Eliot Spitzer When Spitzer was elected New York State Attorney General in 1999, he credited the win to his appearances on CNBC’s “Rivera Live.” Hosted by Geraldo Rivera, the show focused mostly on the Oj Simpson trial. Spitzer then went on to become Governor of the Empire State in 2007, a term that ended a year later when he found himself embroiled in a prostitution scandal. In 2010, Spitzer joined CNN where he anchored a short-lived talk show with journalist Kathleen Parker. Nancy Grace The host of Hln’s “Nancy Grace” got her big break doing commentary on legal shows just as the Oj Simpson trial.

On Sunday, NBC’s Chris Matthews and his guests discussed the political prospects of the two leading Democratic politicians who may seek to succeed President Barack Obama in 2016. The Washington Post’s conservative columnist Kathleen Parker said she thought it was possible, even likely, that Hillary Clinton would not run for president in 2016. When asked why, she said that not running would be her “ultimate revenge” against President Bill Clinton.

After months of promotion HBO's film on Sarah Palin and the 2008 campaign, Game Change, will air (finally) this weekend. Conservatives (including Palin, who has not seen the movie) claim that the film is completely unfair and mainly fiction, plus a valentine to Obama from Democratic Hollywood. But the filmmakers say it's (sadly) all fact, except that Julianne Moore plays Palin even better than Palin played Palin.
The only thing surprising to me is that anyone at this late date would be surprised by any embarrassing facts about Palin. The truth has been known almost within hours of McCain lifting her out of obscurity back at the end of August 2008. There even persists in some quarters (including elements of mainstream media) the fantasy that Palin actually boosted McCain and drew support from women voters, when the facts (and the polls) always ran in the opposite direction.

On Sunday's Meet The Press, host David Gregory wrapped up the show by asking conservative columnist Kathleen Parker about presidential hopeful Mitt Romney's inability to "connect" with voters, specifically his remark about his wife's Cadillacs. Parker agreed, adding that "we can also unanimously conclude that Mitt Romney, for all of his good qualities, is a dork." Either Parker doesn't know what a "dork" is, or she was calling Romney a whale penis.

Mitt Romney, fresh off his win in Florida, appeared on Starting Point with Soledad O'Brien to discuss his strategy going forward. At one point during the interview, O'Brien asked Romney about a recent poll that had him trailing President Barack Obama when it comes to "understanding the needs of average Americans" as well as a Washington Post column by Kathleen Parker that opined voters "can't connect" with Romney.

BBC World News anchor Katty Kay got off a cheeky one-liner that had her fellow Chris Matthews Show panelists chuckling (and in Kathleen Parker's case, perhaps blushing) when she assessed Florida's importance in electoral politics by saying "It's very big, and it swings." That's probably true, but it's fair to ask what good that does, given the state's history of electile dysfunction.

Many, perhaps even dozens, of Americans tuned in to CNN at eight p.m. last night for the big finale of In the Arena with Eliot Spitzer. Though the show will continue to limp along Spitzerlessly until August 8, when it will be replaced by Anderson Cooper, yesterday evening was the last appearance of the beloved “arrogant former New York governor” character. “I thought the best way to sign off was . . . ,” Spitzer began. See if you can guess how the sentence ended. A. “ . . . to give the show to David Paterson for the rest of the summer until someone who wants the job will take over.” B. “ . . . to make this face.” C. “ . . . to apologize to Kathleen Parker for whatever she thinks I did to her.” D. “ . . . with a quotation from Theodore Roosevelt.” E. All of the above.

In a statement to the New York Times, Spitzer wrote, "We engaged serious people in conversations about national and global issues in a way that was informative and challenging. I believe that we provided diverse and valuable perspectives during the show's tenure."

The birther craziness, along with the innuendo about Obama's grades and the purging of dissenters, revealed a deep Gop divide that risks undermining the party going into 2012, says Howard Kurtz.

