Ever wish Hallmark Channel’s Christmas movies would go just a teensy bit further? A rated R (or even PG-13) film is likely never going to happen, says the cabler.
When asked during the network’s Television Critics Association press tour whether it would lean into more grown-up romance stories akin to what Lifetime aired this past holiday season, the question was met with a resounding “no.”

It took super feats of editing and some Bat-tastic luck for The CW’s Supergirl and Batwoman to pull off their early “season finales,” airing this Sunday night.
When all was said and done, Supergirl came up one episode short of Season 5’s 20-episode run, while Batwoman left two episodes on the table. But even those ersatz finales barely came together in time, given where each show was when the coronavirus pandemic paused production in mid-March.

Could Elliot Stabler be inching his way back to Law & Order: Svu‘s squad room?
Christopher Meloni‘s eventual return, for which many Svu fans have clamored for years, may be slightly closer to happening, given what showrunner Warren Leight tells TVLine exclusively. There are currently 500-plus scripted shows, so it’s impossible to sample everything. But way back in the 2000s — far simpler times! — what was my possible excuse for never having caught a single episode of Gilmore Girls?
There, I said it. (Though I’ve admitted it before, usually when Ausiello is on the other coast and out of earshot.) I have never seen Gilmore Girls. I don’t know Dean from… Jessie, is it? I know it’s set in Stars Hollow, and there’s a diner. Oh, and I once co-starred in an Ask Ausiello video with the Kelly Bishop.

Film journalists have already reacted in horror to the first trailer for Universal’s “Cats” musical adaptation, but that’s nothing compared to the overwhelming response from social media users. Less than 24 hours after the trailer’s debut, a viral meme mixing the “Cats” footage with popular music scores has taken over Twitter with terrifying results. One video that sets the “Cats” trailer to the “Us” remix of Luniz’s “I Got 5 On It” has exploded with over 1.8 million views, and best of all, it got director Jordan Peele’s seal of approval.
Other viral “Cats” trailer remixes set the footage to Mica Levi’s hypnotic “Under the Skin” score, Ben Salisbury and Geoff Barrow’s “Annihilation” score, and the music featured in Stanley Kubrick’s “Eyes Wide Shut.” And of course the “Cats” trailer got mashed up with the “Just want to take another look at you” moment from...

Among this year’s Emmy nominees for Best Music and Lyrics are Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. They’re in the running for their song “In the Market for a Miracle,” which was written for Fox’s telecast of “A Christmas Story Live!” last December. Back in 2012 the stage musical adaptation of the 1983 holiday classic marked the pair’s Broadway debut and earned both of them their very first Tony nomination the following year. Just six years later the Emmy is all the songwriting duo needs to complete their Egot grand slam of showbiz awards.
Pasek and Paul’s journey towards Egot officially began on February 26, 2017, when they won the Oscar for Best Original Song along with Justin Hurwitz for “City of Stars” from “La La Land.” They even came close to repeating earlier this year when they were nominated again for “This is Me” from “The Greatest Showman,” but...
