Despite the vacuum that Americans tend to live in, there is an entirely different world that exists outside the scope of our visible and physical realities. When you mention film and stage, Americans automatically assume Hollywood or Broadway are involved, but there are entertainment worlds that span the globe outside our sphere of indulgence. Even when it comes to comedy, we are captivated by Kevin Hart, Jim Carrey and the like; however, Europe has talent as well. One dynamic comedian that has major traction in the United Kingdom is Russell Howard. He is not only funny but he is immensely

Russell Howard returns to screens this evening (April 29) for a new stand-up show on Comedy Central.
The 35-year-old will perform new material while also answering questions from Twitter with the help of two hand-picked comedians every week.
"It's me and a bunch of brilliant stand-ups from the circuit telling jokes in a tiny club," the comedian said frankly.
"They're people on the circuit who I think are great. John Robins, Andrew Maxwell, Sara Pascoe, Nish Kumar."
When asked whether TV adds some pressure to his performance, he added: "I guess so 'cos you go through the myriad of what you can and can't say but to be honest, once you get going it's just a laugh, isn't it?"
Howard - who got into comedy at the age of 15 after watching VHS tapes of Lee Evans - also revealed that his greatest comedy TV show is Gavin & Stacey.

Marvin Humes has tried his hand at hairdressing as part of Channel 4's new charity series Stars at Your Service.
The former Jls star was recruited by fans Audrey and Nevrus to come and work in their salon in Woodstock, Oxfordshire for the day.
Stars at Your Service gives members of the public the chance to think up tasks and challenges for a variety of celebrities to undertake.
It was Humes's second visit to the village of Woodstock, as he and wife Rochelle Humes married there back in 2012. He was surprised to find that one of his clients was the registrar who married them.
As part of his duties as salon assistant, Humes blow dried people's hair, made tea for colleagues and clients, and helped take bookings at the reception desk.
He said: "I've never cut hair before, so working in Nevrus's salon was quite a nerve-wracking but brilliant experience.

The character lives in a Miami apartment with the three young models after being discovered as a hand model and is thrown into their world.
The script has been written by Jon Foster and James Lamont, who scripted The Harry Hill Movie and are working on the second series of Cuckoo.
Although the sitcom is set in America the show will be filmed in Britain, and a pilot episode is set to be recorded at Pinewood Studios on July 24.

Resembling Russell Howard’s bumpkin cousin, Seann Walsh is a panel show regular but don’t hold that against him. While there’s little groundbreaking or innovation to his act, Walsh’s affability and radiant normality, makes him an effortlessly engaging performer.
Marcus Brigstocke’s belittled Peter Kay for his ‘remembering things’ comedic style but observational comedy will always resonate more powerfully with audiences than Brigstocke’s left-leaning rants or the deconstructionist brilliance of Stewart Lee. So while many of Walsh’s gags grow from a ‘you know when…’ premise, each ends in full-bodied laughter.
This DVD special, filmed at the now peculiarly-named Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, maintains a jaunty pace, at odds with Walsh’s repeated claims of lethargy and poor fitness. He’s certainly derivative at times, and fans of Jim Gaffigan or Russell Brand’s Ponderland series will feel an irksome familiarity when Walsh touches on the embarrassment of buying toilet paper,...

Commitment to a role is something to be applauded, but sometimes that commitment can do too far, as actors put themselves in harm’s way to commit a more convincing performance to the screen. Injuries on set are nothing new – Shia Labeouf seems to collect them every time someone casts him in a movie that is probably beyond his range – but it is rarer to see the injuries actually preserved in the final edits.
It might sound like a cheap pay-off, but genuine injuries have been included in movies in order to better sell the scene: they often lead to the best takes, as artifice goes out of the window when an actor is confronted with a stinging reminder of his own mortality. And it’s not like they don’t get paid more than enough to cover the health bills for a few bumps and bruises.

Rather than replacing the comedy clip show, the explosion of homemade videos on sites like YouTube has given the genre a whole new lease of life.
Following Totally Viral, Rude Tube and Robert's Web comes Seann Walsh World, which intercuts web footage with Walsh's stand-up and some connected sketches.
Ahead of the launch of the show this week on Comedy Central, Digital Spy spoke to Seann all about it.
How did you get involved in the show?
"Comedy Central wanted to do a show that had internet clips, and that sounded fun to me if we could do stand-up and sketches off the clips - use the clips to branch off. We were able, so I was really happy with that."
How involved are you in actually choosing the clips ?
"Fortunately I have a nice team that will go through loads and loads of clips and then we'll eventually go through them.

There are too few hirsute funny men in the world. The smooth, or pretentiously stubble’d, of chin still dominate at making us chortle. Fortunately charismatic comedian Craig Campbell will continue to right that wrong when he debuts his eccentric live show on iTunes this week. Already well established on the circuit and still touring his Edinburgh 2012 show with the Lumberjacks – alongside Stewart Francis and Glenn Wool – the distinctively bearded stand-up is now ready to stand alone. Recognisable from slots on Michael Mcintyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Russell Howard’s Good News and Dave’s One Night Stand, Craig once upon a time appeared in the nation’s living rooms as the presenter of Sky One’s forgettable reality show From Wimps to Warriors.

Sbs is relaunching Sbs 2 in April as a youth-oriented, multi-platform channel.
It is the first rebrand since the channel (then called Sbs Two) was launched in June 2009. Working under severe budget-constraints, it broadcast (and re-broadcast) a similar mix of main channel content including world film, drama, documentaries, international news and sport. Channel 4's Big Fat Quiz of the Year has been cleared of wrongdoing by TV watchdog Ofcom, which has concluded that complaints about the comedy show don't warrant investigation.
Only five complaints were originally made about the annual comedy panel show, which aired at Christmas.