The cable news net confirmed the news Friday, saying the conservative syndicated columnist wanted to get back to her political column (instead of putting up with her more aggressive liberal counterpart). Parker/Spitzer debuted last Oct. 4 drawing scathing reviews from TV critics and a tepid audience. Starting Monday, Spitzer will helm a revamped show, retitled In the Arena, that will include various newsmakers, guests and contributors.

Sniper rifles are awesome. But there’s never really been a great sniper movie, besides Enemy at the Gates, which unfortunately gets really bad when anyone besides Ron Perlman starts talking. A filmmaker’s natural instinct is to make a sniper action movie, and a sniper rifle isn’t really an action-movie weapon at all. Sniper rifles conjure up tension, not shoot-em-up thrills: You know the shot’s going to come sooner or later, but the characters onscreen are mostly clueless. Piers Morgan, finally confirmed Wednesday as veteran talk show host Larry King's replacement, spoke to THR after last month's Emmys and again Wednesday morning, along with CNN president Jonathan Klein. What should viewers expect from the new primetime show, to kick off this January? Morgan wants to get CNN back to No. 1 in the ratings without being an opinionated pundit like Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly. He also has a few ideas for his first guests. Read more on Hibberd's Live Feed blog.
THR: You have a tougher interviewing reputation than Larry King. Do you plan to bring that to CNN?
Morgan: I've always disputed that Larry is in any way a softball interviewer. In his very stylish crafty way, he's always been brilliant at getting stuff out of people, so I've always admired him hugely. Although I'm a different kind of interviewer, we share the same thing -- a fascination about people,...

CNN has made it official: Reality TV personality Piers Morgan will replace Larry King.
The network will launch a primetime interview program in January hosted by the "America's Got Talent" judge.
The British-born Morgan has long had a journalism career in the U.K. as a newspaper editor at the Daily Mirror and host of the program "Piers Morgan's Life Stories." CNN struck a deal with NBC that will allow Morgan to continue his work on "Got Talent." He's also expected to continue hosting "Life Stories."
Sources say Morgan's shift in the U.S. from reality talent to replacing the veteran interviewer started more than a year ago, with Morgan meeting with former NBC co-chair Ben Silverman about the possibility of doing primetime interview shows.
In January, Morgan's agent John Ferriter at Octagon Entertainment approached CNN about the idea of Morgan doing an interview show on the network.

Eliot Spitzer, former New York governor and Lunchtime Poll favorite, is headlining a new show on CNN alongside Kathleen Parker, a conservative columnist with no recorded affiliation with any prostitution rings that we know of. Their show isn’t going to be like those other stuffy political shows. It’s going to be fun. Flirtatious. And maybe just a little bit…naughty? For evidence, check out this preview clip, where Spitzer and Parker adorably squabble over the name of their show (while something like the theme song from Night Court plays in the background). They’re like an old married...

Eliot Spitzer and Kathleen Parker's new CNN show will be called “Parker/Spitzer” and premiere Oct. 4, it was announced by the network Tuesday.
In a clip posted on CNN.com, the former governor of New York, who stepped down in March 2008 after it had been revealed he hired a prostitute, and Parker, who writes a nationally syndicated column, flirt while sparring about what to name their show.
Spitzer says he'd prefer to title the show "Spitzer/Parker," before joking that he'll concedes to "Parker/Spitzer."
Last June, CNN announced that Spitzer would co-host a political debate show with Parker, to air at 8 p.m. Et.
"Other cable news channels force-feed viewers one narrow, predictable point of view; in contrast, CNN will be offering a lively roundup of all the best ideas - presented by two of the most intelligent and outspoken figures in the country," CNN/U.S. president...

