Hiroyuki Sanada has wrapped up his scenes for Mortal Kombat 2 in Australia, just in time for the holidays. He’s reprising his role as Scorpion, the unforgettable cursed ninja from the first film. Sanada let slip that we’re in for a treat with both well-loved characters and some thrilling newcomers making their way into the sequel.
In the original Mortal Kombat, we delved into Scorpion’s heart-wrenching backstory and his ties to Cole Young, portrayed by Lewis Tan. Though Scorpion seemed to find solace, the sequel is shaking things up with fresh villains that have connections to his family’s history. Sanada is buzzing about the blend of old and new faces, assuring fans that this sequel is set to entertain.

There are many weapons in FromSoftware’s Elden Ring that the player can choose from to defeat enemies in the game. Many of these often turn out to be way too overpowered, causing them to become the center of many player’s builds.
There is also a great number of weapons out of these that not only deal physical damage but at the same time cause a build-up of effects such as poison and blood loss. Scarlet Rot is one such effect that the player can be affected by, and there are many different ways one can use to afflict the rot effect on their opponent.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla (formerly known as Camilla Parker Bowles) have been in the headlines a lot since January when it was announced that the king had a procedure for an enlarged prostate. Meanwhile, his wife had been amping up her royal duties while the monarch was out of commission. Then, on Feb. 5, the Palace announced that tests found the king has “a form of cancer.” It was reported that Camilla was instrumental in King Charles going public with his diagnosis and he has begun receiving treatment.
Now, a celebrity astrologer is revealing what the couple’s “primary love languages” for one another are.

Back in November of 2021, Marvel Studios announced they were making an animated Spider-Man series for the Disney+ streaming service that would be called Spider-Man: Freshman Year (with a second season that would be called Spider-Man: Sophomore Year). So, Mortal Kombat took the fighting game by storm, and made it a worthy opponent to Capcom’s Street Fighter II. The obvious question after that is: How do you follow up that success? The obvious answer came in November 1993 with Mortal Kombat II. Was it more of the same? Not quite. Building upon the framework of the original game, Mkii honed what made the original game so great, added more Kombatants, more Fatalities, more secrets, and in general just gave fans more of what they craved in pixelated blood.
Mortal Kombat II picks up after the events of the previous tournament, where Shaolin warrior Liu Kang had defeated both the reigning Mortal Kombat champion Goro and the shapeshifting sorcerer Shang Tsung. Shang is brought before his master, Shao Kahn, the supreme ruler of Outworld, begging Kahn to spare his life. Shao Kahn relents after hearing Shang Tsung’s new...

Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid is back at the helm for the sequel Mortal Kombat 2, which started filming at the end of June… then had to shut down production when the Screen Actors Guild strike hit a couple weeks later. That strike came to an end last week, and it was rumored that Mortal Kombat 2 would go back into production in early 2024. When producer Todd Garner saw that rumor, he tweeted, “This is not true. We are filming before then…” Way before then, as it turns out. Garner and cast member Karl Urban have both confirmed that Mortal Kombat 2 is already filming again!
Urban confirmed by sharing a picture that shows him hanging out with some of his castmates. You can check it out at the bottom of this article.

Any longtime Spider-Man fans would be forgiven for sighing after watching the first trailer for Madame Web. Not because of its PG-13 horror tones or soap opera vibes (both familiar parts of superhero comics).
No, they cringe because of the movie’s big bad, Ezekiel Sims. Throughout the trailer, Dakota Johnson’s Cassandra Webb finds herself hunted by what appears to be a black-suited Spider-Man, whom she eventually recognizes as researcher Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim). For most viewers, the trailer serves as their introduction to Sims. But fans of the Spider-Man comics might recall him from the days long before guys like Paul drove readers nuts.
Ezekiel Sims debuted in The Amazing Spider-Man #30 (2001), written by J. Michael Straczynski and penciled by John Romita Jr.. Straczynski reimagined Spidey’s origin not as a fluke accident when a random radioactive spider bit Pete on the hand, nor even as a larger conspiracy.

It’s been two years since the release of the live action Mortal Kombat reboot, and a sequel is on the way soon. Filming on Mortal Kombat 2 actually kicked off earlier this summer, you may recall, but it didn’t last long due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes going on at the time. But have no fear, because production on the movie sequel gets back underway real soon.
Responding to a report this week that suggested Mortal Kombat 2 will begin filming in early 2024, producer Todd Garner notes on Twitter that it’s actually kicking off even sooner.
“This is not true. We are filming before then,” Garner teases.
He writes in a follow-up tweet, “I promise I will keep the Mk Kommunity posted as soon as I have info on start date, etc. Everyone else is just speculating… or posting for clicks.”

