The Naked Gun Official Trailer Is The Single Most Important Trailer Of The Year (And Maybe All-Time)

To kickstart their very Mission: Impossible focused CinemaCon presentation, Paramount first debuted the official trailer for their upcoming action-comedy The Naked Gun, a movie they are cheekily describing as "The single most important Naked Gun movie since the other Naked Gun movies."
It's a short teaser, featuring leading man Liam Neeson, as he intervenes during a bank heist, but you're going to have to just watch it to believe it. We also learn that he's playing Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Leslie Nielsen's Lt. Frank Drebin, who the film will honor and it seems like they'll do it in typical Naked Gun fashion.
The film will provide some much-needed humor to an action-packed summer, opening in the wake of Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps and opposite the animated sequel The Bad Guys 2 and the body horror film Together. It's likely Fantastic Four will repeat as the box office champ,...

The teaser trailer for The Naked Gun reboot starring Liam Neeson sees his character, Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., letting it all hang out while attempting to stop a bank robbery. Watch it below.
Elsewhere in the trailer, we see Neeson and Capt. Ed Hocken (Paul Walter Hauser) paying tribute to their respective fathers, Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) and Cpt. Ed Hocken (George Kennedy). There’s also a nod to the real-life crimes of O.J. Simpson, with his character’s son gazing at a photo and declining to remember him fondly.
“Only one man has the particular set of skills… to lead Police Squad and save the world!” reads the official logline. Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. follows in his father’s footsteps in The Naked Gun.”
Out in theaters on August 1st, the film was directed by The Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaffer, who co-wrote the script with Dan Gregor and Doug Mand.

As pundits wonder whether or not President Trump will attend this year’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, the politics of entertainment funding carries on. Following February’s think tank-esque National Arts Advocacy Summit in Summerlin, Las Vegas, The Creative Coalition (Tcc) and an entertainment-community delegation will head to Capitol Hill the weekend of the dinner to speak directly with lawmakers for continued federal support of the arts. Amid a fraught backdrop that includes Trump’s firing of the Kennedy Center board and installing himself as chair, and Elon Musk calling for defunding NPR, Tcc may face an uphill battle on April 25.
The Summerlin summit in February set the strategy — to lead with economic impact. “The arts are not just a cultural asset — they are a cornerstone of economic growth and national prosperity,” said Tim Daly, Tcc president. “The arts sector generates over $877 billion annually, accounting for 4.5 percent of the...

Kate Hudson admitted on the “Capital Breakfast” radio show (via Entertainment Weekly) that turning down “The Devil Wears Prada” was “a bad call.” Before Anne Hathaway was cast as Andrea “Andy” Sachs, director David Frankel met with the likes of Hudson, Rachel McAdams, Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Kirsten Dunst.
“That was a bad call. It was a timing thing, it was one of those things where I couldn’t do it, and I should’ve made it happen, and I didn’t,” Hudson said, all these years later. “That was one where when I saw it I was like, ‘Ugh.'”
Hudson maintained that “everything happens for a reason,” but she still admitted that she “should’ve made that work.” The movie, which was a box office hit with $327 million and a two-time Oscar nominee, remains one of Hathaway’s most iconic roles.

Over the past three years, Max Winkler has become near-synonymous with the expanding Ryan Murphy TV portfolio. The indie filmmaker and TV director has helmed episodes of six different Murphy productions during this brief period, most recently tackling the bulk of FX’s Grotesquerie and a pivotal episode of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story for Netflix.
Winkler is already at work on their next collaboration. He’ll serve as director and executive producer on the yet-to-be-titled third installment of the Monster franchise, which turns its focus to 1950s serial killer Ed Gein. The project isn’t just a reunion for Winkler, Murphy and co-creator Ian Brennan; Winkler was instrumental in bringing on another past associate: the series’ lead. Charlie Hunnam, who previously starred in Winkler’s 2019 boxing drama Jungleland, is playing Gein. And Winkler is already quite bullish on how it’s coming together.

Chris Harrison left Bachelor Nation years ago after the controversy surrounding Rachael Kirkconnell. However, it seems that people are not finished piling on him, and this happened again in a recent podcast with Matt Rogers and Rachel Bloom.
Here is what Matt and Rachel had to say about the former Bachelor host.
The Bachelor: Matt Rogers Calls Chris Harrison A ‘Jerk’
Matt Rogers met Chris Harrison in 2017 when he appeared on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire. Harrison was hosting the game show at the time, and Matt was on there as a contestant. Matt ended up winning $5,000 on the show, but he left it with a bad impression of Harrison.

