The Hulk is one of the strongest superheroes in the Marvel Universe. With sheer brute strength and rising anger, the green machine can take on any threat head-first. That is one of the reasons why many of the Avengers or the Illuminati call upon the Hulk whenever there is a particularly powerful threat, especially when it comes to Thanos.
The Hulk and the Mad Titan have fought a few times in the comics, although their hand-to-hand combats have been few and far between. Fans got to see a taste of their fight in Avengers: Infinity War as well. However, the recent comics see a much different outcome than in the film. In the ongoing Thanos (2023) comic book series, Hulk and Thanos face off against each other.

Founded by Maxwell Gaines in 1944, the Entertaining Comics brand (a.k.a. EC Comics) initially specialized in educational comics and stories aimed at children. But after Gaines died in a boating accident in ’47, his 25-year-old son William took control of the company and changed its direction, exploring the genres of horror, sci-fi, and satire while bringing us classic titles like Tales from the Crypt, The Vault of Horror, The Haunt of Fear, Weird Science, Weird Fantasy, and Mad. Sadly, EC Comics was at its peak when parents started to worry about the negative effects reading comic books could have on their children, leading to things like a Congressional hearing that blamed comic books for juvenile delinquency – a claim that was backed up by the book Seduction of the Innocent, written by psychiatrist Fredric Wertham. So by 1956, EC Comics ceased publishing all of their titles except for Mad. Those classic EC...

In the early 1950s, EC Comics was the bad boy of comic publishers. Its comics such as Tales From the Crypt, Weird Science and Two-Fisted Tales sold millions in mid-century America. Unfortunately, its stories — at times shocking, horrifying, and even progressive — also drew scrutiny and backlash, and the company found itself in the cross hairs of censorship and regulation at the height of the McCarthy era. The company ultimately shuttered, with the last comic hitting newsstands and drug stores in 1956.
Now, seventy years after the creation of the self-regulatory body Comics Code Authority, the infamous comics company is blasting out of the crypt and returning with a brand new line of comics.
Oni Press, the publisher perhaps best known for the breakout indie hit Scott Pilgrim, has partnered with William M. Gaines Agent, Inc., the rights holders of the EC line, to launch all-new stories with A-list comics creators beginning this summer.

Following a nearly five-year absence, AMC is revisiting anthology The Terror for a third cycle.
The basic-cable network on Tuesday, ahead of its time at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, announced that the horror franchise will return for a third season and will be subtitled Devil in Silver, with the new cycle based on the book of the same name by Victor Lavalle.
The author will team with Chris Cantwell (AMC’s own Halt and Catch Fire) to write the six-episode season, which is expected to air on the cabler in 2025.
AMC says Devil in Silver “tells the story of Pepper — a working-class moving man, who through a combination of bad luck and a bad temper, finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital — an institution filled with the people society would rather forget. There, he must contend with patients who work against him, doctors who harbor grim secrets,...

Early responses are beginning to come in regarding the details of the Directors Guild of America’s deal with studios and streamers, which were revealed on Wednesday night.
Amid a Writers Guild of America strike, and as performers’ union SAG-AFTRA negotiates with entertainment companies represented by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers following its own strike authorization, the DGA reached a tentative pact it called “historic.” Some of its members aren’t so sure.
During a Zoom meeting to explain the deal to membership on Thursday, DGA leadership justified the timing of the pact, struck on June 3. “We went as late as one could go within our window” and negotiated for one day later than planned, one guild executive told The Hollywood Reporter, seemingly addressing criticism that the DGA pulled the trigger too quickly rather than holding out for more leverage.

As the writers strike rages on and writer-directors are facing tough choices about which work they will or will not do, the Directors Guild of America has issued some new guidance on members’ rights and responsibilities when it comes to minor or incidental script changes.
The message, sent to members on Wednesday, drills down on a series of specific responsibilities the WGA considers a form of writing and has banned during the strike, called “(a) through (h)” duties. These services, which include cutting for time and small changes to dialogue made during or before production, are allowed to be performed by non-writers per the WGA’s contract, even though the union has said it considers them writing work. During the strike, the WGA has taken the position that “hyphenates” (writers who also work in other capacities, such as directors, actors and producers) cannot perform (a) through (h) services for a struck company.

Brutally killing the Ferengi Sneed to rescue Picard’s associate Raffi, Worf enters in a manner becoming of a Klingon warrior. Clearly, a lot has happened to the Son of Mogh since his time on The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. And while the penultimate episode of Picard hints toward some of those years (“That was not my fault”), many questions remain.

Don’t know about you, but I reached a saturation point with Norman Osborn some time ago. Although a great villain, as originally conceived and created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko nearly 60 years ago, writers have struggled to do anything original with him for quite some time. He’s been split personality, downright evil, an anti-hero, a government figure, a business leader, and just a father. He’s been the Green Goblin, Iron Patriot, Red Goblin, plain old Norman Osborn, and now the Gold Goblin. I suspect I’d have a split personality after all that.
This book caught my eye as I wanted to see if Marvel are again just turning the wheel and we’ll end up with big bad Norman, or if this redemption arc we started to see in Spider-Man is real and lasting.

The Silver Coin #14 Written by Pornsak Pichetshote | Art by Michael Walsh
2020 was a bad year. Whilst the world struggles with the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Darren and Lauren’s relationship is breaking down. The pandemic has scuppered Lauren’s film work and Darren’s scriptwriting career is stalling, arguments are commonplace and Darren becomes increasingly jealous of Lauren’s relationship with her friend Colton.
Interspersed with their domestic troubles, Darren has horrific visions of Colton torturing Lauren. The demonic Puritan also makes an appearance to see if Darren is the one he is seeking. But as Darren fights back against them, a little silver coin makes an appearance in a monumental ending!