Toronto -- Tribeca may have offered a sneak peek, but the Toronto International Film Festival has the world premiere of Alex Gibney's "Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer" from Magnolia Pictures.
Oscar-winning Gibney's latest documentary about the sex scandal that enveloped the former New York governor, and which includes an on-camera interview with Spitzer and some of the players that brought about his political downfall, was billed as a "work-in-progress" at Tribeca.
Now Toronto gets Gibney's finished doc ahead of a Nov. 5 theatrical release, and Spitzer getting a CNN primetime newshow gig this fall alongside Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Kathleen Parker.
"Client 9" also figured Wednesday among 25 factual films unveiled by fest organizers as part of Toronto's Real to Reel, Masters and Sprockets Family Zone sidebars.
The fest booked a gala world premiere at Roy Thomson Hall for "The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town,...

The New York Post is reporting that CNN is on the verge of letting go of John King, the titular host of John King, USA. A source tells the paper that King has lost around half the audience of his predecessor, the perpetually paranoid, chipmunk-cheeked Lou Dobbs. According to the Post, “[a]n insider said CNN brass are fretting because King's anemic lead-in doomed the 8 p.m. show of Campbell Brown, who's leaving at the end of the month and will be replaced after Labor Day by Eliot Spitzer and Kathleen Parker.” CNN has in turn responded that the whispers that King will be dethroned are “not true.” Still, it is not the first time that rumors of the show’s demise have surfaced: in April, “John King USA gathered the lowest number of 25- to 54-year-old viewers, the key demo for news, for that hour of CNN. (It was the...

The next head to roll at CNN will be John King's, insiders say. "Since King replaced Lou Dobbs, he's lost more than half his audience," one source told us. "If it were a fight, it would be stopped on a Tko because of the bleeding." In April, Washington Post TV critic Tom Shales quoted a producer as saying King's show was attracting "only friends and relatives." An insider said CNN brass are fretting because King's anemic lead-in doomed the 8 p.m. show of Campbell Brown, who's leaving at...

Washington Post columnist Kathleen Parker has heard the complaints against her latest piece, "Obama: Our First Female President," loud and clear, and has issued a star-studded Fourth of July response piece admitting she stepped over the line complaining that people are too sensitive, and also pointing out that she is allowed to call Obama a girl because surprise, they're cousins!

Apparently Kathleen Parker, WaPo columnist and newly minted CNN host, swallowed a MoDo pill yesterday. How else to explain her column pondering whether Barack Obama is our first female president (listen closely, that's Hillary Clinton ripping the wood off of whatever podium she's at today). Parker's column may lack the trite comparisons to fictional cartoon characters, however the message is the same: Obama is too girly.

Larry King is stepping down from his long-time home as the anchor of CNN's prime-time lineup.
CNN/U.S. president Jon Klein says in a memo that "Larry King Live" will end in the fall, with King going out "on his own terms." Klein also notes that King isn't retiring or leaving CNN: "Larry is a beloved member of the CNN family, and he will continue to contribute to our air with periodic specials," the memo reads.
King will announce his departure on his show Tuesday night (June 29).
King had already had a long career in broadcasting when "Larry King Live" launched on CNN in June 1985. It has aired in the 9 p.m. Et timeslot for its entire run; no other talk show has kept the same host and the same time period for as long.
There has been speculation in recent weeks that CNN was looking to remake its prime-time lineup,...

In January 2009, I wrote a media predictions piece for the Daily Beast, writing: ”If 2009 isn’t the year of the black media star, then we are all doing something wrong.” Needless to say, it was not. Neither is 2010. In fact, with new shows being given to people like Eliot Spitzer, Kathleen Parker and Lawrence O’Donnell, it’s moving in the opposite direction.

CNN took the first step in rebuilding its struggling primetime lineup by naming former New York governor Eliot Spitzer and conservative columnist Kathleen Parker as the co-hosts of a new roundtable discussion program. The still to be named show will replace Campbell Brown in the 8 p.m. Et hour in the early fall. Spitzer resigned from his office in 2008 amid a sex scandal that revealed he used prostitutes. Is America's cable news audience ready to embrace him as a liberal commentator sitting across from the Pulitzer Prize winner Parker? The Biz chatted with the pair shortly after the new show was announced...