Richard Moll, who played bald-headed bailiff Aristotle Nostradamus “Bull” Shannon on the NBC sitcom “Night Court,” died Thursday, a family spokesman said on Friday.
The 80-year-old passed away peacefully at his home in Big Bear Lake, California.
The 6’8″ actor rose to fame on the courtroom comedy, which starred Harry Anderson and John Larroquette and ran from 1984 to 1992. He did not appear in the recent Peacock reboot.
After “Night Court,” he landed a recurring role on the NBC sitcom starring Cindy Williams. He also guested on “Babylon 5,” “Anger Management,” “Cold Case,” “Smallville,” “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” and “7th Heaven.”

There’s one classic Spider-Man villain that Sony Pictures actively prevented from appearing in No Way Home.
In the final film that audiences saw, both Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures pulled together five previous villains from the franchise’s history and teamed up against Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Sandman, Lizard, and Electro all showed up. Needless to say, it resulted in a spectacle—one that is often claimed to be the best MCU outing in recent years.
Had those baddies not grouped up, what other options could have played out? Perhaps the dangling Scorpion subplot could have been resolved, or Kingpin might’ve made himself known to the wallcrawler.

It took more than 20 years, but it's finally happening: Jean-Claude Van Damme is coming to "Mortal Kombat." This is not a drill! Warner Bros. Games released a new trailer for the upcoming "Mortal Kombat 1," the latest entry in the long-running fighting game series. It focuses on Van Damme, who will be portraying a version of fan-favorite Johnny Cage in the game with a special character skin. It's a fitting role for the star of such movies as "Bloodsport" and "Kickboxer," and they are letting the actor unleash his skills in an appropriately brutal fashion.
The trailer (which you can check out below) shows off Van Damme's version of Cage absolutely whipping ass in various fights. Those signature kicks are on full display, with extra bloody results. We even get to see him teaming up with Scorpion a few times for some wildly brutal, over-the-top finishing moves. It's Van Damme in...

A couple weeks ago, Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid rounded out the cast of the sequel – which is apparently simply titled Mortal Kombat II. Last weekend, we saw a picture of several cast members in a restaurant together. And now Ludi Lin (who plays Liu Kang in these new films) took to Instagram to reveal that filming has officially started! He shared pictures of a clapperboard and his salad, and those can be seen at the bottom of this article.

Producer James Wan revealed last night on Ig that filming is officially underway on Mortal Kombat 2, which has Simon McQuoid returning to the director’s seat from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater (“The Exorcist,” “Moon Knight”).
Martyn Ford (“The Sandman”), Desmond Chiam (“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”), Ana Thu Nguyen (Suka) and Damon Herriman (House of Wax, The Nightingale) signed on a few weeks ago to play Shao Kahn, Edenian King Jerrod, Queen Sindel, and Netherrealm demon Quan Chi respectively.
It’s interesting to note that Herriman previously voiced the role of Kabal in the 2021 film.
Newcomers to the sequel also include Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Tati Gabrielle as Jade and Adeline Rudolph as Kitana.
Plot details remain scarce for the sequel, though the new cast additions continue to signal a bigger, bloodier affair packed with fatalities.

Mortal Kombat 2 recently started filming in Australia and producer Todd Garner shared a photo of the cast enjoying a meal. If you take a look at the photo, you’ll see Karl Urban sporting some frosted tips and a more clean-shaven face to play Johnny Cage.

Johnny Cage is an action movie star and martial artist who first appeared in the original Mortal Kombat game released in 1992. The character didn’t appear in the recent Mortal Kombat movie, but a post-credit scene teased that he would be on his way. It was announced earlier this year that Karl Urban was in talks to play Johnny Cage. I’m excited to see the actor in costume for the first time, but I have no doubt that he’s going to knock the role out of the park.

Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid is returning to the helm for the sequel that we’ll refer to as Mortal Kombat 2 until someone tells us otherwise. Filming on this follow-up is expected to begin soon (unless the writers strike causes a delay), and over the last month and a half McQuoid has been steadily building up his cast. The Boys star Karl Urban has been cast to play Johnny Cage; Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) is set to play Princess Kitana; and Tati Gabrielle (You) is taking on the role of Jade, the friend and bodyguard of Princess Kitana. Now Deadline reports that four more actors have joined the cast, filling the roles of Outworld emperor Shao Kahn, Kahn’s wife Queen Sindel, Netherrealm demon Quan Chi, and Jerrod, who was the King of Edenia (and married to Sindel) until Edenia’s warriors lost in the Mortal Kombat tournament.

