GLAAD’s “Where We Are on TV” report for a second consecutive year forecasts an all-time high in the number of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender and queer (Lgbtq) characters on TV, and for the first time ever was able to tally characters who identify as non-binary and asexual.
That said, there are still strides to be made when it comes to the diversity and perceived expendability of Lgbtq characters.
“The Lgbtq characters who make it to TV screens tend to be white gay men,” notes GLAAD president Sarah Kate Ellis, whereas Lgbtq women actually outnumber men and bisexuals in the U.

I’m a cable TV user. I still like my cable. Call me lazy. Call me spoiled. I haven’t yet succumbed to being a cable cutter. I know that financially it makes sense but I just can’t bring myself to do it. But there’s one area of Cable TV that boggles my mind. Whenever a new movie comes out on cable you can “purchase” it i.e. rent it for a set amount of time. But the prices of these rentals are enormous. We’re talking over $10 in most cases and over $20 in others. Pay-per-view events are different (even though those

Captain America: Civil War and Deadpool are among the movies nominated for the People’s Choice Awards 2017.
As two of the most successful releases of the year – and not just in terms of the lucrative superhero genre – confirmation that Civil War and Tim Miller’s R-rated romp are up for awards shouldn’t be all that surprising. They both feature in the ‘favorite movie’ category, and will be competing against Finding Dory, Suicide Squad and the barnstorming Zootopia in two months’ time. Voting is open from today, November 15, and you’ll be able to cast your vote right up until December 15. Expect the winners to be officially announced at the Microsoft Theater on January 18.
Nominations are spread across 64 individual categories, and you’ll notice that Captain America: Civil War and its leading stars crop up on more than one occasion. The People’s Choice Awards 2017 also recognizes the very best...

Why does it never fail to water our eyes when Vin Diesel honors Paul Walker? He did it again last night at the People's Choice Awards, when giving a lengthy acceptance speech for "Furious 7," which won two awards. Vin name dropped the late actor, whom he has called his brother, and at the end of the speech he sang a verse from the film's end song, "See You Again."
Here's his full speech:

Since 1975, the People’s Choice Awards have been sidestepping the critics, guild members, Hollywood insiders, and anyone who could potentially earn the "professional" label to play litmus test of the general public. Anyone can vote using the Pca’s online, paving the way for a populist read on pop culture. What can we gather from the 2014 results? For one, the country is watching different movies. "Maleficent," "Divergent," "22 Jump Street," and actors like Melissa McCarthy, Adam Sandler, and Jennifer Lawrence. all earned love from the 2015 People’s Choice Awards, which hand out a bevy of genre-specific awards. There’s a little crossover with the circuit — "Gone Girl" picked up a Best Thriller statue — and then there are wins that feel a bit more artificial. "The Judge" star Robert Downey Jr. hasn’t been in the Best Actor conversation since people saw "The Judge" in September. But, hey, a Pca pick-me-up never hurt anyone.