After facing some stiff competition from rival networks, ABC is set to bring Rachel Bloom back to broadcast television. The co-creator and star of The CW's musical comedy-drama Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is developing Do You Want Kids?, a new single-camera series that she's once again set to lead in addition to co-writing. This time, however, her creative partner will be her husband, Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers and How I Met Your Mother writer Dan Gregor. Both will write the half-hour series with 20th Studios producing and Steve Levitan and Danielle Stokdyk executive producing through Levitan Productions.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend started off as a fun musical, with a lot to say about mental health. Never preachy and always producing catchy songs, episode after episode, the shows best came from one particular character Greg. Initially played by Santino Fontana, Greg Serrano was the perfect foil for main character Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom), and mirrored her in his own struggles with mental health. After Fontana left the show early in the second season, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend lost its anchor from a talent and narrative perspective.

For the record, if there is a cosmic one, Rachel Bloom would like audiences to know that she’d much rather be making raunchy jokes about foliage that smells like bodily fluids. Instead, in her new Netflix comedy special Death, Let Me Do My Special, Bloom tackles the Covid-19 pandemic, giving birth, the death of her longtime collaborator Adam Schlesinger, and the Grim Reaper himself, head-on. When we meet at a buzzing espresso bar in New York City in October, it’s a bleary Wednesday morning, and Bloom, who makes L.

Is it time to go to West Covina, CA again?
When it went off the air in 2019, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” packed a great ending, but it is the age of reboots and reimagining, so when IndieWire recently Zoomed with creator and star Rachel Bloom, we had to know if there was any scenario where fans would get to see more of Rebecca Bunch. Previously, Bloom has publicly flirted with a stage musical, given the hundreds of original songs she performed over the four-season run of the CW show.
“A stage musical [version of ‘Crazy Ex-gf’] is definitely part of the goal,” she told IndieWire of future plans. “And then literally, as recently as last night, I had a dream about coming back to ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ and doing a Season 5. I don’t think it’s gonna happen, but rest assured, this is a dream, a recurring dream, that I have had ever since 2019. And then...

[Editor’s note: This interview contains very light spoilers for Rachel Bloom’s comedy special “Death, Let Me Do My Special.”]
Two-thirds of the way through her new Netflix special, Rachel Bloom is singing about ghosts. Dealing with death intruding on all aspects of her life, Bloom puts her spin on a ghost song: “I’m a bloody bride/ holding a knife/ but I’m also proof/ of an afterlife.” Ghosts are spooky, but Bloom knows there’s nothing quite as creepy as oblivion.
The tune is sharp, memorably off-kilter, and very, very funny. In other words, classic Bloom, working it out by remixing her anxieties into the kind of catchy comedy pop tunes that “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” fans have come to love.
Her latest project, “Death, Let Me Do My Special,” which debuts on the streamer October 15, centers some heavy shit: As she explains in the special, Bloom planned to do a light hour, but then March 2020 happened, the world shut down,...

Heartstopper is an amazing show that has gained a wide following, thanks to its upbeat tone, dynamic relationships, and willingness to address serious issues. Fans love to root for Nick and Charlie's love story, but they get just as much from seeing Nick's family tensions and Charlie's struggles with mental health.
Heartstopper season 3 just arrived on Netflix on Oct. 3, 2024, which gives fans 8 more episodes to swoon over. But it is still a relatively short show, and the show's crave-ability means that fans can run out of episodes after a couple of binge sessions. Once that happens, it's back to looking for shows to fill the hole it leaves until the next season.
On the up side, there are plenty of other shows out there to recommend. There's plenty of other great LGBTQ+ teen romances out there, like Young Royals, Love, Victor, and Sex Education. And those are all options worth checking out!

The following contains major spoilers from Frasier Season 2, Episode 5, "The Squash Courtship of Freddy's Father," now streaming on Paramount+.
The Frasier revival has gone down some emotional paths recently -- so who better than Bebe Glazer to shake everything up? Frasier Season 2, Episode 5, "The Squash Courtship of Freddy's Father" features the return of another original series character, and it's the perfect way to throw everything into chaos and provide the more broad comedy that the previous episodes stepped back from. In fact, it has plot twists so absurd that it's the most insane half-hour of the Paramount+ series yet.
"The Squash Courtship of Freddy's Father" starts in an almost painfully familiar place: Frasier worries that he has nothing in common with his son Freddy, and is determined to fix that -- whether Freddy likes it or not. But what seems like a "been there, done that" is spiced up when...