The cast continues to grow for big screen sequel Mortal Kombat 2, adding four new cast members to play popular characters from the video game series.
Deadline reports today that Martyn Ford (“The Sandman”), Desmond Chiam (“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”), Ana Thu Nguyen (Suka) and Damon Herriman have signed on to play Shao Kahn, Edenian King Jerrod, Queen Sindel, and Netherrealm demon Quan Chi respectively.
It’s interesting to note that Herriman previously voiced the role of Kabal in the 2021 film.
Plot details remain scarce for the sequel, though the new cast additions continue to signal a bigger, bloodier affair packed with fatalities.

They say that two heads are better than one, but when it comes to 2024’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse sequel, it could be a case of six heads are better than one. A wild theory has emerged that the infamous Sinister Six will be the big bads of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, and if you were watching Across the Spider-Verse closely, the lineup could’ve been hiding in plain sight.
Across the Spider-Verse cast Jason Schwartzman’s Spot as the main villain, but alongside a smorgasbord of Spider-People, you might’ve spotted Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, Donald Glover’s live-action debut as Prowler, and more obscure foes like Mooseterio from Earth-8311. Away from equally ominous theories that Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac) will emerge as a vampiric villain in Beyond the Spider-Verse, the Sinister Six get an actual nod in the movie’s jaw-dropping finale.

Netflix has released its weekly chart of how movies and television series have been doing on the streamer, with the Jennifer Lopez action-thriller remaining in #1 over the Top 10 English film chart for the week of May 22, its third week in that position. Read on for this week’s analysis.
Before we get to the movies, it’s quite notable that Arnold Schwarzenegger made his debut on the streamer in a rare live action series called “Fubar,” created by Nick Santora (“Scorpion”), which debuted atop the English TV list with 88.9 million hours viewed, easily the most-viewed series of the week. It entered the Top 10 in 90 countries and was the #1 watched series in the United States, Canada and dozens of other countries across the globe.
It still received some stiff competition from the “All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” spin-off series, “Xo, Kitty,” its first season getting 63.8 million hours viewed last...

The 2023 PlayStation Showcase was a bit of a disappointment. Sure, plenty of our predictions came true, but the whole event was a very “meh” affair. Quite frankly, the most exciting part of the showcase was the final game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and that’s mostly because its trailer showcased some actual gameplay. Despite the many new things we learned about the sequel in that trailer, though, it raised some new questions regarding Venom’s identity in the game.
Sony ended the PlayStation Showcase with a marvelous bang, pun definitely intended, by treating audiences to 12 uninterrupted minutes of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 footage. The video teased Kraven the Hunter as the main villain, a potentially larger world to explore that expands past Manhattan, and, most importantly of all, a Symbiote-infected Peter Parker. And where there’s a Black Suit Spider-Man, Venom isn’t far behind. But that raises an important...

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" is a worthy conclusion to James Gunn's trilogy and his work at Marvel Studios. An outlier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's a movie with soul and purpose beyond just moving the entire universe forward to the next thing, and it features character arcs that go somewhere and a rare thing for this franchise: an actual ending.
The movie also pays off the post-credits scenes from its predecessor by bringing Sylvester Stallone and his original Guardians team back and finally introducing Adam Warlock, one of the coolest Marvel characters from the comics.
As cool as Adam is, and as funny as actor Will Poulter is in the role, he doesn't really fit the movie, and sticks out like a sore thumb every time he shows up. Speaking with io9, writer/director James Gunn himself admits he struggled particularly hard to bring Adam Warlock in.

Fighting game fans are eating well right now. We are weeks away from Street Fighter VI being released. Tekken 8 is coming out sometime soon. King of Fighters Xv and Guilty Gear Strive are still cranking out Dlc. We even have new installments of Fatal Fury and Under Night on the horizon. Adding to the pile is the recently released trailer for Mortal Kombat 12, which is coming out on September 19!
Of course, the thing of it is that the game is actually called Mortal Kombat 1. They hinted as much with the teaser trailers, one of which included the hand on a clock skipping the 12 and going straight to the 1. So what does this confusing choice even mean? I mean, it was bad enough when the ninth game was called “Mortal Kombat.” Now they have to throw this at us?
Then again, fans of Mortal Kombat 11 knew this was in the cards...

In 2005, John Cena rapped that we couldn't see him. In 2023, he couldn't be more visible. Cena, a former WWE wrestler, philanthropist, and seemingly all-around decent dude, has become one of cinema's more amusing and gregarious movie stars in recent years, appearing in light comedies and steely action films with equal aplomb. He hosts game shows, raps, and can speak Mandarin. As a screen presence, he is friendly, goofy, and quite good at playing lovable lugs and clueless dads. While he did appear in explosion-forward flicks like "12 Rounds" early in his career, Cena has rarely been sold as an action hero; he would sooner crop up in "Trainwreck" or "Fred: The Movie" than, say, "The Scorpion King."
As such, the character of Jakob, whom Cena plays in "F9" and "Fast X," is a change of pace for him. In "F9," Jakob was essentially a villain, acting out against Dom Toretto...

