To kickstart their very Mission: Impossible focused CinemaCon presentation, Paramount first debuted the official trailer for their upcoming action-comedy The Naked Gun, a movie they are cheekily describing as "The single most important Naked Gun movie since the other Naked Gun movies."

It's a short teaser, featuring leading man Liam Neeson, as he intervenes during a bank heist, but you're going to have to just watch it to believe it. We also learn that he's playing Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Leslie Nielsen's Lt. Frank Drebin, who the film will honor and it seems like they'll do it in typical Naked Gun fashion.

The mood at Wednesday’s 40th anniversary Artios Awards may have been celebratory, but several casting directors acknowledged that Hollywood’s ongoing contraction is continuing to have a negative impact on their profession.

Before the awards show at the Beverly Hilton that paid tribute to the casting work on Wicked, A Complete Unknown, Emilia Pérez and Conclave, CDs privately lamented about the state of production in Los Angeles and how opportunities remain scarce.

“It’s been a hard time for a lot of folks in our industry,” Casting Society President Destiny Lilly tells Deadline. “There was the strikes and the recent fires which have been really devastating for people in this community. And there are still ripples from the pandemic. I think across the industry we’ve heard that there are fewer jobs and that affects casting professionals as well.”

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has a very strong fandom, but compared to many shows, it had a pretty small audience.

Over the past three years, Max Winkler has become near-synonymous with the expanding Ryan Murphy TV portfolio. After facing some stiff competition from rival networks, ABC is set to bring Rachel Bloom back to broadcast television. The co-creator and star of The CW's musical comedy-drama Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is developing Do You Want Kids?, a new single-camera series that she's once again set to lead in addition to co-writing. This time, however, her creative partner will be her husband, Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers and How I Met Your Mother writer Dan Gregor. Both will write the half-hour series with 20th Studios producing and Steve Levitan and Danielle Stokdyk executive producing through Levitan Productions.

Rachel Bloom and Dan Gregor’s “Do You Want Kids?” has landed a development deal at ABC, TheWrap has learned.

Married couple Bloom and Gregor are set to write and executive produce the half-hour comedy, with the “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” actress starring in the series as well. Steven Levitan and Danielle Stokdyk are also on board to EP via Levitan Productions.

“Do You Want Kids?,” which hails from 20th Television, centers on “a husband and wife who in one universe have a baby and the other do not, and the many ways that huge decision alters their lives,” per the official logline. Exclusive: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star Rachel Bloom is returning to broadcast with Do You Want Kids?, a comedy pitch that has landed at ABC for development in a competitive situation.

Bloom is set to star in the single-camera project, which she is writing with her husband, film and TV writer Dan Gregor. As Do You Want Kids? went to ABC, the half-hour will be produced by sibling 20th Television, with one of the top comedy producers on the studio’s roster, Steve Levitan, coming on board as an executive producer.

Do You Want Kids? is about a husband and wife who in one universe have a baby and the other do not, and the many ways that huge decision alters their lives.

In real life, Bloom and Gregor are in the first universe; the married couple has a child. They executive produce the project alongside Levitan and Danielle Stokdyk via Levitan Productions.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend started off as a fun musical, with a lot to say about mental health. Never preachy and always producing catchy songs, episode after episode, the shows best came from one particular character Greg. Initially played by Santino Fontana, Greg Serrano was the perfect foil for main character Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom), and mirrored her in his own struggles with mental health. After Fontana left the show early in the second season, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend lost its anchor from a talent and narrative perspective.

[Editor’s note: This interview contains very light spoilers for Rachel Bloom’s comedy special “Death, Let Me Do My Special.”]

Two-thirds of the way through her new Netflix special, Rachel Bloom is singing about ghosts. Dealing with death intruding on all aspects of her life, Bloom puts her spin on a ghost song: “I’m a bloody bride/ holding a knife/ but I’m also proof/ of an afterlife.” Ghosts are spooky, but Bloom knows there’s nothing quite as creepy as oblivion.

The tune is sharp, memorably off-kilter, and very, very funny. In other words, classic Bloom, working it out by remixing her anxieties into the kind of catchy comedy pop tunes that “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” fans have come to love.

Heartstopper is an amazing show that has gained a wide following, thanks to its upbeat tone, dynamic relationships, and willingness to address serious issues. Fans love to root for Nick and Charlie's love story, but they get just as much from seeing Nick's family tensions and Charlie's struggles with mental health.

Heartstopper season 3 just arrived on Netflix on Oct. 3, 2024, which gives fans 8 more episodes to swoon over. But it is still a relatively short show, and the show's crave-ability means that fans can run out of episodes after a couple of binge sessions. Once that happens, it's back to looking for shows to fill the hole it leaves until the next season.

On the up side, there are plenty of other shows out there to recommend. There's plenty of other great LGBTQ+ teen romances out there, like Young Royals, Love, Victor, and Sex Education. And those are all options worth checking out!

Throughout "Frasier" and its 1993-2004 run, one of the best recurring characters was Harriet Sansom Harris' Bebe Glazer. An unscrupulous, shrewish agent who Niles (David Hyde Pierce) once described as "Lady Macbeth without the sincerity," Bebe was always bringing some sort of media deal to Frasier that threatened to undermine his integrity while netting him (and Bebe) a large paycheck. But while she was conniving, manipulative, and often just flat-out ridiculous, Frasier's agent always maintained a dogged commitment to her client.

In order to do what she thought was best for Frasier, however, she would often come up with some of the most absurd schemes ever seen on the show. "Frasier" frequently dabbled in farce, which made for some delightfully unlikely scenarios. But whenever Bebe showed up, you knew the limits of credulity were about to be stretched even further.

Frasier performs a duet with a character who may be his daughter in a new clip. Frasier season 2 is a continuation of the reboot of the iconic 1990s sitcom, which premiered on Paramount+ in 2023. The show sees Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) returning to Boston and attempting to bond with his adult son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) after taking a job as a Harvard professor. The main cast of the show also includes Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salgueiro, Anders Keith, and Nicholas Lyndhurst.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Bloom teased what to expect from her character, Phoebe Glazer, the daughter of Frasier's agent Bebe Glazer (Harriet Sansom Harris) in Season 2 of the revival series. According to Glazer, Phoebe and Kelsey Grammer's titular character click instantly to the point that Dr. Crane wonders if they're related. I play Phoebe Glazer, a very cultured kind of opera fan, and she and Frasier instantly hit it off in a way that he questions if maybe they're related, Bloom said.

The good news about The Perfect Couple, Netflix’s adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s novel about a death at a wedding weekend, is that the finale is a blast.

The pacing is zippy. The solution is satisfying — hard to guess in the moment, yet perfectly logical in retrospect. And the tone hits a wickedly funny groove as the starry cast, finally liberated from the obligation to play their characters’ cards close to the chest, dive headlong into snark, cruelty or heretofore undiscovered levels of Dgaf.

Alas, the bad news about The Perfect Couple is … most of the rest of it. Though it’s not an especially long watch, at just under six hours, the road leading up to that ending feels so interminable that I cannot, in clear conscience, recommend anyone take this journey just for the destination.

Besides, huge swaths of the series feel repurposed from better series you may have seen already.
