ABC’s American Idol Season 22 is here, and fans welcome back Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Katy Perry as the judges. The three judges have developed a fantastic working relationship with each other, but a body language expert believes that Perry is already “checked out” of this season. Here’s why.
‘American Idol’ Season 22 coach Katy Perry appears ‘checked out,’ a body language expert says
American Idol Season 22 is officially in full swing, and fans can’t wait to see who Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie choose to push through the early stages of the competition. Perry joined American Idol in 2018 and has won numerous awards for her music through the years. There’s no doubt that Perry loves being a judge on the series — but body language expert Judi James told The Sun that Perry appears to have “checked out of her job” this season.

Former American Idol judge Randy Jackson was among the stars who appeared at this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas.
Jackson, now the band leader for the game show Name That Tune, was on stage during the annual arts festival to discuss A&r and artist Development, a topic he’s quite familiar with.
The 67-year-old television personality is also a musician and record executive.
After starting as a bass guitarist for different musicians, Jackson moved into other areas of the music industry, including production. He eventually worked in A&r for Columbia Records and McA Records.
That gave him plenty of experience to discuss the specific topics he conversed about at the recent music festival event.
However, he may have raised some concerns about his health while recently speaking on stage.

Seems like Reacher fans haven’t scrolled down far enough on Alan Ritchson’s filmography, because many have only recently realized the action star auditioned for American Idol Season 3 back in 2004. “Today I learned that while his first credited role as an actor was Aquaman in Smallville in 2005 (which I did know), Alan Ritchson was actually on network TV a year before… as himself auditioning for American Idol,” one X user wrote on March 9. “And he made it to Hollywood! Literally!” “Wait, how am I just finding out Alan Ritchson was on American Idol?!” another person posted on March 14. “I wonder if this Idol appearance led to him getting work as an actor,” a third X user wrote a day latter. “Let him sing already!” Ritchson was just a 20-year-old from Niceville, Florida, when he tried out for the singing competition — and he had Paula Abdul smiling even before he started singing,...

On Name That Tune a few years ago, lots of fans were talking about how Randy Jackson looked way too thin, and this month, when he attended an artist’s concert he seemed less enthusiastic than normal, being slower and less animated. Naturally, this sort of thing worries American Idol fans because he’s changed so much over the last few years.
American Idol Fans Worry That Randy Jackson Is Ill
The host of Name That Tune seems to be a fraction of the size he was on American Idol. Many people felt concerned about his health as he dropped so much weight. He reportedly decided to do something about his health because of a Type-2 Diabetes diagnosis. At one stage, he weighed in at 350lbs but he’s nowhere near that size in 2024. However, his before and after photos made people wonder what else might be wrong with him.

Ross Valory has dreamed of making a solo album ever since he started gigging around San Francisco in the late Sixties, but other projects kept getting in the way. He was in the process of amassing original songs in 1971 when the Steve Miller Band brought him into the fold to play bass on Rock Love. Later, he teamed up with ex-members of Santana to form the Golden Gate Rhythm Section. Within a few months, they changed their name to Journey.

American Idol has gone through a constantly changing roster of judges. There have been some perfect judges, odd choices, and stars who simply didn’t work out. If you haven't noticed, Alan Ritchson is carving out a nice little niche for himself as a Hollywood toughman. Last year he made a big (literally) impression as the hulking protagonist of Prime Video's "Reacher," battling his way through eight episodes of high-octane action and establishing himself as the definitive on-screen version of Lee Child's ex-military policeman — sorry, Tom Cruise. Hell, the man fought off five guys single-handedly in a prison fight that took months of preparation. And now, he's one of the latest additions to the "Fast" franchise, bringing his Jack Reacher muscle to the role of Agency head Aimes in "Fast X."
With that in mind, it might come as a surprise that Ritchson spent his younger years trying to get a singing career off the ground — even entering "American Idol" to see what Simon Cowell and company thought of his vocal abilities. In the show's third...

Ryan Seacrest revealed he was initially considered to be a judge on American Idol before becoming the longtime host of the singing competition show.
During his appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show Friday, The Kardashians executive producer told Clarkson, who won the first season of American Idol in 2002, that then-producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick originally heard him on the radio in Los Angeles when they were planning the show and “thought that I might fit the panel to be up there with whoever else was already on.”
“I guess Simon [Cowell] was already on board, and I don’t know who else at that point,” he added. “And I was like, ‘Well, wait a minute. I would love to audition to be the host.’ And so I auditioned eventually to be the host. And I got the job. So I’m happy to still have the job.”

Exclusive: Michaela Jaé Rodriguez is working again with Pose co-creator Ryan Murphy on the 12th season of FX’s American Horror Story.
Rodriguez joins already cast Kim Kardashian, Emma Roberts and Cara Delevingne in what’s being dubbed thematically as ‘delicate.’
The latest season of Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s American Horror Story is based on the Danielle Valentine thriller novel, Delicate Condition, due out in August. Season 12 is being adapted and showrun by Halley Feiffer. It’s the first time that the anthology series drew inspiration from a novel. The season reportedly follows a woman who becomes convinced that a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens. Season 12 is also being billed as a feminist update of Rosemary’s Baby. Rodriguez’s role is being kept under wraps.

American Idol has given many dreamers an opportunity for superstardom. But Madonna felt the iconic reality television series would’ve done her career more harm than good.

Even among her fellow contemporaries, Madonna stands out as one of the music industry’s most unique megastars. She was the type of artist that even American Idol’s earlier judges hoped to find.
The reality TV show was known for making superstars out of talented singers like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Dear future "Love Is Blind" contestants: Please don't serenade your love interest. No matter how sweet the gesture may seem, how much you practice in the shower, or how confident you are that it could result in a future record deal, singing in the pods is henceforth off limits, per requests from countless fans.
Unfortunately, this crucial PSA wasn't disseminated before season four of the dating series was filmed, so two men succumbed to the temptation. In episode three, both Kwame Appiah and Zack Goytowski attempt to woo Chelsea Griffin and Irina Solomonova, respectively, by singing to them. The cringe I experienced was hard to ignore. Both moments are worth dissecting individually, so let's begin with Appiah, shall we?
Despite his palpable disappointment at being turned down by Micah Lussier, the 33-year-old sales development manager continues pursuing Griffin and decides to create an original song for her to stay on the show showcase his dedication.

This often leads to artists who aren’t necessarily as good as their competitors moving on to Hollywood Week out of pity. Here’s what fans have said about the “sob stories” on American Idol and how this format needs to change.
