The untitled “Goonies” reenactment pilot and “Blood Relative” are no longer moving ahead at Fox, Variety has learned.
The two projects were holdovers from Fox’s 2020 pilot season that were delayed in shooting due to the pandemic. The decision to ax “Blood Relative” comes as something of a surprise, given that it starred Oscar winner Melissa Leo in the lead role. The move also comes as Fox has given out two series orders from its drama pilot slate already: one for “The Cleaning Lady” starring Elodie Yung and another for the dance drama “The Big Leap.”
Fox has also ordered an animated comedy set in ancient Greece from Dan Harmon, the drama “Our Kind of People” from Karin Gist and Lee Daniels, and the mockumentary series “This County.”

Tracie Thoms (Truth Be Told) and Sarah Catherine Hook (Conjuring 3) also have been cast as series regulars in the forensic genealogy-themed crime drama from writer-producer Chris Levinson and producer Liza Chasin. While some networks are scaling back on pilots, Fox is forging ahead with all six on their roster.
They aim to film a pilot for each before making a final decision.
We've got some information on each one, below.
The Big Leap
A journey of self-acceptance, body-positivity, and empowerment at any age.
The Big Leap follows a diverse group of underdogs from all different walks of life compete to be part of a competition reality series that is putting on a modern, hip remake of 'Swan Lake.'
What they lack in the traditional dancer body type, they make up for with their edge, wit, and desire to reimagine an iconic story to fit their own mold. Inspired by the UK format 'Big Ballet.'
Blood Relative
Genetic genealogy is the best new tool in crime-scene forensics, and nobody knows it like Louise Kelly. Too bad she’s impossible to deal with.

Melissa Leo has been set as the lead of Fox’s crime drama pilot “Blood Relative.”
The project from Chris Levinson and Liza Chasin is based on James Renner’s article “Beyond the Jungle of Bad: The True Story of Two Women from California Who Are Solving All the Mysteries” and follows Louise Kelly (Leo), an expert in genetic genealogy.
Here’s the official description for the Academy Award winner’s character:
Lou Kelly is… difficult. With an Iq in the 190s, Lou wrote the book on genetic genealogy and can trace anyone if she has a viable tissue sample to play with – John and Jane Does, errant husbands, long-lost children, murderers in hiding, anyone with a secret life. But Lou has a habit of burning bridges as she goes. Sarcastic, sardonic, irritable and confrontational, she’s the smartest person in the room with no time to explain her methods to average folks.

Depending on who's telling the tale, it's either called the “Loveland Lizard” or the “Loveland Frog”... but one thing all the sightings have in common is the description of a squat, greenish creature with leathery skin and webbed hands & feet that's said to be lurking in the woodlands around Loveland, Ohio. Image: Scary for Kids The first sighting of the Loveland Monster (or monsters, plural) is dated 1955, from a man who glimpsed a family of small, squat humanoids with wrinkled skin and frog-like faces huddled beneath a bridge; the man also said the creatures secreted a mucus-like substance, and one of them carried some kind of weapon that emitted sparks. The next significant sighting came in 1972, when police reported seeing a similar creature roughly three or four feet tall, but resembling a lizard more than a frog; also the beast was said to be covered in matted hair and possibly had a small tail.

One of the main attractions at this year’s Comicpalooza in Houston—in addition to appearances by the likes of Patrick Stewart, Michelle Rodriguez and Danny Trejo—was the three-day Dollar Baby Film Festival organized by Shawn S. Lealos.
What’s a “Dollar Baby?” It’s a short film based on a Stephen King story or novella. For decades, King has allowed people to acquire limited film rights to an available story for one dollar. The resulting movies cannot be released on the internet or shown at for-profit venues, which limits their availability to festivals like this one. The filmmakers can include their movies on clip reels as calling cards. King also gets a copy of the finished product. The quality of these adaptations is all over the map, but the increased availability of affordable digital cameras and video editing software means that the community is growing by leaps and bounds.

Bradley Cooper hot off the success of Silver Linings Playbook, has been cast in the big screen adaptation of James Renner's novel The Man From Primrose Lane being developed by Warner Bros. The script will be written by Chad Feehan, a "Southland" writer whose script Beyond The Pale made the Black List.

The closer Neff comes to uncovering the true identity of the Man from Primrose Lane, the more he discovers his own dangerous connection to the series of crimes. He realizes in order to end the cycle of death and capture the killer he must look outside the parameters of what he believed to be true about time and space.

Most actors get a significant career boost when they receive their first Oscar nomination, but the truth of the matter is that Bradley Cooper doesn't really need it. On top of the stellar performance he gave in Silver Linings Playbook, he is already one of the biggest A-listers in Hollywood, was named People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive in 2011, has the second sequel in the massively successful Hangover franchise coming out later this year, and constantly has job offers pouring in. Like, for example, this one. According to Deadline, Cooper is now attached to star in and produce the upcoming adaptation of the James Renner novel The Man From Primrose Lane. Recently acquired by Warner Bros., the project has Southland writer Chad Feehan attached to write the adaptation. The story is about a true-crime writer named David Neff who finds himself at the center of a "chain of serial murders" while...

Okay, so maybe he's not doing that J.J. Abrams produced Lance Armstong movie, but here's something that's definitely on the plate for Bradley Cooper. A crime story that bends space and time. Say, what? Warner Bros. has snapped up the rights to James Renner's novel "The Man From Primrose Lane," with plans to develop it as a vehicle for Cooper who will co-produce. Chad Feehan ("Paranormal Activity 4"), who landed on the Black List with "Beyond The Pale," will pen the script that centers on a man in an investigation into a series of murders, who is more connected to the crimes than he thought, and goes to some rather ... inventive ends to get some answers. Here's the Amazon synopsis: In West Akron, Ohio, there lived a reclusive elderly man who always wore mittens, even in July. He had no friends and no family; all over town, he was...