This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Frasier."
Throughout "Frasier" and its 1993-2004 run, one of the best recurring characters was Harriet Sansom Harris' Bebe Glazer. An unscrupulous, shrewish agent who Niles (David Hyde Pierce) once described as "Lady Macbeth without the sincerity," Bebe was always bringing some sort of media deal to Frasier that threatened to undermine his integrity while netting him (and Bebe) a large paycheck. But while she was conniving, manipulative, and often just flat-out ridiculous, Frasier's agent always maintained a dogged commitment to her client.
In order to do what she thought was best for Frasier, however, she would often come up with some of the most absurd schemes ever seen on the show. "Frasier" frequently dabbled in farce, which made for some delightfully unlikely scenarios. But whenever Bebe showed up, you knew the limits of credulity were about to be stretched even further.

Rachel Bloom has never shied away from confronting big, dark topics with music. It’s kind of her thing. The writer and actress, who first wooed the internet with the viral music video for her track “Fuck Me, Ray Bradbury,” spent four seasons examining mental illness and identity with song and dance on her deep (and deliriously funny) CW musical comedy: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
After the series ended in 2019, the shit hit the fan. 2020 was rough for just about everybody, but Bloom had a particularly hard go of it. After giving birth to her first child in the initial wave of the pandemic, her daughter went right into the Nicu. Then, her friend and longtime song-writing partner Adam Schlesinger died of Covid-19 complications. Death, both the threat and reality of it, were suddenly top of mind. So when she began to rethink an already-planned one-woman show on the other side of things,...

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Bloom teased what to expect from her character, Phoebe Glazer, the daughter of Frasier's agent Bebe Glazer (Harriet Sansom Harris) in Season 2 of the revival series. According to Glazer, Phoebe and Kelsey Grammer's titular character click instantly to the point that Dr. Crane wonders if they're related. I play Phoebe Glazer, a very cultured kind of opera fan, and she and Frasier instantly hit it off in a way that he questions if maybe they're related, Bloom said.

Pitched somewhere between The White Lotus, Glass Onion and the latest Harlan Coben series, The Perfect Couple is a glossy spin on the rich-people-are-awful sub-genre of murder-mystery: combining melodramatic twists, turns and character revelations with a remarkably deep bench of on-screen talent, plus stylish direction from The Night Manager’s Susanne Bier.
Bier reunites with Nicole Kidman (after previously working together on the not-dissimilar-in-tone The Undoing) for this six-part Netflix series, which sees Kidman once again step into the role of slightly miserable, impeccably coiffed (though the wig here is questionable), incredibly rich woman. Also on executive producing duty here, she plays Greer Garrison Winbury, bestselling author, and matriarch of the wealthy Winbury family. The cast surrounding her is stacked: there’s Liev Schreiber as her rugged, pot-smoking husband Tag; Bad Sisters breakout Eve Hewson as fish-out-of-water bride-to-be Amelia; Meghann Fahy (so good in...

Fox’s Accused has added four actors to its season two cast. Cobie Smulders, Vella Lovell, Dina Shihabi, and Isabel Arraiza have joined the crime anthology series for the upcoming season.
In addition, Fox unveiled a short trailer teasing the fictional cases and timely subject matters that will be featured in the new season.
“Accused is a collection of intense, topical, and human stories of crime and punishment. Each episode is a fast-paced provocative thriller, exploring a different crime, in a different city, with an entirely original cast,” reads Fox’s synopsis. “Based on the BBC’s BAFTA-winning crime anthology, each episode opens in a courtroom on the defendant, with viewers knowing nothing about their crime or how they ended up on trial. Told from the defendant’s point of view through flashbacks, the show holds a mirror up to current times with evocative and emotional stories. In the end,...

The good news about The Perfect Couple, Netflix’s adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s novel about a death at a wedding weekend, is that the finale is a blast.
The pacing is zippy. The solution is satisfying — hard to guess in the moment, yet perfectly logical in retrospect. And the tone hits a wickedly funny groove as the starry cast, finally liberated from the obligation to play their characters’ cards close to the chest, dive headlong into snark, cruelty or heretofore undiscovered levels of Dgaf.
Alas, the bad news about The Perfect Couple is … most of the rest of it. Though it’s not an especially long watch, at just under six hours, the road leading up to that ending feels so interminable that I cannot, in clear conscience, recommend anyone take this journey just for the destination.
Besides, huge swaths of the series feel repurposed from better series you may have seen already.
