noted that he was 29 when he was first cast as the villain, eventually turned antihero if not hero — he’s now 42.

“The Marvels” are here.
The super-heroic team, consisting of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau/Photon (Teyonah Parris) and Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), join together to rid the galaxy of a villainous threat orchestrated by Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton). Also their light-based powers are hopelessly entangled so that makes it difficult to strike out on your own. Not only are they faced with stopping a powerful foe (one that has a connection to both Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel) but they also have to figure out their group dynamics, especially since every time they use their powers they switch places with one another.
But what lies beyond the movie itself? To answer that we must first issue a major spoiler warning. If you haven’t seen “The Marvels” yet, turn back now, we’re diving deep into “The Marvels” credits scene. This will be here when you get back.

“In Marvel Studios’ The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence,” reads the official synopsis. “But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.
