The Cannes Film Festival has unveiled the inaugural lineup for its Immersive Competition section, the first-ever selection of augmented and virtual reality works to screen at the austere French film fest.
The 8 competition titles and 6 out-of-competition screenings include works featuring such talents as Jessica Chastain, Colin Farrell, Millie Bobby Brown, and Tahar Rahim. The lineup highlights cutting-edge VR and Ar techniques and includes location-based virtual reality, mixed reality experiences, projection mapping, and holographic works.
Introducing the new immersive section, Cannes said it hoped to “spotlight the next generation of international artists who are redefining storytelling and inventing new narrative-driven experiences that move beyond the traditional two-dimensional cinema screen.” The section is being organized with support from the French national film board, the Cnc. The immersive works will be presented at an exhibition space in the Cannes Cineum complex on the outskirts of the city and at the campus of Cannes’s Georges Méliès film school.

Welcome to this week’s review of Impact Wrestling, which this week is a special Hidden Gems edition of the show featuring a lineup of matches never before seen on television! Let’s get into the review and see what went down…
Match #1: Samuray Del Sol def. Alan Angels The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:
It was an X-Division showcase as Alan Angels went one-on-one with Samuray Del Sol in Chicago, which was the site of this year’s historic Bound For Glory event. Despite Angels’ efforts to rip off the mask of Del Sol, he was unable to vanquish the Luchador. Del Sol would connect with Salida del Sol off the top rope to score his first singles victory in Impact Wrestling.
My Score: 3 out of 5 Match #2: Mk Ultra def. Gisele Shaw & Savannah Evans The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:

Rachel Maddow’s new book explores a dark episode of American history, one that flies in the face of our sanitized national narrative about the United States being the unalloyed champion of democracy that crushed foreign fascism during World War II.
Prequel examines the rise of home-grown fascism in America in the 1930s and 40s — as well as notorious infiltrators from Hitler’s government who cultivated and funded the movement, even capturing hearts and minds among members of the U.S. House and Senate.

David Corenswet may be the first Jewish actor to play Superman, but the Man of Steel himself is as Jewish as matzo ball soup.
As you may or may not know, Superman debuted in 1938, the creation of American and Canadian Jewish teenagers, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. But that authorship is just the beginning. In fact, the entire Superman myth is an American-Jewish fantasy, lifted from numerous Jewish legends and fulfilling the dream of revenge against Hitler.

One of the most acclaimed albums of the 2010s, Frank Ocean’s “Channel Orange” was innovative and fresh, but still classic-sounding, and it earned a whopping 92 score on Metacritic. The album was also a commercial success, debuting at number-two on the Billboard 200. So it’s not surprising that “Channel Orange” was a big Grammy player, receiving major nominations like Album of the Year and Record of the Year (for “Thinkin Bout You”).
Ocean’s biggest Grammy achievement may have been winning the first Best Urban Contemporary Album award, now renamed Best Progressive R&b Album. Albeit controversial, the category has given us some amazing winners like Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” and, most recently, Steve Lacy’s “Gemini Rights.” And when you look at Ocean’s history, the year he competed, and the state of R&b in the early 2010s, it makes total sense how “Channel Orange” truly was the perfect inaugural winner.

In 1813, renowned writer Jane Austen published a book called Pride and Prejudice, which tells the story of the Bennet sisters, who are gussied up and married off to wealthy suitors, one by one. The only sister who seems to question this system is Elizabeth, the rebellious member of the family, who feels strong disdain for the system that treats her more like property than a proper citizen. In 2009, author Seth Grahame-Smith put a new twist on the old tale by creating a parody novel called Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which loosely follows the same basic outline, but adds an entirely different obstacle to the tale: the living dead.
In Grahame-Smith’s story, the girls are not only fighting for the right to be married into regal families, but also battling for their lives on a daily basis. An outbreak has occurred within these humble streets, and now flesh-eating zombies...

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the fifth and final one announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on The CW.
After targeting teen girls for so long, The CW has widened their demographic focus and in the process have improved their fortunes with three of their five new shows from last year returning. One in particular, "Arrow," has been a big hit for them. As a result this year's line-up sticks heavily with genre fare - sci-fi, supernatural, and even a period piece.
The network's troubled "Nikita" has scored a six episode third season order to wrap up its story lines, no word on when those episodes will air just yet. In fact, specific premiere dates for all their shows have yet to be set.

Guess it's just a centipede-y kind of day. Aubrey already showed you a new preview image from "The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence." Now I've got the info on where you'll be able to see the film for the very first time: Austin's Fantastic Fest, on September 22. The deranged depravity debuts as this year's Opening Night Film.
Along with the announcement that director Tom Six's sequel to everyone's favorite ass-to-mouth horror movie will make its world premiere at the festival, Fantastic Fest also solidified the remainder of its lineup today. You can see it all below, but here are a few noteworthy highlights: the Us premiere of Morgan Spurlock's San Diego Comic-Con documentary, "Episode IV: A Fan's Hope," a Cuban zombie movie called -- you're gonna love this -- "Juan of the Dead," and a 30th anniversary screening of "An American Werewolf in London" with makeup artist Rick Baker in attendance.

We are super excited to be attending and giving you guys advance reviews of films that, more than likely, every horror and genre loving freak out there will want to read. Few artists have been able to achieve the level of consistency that Dutch trance icon Armin van Buuren has been able to maintain in his career. Tens of thousands of fans frequently gather to see him spin, and when it comes to tastemakers the proof is in his accolades. For the past three years he has held the top spot on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs list, one of the top honors in the electronic-music industry. And at the recent Ultra Music Festival in Miami, MTV News witnessed him holding court, spinning records from his recently released A State of Trance 2010 compilation album for close to 100,000 of his fans.

It's been two years since Jonathan and Joshua Luna attended a comics convention, but they're planning to attend the San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. They have a lot to celebrate: In 2007, they wrapped up their 24-issue alien-invasion series Girls, and Image released a slipcovered hardback edition of the complete series. This year, they launched their follow-up series, the modern-day fantasy The Sword, which just reached issue 10. It's the third series (after Girls and the superhero miniseries Ultra) that the Lunas have created entirely on their own, from conception to completed art. It seems odd to describe the collaborations of two men as having a singular vision, but all three series stand out as smart, sophisticated, highly idiosyncratic works in which recognizably real people are drawn into horrifically unreal situations. Circle of Confusion Prods. has inked a one-year exclusive deal with Sony Pictures TV.
Under the pact, which has an option for a second year, Circle is busy developing about a dozen projects for the studio.
The 17-year-old management and production company headed by partners David Alpert, Lawrence Mattis and David Engel has deep roots in the sci-fi/comic book/video game universe, with a client roster that includes the Wachowski brothers and Simon Kinberg ("Mr. & Mrs. Smith").
It entered the TV arena in 2006 with the CBS Par pilot for CBS called Ultra, a Barbara Hall-written comic book adaptation toplined by Lena Headey.
Under a first-look deal with CBS Par, the company scored another pilot order last year with the graphic novel-based Them at Fox, which was penned by David Eick and John McNamara and directed by Jonathan Mostow.
Although it will continue to draw from its library, Circle is looking to branch out with original concepts and go for "big, unique ideas for both drama and comedy," said Engel, who is shepherding the company's TV efforts with Alpert.