A sequel to the Mortal Kombat movie from 2021 is on the way, and The Wrap reports tonight that Karl Urban (“The Boys”) is in final talks to join the cast as Johnny Cage.
The Wrap reminds, “Johnny Cage was introduced in the first Mortal Kombat arcade game in 1992. Johnny Cage is depicted as an action movie star with an extensive martial arts background. He is often characterized as a swashbuckling, Hollywood fighting movie star who places great importance on his image and consistently behaves in a cool manner.”
The star of Amazon’s hit series “The Boys,” Karl Urban turns 50 years old next month, so this particular take on the classic Mortal Kombat character is sure to be different than expected. Many fans had been lobbying for WWE superstar The Miz to play Cage in the upcoming sequel, but Urban’s casting will bring a whole new facet to the character.

Not many horror films truly scare me these days. But alien horror? Even the ones substandard to most send me into a fear frenzy. That’s why I’m taking a deep dive into the sub-genre.
Welcome to Aliens Scare Me. A look into alien horror films on a case by case basis.
This month we’re probing deep into action/sci-fi territory with 1990’s Dark Angel; or depending on where you find it, I Come In Peace, starring the great Dolph Lundgren.
What It’s About
Rogue cop Jack Caine (Lundgren) has his partner killed by a gang of old white men called “The White Boys” (dead serious) who are subsequently murdered by a mysterious force using what appears to be a CD Rom disc as a weapon (still serious). While investigating, Jack and his new partner by force, Special Agent Arwood (Brian Benben), come across an gigantic alien...

Apple TV+ thriller “Suspicion” is set to hit the sales block in Cannes at this year’s MipTV market.
Keshet International has revealed that the eight-part series starring Uma Thurman will headline its drama slate at the spring TV market in France, which kicks off on April 17. The Israeli TV distributor will shop linear rights for the series.
Apple TV+ commissioned Keshet U.K. to produce “Suspicion,” which is based on the popular Israeli series “False Flag” and launched on the service in February 2022. Its sales foray marks one of the rare instances where an original on a streamer (that’s still available globally on the platform) has been sold on the open market for linear rights.
In recent years, major SVODs have been focused on keeping originals on their own platforms for extensive periods in order to drive subscribers. However, in this case, it’s Keshet International that holds...

There was a time when Nintendo was a bit too synonymous with video games. You didn’t own an Nes. You owned a Nintendo. You weren’t playing your old Atari. You were playing Nintendo. You asked your parents for quarters so you could go to the arcade and play Nintendo.
Sega’s adventures in hardware would end in tragedy after tragedy years later, but in October of 1988, Japan released the Mega Drive. Nearly a year later, it came to North America as the Genesis. It put the boots to the aging Nes and pushed Nintendo to evolve in various ways. It gave players a viable choice. It was hip and in-your-face in ways that Nintendo’s consoles never could be no matter how hard they “play it loud.” It gave us years of classics and an iconic controller that really should have had more buttons on it.

Following the massive success of "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" and Tom Holland's portrayal of the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Peter Parker's wall-crawling superhero is more popular than ever. Although, if you're confused by Sony Pictures' approach to their Spider-Man movies, you're not alone. On one hand, True Believers around the world can hardly wait for "Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse" to finally hit theaters next year. On the other hand, every live-action project that gets announced by the studio is just getting weirder and weirder, and we're not even talking about the Madame Web movie that appears to follow the younger years of the elderly spider-hero that most fans remember from the 1990s "Spider-Man: The Animated Series." Instead, it's all of these works that put various members of the friendly neighborhood web-slinger's rogues gallery front and center.
Regardless of how one may feel about the Tom Hardy movies,...

Before Mortal Kombat hit arcades 30 years ago, the arcade was dominated by Street Fighter II, and rightfully so. Capcom’s fighter had rejuvenated the arcade scene, and multiple developers were looking to cash in with their own creations, no matter how much they ripped off Street Fighter II‘s concept. Midway was one company, which had tasked Mortal Kombat creators Ed Boon and John Tobias with creating a fighting game that would rival Street Fighter II. A few digitized actors, a swapping of letters, and a Fatality or two later, and the duo had done just that.
Fighting game stories aren’t exactly deep, and Mortal Kombat‘s story is no exception. The game takes place in Earthrealm, where a martial arts tournament is held on Shang Tsung’s Island. Shang Tsung was banished to Earthrealm 500 years ago and, with the help of the four-armed Shokan warrior Goro, is able...
