James ‘Tim’ Norman, one of the stars of the OWN reality series Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s, has been sentenced to life in prison for arranging the hitman murder of his co-star and nephew Andrew Montgomery. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, last September, Norman was convicted on three counts related to the death of his nephew, including two federal murder-for-hire charges and one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud. Norman and Montgomery starred alongside one another on Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s, the reality series set around their family’s soul food business in St Louis. The show aired for nine seasons between 2011 and 2018. Prosecutors found that Norman arranged his nephew’s murder through intermediaries. Montgomery was shot on March 14, 2016; he was 21 years old. The panel concluded that Norman plotted the murder in an attempt to cash out on a $450,000 fraudulent life insurance policy that he had taken out on Montgomery months earlier.

New York — There's no business like small business.
Mix the high stakes of running a small business with a dash of family drama and throw in a camera crew and you get hit reality television shows such as "Pawn Stars," "Welcome to Sweetie Pie's" and "Duck Dynasty."
Turning small business owners into stars has become a winning formula for television producers, but some businesses featured in them are cashing in, too. Sales explode after just a few episodes air, transforming these nearly unknown small businesses into household names. In addition to earning a salary from starring in the shows, some small business owners are benefiting financially from opening gift shops that sell souvenirs or getting involved in other ventures that spawn from their new-found fame.
Sales at Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas are five times higher than they were before "Pawn Stars" first aired in 2009. More people are pouring into the St.

Lifetime's "Steel Magnolias" remake dominates the list of this year's NAACP Image Award nominees with seven nods, while "Django Unchained" and "Beasts of the Southern Wild" picked up four each in film categories, and "Grey's Anatomy" and "Treme" nabbed four in TV.
Designed to honor "the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film," the annual Image nominations reliably offer up some real headscratchers: Tyler Perry is a best actor contender for "Alex Cross"? Amber Riley is a lead actress on "Glee"? The critically acclaimed "Middle of Nowhere" isn't worth a mention as outstanding independent film?
But there's also welcome, and rare, recognition for HBO's "Treme," plus well-deserved nods across the board for "Django" and "Beasts."

Oprah Winfrey is calling on her friend Tyler Perry for a little help with her cable network Own.
Perry, the filmmaker and entrepreneur best known for his madcap comic character Madea, has entered an exclusive partnership with Own to make the network his "singular destination for all new television series and projects." That includes two new scripted series on track to premiere in mid 2013.
Perry's series will be Own's first step into the scripted world, and the deal comes at a time when the struggling network is on a ratings upswing. "Oprah's Next Chapter" has been a solid performer since its debut, garnering especially big numbers for high profile interviews with Rihanna in her home country of Barbados and the family of late singer Whitney Houston.