However, after the Daily Mail wrote several articles attacking the show and the comics involved, the number of complaints increased to 180.
The Daily Mail chose to republish all the show's alleged "vile sexual slurs" in an apparent attempt to encourage its readers to voice their displeasure. The paper also listed the names and salaries of Channel 4 execs who did not respond to the complaints.
Jokes which viewers apparently found upsetting included some from Jack Whitehall, James Corden and host Jimmy Carr about the Queen, Barack Obama and Susan Boyle.

Russell Howard has said that he fears general anaesthetic turned him into a "racist football manager". The Good News presenter was speaking on fellow comedian Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre podcast when he recalled having to undergo an operation following an accident. Howard described how he nearly had his thumb amputated after it became badly infected when he injured it on a fence. Describing the experience of being under anaesthetic as "weird", the 32-year-old said: "You can see the words tumbling out of your mouth but can't stop them. There were two things I said." He described the first as thinking he was a knight and asking a nurse to find him a horse in order to escape. The second, he said, was "terrible", adding: "But I was under general anaesthetic, so it's (more)...

TV comic Russell Howard has criticised "censorship" of comedy during the London 2012 Olympics. The stand-up claimed that broadcasters should have been bolder and allowed comedians to poke fun at the Games. "I was quite upset really. There was no comedy on during the Olympics at all. None whatsoever," he told Digital Spy. "There's too much money in it. The powers that be didn't want people making jokes about the Olympics, it's too important apparently." Speaking about how he would have liked to work around the sporting spectacle, he said: "We'd have made jokes about the Olympics in the same way as we always do. It would have been a light touch and we'd have only touched on things that were genuinely funny (more)...

TV comic Russell Howard has criticised the BBC for "censorship" of comedy during the London 2012 Olympics. Russell Howard has revealed that he turned down the chance to star on this year's series of Strictly Come Dancing. The comedian suggested that competing on the show would mean his career is "in trouble". "My mum was gutted, but there's just no chance I was going to do it," Howard told the Daily Star. "I was flattered they asked, but I really, really can't dance. I'm like a newborn pony. "And it'd probably mean my career was in trouble if I did it. I'll stick to (more)...

If actor Clive Owen ever finds himself at a loose end, Andrew has a few film pitches which he thinks will be a perfect fit…
Described as potentially “one note” in Empire Magazine (with the qualifying comment of “it's a bloody good note and nobody else could play it better”), Clive Owen is more versatile than many give him credit for.
After a varied career in film, stage and television with appearances of note in Chancer, Close My Eyes, the original theatrical version of Closer, and 1997's double-header of Croupier and Bent, he reached the big time in with a very strong run of films (from Sin City in 2005 through to Shoot 'Em Up in 2007). Since then he has alternated between more obviously commercial work such as Duplicity and Killer Elite with more personal, human dramas such as Intruders and The Boys are Back.

A Surge in sales of DVD and Blu-ray titles in the run-up to Christmas, boosted by British talent, brought 2011 to a more cheerful end for retailers.
Figures just released by the British Video Association show that "physical video entertainment sales" (that's DVDs and Blu-ray discs) in December were up 8.4 per cent in value to £473.3 million on the same period last year, as highly anticipated hit titles were released in time for the festive season.
Christmas is traditionally the most important time of year for home entertainment products and in 2011, December represented 23 per cent of the year's total physical sales, the best performance since December 2003, when it represented 23.1 per cent.
For the first time, British titles featuring popular homegrown talent such as Harry Potter, Inbetweeners, The King's Speech, Pirates of the Caribbean, Paul and Peter Kay dominated December disc sales and also the Top 10 chart for the whole of 2011, representing 80 per...

Frankie Boyle has dismissed fellow stand-up Stewart Lee as "irrelevant and flabby". The Tramadol Nights star told The Guardian that he is not a fan of Lee, who is currently touring new show Carpet Remnant World. Boyle said of Lee: "It seems to me [he's] irrelevant and flabby. Okay, you don't like Russell Howard; that's fine. But don't put on your posters 'a new kind of political comedy'. "Yeah, without any politics. Crisps? What the f**k is that about? People internalise marketing. You sell yourself and people sell stuff to you. "He ends up going, 'Michael McIntyre, Russell Howard, not like me'. What the f**k is that? Sick of that old washing powder?" Talking to Digital Spy about Boyle's controversial (more)...

Tonight, Discovery seems to be airing a non-Shark Week themed show since "One Man Army" is airing at its usual time. I've checked the episode description and nowhere does it mention Anything about sharks so that's frustrating and confusing. They've managed to make episodes of "Mythbusters" and "Dirty Jobs" that were Shark Week themed so I don't know why they can't just do that for all shows that air during Shark Week. And since the same company owns TLC and Discovery channel maybe they could send a few sharks over to "Toddlers and Tiaras" to get these parents to have a little perspective. "What's that? Your little girl doesn't like it when you bleach her hair because it burns? That's a shame. We've got someone to help you deal with those feelings. Actually, several someones. Or somethings. We call the big one Bitey." Here's your Wednesday night TV:

Holy Kish! Another light of my youth has been extinguished. ABC has canceled All My Children and One Life To Live. While not unexpected news, it's still tough to get my mind around, and almost one year to the day that I did my last Oltl liveblog. AMC will go off the air in September, while Oltl will be on until January (which should give them plenty of time to get Kish back for the end of the run). So what is replacing these two iconic shows? The first is a cooking show called, I kid you not, The Chew. Because TV definitely needs another cooking show. If only there was some kind of ... food ... network ... where we could see this untapped genre. The other offering is the weight loss reality program The Revolution. I'm sure both of these shows will last the 40+ years that their predecessors have.