Christopher Cantwell, who co-created the series Halt and Catch Fire for AMC, is now set to serve as showrunner on a horror anthology called The Devil in Silver that’s in development at the network. Devil in Silver was created by Victor Lavalle and is based on his novel of the same name. According to Deadline, season 1 of this anthology will center on
Pepper, a working class man from Queens who, through a combination of bad luck and a bad temper, finds himself wrongfully committed to a psychiatric hospital. There, he must contend with other patients, doctors who harbor dark secrets of their own, and perhaps even a true and even more terrifying evil.

AMC Networks has opened up writers’ rooms for two planned horror shows for AMC+, Deadline reports this afternoon, which are titled “Seconds” and “The Devil in Silver.”
Deadline notes, “They are being developed under AMC Networks’ established “scripts-to-series” model, which involves opening writers’ rooms to develop prospective shows, including generating multiple scripts, for straight-to-series consideration.”
Interesting to note, “Seconds” is actually a reimagining of the John Frankenheimer movie from 1966, which starred Rock Hudson and centered on plastic surgery.
The AMC+ series is said to be a “radical reimagining of the cult classic with a female lead at its center.” The project is based on the novel by David Ely, as well as the 1966 film.
Mark Lafferty (“Halt and Catch Fire”) is the creator/showrunner of AMC’s “Seconds.”
In the upcoming series, when Claire Munro’s world is suddenly turned upside down, she’s given a chance to start life over with a clean slate.

Exclusive: AMC Networks has identified its next two strong series contenders. The company is opening writers’ rooms for Seconds, a radical reimagining of the cult classic with a female lead at its center, and psychological horror story The Devil In Silver, envisioned as the first installment in a potential anthology franchise.
The projects both hail from creative auspices behind cult AMC drama Halt and Catch Fire and are part of AMC Networks’ focus on producing premium content targeting adults for AMC+, some of it with a genre bent, which is the case with the two new horror-themed prospects. They are being developed under AMC Networks’ established “scripts-to-series” model, which involves opening writers’ rooms to develop prospective shows, including generating multiple scripts, for straight-to-series consideration. The two projects, for which AMC commissioned writers rooms last year, Invitation to a Bonfire and Demascus, both went to series.

Amazon Prime Video has canceled “Paper Girls” after one season.
The series was produced by Amazon Studios and Legendary Television in association with Plan B. It is based on the graphic novel series of the same name written by Brian K. Vaughan, illustrated by Cliff Chiang and published by Image Comics.
“Paper Girls” begins in the early morning hours after Halloween 1988, when four newspaper delivery girls — Erin (Riley Lai Nelet), Mac (Sofia Rosinsky), Tiffany (Camryn Jones), and Kj (Fina Strazza) — are out on their route when they become caught in the crossfire between warring time-travelers, changing the course of their lives forever. Transported into the future, they must figure out a way to get back home to the past, a journey that will bring them face-to-face with the grown-up versions of themselves. While reconciling that their futures are far different than their 12-year-old selves imagined, they are being hunted by...

Paper Girls is no more. Amazon’s adaptation of the best-selling graphic novels written by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Cliff Chiang may have received positive reviews, but reviews aren’t everything. Deadline has reported that Paper Girls has been cancelled after just one season on Prime Video.
The coming-of-age sci-fi series kicks off in the early morning of the day after Halloween in 1988 and follows four young women who find themselves transported to the future where they encounter grown-up versions of themselves. Despite the cancellation, Paper Girls may not be totally dead. Sources told Deadline that Legendary TV plans on shopping the series around. The series dropped on Prime Video last month, but some feel that it never got a fair shake as Amazon was in the midst of a massive marketing campaign for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

The 1980s pop culture phenomenon Max Headroom is getting a reboot at AMC. Original star Matt Frewer will reprise his role as the world’s first artificial intelligence TV personality, with Halt and Catch Fire co-creator Christopher Cantwell serving as writer and showrunner. The reboot will be produced by Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah’s SpectreVision and All3Media, according to Deadline. The character was first seen in the TV movie Max Headroom: 20 Minutes in the Future, which was then developed into a TV series in the United States. Max was known for biting commentary on topical issues, his arrogant wit, stuttering, and a pitch-shifting voice. The character was advertised as “computer-generated,” but it was Frewer playing him with the help of creative costumes, lighting, and editing effects. After shooting into popularity with the TV movie, the character appeared in commercials, hosted a music-video show, was referenced across many shows and...

If you thought the matrix was glitching before, wait’ll Max Headroom is back onscreen.
The 1980s pseudo-artificial-intelligence talking head is in development as a drama series at AMC, TheWrap has confirmed. Matt Frewer, who has portrayed the glitchy video jockey (and his human counterpart Edison Carter) since 1985, will re-render the role.
Christopher Cantwell, co-creator of the AMC computer drama “Halt and Catch Fire,” is writing and attached as showrunner, according to Deadline, which first reported the news. Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah are producing via SpectreVision and All3Media.
Between the quantum leaps in VFX and modern de-aging techniques, bringing Max Headroom back to life – even with a 64-year-old Frewer – will be the easy part. More challenging: constructing a narrative around a character who is immensely well-known and popular, but for years has bounced from medium to medium without really landing a major hit.
